Towards da back of the store, inside Palama Market is the Palama Snack Corner.

What can I say? If you're looking for some DEALAGES on some cheap grindz, Palama Snack Corner is da place to check out, but if you're looking for great customer service.......well that's another story! Lol! I basically came to Palama Supermarket to pickup some green onions for my pops, and since I was already here, I figured I'd pick up something to eat since I didn't get a chance to eat breakfast this morning. Inside the supermarket, towards the back of the store, just next door to the meat dept. you can find the Palama Snack Corner. The Palama Snack Corner carries your typical Korean plate items (see my menu pic), but the nice thing about this place is that da grindz is super cheap! Hard to find any plate lunches for under $10 bucks now-a-dayz, but I found it here when I ordered da BBQ Chicken plate (it's $9.00 bucks). As for service, that's another story. Lol! I came here off hours - (way past lunch time, I wanna say about 3:00ish?). As I walked up to the ordering counter there was no line and I thought someone would promptly greet me, & take my order right away. The workers up front did see me, but decided to do other things, other than take my order. As I waited, finally someone comes up & takes my food order. Food comes out fairly fast, then the lady just puts my BBQ Chicken plate in a plastic bag & dumps the plate on the counter, not saying anything. As I waited for my food, I was thinking if that plate was mine? Or had someone phoned in an order & she just placed the plate on the counter before someone showed up to pick up the food? Hummmmmmm???? At the end, it was my BBQ Chicken plate. I picked it up & left. I think the staff needs to refresh their customer service skills. Lol!

Small Korean cuisine shop hidden inside Palama Marketplace in the back. The menu is small but I noticed they would cater some stuff. Cheap pricing for the food here. Ordered the tofu soup that came with 3 side pickled veggies and a bed of rice. It's similar to Yummy BBQ but much cheaper. It tasted pretty good with decent amount of ingredients in the soup. Need to eat cheap Korean food, come here for sure!

This is the most current menu with prices 6/4/23. They close at 3pm on Sundays

Food is good but has gotten quite expensive, I recommend the spicy shredded beef soup as it's one of my favorites. Yukkhe jang

This review is about their Spicy Cold Noodle and Kimbap. Inside of Palama Market, there lies a little snack corner, literally in the left back corner of the store. I knew that they had cheap food options and I always wanted to try. First off, the store is WAYY more chill than the one near Don Quijote. Highly recommend going here for an overall relaxing experience grocery shopping. Yes, got the Spicy Cold Noodle and Kimbap. The Kimbap was actually bought from the front, because they make it in that kitchen and make it available by leaving it in the front. But anyways, we tried the original Palama Kimbap and Kimchi Kimbap. The Palama Kimbap is so original and perfectly tasty. The beef is so well-seasoned and compliments every other colorful ingredient in the roll. The Kimchi Kimbap does not have meat but has a yellow daikon, carrots, egg, kimchi, and perilla leaf (I think). Oh its so good and not spicy or overwhelming with kimchi taste. But the leaf in the roll adds such a dimension of taste - a weak minty-leafy flavor but doesn't overwhelm. The Spicy Cold Noodle was very interesting. The bed of noodles sit under a huge bed of lettuce and nori. They load it up with the sauce, and the sauce is sweet, spicy, tangy, and seasme-y. I do think they also use a lot of garlic. But it was very delicious. Noodles were chewy and soft. This Spicy Cold Noodle is on the more "plain" side, considering the low amount of toppings used I've had other places. However, I was hungry and craving those noodles so it did the job. Prices are a well-kept secret. Spicy Cold Noodle for $8 and Kimbap for $4.50/$5! If you are hungry and are in the area, you won't have to break-the-bank to eat something delicious and satisfying here! So glad I got to try them - finally! I love Korean food so this was definitely satisfying. The food is yummy and authentic. You probably pay twice as much at "gourmet" restaurants, plus tip. Here, none of that nonsense. And while the seating is small and limited, the less-busyness of this location does not make that an issue. I'm definitely coming back here to try their other Korean dishes.

So I came here thinking it was the same place as the other one in town by Ala Moana and even though it technically is, I think this location is a lot better because of the quantity of the food. I order a $12 kalbi plate from the other side and get 3 slabs of kalbi with 2 sides which is still cheap, but this place gave me 5 slabs of kalbi and 3 sides. I'm not sure if I lucked out or what, but I definitely gotta come back again to see if it happens again lol. I ordered the usual kalbi/bbq chicken combo and $3.50 15pcs fried mandoo, but this time I ordered the Kimchee Stew which is similar to a Kimchee soup, but it tasted more spicy on the kimchee-ey side. I probably wouldn't order it again. I want to try kalbi cabbage soup next. I phone ordered and it was ready in 10mins. The staff was quick and friendly. There are a lot of parking available. This restaurant is located inside of the Palama Supermarket in Kalihi near the Kapalama canal.

My go-to place when there's nothing to eat at home and when I'm sick of the fast food places around me. Korean food is one of my favorite things to eat. There's just something about it that makes you wanting more. Located in Palama Supermarket in the back left corner is where you can find fresh, affordable Korean dishes. They recently underwent renovations but I'm not really sure what's different? You can either have your food to-go or eat at the designated tables. The nice thing is you can do a bit of grocery shopping while waiting for your food. I normally order the barbecue chicken or the meat jun but I decided to try something different and order the chicken katsu plate The chicken katsu was a bit of a let down...the breading to meat ratio was ridiculous! For at least 2/3 of the plate, the meat was literally a centimeter thick so basically you're just eating breading...for the pieces that had some meat in them, they weren't bad. After this experience, I won't be ordering this again. I think I'll just stick to my usual of barbecue chicken and meat jun

It is located in the palama shopping market near Don Quijote. Parking isn't the best during the busy hours, but you can sit an wait for people leaving. This is a good budget saving place to eat Korean food. They give large portions for a low price. I got the cold noodles, also known as Naengmyeon. It was $6 and a giant bowl. I wanted it to be more cold, but sadly they did not have ice.... otherwise it was pretty good. Came with vinegar and the hot mustard. It also came with cabbage kimchi, but it was really warm and had a strange taste. Husband got the meat jun. It came with rice, kimchi, Mac salad, bean sprouts, meat jun sauce. Hot sauce is 0.50 extra. Overall pretty good for the price!

#63, 64, & 66 and phone order guy got their food before my number. Does this make any sense?

Well, I got here close to 1:00 PM, looked around and the boys wanted bbq chicken from here. Ok, I place my around at 1:05 pm and looked around a bit, about 15 minutes later, I go back and waited for the order. A phone order that was taken AFTER my order, 2 bbq chicken, was given to the guy who came in. All I thought was "wth?! This guy ordered after me and got his order?!" Idgi, irdgi. Because the kitchen decided this, she didn't even cook more chicken and I waited for 30 bleeping minutes! Mind you, all numbers AFTER my number were given their order, 15 minutes before me. Again WTH?! Wow. Timing is everything. This lady couldn't handle the 'slam' Perfect example of 'taking care of someone you know.' Not sure if I'll order food from them. My groceries were warm by the time I got home. That is waaaaay too long!

Bring back the team of Korean and Filipino ladies who cooked at the Dillingham Snack Corner!!! Was advised the cooks here now are primarily men. The spicy BBQ pork was so disappointing. It was somewhat on the dry side and the portions shrank considerably. Not to mention, the price is now $8 when it was previously $6. Quality of food and portions went down and prices went up. Noticed the prices of the other plates sky rocketed as well!!! Not eager to come back to eat at this place unless you bring back those ladies who ROCKED at the Dillingham location.

Wow ... after a year this got things right and is on par with the town location. Their best dish is the soft tofu stew and their sides are generous along with two scoops of rice. Note they offer 5 free mandoos after 5 pm for each order. Prices are very affordable and portions are generous.

Small pan MEAT JUN! Take 30+mins!

Meat Jun for sure the kids!!! Not FULL - see the sauce (had to minus one star for that)?! Lalalove it though! FYI-when you place a phone order, they take your credit card info- like ALL the digits! Be prepared but its all good. The gal said they do that cause some don't pick up the food. I get it!

    No way this mild.

In the past, I thought the food was a good value. The taste and quality was great at a low price. But today I am very disappointed. I ordered a mild soft tofu soup (my normal order). It was not even close. When I got home and opened the container, it was a very deep red. I could not eat it. I took out the tofu/veggies and made my own soup with broth but it was still spicy. I never had this problem in the past. Make sure you check your food before leaving.

This place offers many delicious Korea dishes, including my favorite, Kalbi, at very reasonable prices. Their Kalbi dish, in my view, is far superior to their competitors have to offer because of its succulency, thickness, tenderness, tastiness, portion, and lowered price. More importantly, I believe they do pre-cooked their Kalbi, re-heated them, and then served; some, if not all, of their competitors do re-heat their pre-cooked Kalbi to save customer's waiting time, resulting in too dried, super well-done, and lousy tasting Kalbi. I gave this eatery four, instead of five star, because admittedly, it is not a fancy place; however, if customers only care about the food, this is a five-star place.

The guava bar was delicious and flavorful and just crumbles in your mouth! Definitely one of the better guava bars I've tried. Love how crumbly it is. The salmon belly was delicious OMFG. It looks so simple and straightforward but that sht is so flavorful. It is crispy and yet soft on the inside. The salmon belly is cut into bite-sized pieces so I didn't have to worry about using a knife to cut it. I usually try salmon belly where it is usually seasoned lightly to bring out the natural flavor of the salmon, but Guava Smoked's salmon belly is just grilled in a way that makes the salmon sweet/crispy and still get traces of the salmon taste as well. It's definitely not your traditional Japanese-style way of cooking salmon belly but really just their own. I'd go back and get this again. Another thing too. I'd get this with beer. This would hit very hard with alcohol but because I don't drink I need a kombucha. The grilled salmon belly would go perfect with it. Cheers! Uncle was very helpful and kind when serving and if you dine-in he brings it to your table.

There is a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant that is shared with the other businesses in the same building. When I walked into the restaurant at about 1pm on a Wednesday, I was surprised to find it almost empty. It's a pretty large space, so the lack of patrons was rather glaring. There was one person sitting at the counter facing the kitchen and one employee working. This was my very first visit to Guava Smoked so I asked the person at the counter what he recommends. He said the two most popular meats are the kalbi and the spicy pork. "Perfect!" I thought, because those were the two options I was eyeing. Unfortunately, they were out of kalbi that day. Bummer... Nothing else on the menu caught my eye, so I ordered a smoked spicy pork plate to go. The spicy pork was good. Did it blow my mind? I wouldn't say it did. But it was satisfying enough. Honestly, I really wish they had kalbi available when I went. Hopefully next time I stop in they will.
