We're repeat customers at Palacio and have had an outstanding experience every time. Food, service, ambience, never disappoint. Located in a quieter part in the edge of downtown, parking is usually pretty easy to find on-Street, and it's a few steps over to shops. The outdoor patio is secluded and quiet, and the indoors offers plenty of seating in a historic setting that's bright and fresh. On the food side, Palacio cooks their red Chile for over 8 hours, making it in my opinion one of the best and most flavorful in Santa Fe. Most other places I get Christmas style, but here, the red Chile is just perfect. On this trip, we had a smothered breakfast burrito and enchiladas suizas. Both were perfectly cooked, served hot, and resulted in another visit of what we expected from Palacio - great food and friendly service in what had quickly become our favorite Santa Fe restaurant.

I really liked it here. The bar is a good fit for solo diners. Excellent food and friendly, accommodating staff.

We came across Palacio Cafe after The Shed told us their waiting list was 2.5 hours right after they opened. No thanks! Glad we kept walking! The staff at Palacio Cafe were so kind and welcoming. It the made our meal even more special! We had chips and salsa, green chili stew, and a combo plate. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Skip the outrageous long lines of the other places and come here!

A bit disappointed. Service wasn't as attentive as expected (re: coffee refills, checking in). Pancakes were doughy and under-done. Flies visible and annoying at table. Probably won't be back.

Omelette, Christmas style

Great local spot to grab some local Santa Fe breakfast. I ordered a traditional breakfast with eggs over medium, bacon and potatoes. However, something must've gotten lost in the translation because I was served an omelette, Christmas style (meaning both red and green chilies, and it was simply delectable service was outstanding other than the confusion on my breakfast order, which the the server apologized multiple times for messing up my breakfast, but at the end of the day, it was actually a blessing because what I received was much better than what I ordered Ambience wise... The Restaurant was not that busy but had a nice quiet vibe to it. Made for a very enjoyable lazy morning. Coffee was standard fare and very enjoyable to go with my breakfast. My dining companion went a more healthy route with granola and yogurt and said everything was very tasty

We found this little gem from some locals in Santa Fe. It is warm, good authentic NM food, friendly service, excellent drinks. We went twice during our visit! The space is cozy and comfy.

Good experience. We were seated immediately for late lunch. The food came promptly and was really hot. We had a chicken burrito with Christmas sauce. We also had the salmon fruit salad. Both dishes were good. Tres leches cake was very relaxing.

Friendly service and delicious food in the heart of Santa Fe. We ordered a variety of different things from the menu. I got the Enchilada suizas, which was the special for the day, my boyfriend got the Chile Relleno Plate, and others got the frito pie, enchiladas, or a salad. Mine came with refried beans and others came with pinto beans. Both were good but I liked the refried beans the best. Portions were pretty big, some people shared, some had leftovers, and those of us that finished our plates left very full. There were different areas to sit including a couple rooms and a back patio. We were in the side room that was a little more plain, but the other room really had that New Mexico feel and vibe. We came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and they were easily able to accommodate our group of 7.

So far, this is the best Mexican cuisine in New Mexico in my limited NM dining experience. My spouse and I had lunch and ordered the Chef Salad and the Enchilada Plate with baked chicken. The Chef Salad was made with fresh ingredients and was a nice, ample portion. The Enchiladas were crafted with yellow corn tortillas filled with baked chicken, cheddar cheese, and onions, all generously topped with a rich red chile sauce. Absolutely delicious! The restaurant's decor was authentic and unique, fitting perfectly with its location in an artist town. The restrooms were clean, and the service was excellent. A wonderful find!

This place is delicious and adorable We came after church it's right next to it I ordered the special suiza enchilada with chicken green chili carmelized onions and avocado and rice and beans Our table ordered frito pie and green chili burger The margaritas are top notch

Green chile beef stew

Do NOT sleep on the beef green chile stew - omg! A warm tortilla on the side, so so delicious! A little bit of a bite due to the green chile. The salad as well as chips, salsa, and guacamole were excellent. The service was wonderful and the ambiance was relaxed while being lively. The colors of the cafe are beautiful yellows, reds, blues. We felt very welcomed and our drinks arrived quickly. Quality of the food is excellent.

July 22nd 2024 walked a few blocks from the plaza Eastward to the Palacio Cafe. Very busy place at lunch Wife had a $16.64 chicken enchilada with corn tortilla. Two corn tortillas with chicken cheddar cheese onions topped with red chili sauce just the way she likes it hot and spicy. I had the $13 Rubin sandwich it comes on marble rye bread thousand Island dressing Swiss cheese corned beef and sauerkraut. Wife would normally order this but has an aversion to sauerkraut I would usually not order this as not fond of marble rye bread. However the corned beef was juicy tender and so outstanding the best reuben sandwich I have ever tasted so good that I overlooked the marble rye bread. Would come back here again in an instant for the reuben sandwich alone. my wife can even have some and I would eat her sauerkraut

The Shed is has long been a favorite for visitors to the plaza area of Santa Fe. On my fifth trip…read moreto Santa Fe I decided to give it a go for an early Friday lunch. Very glad I did--we nabbed a courtyard table, and enjoyed our time immensely. It's a beautiful, comfortable spot. The food was satisfying and generous. Really recommend the corn chowder--tons of flavor, great consistency. The huevos rancheros were solid, not spectacular. Just not as spicy as I would have liked and the pintos were just average. The pork sliders were awesome, a great deal. Service was friendly and efficient. Lots of solid pros working together.

We were not able to score one of the coveted reservations for dinner, so we braved the walk-in queue in the courtyard, which actually moved quite fast -- with a wait time of about 45 minutes for a party of two on a weekday night. The menu features all the classic New Mexican flavors you'd expect, from enchiladas to burritos, and the kitchen is happily open to accommodating most dietary restrictions. At our server's recommendation, we split a bowl of the Vegetarian Posole ($9). While it was packed with corn, butternut squash, green chile, and garlic, we both agreed it didn't quite live up to the massive hype. On the other hand, the entrees completely redeemed it. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tamale Plate ($18.50) -- two tamales (your choice of red pork chili or green veggie chili -- I did one of each) served with beans, Spanish rice, and a side of red or green chile that packs the perfect punch. My dining companion loved the Fish Tacos ($17.25), which came loaded with sautéed cod, avocado, cabbage, and a beautifully citrus-forward pico de gallo. Both of us thought the portions were filling without leaving us feeling stuffed and the flavors were completely spot on. Overall, a great 4-star experience with wonderful flavors, great value, and solid service despite the chaotic dinner rush!

Would never come back again. ============= This review got flagged by Yelp HQ, let me rewrite this and be clear of what happened. I walked into El Callejon Taqueria and Grill, located on 208 Galisteo St Santa Fe, NM 87501 on Aug 22 2026. It was on a Saturday night, right before 9pm. This was my first weekend in the city of Santa Fe, on both Yelp and Google this location shows the restaurant closes at 11pm. When I walked in the bartender told me that it was closed. I wouldn't care that a business is closed before the listed hours; it was the way the bartender went about it. He could have politely told me that the kitchen was closed, and I would not have had any problem with it. He walked up to me within arm's length and continuously repeated "sorry we are closed" multiple times while getting closer to me. It was one of the worst experiences I have had to get escorted "asked" out of a restaurant. The experience was not good. To be clear I never get to try the food here.

This is a simple family restaurant with red booths and a no frills plastic booths filled patio. We were pleased they had a liquor license! Turns out it was a great choice for dinner, even though I didn't have a huge appetite tonight. No chips and salsa for free in this town, we plowed into drinks and entrees instead. Our server was a patient and relaxed young man, happy to take my order and then let me change it before he left the table. The $8 sangria was huge and boozy, in a sweet and very good way. Dos XX bottle came with a chilled salted mug and lime. Prices were reasonable. Our server was excited to serve me my first Frito pie ($9) with red chile, no beans, it was the perfectly sized smaller portion meal for me with no leftovers! I ate all of it, then maybe had a little regret. I wish I had ordered Christmas style to try both the red and green sauces, but the red was pretty spicy and I felt it the next day. Covered in lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream, it doesn't look like much on a plate but I am a big fan of Frito pie now! Husband had the Grande combo with beef taco, cheese enchilada (red), chicken tostada, rice, posole and beans. This is where Valentina's shines! The tostada chicken was extremely tender and moist shredded meat in a fluted blue corn tortilla cup. The cheese enchilada was gooey and perfect, the red sauce dark, rich and earthy. The beef taco crispy and satisfying. It seems in NM that posole is served with everything, feels strange to this Arizona gal to have hominy and pork as a side. It isn't super flavorful but its traditional, so we picked at it. This plate came with a flour tortilla to boot, overkill! Rice and beans were solid contributors, but this was a huge plate and a struggle to finish! In the end, it ended up being one of our most economical and memorable dinners in our week in Santa Fe, thanks Valentinos!
