I've yet to have a good experience dealing with anyone inside this Pak Mail. The drop and go space seems easy and convenient however it's extremely inconsistent. While they claim it's picked up daily for processing, every item I've dropped or even had them scan in does not move for multiple days. You're better off going direct to whichever shipper you're working with, don't waste your time here. Two stars so you don't totally discount the review without reading it. It's truly a 0 star experience. Copying this review over from Google, I've added in the voicemail left by the PakMail team for visibility of the service provided. i contracted pakmail to ship an awkwardly shipped item. the quore was higher than i expected, but the owner explained the awkward shape would require special packaging. it turns out that the auction house did not accurately report the measurements and pakmail made a custom box just for my piece. the owner called me to tell me there was a slight delay due to the need of a custom box, and that he had spent the better part of a day making the package himself. further he honored his initial quote although clearly he was in the red on my shipment. i decided to increase my payme by ~12% to thank him. its rare to find customer service like that at pakmail these days, and the world would be a better place if there were. this is only the second review ive ever written, but pakmail has earned a perfect score. thank you pakmail! read more

Mr. Fortiage, the current owner of this operation, has impressed me with his diligence and hard work. Quotes for shipping a sculpture were provided and emailed to me after closing, later in the evening. The price was fair and I appreciated the extra effort made to explain the packing process, a request I always make when shipping sculpture. I am a long time customer of the Pakmail in Chapel Hill and recently mailed off a package to Minnesota which was twice the amount I usually pay. It seems the prices have recently gone up almost twice the amount I usually pay. I think this is beyond reasonable. The people at the front desk have always gone above and beyond the call of duty and I like the customer service. I would hate for this company to lose good business because of overcharging the customers. Hope to see more reasonable prices. read more

"Obnoxious" isn't even strong enough a word to describe these two women. I've found them rude before but today took the cake. I was planning on mailing a wedding present and handed her the address and had the box sealed and the vase inside was well-wrapped by me. The lady with a bad cold who never looked up and seemed put out by having to wait on anybody asked me if it were fragile. I said, " A little," and then the other one came over and started vigorously shaking the box. " Stop that," I said. She replied, " It doesn't seem fragile." I repeated, " Stop shaking the box." She shook it again. I grabbed it. I told them they were obnoxious and I'd take my business elsewhere. I went down to the gas station nearby that has a post office. A nice guy waited on me. Not sure what's happened with this place in the last few months but today was the last day I will attempt to mail anything from this business. Greeting customers would be nice.. "Last name" being barked at you is not a greeting then trying to over charge me over $10 for priority mail? Ended up driving to the USPS office in Pittsboro where Priority was around $5.50.. Nice overcharge there, Pak Mail?! I'll gladly drive 4 miles out of my way to avoid being overcharged and barked at.. Btw the postal lady was beyond sweet, greeted me and when I told her my story another customer behind me said she'd experienced the same thing! If I could mark them zero, I would. I have been going there for years for shipping needs, only because they are closest to us. But they have always been rude and disrespectful. We have only had a good experience with one person who does the Notary services. EVERYONE else, especially the woman who seems to have been there the longest needs serious help in customer service. Don't use this place. Go to usps. They have horrible service, especially around holidays. Third experience here and I've tried to stay positive. They charged me a repackaging fee on top of the ridiculous price. I wrapped my stuff in bubble wrap and packed air bags in the package. There was no need to "repackage" for $8. I weighed and measured my package with usps and it was half the price for the same service. Went with pak mail because it was closer. They won't fool me again. read more

Horrible. I went in with a friend on a Friday with two large bowls and two framed pictures to ship across the country. They couldn't pack it that day so they took her info and would call. I have been "doing business" with this PakMail location since they first opened. I have never had but the greatest respect and kindest treatment from the owners or staff. My needs are always met with most speed and attention to detail. I can not help but wondering if the others that have written reviews were short tempered or grouchy themselves at the time of their visit. Hard to know these things. The 2 stars are for location alone. I will only use this Pak Mail for prepaid packages. If you have to pay for shipping there, the overcharges have been outrageous every time, and it's almost always not even worth shipping at all, and then you also have to deal with the horrible attitudes of their staff. Every time I go in there, they are so rude and curt that I think 'what have I done to piss them off?' but after reading these other reviews, I guess I'm not the only one. It's too bad there is not a closer UPS or Fedex outlet - I have a feeling this place survives because it's the only game in town. read more

I have had my mailbox and do all my shipping/copying/buy supplies there for the past 4 or 5 years and I am appalled by the people who wrote such damning reviews, all i can say is there are thousands of people just like them that have bad days or bad attitudes and they Expect, Demand, Order others around when in their little snit moods. Totally honestly, truly and deeply from my heart I have never ever had an iota of attitude of rudeness towards me. EVERYONE THERE IS SUPER TO ME, but then again, I like to feel that I am a warm person and I go into any facility with my kind bones firmly supporting everyone. They are in a very very hectic kind of business with hundreds of demanding customers CONSTANTLY, the pressure is palpable and I have heard people lash out if they aren't fast enough or cheap enough. Honestly folks, when you go in and can't understand the nature of the constraints or the logistics and be generous of heart and attitude, then you are at fault, not those two wonderful girls at Pak Mail, nor the owners either. Mr. and Mrs. Carter, the owners, have never treated me anything with anything but the utmost respect. Granted, Mr. Carter isn't there a lot and Mrs. Carter is there when the place is in a crunch, or one of the two girls is off/ or at a dr., but SHE is nothing but professional. Sheryl is gone now, Catherine and Deb (the new girl) are super exceptional at what they do .... I have my mail box there so am in quite often and because I have had nothing but fun times there, laughter and yes friendship that I cherish I try to remember them with a little gift card for lunch, or a few paltry flowers or some goodies when I can afford it (i'm old, live on fixed income).... Whenever you see such awful comments being made by people on this website, take it with a grain of salt and realize that some people have it in for service people if they don't jump higher, take it on the chin with a what? smile when you start in on them? Their rates are what they are, those girls are not able to change what the US postal service is telling them to charge. If you need something out really fast go to facilities who claim that is what they do. The Carters are always there to help those two girls out when IT IS CRUNCH time, it's not like there is an option to get extra help in there, there are only two stations, with a scale and register. Just be realistic in your expectations, be patient, be respectful and I guarantee that you will always be treated with respect and kindness back. Granted, I am old, I have grown in wisdom and patience over the years, I wish I could teach a class in generosity of heart and spirit to all these very rushed, hectic people perhaps with 2 jobs, both parents working, a house with a huge mortgage because you do your best for your children, but please please please do not come into a very small business and think these 2 girls can absorb all your stress. I have had two bad experiences here. The first was finding it closed well (15min) before their stated closing time. The second was when my wife unassumingly walked in and attempted to mail a golf club for me. I asked her to go to the post office, but forgot to tell her it normally costs $16. Their price $57! I was outraged and called demanding a price break down since the fedex rate calculator online said it should cost $36. I was told there was a rural delivery charge but they couldn't remember what that was. Online it says $4. There was no attempt to locate this information and an inability to break down the details of the cost. This is either incompetence or dramatically inflated pricing. Hmmm. Steer clear! read more
