Adorable store with very unique items, many of Chinese and Japanese style that you won't find in the mainstream shops nearby. Wonderful woman who owns this place, always going different places to find her treasures so you will be sure to find something new each time you visit. Great store to support.

Beautiful tiny pack of coloring pencils ($12.50), plus a tube of replacement pencils ($7).

Walking in with a backpack and hiking boots, I was prepared to be fussed over or lectured to be careful not to knock stuff over. However, the owner is really nice and didn't treat me any differently to the well-dressed people who were on their way out. After a few minutes we were chatting about music and movies. I was not expecting to buy anything in there but couldn't resist a tiny package of coloring pencils. There were also quite a few really interesting or beautiful items that give a sense of history of the place - like some vintage menus with beautiful artwork. I'm also giving Pagoda 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental responsibility. Most of the items in her store come from homes around the island - estate sales and so on. Not everything is Hawaiian - there's quite a lot of Japanese and also some Chinese items - but I believe the majority of it comes from people who have lived locally (and of course there's a long history of Japanese and Chinese cultures here). Anyway, the point being that when you consider the social and environmental impact of items you purchase, you can't get much better than pre-owned items!

I love this store. It's filled with vintage Hawaiiana and great mid century antique finds. Exactly what we were looking for in Kauai. Furniture, wall hangings, and other home items are what this store offers. I don't know why they don't advertise more. I get the feeling that people in Kauai are trying to keep the island sort of remote. But they were very friendly and lovely to us.

Beautiful Tea pot with handpainted dragon! She also had two matching cups!

Stumbled into this cozy antique store while driving to Lihue for work. At first glance, it's hard to tell they are even an antique store because everything is so clean and neat. They have such a great range of item selection, sure to add to any collection. We were in search of traditional Chinese tea pots with matching tea cups. Liane was so helpful in showing us anything she thought may suite our needs. It was reassuring that she was knowledgeable in the history of her pieces and a bit about the background of Chinese history. We left with two beautiful tea pots and a total of 8 tea cups! Besides kitchenware, her store stocks old postcards, buttons, purses, quilts, mirrors, side tables, glass orbs you name it! Definitely not a thrift store, so don't expect garage sale prices!

What a wonderful shop. Huge range of items. It's not cheap- but, the items are quality. And the more you look the more you see.

Wanted to like this store, but found the owner quite hostile and a bit of a bully. Wish it had been a better experience.

(of course, in the end the _cheapest_ souvenirs are found at evil wal*mart or else costco.)

We've passed by this shop over a few dozen times over the years & decided to give it a go. The items are handmade from the Koa tree that is found in Hawaii. There are pens, jewelry, bags/purses, wallets, key chains, cutlery, ornaments, vases, kitchen items & other curious artwork displayed for sale. Candace was manning the shop & she was so friendly & welcoming. She even suggested a lady who might be able to create what we're looking for. This lady works from home & has a website (Tropical Isle Music). I love to support local businesses & Candace was so charming, I bought a couple of Aloha Hula girl ornaments & a pineapple (see photo) ornament. There's a few spaces for parking that it shares with Mankoa & a granola shack. It was lovely speaking with Candace, who I learned is actually half Filipino & half Japanese, born & raised in Kaua'i. Her grandfather was one of the first Filipinos who arrived from the Philippines to work in the plantations in Hawaii. It's always interesting to learn about people & their heritage. I'm very pleased with the experience & my purchases at this shop

The clothing prices are fairly expensive, but the quality of the fabric for both the Tori Richards and Pineapples pieces is very good. Great pricing on sterling silver jewelry, although I cannot speak to the value on the local pearls. The clothing had a nice range of sizes, although was somewhat lacking in women's size medium for some styles. I visited the shop three times over the course of a week-long stay nearby (my indecisive husband was picking out a shirt), and I did not experience the poor service highlighted in other reviews. Each time, the clerk welcomed us and was ready to answer any questions. I also got a good, informative overview on the local pearls and why their selection has some imperfections from one of the clerks while my husband was trying on shirts, without feeling pressured to buy jewelry.

She didn't even bother greeting me or my daughter and she was just in front of us as we walked in. But I noticed that she was welcoming other customers who came in the store! (Things that make you wonder!) I asked her a question about the clothes designer and she didn't even bother to look me in the eye when she responded. Instead she made it a point to talk to another customer ! At that point I was done. I work in the travel industry and good customer service is number one for me! I provide it and I expect it , especially if you work in a major tourist destination where you can ruin someone's day by just being plain rude and unwelcoming. Anyway I left and went to Ayatar, the clothes boutique across from this store. The sales person at Ayatar was friendly and accommodating so I bought $500 worth of stuff from her because I always reward good customer service.
