Probably my favorite shoppe in the island. Wildly cool. Thoughtfully curated with a broad range of functional and decorative objects. Books too. And much more clearly. Don't miss it. It is always worth a stroll through. read more

On May 27, 2026, I purchased from the Seller, Hunter Gather, at its shop located at 4270 Kilauea Rd, Ste I-1, Kauai, HI 96754, four items including small crystal sculpture of a turtle approximately 6" x 4" in size. The price of the crystal turtle sculpture was $218. I wasn't watching over the shoulder of the store clerk, a very young looking woman or late teenager, when she rang me up and put my items in a small brown paper bag with handles. I should have been watching. I assumed that she would wrap the turtle sculpture appropriately. When we left Kauai on May 30, 2026 to fly back home, my wife packed the bag containing the items I purchased in your store in my suitcase. When we got home and unpacked the suitcase, I took out the brown paper bag. I did not realize that somehow the brown paper bag had developed a tear in one of the side creases in the bag. I lifted up the bag from the suitcase laying open on the bed and moved it literally a foot away when the turtle sculpture slipped from the tear in the bag and landed on our tile floor. To our surprise and shock, we saw that the crystal sculpture had been wrapped only in a few sheets of extremely thin, colored wrapping paper and that, when I unwrapped the paper, the head and the rear flippers had broken off! Remembering the transaction, I recalled that the clerk had barely said anything. She did not ask if we wanted her to wrap the crystal turtle securely. Usually, when we have bought fragile items from an arts and crafts shop, the clerk either asks if we want the item packaged securely or voluntarily does it without us asking. As I said, the clerk looked young and acted as if she were new on the job. If not, she was not trained properly to either ask the customer if he or she wanted the fragile object packed securely or hadn't been trained well enough to know that it should be packed securely. Then she placed my items in a flimsy, defective paper bag that tore easlly at its seam, allowing the object to slip out. The principal causes of the breakage of the turtle were: 1) the negligence of the young, inexperienced or poorly trained clerk to package the object securely or to even ask me if wanted it packed securely, and 2) placing the object together with two heavier, bulkier items in the flimsy, defective, easily tearable paper bag that was provided I requested the owner of the shop to refund the purchase price of the turtle but he has refused, adopting a "Once it's out the door, it ain't my problem anymore" stand. read more

Coolest shop on the island for local and unique gifts and clothes - everything from ceramics to incense to body oils to board shorts. I came here several years ago and was charmed. Came back this summer to find it had expanded and renovated to an impressive degree. I appreciate the focus on local artists and creators, even tho there are a few bigger names on the clothing racks. The deliberate curation is really felt here and I love that the counter person was giving another customer she knew critique on her surfing takeoff. For really high quality and beautiful things for friends or yourself look no further. read more

This shop is a gem in the rough. All the cute and pretty things to look at including sweet customer service. Pop in over after grabbing a lovely drink at trilogy and find some wonderful jewelry, crystals, books or some decorative art. read more

Walked into the store and saw that they had a nice selection of items that looked unique and interesting. For that, it was 5 stars. Unfortunately, when I greeted one of the workers, I got a very cold and unwelcoming vibe back. She didn't offer any help or seemed interested. It was a turn off so I left. There were very few people in the store so it wasn't that she was busy. Just unfriendly I guess. My sister who was waiting outside for me said the worker was peering at her through the window. Too bad as I would have likely bought something so only giving this place 3 stars. read more

Totally cool, inspirational vibe, artistic hippy shop. Jewelry, art, books, gifts and more. I must have spent well over 30 minutes looking at all of the items in a pretty small store, finally choosing a few that touched me. I would definitely come back and spend a lot more money here! read more

This store we so beautifully curated. Every item was unique and interesting. We visited twice during our trip.

A group of us stumbled across this hidden gem while we were in Kauai for my wedding. Needless to say, a few of us flew back to the mainland with heavier suitcases and big smiles on our faces. This store is seriously fab. Great modern home gifts, blankets, trinkets, jewelry, books, artwork, stationary - it's the kind of store you'd find in a cool neighborhood in a big city, yet it's tucked into a little shopping center in Kilauea. High-end, modern home goods are a rare find in Kauai (which is known for its beaches, not its cool design shops), yet Hunter Gatherer would be right at home in a big city. The owner is awesome too. I speak from experience - this is a great place to find a nice wedding gift for your friends, or a little treasure to take home with you too. read more

Happy to say the mean woman no longer works at Hunter Gatherer! Only good vibes now with Kelly, Michelle and Chloe. I bought too much at Hunter Gatherer this trip: a $40 Turkish towel for the beach, multiples of Michelle Dick's art, a book and locally made sarong. The owners also own Trilogy coffeehouse next door, which we frequented a lot this trip. Also wanted to note that Hunter Gatherer does carry quite a few locally made item: clothes, jewelry and art to name a few. read more

Hunter Gatherer - Home Decor Near Me - Kauai, Hawaii

This was one of my favorite store on the entire island. The pieces are all absolutely beautiful. Their shirts are sooo soft. The owner of the shop has great taste. Some items are pricey, and others are reasonably priced. We bought an original print that we can't wait to frame and hang up in our new condo for $45. Baseball-like hats are $35. Other larger art pieces go for $100s+. So it really depends on what you fall in love with. In my opinion, items are reasonably priced for the level of quality and authenticity. read more
