There are some finished goods, such as purses, and glass cases. But why you come is for the service and company of fellow quilters and sewers. I always find something I must have! What a treasure to shop at Vicky's Fabrics in Kauai! Not only do they have a wide selection of beautiful fabrics, notions and gifts, they are so helpful and nice! That's what makes an excellent quilt shop. I visit quilt shops whenever I travel and I can tell you I was pleasantly surprised. They have exclusive batik fabric made for their store as well as beautiful Hawaiian and Japanese prints. They also carry all the other fabrics that are all high quality quilting fabric too. They have patterns that you can't find anywhere else (definitely not on the mainland) and have samples to show you how they look made. Their calendar is full of wonderful classes so check it out. They also host very famous quilters for classes such as Debbie Maddy teaching shibori. I'm not a knitter but they have Sock and Worsted yarn by Hand Dyed Yarn of Kauai. Wouldn't that be a wonderful place to visit with your friends and make your own Hawaiian quilting retreat? They mailed my huge purchase to me for $15 so I didn't have to carry it in my luggage. I went to Vicky's Fabrics today to buy lining for dresses I am making my granddaughters. I picked up two bolts out of the selection of fabrics. I picked them up to take to the cutting table. They were heavy. At the cutting table an employee was cutting fabric for someone else. I asked if I could put the bolts down on the corner of the cutting table. She said very strongly "No, they are in my way!" I responded "I am sorry, but they are heavy." She immediately picked up the bolts and actually threw them behind her. Hmmm, did I do something wrong? So, you don't know me by name, but that doesn't give you the right to yell at me and treat me poorly. Maybe I should have laid the bolts of fabric on the floor. I have been in Vicky's many, many times and have had much better service. Too bad one event can sour someone's opinion of a store. read more

I love a family owned business instead of big box retailers! This place is small but is chock full of supplies and knowledge. I went in for elastic and threads for projects ~ was thrilled to get a 2 minute lesson on the differences in elastics! Not gonna get that at a big box place! I was hoping that Vicky's would have a larger selection of Japanese fabrics and be more geared towards clothing construction- the store does have some imported Japanese fabrics, and a large selection of Hawaiian/Tropical prints as well as Batiks, it is more geared towards quilting. The service was excellent, and they pack a lot of fabric into that little store. I found a wonderful Hawaiian print that will make a fabulous retro dress. read more

Fun shop with a really good selection of Hawaiian fabric. The shop owner , Mailli(?) was very helpful but not to the point of following you around the shop. I was interested in one of their kits and she had just gotten one back from the quilters and had no problem laying it out so I could see it finished . The prices were in line with most all shops on the mainland. Very fun Hawaiian Christmas themed if you're into holiday quilts. Once in a while, I'll go to Vickys Fabrics to browse. They have alot of nice fabrics but are very expensive. Like $11 a yard or so. Lots of sewing supplies, quilt supplies, craft items, etc. Customer service is a hit or miss. Depends who is working, I won't get greeted, or thanked at the register. I'm a sucker for genuine friendly service so when I walked in the shop and felt the Aloha spirit, I knew I was in the right spot to find some Hawaiian fabrics to bring home to the mainland to create some treasures to remind me of this trip to Kaua'i. Variety of Aloha, Japanese and Batik prints but not too overwhelming either. There's also packs of swatches of Hawaiian fabrics as well if you're interested in making a quilt or for other small projects. I was recently in Kauai on a Sunday only. I had sent an email to Vicky's Fabrics and another nearby quilt shop to see if either would be open. Vicky's Fabrics was so very nice. They opened especially for me and had a wonderful selection of tropical batiks and some nice tropical kits. I liked a quilt without a pattern that was hanging on the wall. They pulled the appropriate fabric for me, put all of my purchases in a box and shipped them for me. My trip to the store was a fabulous experience. read more

I was directed to Vicky's Fabrics by my conceirge when I asked about Hawaiian fabric. I was overwhelmed by the selection, so much so that I really couldn't decide. Until I saw a quilt in the window and Maille told me she had it as a kit!! I bought it, never having made a quilt before. I live in NY. Maille estimated the amount of fabric I'd need for the backing (and she was right). I needed a little extra fabric for the edging and my husband wanted an island shirt made out of one of the fabrics. I contacted Maille and she mailed the fabrics quickly. She is wonderful, the place is wonderful. I am hoping to get back to HI someday and will definately make Vicky's a destination stop. I shared some of the fabrics with friends who worked with Maille to get more fabric for their own quilts. This is an unbelievable store. Customer service could've been better being that I was the only customer in the store. When I asked for assistance on finding something I got a finger pointed in the direction and had to find it myself. I only purchased the fabric because the quality was great and I absolutely loved the print that I've never seen anywhere else before. read more
