The chicken biryani and naan is great. Other than that, I'm not a fan. But still, 5 stars for convenient well priced fresh chicken biryani.

Great prices and the proportions are so large that I got two more meals out of it. The flavours are very authentic and delicious. I loved being able to watch one of the owners roll out the naan in the back. I also felt good after eating the food because it is light. The owners were very patient, and catered to the customers very respectfully in front of us who kept asking a million questions. They even had another staff member come out to hurry the line. However, the tables and design of the restaurant make it look a bit sketchy. The atmosphere doesn't seem to fit the restaurant, but the food is a hit so it makes up for it. read more

Let me start off by saying that am not super experienced when it comes to Indian cuisine. That being said PG was delish. It was clean. The tv played a Bollywood movie. The food was great, portion sizes were good, prices seemed reasonable. The owner/operators were what really topped it off. They were so warm and pleasant! They offered suggestions and samples to make sure I chose something I loved. They told us about the importance of real, natural ingredients in their food and how important it is to keep their food healthy and authentic. Clearly they care, which is refreshing! This is a review for a party of two. We were here a little past noon on a weekday, the place was not busy. We are very familiar with this kind of ethnic food. The curries that we got were goat, butter chicken marsala, yellow daal lentils, and paneer butter masala. The curry portions were very small. The meat curries only had three small cubes of meat per curry. We were given a generous amount of rice and two slices of naan bread. We took one bite out of our naan bread and tasted like soot. Looking at the bottom of the naan bread, it was all black. I walked up to the cashier with our naan and asked for new bread, explaining that they were burnt and showing the black bottom. They told me they would get me new bread so I threw mine away. A few minutes later, I was confronted by a manager asking me what was wrong with the bread. I told him that the bread was burnt. He told me that I needed to show the employees the bread. Next he came back with another piece of naan bread and told me this is how they cook their naan bread. He said that his bread is not made with eggs which is why they all turn out black on the bottom. This is the most ridiculous excuse I've heard. I should have asked him to eat that piece of burnt cardboard. After that, he kept repeating if we wanted the naan to not look like the bottom of a pan, they can make it raw and under cook it for us. We found this person to be very rude. It was unnecessary to say it more than three times. We refused to eat anymore of the bread and got more rice as a substitute. I wish we had taken a picture of the bread before trying to exchange it. I thought my curries were pleasantly spiced, not overwhelming but flavorful. I enjoyed the Marsala rice. For the price however, I would much rather go to other Indian restaurants in Frederick that are equally tasty and at a greater value. -- Edit: Apparently, the owner was not told the right story. I waited in line to show the cashier the naan; we had both gotten half naan and half rice and all four pieces of naan were burnt. The cashier agreed that the naan looked burnt and said it would be replaced, so I went back (I did throw the naan into the trash on my way) to eat my meal. I didn't just put it out there that I was very knowledgeable about Indian food, I was asked by the manager over and over, condescendingly, if I had ever even eaten Indian food before. They certainly did replace my naan with extra white rice, but I would never recommend a friend or anyone else to eat here when this is how they deal with customer grievances. read more

This restaurant has great authentic Indian food,. It is wonderful for vegetarians and also for vegans and for non-veggies. They have a wide variety of food for you to choose from, freshly prepared and always very flavorful and tasty. The dining room is spacious and set up in such a way that you can get your food and lounge like you're in a friends living room. I got the pick two with rice. Added their naan bread which I think they do with a wheat flour? Unsure. Ginger chicken was one choice and the butter Chana Masala was the other. I enjoyed everything, the rice was somewhat hard but softens when put in meat sauces. I should have gotten Jasmine rice. The naan was goooood but I'm not sure you can get it wrong. I will continue to frequent their establishment for Indian food. I will try the tandoori grill chicken next time but the color was off from every other type of tandoori chicken I've seen. Red color is what I'm used to. If anyone from Padmini's curry grill reads this, I've tried stuffed naan before so if you can add some stuffed naan breads it would be a nice addition. This is by far our favorite restaurant in Frederick. Love love love the food! We do carry out from here at least 3 times a week. Our 2 favorite dishes are the chicken butter masala and the potato curry light- can't get enough of it! They make all the Naan fresh.. Great staff and wonderful owners- they always make sure you get what you want. When you go the first time they give samples of everything so you can decide what you like. Price is very reasonable and the food is filling. Great thing is they try to make everything very healthy. Sometimes you do have to wait if they've run out of a dish- but it's always worth the wait. Put this on your must try, you won't be disappointed. read more

The service is good but very slow so just expect that coming into it and you won't be disappointed. The staff is very personable and friendly so that makes up for it some. I tried the Pick 2 meal which comes with 2 curry selections, rice and naan (extra for both). I had the Butter Chicken, Spicy Chicken, and Chicken Masala Rice. All were very good, the curries were fairly spicy (toned down a little for American tastes) with rich, flavorful sauce and the flavor of the slow cooked chicken nicely permeating the sauce. The naan was cooked in a tandoor and had the flavor you can only get by doing so. The rice was also very good and a nice that it had the masala chicken in it. I spent a year and a half eating curry and Pakistani food overseas (no offense to the owners but it's pretty much the same) and this food was very authentic with a traditional flavor that's hard to find around here. They will also let you sample the other curries and I tried the potato curry and daal curry and both were also very good. On my next visit I'm looking forward to trying their tandoori chicken or maybe the chicken biryani. Also, there a plenty of vegan options if that's your thing. read more

We came across this place after a shopping trip to the Monocacy Walmart. It was a great find. We were offered lots of samples of the food, and all were tasty. I told the owner I am a Vegan, so he made a special order for me of one of their dishes, but they did offer other vegan options. My husband ordered different foods than I did, and we were both satisfied. We bought the chicken kabobs with biryani rice for our daughter who was at home, and she also enjoyed it. We did find whole cardamom pods in her dish, but that was one of the reasons her food tasted so good, and she knew not to eat it. We will come back again. My wife and I stopped in on whim, and we were more than pleasantly surprised. This is casual, fast food style, so don't come here expecting "fancy" or table service. However, if you want delicious, freshly made food that is every bit as good as an expensive Indian restaurant this is a great choice. The two of us ate very well for less than a McDonalds meal. My wife had the dal lentils and the spicy chicken- both were delicious and flavorful. We sampled all of the offerings & I opted for the ginger chicken and the butter chicken- really tasty. Went here on a whim a few months ago. I was really impressed by this place. The owners are really polite and very helpful. They offer you lots of samples. Which is really nice because they have a lot of choices. Everything is made fresh no preservatives or any of that junk. Which is really nice if you are looking for something healthy. I just moved to the area and wondered if there were any Indian restaurants close by. There aren't too many compared to the Germantown area. I was pleasantly surprised how close this place was to my house. The service was excellent! You order at the counter and pick what you want. The young lady behind the counter asked if it was my first time here (which it was) and she let me sample one of everything that was displayed! I was afraid to order something that I had never had, but sampling is encouraged. She explained everything to me, the flavors, and said there are no preservatives. They don't have a huge menu, but it satisfies my fix for the flavors! It's very casual seating inside with some brightly colored tables and chairs.
