Old Chocolate Walnut cookie
Diamond N.

Third time here today. Tried an ensaymada for the first time ever and boy oh boy! What a treat! Currently enjoying it as I type this review. Got the one with cheese. Yummy yum! They gave me an old ahh cookie today though, so that was disappointing.

Sea Salt Chocolate Chip

Soooo good! I've always gone to the fountain valley location but first time at this location and it's pretty small so not much seating available. The cookies are amazing and delicious as always. The drinks were good as well - matcha can be on the sweeter side but you can reduce it. The staff were friendly and answered all our questions.

Portuguese Egg Tart
Anna H.

This is one of my professors' favorite places to get Portuguese egg tarts, so obviously my friends and I needed to check it out. I can see why he loves it -- the egg tarts are very custardy and rich, with a lightly eggy flavor but the sweetness from heavy cream in each bite contrasting to the flaky crust. We also got the red velvet cheesecake, which was pretty standard. The strawberry and cream cookie was massive and I loved the strawberry flavor! It was a little too sweet for me but for the average American palette is probably perfect. There's a parking lot but pretty limited seating (that gets a lot of sun), so plan on taking it to go unless you want to casually borrow a table next door...

Vietnamese coffee

Writing a third 5-star review because: 1. These cookies never miss, 2. I'm loving the new, seasonal drinks, and 3. LeeRon provides the best service. He is a gem. Let's talk about number 3 now. LeeRon consistently goes above and beyond with service. He's kind, welcoming, patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly customer-focused. Shoutout to LeRon for being the best, and shoutout to Paderia for continuing to deliver with delicious treats.

Cookies

I have always wanted to pick up cookies from this place for my husband but they're so expensive! At least $6.50 each!! I picked up two - cookies & cream and the chocolate walnut, and they did not disappoint! The service was so wonderful, and the staff were helpful in my selection. The shop is so cute (credit card only!), and there's plenty of parking behind the shop. Definitely won't be a regular stop just given the price but it was a delicacy for sure!

Strawberry Horchata
Kassandra S.

Came to this coffee shop to check it out! Met with a kind cashier who knew a lot about their menu & food They had samples of a chocolate & peanut butter cookie that was delicious! Their food typically runs out/ sells out later in the day. Their drinks are phenomenal! They make their horchata in house and I've never had a better one It's not too sweet, not too watery, has great flavor. The ambiance is quiet. There isn't really any searing inside or outside, more of a stop & go I will definitely go again to try their other drinks!

Love Paderia! Was in the area for brunch and needed to grab some cookies for a small get together I was having later and got there just in time before they sold out from some of the cookies. I had been to some of the OC locations and was so happy to see how much parking was available here! The place was packed from the second I walked in and service was so great! My favorite cookie place ever!

Banana Matcha Latte and Banana Pudding
Sherry P.

One of the few places in West LA that serves banana pudding, amazing banana pudding! I just wish there were a bit more banana bits like some others I've had in the past. Great flavor and size though! The banana matcha was ok, not as much fresh banana flavor as I've had in the past, and the matcha isn't as fragrant and strong as I like. I would come back for the banana pudding! Pretty ambience and nice staff.

Ube cheesecake -- skip it. We've had many great ube cheesecakes elsewhere (Cafe 86, for example), and this one didn't compare. It tasted more like a floral essence than ube, and the ube flavor was barely there. We didn't even finish it, which was disappointing for $8.75. The cheese ensaymada had good flavor, but the bread itself was very dry and not fluffy like a traditional ensaymada. It's hard to overlook the dryness for $5.25. The ube coconut latte was really good. If I'm in the area again, I'd come back for drinks only. $8.00 for large The staff were super nice, and there's parking and a restroom nearby, which is convenient.

Vietnamese coffee
Lydia S.

First and foremost Leeron is super duper friendly and very helpful. 1st time there and i seriously needed a pick me up and ordered the Vietnamese coffee, needless to say coffee not only was it delicious and sure delivered the kick I needed to go on about my day. Totally recommend. I tried the strawberry and cream cookie yum! Will definitely be back!

Years later, still coming here for the egg tarts. Tried the new dark chocolate pistachio latte and was pleasantly surprised. Staff is super helpful and friendly!

Pineapple black iced tea. Not sweet with strong black tea flavor
Joann K.

It's a little hard to find but cute little bake/coffee shop. They have lots of free parking and 2 outdoor seating (non inside) I got the pineapple iced tea, had a strong black tea flavor with real pinalppe chunks inside. Also got a vanilla latte which was pretty good. Tried a sample of thier chocolate peanut butter cookie, it was really good. Would definitely come back for the cookies and coffee.

Mexican hot chocolate cookie
Jeronimo J.

This bakery is always one of my go to spots. Everything is delicious and staff is always nice and very happy to help. The Mexican hot chocolate cookie is one of the best cookies I've had in LA I just wish it stayed permanently or comes back for Christmas it sucks having to wait for October each year but it's worth the wait. P.S the Vietnamese iced coffee is 100% worth it.

Came here on a Saturday with a friend around 9 am and want to say we waited for about 30 minutes. We decided to try three items (ranked from favorite to least): - Pistachio Lemon Croissant: This was delicious! If you like pistachios and/or a twice-baked croissant, get this. I'd go back and order it again happily. - Cinnamon roll: It looked a little dry so I was skeptical when we chose it, but it was actually really good! The filling made it still moist even though it's croissant dough (I think?) vs a broiche. - Blueberry scone: This looked amazing, but it was so dry. A real disappointment, we threw it away. Overall a good spot but not everything is a hit. I'd go back if a friend wanted to and happily eat the croissant. However, if in a time crunch I'd go elsewhere.

She took me here. The place was very clean and tidy with a lot of different types of sweet treats. I was there for one thing only. I did ask the gal working if they were made that day and she said yes. We ordered a raspberry, an orange, a coffee bean and the popular mango. This was my 2nd time trying these and our hopes were high BUT the raspberry was just awful the filling was strange and it had just raspberry jam inside,I dint eat it. The mango was okay so we shared that. The coffee bean was just awful as well so we didn't finish that either. The orange was the best of the group but overall just a disappointing experience once again because these are not cheap. I'm starting to think I might just have to give up my journey to find these although there are some places in Vegas that look promising. I don't think Reno has any bakeries that make these. They look so beautiful but the taste is a let down.

Chef Yang Soon began developing the reimagined classic Helms Bakery twelve years ago but could not have anticipated the huge changes that were to hit the dining landscape with the Covid pandemic. The decline of going out / dining out, changes in spending habits and the rise of delivery services made this Art Deco styled concept bakery financially unsustainable. Helms has a fascinating history. In 1932 their bread, Olympic Bread, was declared the official bread of the Olympic Games. This led to worldwide recognition. Delivery wagons, or coaches, brought bread, doughnuts and other baked goods to Angelenos' homes with their slogan, "Daily at Your Door." Helms was the bread that astronauts in Apollo 11 took to the moon. World Famous. All well-crafted and extremely delicious in my opinion. I will miss this place tremendously. I sincerely hope that Chef makes good on opening a Helms bakery in another location in the near future.
