My husband, daughter and I stayed here for a little getaway and it was just what we needed. We chose to stay in the A-framed cabin on the beach. It was very private, peaceful and a short walk to the beach. It was clean, comfortable and perfect for what we needed. We will definitely be back! read more

My daughter and I stayed in the new section of the Pacific Reef on the recomendation of the staff at the Tu Tu Tun Lodge where were hoping to get a room but they were full. We were VERY pleasantly surprised. Although from the other review below it sounds like these rooms are at least a couple of years old, they seemed brand new and the room still smelled slightly of the beautiful leather headboards of the two queen beds. The view was gorgeous, the room and balcony large, and lots of amenities in the room such as microwave, and small fridge with a tiny freezer. The bedding was crisp and clean and the flat screen tv was huge (48"?). Other poster mentioned the siren at 10:30pm. We heard it on just one night of our two night stay but at 2:00am in the morning! Kind of a bummer but it didn't last long and we went right back to sleep. Continental breakfast is simple but satisfactory and the staff is friendly and helpful. We still want to try the Tu Tu Tun Lodge as it looks amazing but will not hesitate to stay here again and recommend to others. read more

Condos were amazing, clean and new. Great for families with lots of space. They were 3 years old and had a great homey feeling. All the amenities including kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. Great sounds of the ocean and staff was super friendly. I would definitely recommend staying in the condos of this hotel and would stay again. Make sure you ask for extra towels when you check in. read more

We got the condo and booked it one night before we got there. At $200/night, it was a tad pricey... unless you consider how much the many "dive" places in the area which charge $100-175/night. I would say that based on what I saw, this is BY FAR the best place to stay in the area. The condo was a two story condo and it was IMMACULATE. Further, the maids were incredible. Many places that have full furnished kitchens will not clean up your dishes. Some won't even change towels/sheets every day if you're in a condo. They went above and beyond. I am so glad I chose this place. I would highly recommend it to anyone. read more

Came is as late minute as it gets.. Great friendly staff recommended we stay is the cottage since no one was staying in it that night. We loved it!! Nice little A-Frame all by its self super close to the ocean. No Wifi in it but that didn't bother us. read more

Inexpensive but clean with decent amenities. It's also right on highway 101, so it's easy to find.

Oooh. Wonderful staff and nice rooms. Clean, spacious and reasonably priced. Nice spa.

The BEST place to stay in Gold Beach! We arrived to a fantastic, spotless, two-level, ocean view, suite! Balcony from our bedroom as well as an open patio downstairs - perfect for a walk down to the beach! We were there in September and the rates were so reasonable! read more

Great spot, reasonably priced, super friendly staff, free movies, moments walk to the beach, loved finding this gem in gold beach!

Pretty disappointed with our ocean view hotel room, even though the view is great. According to the manager it's a schizophrenic property with some units having been remodeled, the $250 a night rooms, and others not. We reserved the unremodeled ocean view room apparently, turns out the bathrooms are from the 1950's complete with plastic shower insert with a shower head that my 6'2" husband had to squat down to shower under. No disclaimer or pictures on the website about this when we reserved, everything looks gorgeous on there. Two most important things in a hotel are the bed and the shower, the view does nothing for me if you can't even stand up and take a shower! I've seen nicer bathrooms at Motel 6! The part that really grinds my gears is that they have this ridiculous outdoor theater screen that they show Mamma Mia montages on, complete with a light show, yet you can't afford to replace a shower stall? read more

My boyfriend I and I stopped here just to stay over night unfortunately. I wish we had planned to stay there at least a couple Nights. The room is beautiful with your own back porch and rocking chairs under the stars. The beach is right there so I could listen to the waves from inside our room and on the porch. I would highly recommend this place! read more

Loved loved this place, staff was friendly the rooms are clean and the beds were soooo comfortable. The view of the beach was awesome. Walking down the little path to watch the sunsets was breath taking. Would stay here again and again. read more

Really outdated dank miserable room! We stayed in the A-frame unit. It is nothing like what you see in their photos. The room is very, very tiny. I stayed there with my husband and we could barely move around the room with our luggage. In addition to being cramped, the room had a strong dank odor of mildew and was very dark and poorly lit with really outdated furnishings. The window blinds were broken (actual pieces of the blinds were broken off). The main floor bed is smaller than advertised; it is actually a full bed and not a queen and the mattress is very worn with poking springs. The loft is a joke; I am not sure if even a child could fit up there, but it also didn't look safe. Unlike seen in the photos, there is no view because trees and bushes have grown up in front, blocking any sight of the ocean. There is very limited hot water for showering; if one person takes a short shower, the next person will be left with cold water. There is a large outdoor movie screen that projects an on-going vivid light show directly into the windows of the room at night, making it impossible to relax or sleep. (By the way, the outdoor movie screen does not show actual movies, only movie trailers.) We complained to the front desk that the room was not at all like described or pictured online and they agreed that the information online was not accurate, but said there was nothing they could do about it; there was also nothing they could do about the blaring lights from the movie projection screen, the lack of hot water, or broken blinds. In general, the front desk was very unhelpful and not friendly in the least. We had the most miserable experience possible. If we hadn't traveled a long way to get there and had a jet boat trip booked, we would have left and not gone through the trauma of staying in this horrible place (but there was no other place in town with vacancy at the last minute); I mean it was really one of those experiences that you have nightmares about for a longtime trying to forget that you actually had to pay quite a bit to touch their gross furnishings and breath in their mildewy air. In the end we were comp'd one night of our three night stay & I feel sick that I had to pay anything for such a horrible experience, but even it had been completely free, it still would not have been remotely worth the stay. We don't recommend staying in their A-frame unit to anybody. read more

Mikey at the reception desk was great! He let me check out the rooms before deciding if this is where we were going to stay. Rooms were clean, view is AMAZING! Even though it was in the dead of winter. They offer a screening of some sort that we could've watch from the back patio (if we were in our rooms at the time of showing). Will definitely stay here again when in the area! read more

We did get one of the last rooms available in the new building. It was worth the extra $30 for the ocean view. We got to watch the sunset from our balcony--beautiful. The room was like a 5 star hotel room - the place was immaculate! The reason I'm only giving 4 of 5 stars is that the free breakfast could have been better. There was cereal, yogurt and toast. I'm used to having more choices, like french toast, eggs, pancakes, etc. The front desk and breakfast room staff were extremely pleasant. The front desk did warn us about the potential sirens going off. She said that their is a 911 siren next door that if anyone calls for help, it goes off. It did not go off the night we stayed, but I was glad she mentioned it. The staff did say the next phase of renovations is the older strip motel section. They also own the closed restaurant in front that they plan to get reopened. It seems the new owners are on track to revive this place. If the renovations come out like the new building, this place will be 5 stars! read more

After making prior reservations, via the internet. I came hundreds of miles to find that my reservation had been pushed out (not even sure how this can happen) and I was forced to find another hotel at the last minute, (thank you Gold Beach Resort). The same thing happened this evening except that I had walked the few blocks with my pet to make sure of my reservation this morning and the clerk at that time was helpful, apologetic and said that I could take the cottage. This was apparently in error, and after unpacking, taking a walk and then a much needed nap I was called by the manager to inform me that my pet was not allowed in the cottage, they had no other rooms so my pet and I would need to leave. After explaining my booking fiasco that I had already been through, to my complete surprise I was told it was my fault for using the internet, my pet and I were absolutely not allowed and to get out of the hotel. Seriously? At this further attack, I asked the manager too call the police which she refused and then informed me to step outside as she locked the lobby door on my dog and I in front of other customers both inside and out. Fortunately, I had my cell phone in my pocket and I was able to contact the police who came and dealt with the unreasonable manager who chose to call the police after she watched me through the glass stating that I had harassed other customers (as I was calmly explaining to the van full of potential customers why I was locked outside). I was forced to find other accommodations for the evening and after unsuccessfully asking help from the chamber of commerce the next morning I left Gold Beach never to come back. Update: response from Pacific Reef; doesn't give me back the 3 days of peace and relaxation I so desperately needed. Gene Pranger, Owner at Pacific Reef Resort - Gold Beach, responded to this review August 14, 2012 I'm sorry that you couldn't stay at Pacific Reef but we do not allow pets in most of our rooms. This standard cannot be amended due to travelers who are allergic to animals. You are more than welcome to reserve a pet room in the future by contacting the front desk prior to making your reservation. Safe travels. read more

Used to be a great place to stay and looked forward to staying again this weekend. Apparently, there is a "new" manager and staff and they are FAR less inviting or warm in demeanor and tone. The place is no longer enjoyable and I no longer recommend this hotel. I made a reservation on Sunday for this coming Saturday. I have a gift certificate that I bought through KTVU and wanted to use it with the family before summer, and the certificate, expired. After explaining to the desk clerk on Sunday, he said that without the Manager he did not know how to apply the G.C. to the room, but will promise to have the manager or himself call me Monday. Even after making a PAID IN FULL reservation for an upgraded room, I did not receive a phone call from the manager on Monday, as promised, regarding how I apply the gift certificate. No phone call Tuesday. No phone call Wednesday. So by lunchtime, I begin to call... 3 times the phone is answered and goes directly to hold with ZERO sound or greeting. 3 times I call back and finally get Meagan on the line. I ask about the phone lines and she has no idea and doesn't seem to care. I re-explain why I am having to call back and she seems to know who I am, but just asks me to hold. Long story short, she made it sooooo excruciatingly tedious and painful to even try to accommodate a gift certificate FOR THEIR HOTEL, that I chose to cancel my paid reservation and eat the gift certificate with steak sauce rather than give that hotel one more of my dollars or one more minute of my life. Too bad for Meagan being so eager to oblige when I requested to cancel my PAID reservation. It used to be a really friendly place. read more

As a random side of the road motel, it was okay but overpriced. The room was tiny, bed was ok, bathroom kind of outdated, my room didn't have any view, some kind of weird poolhouse that I didn't use and not much more. My issue was that I was on crutches, and stopped there before making a booking online to see if I they had rooms I could get into easily. They showed me that there were older rooms right next to parking. I then told the older woman who works there I was about to book it online and she said "NO! Don't book online! Then I will get charged a fee and lose my commission" I was like, uh sorry, I always book online, because I get rewards. (as well as the ability to get help if the room turns out horrible) She went back in, then two minutes later ran back out to my car and told me "Actually, you can't get the empty room that we just showed you if you book online. The computer won't let you! You'll get one with stairs." She was obviously, so concerned about "her commission" that she was willing to come out to my car, lie straight to someone disabled and threaten that I couldn't have a room on the first floor , to pressure me into just paying her directly. It was so clearly a lie with an ulterior motive as the rooms on the upper floors they had already explained to me were newly renovated, had views etc, and cost more, so that couldn't have been the one I was seeing online for $75, besides there were only like 5 cars at the whole hotel. I had already hit the book button, I would have driven away after her obnoxious behavior and stayed elsewhere but it was too late. I went in to the office, and caught in her lie, she just kind of sulked while a younger woman clicked something in the computer and I had the room I booked (funny how that instantly worked). I acted like everything was cool, stayed the night and left, wish I had never stopped there and just went to the place next door that looked better. Pretty sketchy and incredibly unprofessional to try to demand people not use websites/apps. I wouldn't have even known their dumpy motel existed as I drove down the highway without that app so.... read more

Both rooms we booked reeked of toxic mold. It was too late to change hotels and I had already pre-paid so we stayed. I woke up with a head-ache and sore throat and couldn't get out of there soon enough. The decor is tacky and cheap, also, The worst motel I have stayed in--a real dive. I told the managers in the morning about the situation with toxic mold fumes but they acted like they could care less. Rude managers, too. Horrible place. Pay thirty bucks extra and stay somewhere cleaner and with fresher air. read more

We stayed here at the beginning of a month long RV trip, early July 2017. It was a 'night off' from camping. What a cool little set up here - we stayed in some of the newer condos nearer to the beach. The rooms were nice, just open the sliding door to erase any stale beach smells. What really blew us away was the outdoor theater they have setup. The nightly movie is custom made to tell you about Gold Beach and its absolutely perfectly done. I'm a tech consultant and was floored by the design and execution of the outdoor theater. And that fit perfectly with the surroundings and then the content, the actual movie they showed, was a beautiful piece of local cinema. Totally floored by it. read more

This place is a winner for sure, the girl at the front desk is super sweet! Finding a place that has friendly and welcoming staff goes a long way in my book. The lobby was clean, they have a selection of dvds to watch if interested. We stayed in an upstairs condo, very clean inside, nicely decorated and cozy. The entire back wall is floor to ceiling windows with a private balcony overlooking the ocean. The balcony has two rocking chairs and a small table. It is prefect for watching the sunset or drinking coffee in the morning! It was so nice to open the door in the morning and just listen to the waves crashing on the beach. This place offers free wifi, has a koi pond, hot tub and private trail to the ocean. There is a clam chowder restaurant just in front of the hotel, $10 off breakfast for staying in a room! And inside the hotel brochure I picked up at the front desk there is a coupon for a free cup of clam chowder! I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it to my friends and family. read more

Dog friendly (always a plus) hotel that has oceanfront rooms, very friendly staff and clean, updated facilities. If you aren't a dog person, fear not, they only allow pets in certain pre-determined rooms. I would recommend splurging for an oceanfront room, worth the upgrade. Came here for Christmas 2017 and have recommended this location to many friends and family members. This part of the Oregon Coast is breathtaking. read more

WOWZERS!! We (Me, my girl & our lil dog) drove all the way from Bowen Island BC, Canada on an X-mas road trip to Studio City, CA. We looked online for cool ocean front places to stay in Oregon along the coast and Pacific Reef popped up on Google. We started to look into types of rooms available and stumbled across the A-frame room thats pretty much all by itself, closer to the ocean & away from the actual connected suites up top. This place is so incredibly cool and private, that you actually feel like you're all on your own! We can walk out of the front door and have our feet in the ocean within less than 3 minutes. The sites and sounds of the ocean are more than your eyes can handle. There is an outdoor theatre that we are going to go check out this evening. The theatre looks super modern and cool, cant wait to see it. If you want great food, then connected to the Pacific Reef is their Chowder House. Delicious diner type food, Fish & Chips, Fudge, & a delicious local beer we tried from ArchRock Brewery (after our dinner we went for a 5min drive to the actual brewery to buy a few Beer growlers for xmas gifts). We have not only fallen in love with Gold Beach, Oregon but we have also fallen in love with the A-frame room at Pacific Reef. It's out of this world! Highly Recommend. Thank you to whomever made & thought up this piece of paradise. So grateful. read more

This place had a good location and is easy to find but that is it. The front desk help is awful and they do not go above and beyond. The rooms were okay but the bathroom was not clean! read more

Great room at a great price! I had a great view of the beach and their new theater. There are good places to eat within walking distance and the staff was very helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. The king sized bed was very comfortable. I loved sitting out on our balcony and watching the waves in the comfortable rocking chair. The hotel also shows a short film at night about the Gold Beach area, which was very entertaining and a great wrap up to the night. read more

Anther nice place to stay in Gold Beach. The staff is courteous, helpful. The reason for 4 star is beds are not as comfy as they could be. Nice view for sure. read more

Okay...so I thought this place would be great...we had a family unit. We opened the door and it had to be way over 100 degrees in there. No AC and most windows do NOT open. Third floor and the sun beats in the huge windows. We had a 1 year old baby with us. We checked in at around 6 pm and when the front desk brought in 3 fans to try to cool it down. It cooled around 11pm. We checked out at 7am. The room would have been great...no offer of any reductions because of this..??? What?? read more

This "Resort" was very far from being a Resort. Our room was very out dated, holes in the wall, a fuse box, rusty door, no air conditioner, and a moldy shower. The office staff was very friendly but the maids were very unkind to say the least, they did not like giving out extra towels. I would never stay here again; pay a little more and stay at the best western next door. read more

What a find! Clean room, good bed, excellent shower, and nice linens. We booked on Hotels.com and got a great rate. We'll be back!

I called to book a reservation and the front desk did not tell me that the WiFi was not working (and had not been working for two days). I discovered this after failed attempts to connect in the room. Internet access is a standard hotel offering nowadays so not informing potential customers is dishonest. read more

Will not return!! I have family that lives in Gold Beach and have stayed at Pacific Reef twice. We've usually been treated well and while the hotel could use some upgrading it was reasonable, clean, and friendly. We are preparing to visit again and a family member went into check on rates and room availability. She was greeted with snide remarks, outrageous room quotes and was told that we were lucky they would let us buy a room there if we were related to any of the local people there! What?! How f$&@ing rude and stupid can you be??! I am happily booked at a competing hotel and looking forward to our stay there. What ignorant, rude staff they have working there! read more

Nice room with a great view of the beach. The front desk staff was a pleasure to deal with!

I rarely write reviews but after a magical in the middle of the week two days in Gold Beach at the Pacific Reef Resort I have to hold forth and encourage more folks to hopefully have an even better time that we did. Not only magnificently appointed ( for the price it was great surprise) with granite countered kitchen outfitted down to a parmesan crater, to private upstairs with king bed, elegant curtains, entertainment centre, ...all tastefully done......not only all of this but also our Condo 6 had the perfect view of the graceful Gold Beach sand dunes and the Pacific Ocean. What could be better than to search for agate on a private beach, cook some wild salmon, have a great bottle of wine and enjoy the splendid sunset from our deck ( weather.com helped guarantee some sun for the two days/nights of our stay.) The staff was caring and accommodating. ( one of us had a minor medical issue and a trip to the local medical center was instantly arranged and proved effective, fast and economic.) The restaurant next door in progress was of interest as we are restaurant owners in Ashland Oregon....and Deborah the manager of the resort showed us about and it promises to be the final great touch to not only Pacific Reef Resort but to the area that needs 'new story' food. The working title in the Pacific Reef Crab House...and promises high quality modern seafood offerings in snappy high quality designed interior with gift shop, counter and wait service options. We look forward to attending the grand opening around Valentine's Day 2012! Thank you Pacific Reef Resort for a memorable time-out...for all of the suggestions where to go in the area....and for making us feel happy to have found you. Best wishes for continued success at Pacific Reef read more

Took a trip from Washington to California driving the 101. Without a doubt, Pacific Reef Resort was the best "on the beach" place we stayed. 3.5 stars, but that's not an option. We stayed in an upper floor condo for two nights. The people at the front desk are very casual, not necessarily in a good way, but fine. The condos had no elevator, so be prepared to drag your stuff up a set of stairs if you're upstairs. The rooms are...fine. Furniture shows some wear and the bed sinks in a lot. The bed frame sticks out from the mattress a lot and I kept running into it, I have multiple shin bruises from it. I was practically falling off my side of the bed so I had to shove a pillow under the mattress. The bathrooms are fine, not fancy. It looked like the bottle of conditioner had been dropped in the sand then wiped off--there was still sand in the edges around the flip top (we tossed it). Refrigerator was really, really loud, so we unplugged it (and then couldn't use it), but we had to sleep. We could hear our neighbors banging around both nights and it would have been an issue if I didn't have my white noise maker with me. The daily nighttime movie about the history of Oregon that blares from behind the condos is extremely loud. The ocean is quite a ways away from the condos, there was a building and some roads between us and the beach. Overall, it's not worth the high prices they charge, but it is the best place to stay on the beach in Gold Beach as far as I can tell. (I would have shared these things at check out or through a comment card, but they didn't ask me how my stay was, just asked if I had the receipt from checking in and sent me on my way.) read more

We stayed in one of the newer ocean Luxury King Rooms on the first floor, room #121. Unfortunately I have to give this hotel a low rating because of the strong bed smell in the room and the large stains on the thick shaggy carpet. This is the only hotel on our Oregon road trip that I have rated low. Right after seeing the room, I have asked the lady at the reception to change the room, but she informed me that they had no vacant rooms. I highly recommend to the hotel management to replace the carpet and remove the bad smell. On the other hand, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom nice, the staff was friendly and the view of the ocean from the patio was nice, although quite a distance away. The breakfast was quite limited. I have not seen the interior of the other rooms, so I don't know if the smell and stains are unique for room #121 or a problem in other rooms too. If you book directly with the property at 1-800-808-7263, you can get a $ 10 discount. Gold Beach is quite a sleepy town, but it is close to beautiful beaches on the coast going south toward Brookings. read more
