Payal at the front desk is an ANGEL!! We checked into Harbor Inn extremely last minute, extremely late at night, following mishaps at a different hotel which we had originally booked for the night of June 21. Were it not for Payal answering our desperate phone call, we would have had to sleep in our car. The motel itself is decently kept -- it shows its age, but it is clean and has everything you need for a quick stay. While the building isn't a 5-star experience, the service certainly IS, and we will remember this place fondly. Thank you Payal. read more

The office staff was friendly. The room was very basic, but mostly clean & updated. (Except the carpet-bare feet = dirty feet) The only downside was the location on a highway intersection, traffic sounds all night. Not particularly walking distance to much as far as food or the beach, but, for the reasonable price, it's within a short drive of the harbor, shopping, restaurants & parks. read more

The front desk service was great! It all went down hill once I made my way to my room. The people staying in the room next to me had groups of people in and out and they could all be clearly heard yelling in the room and in the parking lot. At one point one of their guests was banging on my door yelling at me to let him in. Another guest left their door open and every time I would leave the room her dog would start barking and chasing me. The inside of the room was fine. There was dirt inside the door, no peephole cover, no deadbolt, and did not shut all of the way. The AC unit plug is frayed and looks concerning. There was rust colored splotched all along the bottom of the wall, the window was paper thin. Some interesting stains on the throw pillows, stick substance on the table and the floor was sticky. The guests before me were kind enough to leave some ice cream in the freezer. All of the towels and bedding were damp and musty. The mattress and pillow were surprisingly very comfortable, but overall, I felt very unsafe during my stay. read more

First room we checked into was still dirty from previous guest. Second room had dead bugs on floor. Dirt smudged on linen. Holes in wall. Housekeeping smoking cigarettes outside of our open window and noticeable gaps under door when closed, probably where bugs came from. Bed bug signs in bed but no bedbugs found. (I travel for work and first thing I do before even taking bags in room is pull up sheets and check for signs. Found droppings and symptoms but no actual bugs to be clear. Great staff in the office she was very understanding and after walking into second room canceled our 2 night stay and moved down to brookings inn. Much better quality hotel. read more

My partner and I drove here from Portland for the jacuzzi suites. Unfortunately, their website is out of date and does not list their pet policies, which includes banning pets from jacuzzi suites. After explaining how long we drove and that it was my birthday, we were still given less than satisfactory customer service and a small room that looked nothing like what was advertised online, with none of the amenities listed. I also found a bug in the bathroom. I give this place 1 star only because 0 stars is not an option, and I recommend you consider elsewhere. read more

Harbor Inn - Disgusting bathrooms - Hotels Near Me - Brookings, Oregon

The have mixed feelings about this establishment. We booked this hotel because of the affordable rates and because the availability was lacking elsewhere. We stayed two nights, checking in on a Saturday afternoon and checking out on the following Monday morning. For starters, I will say that this hotel is very affordable. The Beachfront Inn across the street wanted over $200/ night just because they were close to the beach. It's not worth it the least bit, especially when you consider The Harbor Inn is only $80/night, and you can drive (or walk) to the same beach at Beachfront (less than a mile away). We had just spent $80 a couple days prior for a Motel 6 in Coos Bay, but that was the most basic room with zero amenities. The Harbor Inn provided soap, shampoo, lotion, and kitchenette features (a microwave and mini fridge that came in real handy). They also provide morning coffee in the office. The first night's stay was perfect with zero complaints. The Motel was packed with no vacancy, but still got great sleep with little disturbances. The bed was soft and comfy. The second night was not as smooth. There was a loud ass Mustang that must've dropped its muffler somewhere because it sounded like a diesel truck right out our window at 11:30 at night. Then there was someone staying upstairs who didn't sleep a wink all night, but instead paced across the floor from 1:00 - 5:00 am. These aren't issues that the motel really could have resolved, but more of an annoyance from their other customers. The only real complaint I have with the motel itself was the fact the staff took WAY too much of our time over their lack of understanding with their credit card processing. Our debit card apparently had a $200 daily limit (and no way to contact our bank over the weekend, which is a whole unrelated issue), so they had to split the transaction over two days, which became an absolute hassle (for them and us). Thankfully they got it squared away by checkout time and didn't send us away when we checked in. We will definitely be back next year, and will most likely stay here again. Only next time, we will pay in cash. Lol read more

Rude staff and horrible plumbing (disgusting!) Stayed here in late June and the toilet overflowed leaving the entire room covered in feces contaminated water. Absolutely a plumbing issue, unlike anything I've ever witnessed before and definitely a bigger issue than a clogged toilet. The water coming from the toilet would not stop flowing and this could not have possibly been caused by me. Many of my belongings were ruined in the mess. Staff was unimaginably rude about it. I called recently to ask for a refund due to how unpleasant the situation was and staff member Rosanna yelled at me on the phone, had a horrible attitude, blamed me when it was clearly an issue far surpassing anything that could have been my fault, threatened to bill me for it, and was overall extremely nasty when I was just trying to calmly communicate. Looking for a decent place to stay after a long road trip up the coast, we found this place. Very reasonable rates, clean, and pet friendly. Beds were comfortable, and the room smelled nice. The lady who checked us in later at night, around 8, was very nice and helpful. read more

When it comes to a motel, I don't ask for a whole lot. I just want a place that is clean and cheap. Harbor Inn is just that - clean and inexpensive. There's a microwave and fridge in each room, and the wireless is FAST. We can see the ocean from our room, but I don't think I'd consider it an "ocean view," but considering the price, I have zero complaints. Also, the motel is right across the street from Mattie's, a breakfast spot open from 6am! I would stay here again without hesitation. read more

My husband and I pulled in looking for a place to stay and were not expecting much from what seemed to be a simple motel. However, we were in for some very nice surprises. The first surprise was when we were checking in and the clerk asked if we were AAA or military. When the hear we were teachers, they were equally nice. do not waste your time or money at this motel I drove down from Portland for work had a room booked for me here and it was the worst experience I have ever had I left 20 minutes after checking into my room and here's just a few reasons why to start I walk up to the first room they put me in the front door was open I go in put my bags down sit down on the bed and it feels like the bed is going to fold in half then I try and turn the tv on and it turns itself right back off so then I go to look underneath of the bed to see if I can figure out if there's something missing as to why it feels like the bed wants to taco and as soon as I look underneath of the bed I find chip bags pop bottles food takeout containers and much more garbage so I go up to let the lady in the front office know and she switches me rooms (room 2) at least the door was closed on this one? The tv also worked well kind of as long as the only thing you wanted to watch was bated motel in black and white no other channels would come threw so then I decided I was just gonna just take a a shower and go to bed well I walk in the bathroom and there's mold all over the bathroom there was dirt or something all over the blankets and so I went up to let her know once again and this time she proceeded to tell me she doesn't know what to say thats all she has to work with her boss doesn't even know what the place looks like and that he is in India and won't let her fix anything on the building and that it took her 4 times to be able to pass OSHA and that she has no idea how there even still open at this point I decided that was enough for me and switched motels as I was walking out of the hotel room to leave I also watched the cleaning lady back into a trophy boat that was parked in the parking lot and then take off like it was nothing there's much much better motels in Brookings with comparable prices read more

Brown and non-potable water?? We came to Brookings from northern CA for a quick getaway and chose this hotel specifically for the hot tub. While the studio was nice and clean, with lots of kitchen amenities, we were very disappointed by the water issues that the staff failed to mention. The water was brown, it stained the white towels. We found out later that it was also non-potable, my husband and I drank it during our stay. When I asked the manager about it she said the lighting made the water look brown, I sent her pictures. I asked for a partial refund, she refused and said she would send a gift certificate which never came. Not worth the money if you can't even enjoy the hot tub you paid extra money for and a manager who doesn't care. read more

Sadly, our second time spending a full week here wasn't as good as the first. My diamond wedding band was taken even after instructing during online reservations that no staff needed to clean our room. My hands were swollen, and knowing there wouldn't be entry made, I left this ring right where it was placed the night before, got in car, drove 2 blocks to get my sister in law and right back to the room to get my ring. Imagine my surprise when we found maid service in the room. I was gone five whole minutes. RING GONE. My husband has asked to speak with the owner several times with no response. Hotel was exactly what I expected, simple and clean. the front desk however was unbelievable unhelpful. I wanted to arrive early but was informed that check in was at 1pm-fine. We arrived early and took the family crabbing, we had such a good time we stayed until we received a call from the desk with a huge attitude letting us know that they expected us at 1 and we had 15 min. To contact them or else essentially?! They had our credit card and checked guests in until 11pm so I was a bit confused about the obviously irritated clerk message when I would expect them to just charge the card if we didn't show up. When we arrived and settled in I went to the desk to ask for a referral for food to be picked up and the clerk informed us that she knew of absolutely nothing this time of night, it was 8:45 on a Saturday night, I was so surprised I said are you sure? Nothing? And she assured me quite exasperated that she was. I called the beach front best western as I walked out for a referral and had a crab and prime rib dinner ready to pick up in 20 min. This is your basic motel. Not much in Brookings unless you wanna pay $200 for the Best Western. The room and check in staff were fine. My gripe is with the other "guests". We had a bottom floor room right next to the office and had a family above us. Can you not let your kids run and jump on the beds before 9am as a common courtesy? Lady 2 doors down, can you not smoke in front of the rooms like the sign says? Guy, next door , you woke us up at 5am - to the sound of a diesel truck on for 30 minutes charging something in front of our room. How rude! Tried to call staff, but no answer, so no help. When it comes to motels, keep driving. The web site photo is taken from a far distance, why? The place has an odor, that hangs with you for days. Our room door locks were not completely working. The carpets, probably have not been clean, sense they were installed. The carpets age and odor, shown a dark filthy path around the beds and into the bathroom. Burned out light bulbs in the room. The small refrigerator, cycling and knocking all night, until I unplugged it. The wall heater cycles so much you could swear, it has seen as much service as the carpeting and refrigerator. The TV is smaller than the microwave, and limits viewing from the one 70's dated chair. I won't be back. read more

Terribly uncomfortable bed gave me an awful kinked neck and shoulder! They do not offer breakfast, they do not offer hot water for tea. They only have caffeinated coffee. They did give us about $20 lower rate when I called in and Kathy was nice which is why we booked the room. Unfortunately we won't stay here again. read more

We live in northern ca and were on our way home. To tired to make the last 3 hrs home. We tried every motel on the way through town. No pet rooms available. This was literally the last place in town. We did not expect much. We were happily surprised. The room was basic but clean. The staff was polite and helpful. 4 people 1 dog out the door for $87 with aaa discount of course. No low life's loitering like most inexpensive motels, no monthly tenants. We will definitely stay here again. read more

have been very pleased with my stay here. my bed id soft and comfy. the staff is very nice.i am logging over there and have been here for a month. Monday thru Thursday night. the rooms are very clean and I never have to be concerned with leaving anything out. they make the bed everyday and vacuum and clean. the shower has a good amount of water. not like others that just give you a mist. the motel is clean inside and out.I have only good things to say about my stay thus far. unlike other motel at the far north side of brookings. I would recommend the harbor inn motel to anyone based on my experience. read more
