What a gem! Clean, comfortable, friendly, nice furnishings and sweet location in the harbor. Bill-- at the front desk was helpful and accommodating! He even volunteered to watch over our laundry if we didn't return from dinner in time. The rooms are clean and fresh. The place looks new even though I know it's been there a while. There are extra pillows in the closet. Bed was comfy. For a while, with the balcony door slid open, we could enjoy the cool breeze and the pleasant sounding fog horn. (How can that be?) The small kitchen had a microwave, small fridge, toaster and coffee pot-- with a coffee packet; both decaf and normal. There will be no nasty surprises if you stay at the Portside Inn. And Bill, you're a credit to the hospitality world. read more

What a surprise to find this reasonably priced luxurious motel,it was one of the last ones in town but well worth the time spend finding it.Large kitchen and bedroom with an awesome jacuzzi bath!We stayed 3 days and enjoyed every minute! We made an impromptu trip to the coast on a holiday weekend not really planning on staying anywhere. Got later on us than expected so decided to see if we could get a room. Got the last one available here. Was close to the water as I always like. Room was pricier than I would have liked but was a pleasant surprise. Room was booked on line. Coming for a special occasion. Hoping to relax on the balcony with a "bay view" which was expressed while reserving. Was not aware that the view was of the "working harbor," which the front desk claims they mention during a phone reservation. The room is gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but the view (which is what I come for) is highly disappointing. Tried to get some compensation, discount, etc., but all they allowed was for us to cancel our second night. No loss to them because the room will be booked by someone else. read more

We accidentally found this place and it is a true treasure!! EXCELLENT price for an amazing suite. The room we were in was perfect. (Rm# 101) For one night, of a long journey, we felt like we were at home. We went to the local Thai food place brought our food back to our room and enjoyed. The bedroom had an amazing bed that allowed for a great nights sleep! There was a make-up area in the bedroom with a sink. In the bathroom (which was its own room) the tub was big and we did not have a jacuzzi room. I have to say that the towels were thick and fluffy and smelled AMAZING!! There was even a phone in the bathroom!! The "living area" was comfy and the furnishings were stylish. Great taste and definitely not typical hotel furnishings. This room was impeccably clean! The view was of the "working" port area and didn't bother us. We knew this when we checked in. $100 more a night, for a view down the road a bit, was not worth the comfort of this room. We will stay here again and we wish there were more places like this out there amongst all the commercial "cookie cutter" hotels. read more

We came in at about 6pm and we're greeted by the most amazing desk clerk. The price of the room was more than reasonable. Once we got in the suite we were overwhelmed with excitement. From the bar to the living room to the huge jacuzzi tub. We were overwhelmed with excitement! We will 100% go back maybe even bring the kids next time. read more

We stay here every year and every year they amaze us! This is a beautiful little fishing and logging community and these rooms let you enjoy the rustic and beautiful scenery in luxury and comfort! These rooms feel like apartments, not like hotel rooms. The views of the harbor from the balcony are stunning and you have everything you need within a two to three mile distance from the hotel. I HIGHLY recommend this place, I would give them 10 stars if I could, and to top it off there are large spa tubs in the rooms!!! read more

We have decided that Portside will be our home away from home when in the area. We could not get over the restful, tranquil peacefulness of our stay. This was our third hotel in three nights. The youthful shenannagins of thundering elephants above our room from the night before added to our appreciation for quiet respite at Portside. So pleased were we I made myself a refreshing high ball and sat on the lovely little balcony admiring the sea faring equipment before me. Since this was a work trip, we also appreciated the on site laundry room. I can only hope our next stay will be more than just one night. read more

My wife and I decided to travel up the coast with Brookings, Oregon being our turn around point. We have been here for 2, going on 3 nights now. I stayed here 2 previous times, once while here doing an Internship and again when here for training. This place provides a nice, like home feeling. The couch is not like your typical hotel furniture. It is soft and comfortable. There is a dinning room table, a nice bathroom, a half kitchen if there is such a thing, and a seperate bedroom. We chose the one and only room with a fireplace which we both love. Now this place is nestled in the harbor area. There is not much of a view from the back; in fact the view is of old rusting equipment that I believe either belongs to the Coast Guard or is like a moth ball area for old fishing boat equipment. So if you want an ocean view, there really isn't much of one. But my opinion is, the rooms totally make up for the lack of view. The rates here are competitive if not better than most upper end hotels in this area. The Best Western down the road with an ocean view runs around $180-$200+. This place offers AAA discounts of 10%. There are many restaurants near by though my wife and I have not eaten at any of the close by establishments as of yet. So my recommendation is to stay here at least one night. It is quiet, the beds are good and comfortable, and you will love the room. Stay here! You won't regret it. read more

Had a bad experience with another hotel " see my previous review" Drove up and asked if they had a room and the reply was positive. Checked in and went to the room, the rate was $90, my wife told me to go back to the front desk to make sure the rate wasn't $190. I will never stay anywhere else in Brookings Oregon. Our room is a two room suite with a kitchenette that is tasteful appointed. As I'm sitting here I still can't believe our good fortune after the horror show we experienced earlier this evening. read more

Love this motel/hotel. Staff is always kind and courteous, and rooms are always very clean. I had a recent stay there earlier this month, and it was wonderful, as usual. Covid has greatly affected the number of businesses that are open, but it didn't deter us from going to the beach, taking rides up and down the highway to see the sights, and sitting out on the cute little back patio that overlooks the commercial fishing Harbor. This is my favorite place to stay when I'm in Brookings, if I'm not in In a vacation rental. Thanks very much for always making my stays comfortable. read more

My husband and I have been coming to Brookings, OR to celebrate the New Year and have been staying at the Portside Suites in one of their Jacuzzi Tub Rooms for the past 5 Years. We live in San Francisco and take the beautiful 101 drive through the Redwoods every December 30th. This place is just perfect. The staff Always welcomes us with Smiles and Welcome Backs and the room is Always Perfect! We Love the fact that the balcony overlooks a Working Harbor where, if you're lucky, you can watch the local Crab Fisherman Working.... this is just the perfect place to "get away" from the "City" and the "Go-Go" life to wrap up the old year and ring in the new! read more

The Portside Suites is my "go-to" hotel in the Brookings area! It is a small property (12 units). The staff is wonderful! Very nice, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to help when necessary. The rooms are large, and each has a small "living room" with a couch and television, a small dining area, kitchen-ette with fridge, sink, and microwave. The bedroom is separate, with a door. Some rooms have a jacuzzi tub and one has a fireplace. The bathroom is large. All the decor is done with "real" furniture - not something from a second rate hotel supplier. This is stuff you would buy for a home, and is in nice repair. There is a laundry downstairs, and the Blue Water Cafe next door is great. You can get something to go and bring it back to your balcony to enjoy. The rooms have small balconies that overlook the back of the harbor (not very scenic, but nice to enjoy a cup of coffee). They also have free Wi-Fi in the rooms. All in all, this hotel is preferrable to the Best Western down the street (where the staff is so busy they treat you like a nuisance and it's much more expensive). AND it's more affordable. A great deal in Brookings! read more

The rooms are very large and clean. Nice kitchenette. Lots of information on local businesses. There's a front room as well as a bedroom. The prices for the high end rooms are quite close to that of the main rooms so you can pamper yourself (in room whirlpool) for just a few more $$. Great deal for the price. My experience has been that for a comparable room, I've had to pay 2x the price. read more

We have stayed here a few times over the last several years when we couldn't get a room at the Best Western. The rooms are always clean and the staff is friendly. We checked out today and got almost to Grants Pass when Samantha called to tell me I left my laptop charger in the room. Not many places will do that anymore. Illogical people. They have 4 jacuzzi rooms available for $30 upgrade and they won't rent to me because I have young children. Apparently some other deadbeat parents left there children unattended and they flooded the room. I told the very nice lady that I would pay the upgrade price for the basic room and another guest, without kids, could have the upgraded room. Not very accommodating. I even told her I would leave a bad review. read more

It was late in the evening and only one room was left. It was a room with a separate sitting/kitchen area and a jacuzzi tub in the room. It was affordable, would we like it? Heck yeah! The nice woman at the desk even asked to check to make sure we were both over 30 (how sweet!) because of too many under 30 locals whooping it up, I wanted to ask what kind of stories they must have to make such a rule, but a jacuzzi tub and a new bottle of Cachaça was calling my name. We woke up to the sound of sea lions at the harbor and it was fantastic. For a late night stop, it was a lot better that I had hoped at a reasonable price. :) read more

We chose this hotel based on reviews from a couple other sites. The hotel is a smallish, about 25 units. It is clean and service was very good by the staff. There really isn't much of a view or anything, you actually just look over a storage yard in the harbor. The rooms are nicely equipped and very comfortable. The level of furnishings and layout of the room seemed a bit of overkill for a short night in the harbor. The night we stayed here it was nearly empty from what I could see - only 2 rooms occupied. The office closes at night if that concerns you. At night they turn on the no-vacancy sign and that keeps people from stopping by I imagine. Otherwise the stay was enjoyable. I would recommend this for a longer term stay if you get a good deal $$ on the room. For the short one night stay it was a bit overkill - especially if you were looking for any kind of a view. read more

We have been traveling for about 2 weeks and this is the best night stay we had the whole trip from Monterey on up to here! We came into town and got the last room they had, it was less than we paid for any of the best westerns along the way, the room was large well equipped and clean! It had a jacuzzi tub in the room very comfy bed it overlooked the harbor was very peaceful overall an excellent experience! We will be back for sure read more

I was actually one of the first to stay at this hotel and it was nice but when my 20 year old and his girlfriend drives over there from out of town And they even called and made reservations they were told that because they weren't 21 they weren't going to let them stay and the rules are if your not 21 or over or 30 if your a resident they won't rent to you, what makes that ok? Especially if it's not mentioned when you call or even on their website, this kid is old enough to fight for your country but not old enough to sleep there?????? This is just not ok with me nor with my country that my son fights for read more

Enjoyed staying here - well-equipped, good price, large rooms, clean. Staff was responsive, helpful and accommodating. Location is great to get to different places in Brookings. Also great: no pets, no smoking. So if you're allergic, there's no problem. Many places that allow pets - you can never get all the dander out. I knew not to expect any sort of view and I was right but we pretty much go out for the view and just rest, sleep and shower in the room. The heating situation is not ideal. The livingroom is ambient and you have to be careful as it can get hotter than you intended. The bedroom has blown heat - but it often didn't work and so we only got cold air. I heard another guest had the same issue. Because the staff is so helpful, we're sure they'll figure this out. Wifi isn't so good some of the time - it kept cutting out right in the middle of a little video or responding to email... read more

View is nothing amazing, but the room itself (Sailor's Delight) was amazing. We had a private juccuzi bath (Which fit two women comfortably in it laying down!) and a big, spacious room. With the 10% AAA discount, the rate was reasonable and well worth it. read more

This is a lovely hotel! When we were coming into town we happened to drive by and we remembered the name of the hotel from an online hotel search for the area. Called to make a reservation and spoke with a very friendly fellow at the front desk. When we entered our room we were pleasantly surprised with how nice the room was. It had the works and they seemed to have taken the opportunity to make things as comfortable as anyone could ever want. We will definitely be back if we're ever in the area again! This was a nice surprise to find while traveling. We had been traveling down the coast all day and wasn't sure where to stay. Read reviews on yelp for several places and chose the port side suites. We had three rooms and all of us traveling felt like this should have had 5 stars . It was very very clean. Looked like rooms had been renovated. Front office lady was very nice and patient as we looked at all the rooms. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever in the area. Would recommend it highly. read more
