The room itself was a small cottage that sits next to the house with it's own parking, private entrance, porch area, kitchenette, and bathroom. It was very cozy comfy and perfect for us! The BNB is also very centrally located to nice beaches, hiking, and walking distance to great dining. Furnishing were older but charming and everything you need is provided. Only downside I experienced was the shower water running a little cold halfway through the second shower. We did not have the breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Overall, great place to stay!

Or simply roll your eyes and mock me for my being so trite? Well, I don't care if you react that way. Because you haven't been here, and so you couldn't actually know that this is exactly what the South Coast Inn feels like. It's familiar and fun, in a family-friendly, come make tea in the kitchen, sit down on the living room couch, watch the sunset on the front porch sort of way. Michael will greet you each morning in the kitchen, maybe his mother will tell you tales of life in Fresno, and Sheryl will have decorated the rooms to suit whatever holiday it happens to be. For us, it was Christmas, and the trees and displays were better than at home - bigger, more elaborate, and no fruitcake or spiked eggnog in sight (but maybe they were just hidden in the office). The staircase has that comforting wooden creak, the curtains are lacy and white, the beds are fluffy and warm, and the walls are hung with pictures that would not look out of place at your Aunt Lil's, if she lived on the coast of Southwestern Oregon, which I'll bet she does not. The food is fresh and flavorful, the neighborhood is quaint and quiet despite US-101 being so close, and the surrounding garden is filled with flowers and camelias and azaleas and lots more in-between. You can while away hours on the porch, read by the fire, meet new people at the table, or just sleep long and deep in a room filled with lighthouses. Try doing that at Aunt Lil's. A home away from home, bed and breakfast style. Get used to it!

We did get discounted on our stay as it looks like they are already aware of the issues at this place. Overall, I will not be coming back. It's sketchy to sleep here as it is, and the bathtub doesn't drain. Never coming back. They said they will give us more sheets and instead we got 8 pillow covers and 2 shower curtains in place of 6 sheets. There is grass in the upstairs hallway. Could not stay here for another night so we left early. Staff are nice and gave a refund for the stay.

Just the bed and bedding alone would have been enough to make me stay. But they also have kitchens and living area. A mini home away from home. Not just a bed in a hotel with an ugly bedspread. All but 1 unit has a river view. Our family reunion there last weekend was fantastic.

It sits right on the beach, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves is wonderful. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing I enjoyed this time. I decided to splurge on a suite, but I regretted it. For one of the more expensive rooms, it was in surprisingly poor condition: dinged furniture, rusty air vents, a gouged floor, ripped carpet, stained curtains, and sliding glass doors that were so cloudy I had to open them to enjoy the view. The bathroom appeared to have been recently updated, but I found long strands of hair in it. The service was disappointing, too. At check-in, I was told matter-of-factly, "We don't clean rooms during your stay!" I was there for the better part of a week. If I wanted cleaning, I had to request it a day ahead; otherwise, I could go to the front desk for supplies. Having worked in hotels, I understand that housekeeping costs money. Still, after booking a suite, I didn't expect to have to go downstairs for fresh towels or toilet paper. One afternoon, a nap was interrupted by loud talking outside my room. When it continued, I looked out and found a housekeeper talking on speakerphone. Checkout summed up the stay. The only thing I was asked was whether I wanted a copy of my receipt. There was no question about my stay and not even a thank-you. I'd enjoyed this hotel before, which made this visit especially disappointing.

Each day while we were away the room was freshened up. Coffee, instant ceral were provided in the room as well as cream for the coffee. Dishes and glassware were available to use. The room was well supplied with the things we needed. The steps and railings could use a bit of updating for safety and the stairs leading towards the beach area were in much need of repair, to the point that it was not a good idea to venture too far down that path as the lower steps dropped down further than the rest. The handrail at the very bottom was frail and really should not be allowed public access without being made much sturdier. When parking, it required you to back all the way out to the roadway. No viable place to turn around once you drove all the way in. Would we stay here again? Yes we would. I felt it was a good value for the price paid. You could literally hear and see the ocean right from the front room. It is a place that provides a lot of peace and quiet. Probably not the best for a young and noisy partying crowd. Certainly, we're talking about rentals on the Oregon-California coast, and therefore what I'm really speaking of is the fact that these are not the nicest of places. However, this is just such a great location, and the staff are amazing. Super friendly, very accommodating, and very eager to help make sure you have the best vacation possible. I know we're coming back. One thing, do yourself a favor and rent one of the units that's directly on the water. You will not regret it.

It felt quiet and almost completely to ourselves during our stay. The large deck with a partial ocean view was amazing. It was very relaxing, and it was fully enclosed. The hot tub was a great bonus after a long day exploring the coast. Self check-in was easy, parking right in front of the cabin made unloading simple, and communication from the resort was great. It was also a quick drive to Brookings, OR for restaurants, but there are delivery options as well. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable overall. The only part uncleaned was under the couch, which we only noticed because our dogs kept trying to get food left underneath it. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back on our next visit! We'll definitely recommend this resort to others!
