This is a great and safe place to stay when visiting the redwoods. It's like staying at your Grandma's. Carol is so sweet. She is an amazing cook too. Best pancakes ever. She was very nice to my kids as well. The grounds here are absolutely beautiful. The trees, the deer, the birds, the wild turkeys, and more. During the evening I felt like we were confined to our room upstairs as opposed to sitting outside on the patio to see the stars or even walking downstairs because of the dog, which he was sweet, but he barks. I wasn't aware of the indoor cat either. The cat was very friendly but my husband and I are both allergic to cats. read more

We stayed two nights in the family suite and also enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and dinner that Carol cooked for us. This place was awesome. It a little ways out of town which we loved. The room was spacious and it was nice that the kids room was attached. The beds were comfortable. Carol made use the best eggs Benedict we have ever had with fresh grape juice. I mean what more can you really ask for. What a great treat/retreat a few miles from Brookings up the Chetco river valley. Carol and her family share their beautiful milled log home via their two very private upstairs suites. This is a new home and the rooms are huge, clean, comfortable and have a great view down the river valley. Do dinner with them if you can and sample some of the fresh meats, fruits and veggies they raise on this 100+ acre property. Plenty of room to roam with lots of wildlife all around, including friendly cats and a golden retriever that are happy to plan if you want -- they won't bug you if you don't. We had the Elk roast (yum) for dinner, fresh peaches and ice cream and some fresh-picked blackberries with our hearty breakfast. You know those places that you don't want to leave? This is one of those places. You'll be treated like family. read more

My. Emily Ranch B&B is incredible! We went out on a limb and decided to drive up to Oregon and explore a little bit. I was looking for a place not too far from the main roads & somewhere we can completely relax and get some much needed rest. Carol & Lisa have the best B&B I've ever been to. We drove up the beautiful Hwy 101 across the Oregon border to Brookings, a pleasant coastal town. The drive to the ranch is gorgeous, it's a slightly winding road that runs south of the Chetco river and it doesn't take too long to get up to the ranch. When you arrive to the gate and let yourself in, there are groups of wild turkey roaming the grounds and beautiful farm animals that look happy and healthy. The big log house at the top of the hill is beautiful and looks instantly comfortable. Finally you walk inside and you are greeted by the most lovely/very tidy home, it smells great and is cozy from the moment you step inside. Lisa greeted us at the door and mad sure we were comfortable and happy before giving us the rest of the night to relax, and feel (very much) at home in their cozy loft and living room. We were told that the ranch grounds were open for us to walk around with the restriction of not going up the "cow hill" because they had recently spotted some very large bear skat. We quickly ran upstairs to take a look at our room, the blue room, and were taken back by how comfortable and huge it was. The bathroom was very clean and they even provide all natural soap, lotion, and shampoo. Needless to say the night was perfect. We even got to walk around the ranch escorted by Zena their Golden who was adorable. We didn't have dinner only because we didn't realize it was offered but if I could do it over again, I WOULD! Carol made us pancakes the next morning accompanied by some delicious eggs and bacon, coffee, orange juice, & 6 homemade syrups. We sat down with Lisa, Carol, and Clark for a wonderful conversation that ended in a discussion on when the best time of the year was for us to come again. I will be back to Mt. Wow! What an amazing experience! We arrived on Saturday and got all settled in. The owner knew I couldn't stand tap water so she even gave me my own personal Brita for the room! My husband and I did a store run and bought a fan so I could sleep. (I like the noise.) When we returned the owner insisted that I used hers so I could return the one I bought. We had paid for the family style dinner for that night so we relaxed and enjoyed the surrounding sites. The meal we chose was the spinach casserole with potatoes and it was so good! We sat at the table with the owner and was later joined by her family member. It was such an amazing experience to be able to share stories with each other. We even brought a bottle of wine for them to enjoy but they kindly wanted my husband and I to enjoy it for ourselves. (How sweet!) We talked for hours and were even able to see other guests arrive which was so cool. (It was also great to see the owner take the time to make sure everyone was taken care of.) The next morning we made sure we were up for breakfast at 8:30 and I am so glad we did! The food was so yummy and we got to sit with another couple at the table. Towards the end of our meal the family needed to feed one of the cows. (They have over 30 on property!) I was so excited when they asked if I wanted to bottle feed one! It was so cool! We did our own thing during the day and planned to get dinner in the town, but we took advantage of the fire pit. We made s'mores (thanks to their help with the fire) and relaxed in the backyard while admiring the view. (You can even see the river!) It was so cool to stay in a cozy home in between busy work weeks. It was also our first experience with a family style breakfast. (Dinner if you pay for that. It is an add on. Highly recommend!) The room was so cozy and the shower was huge! I felt like we were accepted as family the entire time. We ended our last day with a breakfast with two other couples, and enjoyed a relaxed morning before heading out. We had waffles, eggs, bacon and homemade grape juice. Very delicious! Beautiful cabin set on a working ranch. Nice views with flowers and gardens around. The room was fantastic with a large spa like bathtub with jets. The owner made us a huge breakfast with homemade blackberry syrup and fresh eggs from her chickens. Had a great stay. read more

Carol's house is large and beautiful. The decor evokes a cabin feel but still has all the amenities you would expect. The room was very spacious and even had a small side room with 2 small beds if you have children. There is a common area with a TV and kitchenette if you want to prepare a quick meal or make some coffee. The location is up in the hills outside Brookings. Carol has a very friendly dog and 2 cats who love attention though they don't go upstairs where the rooms are. Carol cooked us a delicious breakfast and I would be happy to stay here again as it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. read more
