Probably the best fish and chips is the area and beyond. The clam chowder is delicious too-definitely add the bread bowl because it's huge and garlicky, yet light. Truly amazing bread. The chocolate cake is fabulous. Whoever was in the kitchen this day, great job, everything was perfect. The person who took our order was sweet and very helpful as well. Thank you to her for suggesting the bread bowl. Best suggestion ever. We've eaten here for years and hadn't been back for several years or so. It was always good, clean and friendly. Now, it's a fantastic restaurant with great food. Seems like the one star ratings were over 5 years ago. Try it now, you won't be disappointed

We spent the night so we could do the Redwoods the next day and am glad we stayed here instead of lodging in Crescent City. Since I'm a foodie, I've gotta be honest. It was good enough. Not great. Not a reason to stay at the hotel. The wings and pizza were the best. Homemade dough, and crispy wings. I was going to order the tacos, but was glad I didn't when I saw them. They're definitely lacking some pizass. I wanted to love the Alfredo, but it didn't taste homemade enough for me. Drinks were strong, service was wonderful, and the slot machines paid out. Overall, great stay.

We had a 12 hour drive ahead of us and when we arrived it was just perfect. We have a family of 5, with 3 teenagers. We had the most amazing time here. The Jedediah Redwood State Park is so close, we stayed 4 nights in cabin #19. The loft had a queen, twin & a chair that folded into a sleeping pad. The couch was very comfy, the cabin is remodeled and looks so cute. Only two things that need improvement: the sand toys (my boy's complaints, not mine) haha and the bedroom door is a pocket door that does NOT lock lol. So just beware :) This location had a side ocean view that was really beautiful but you can't see the sunset. But Just a walk to the really nice stairs to the beach, super close and watch from there. This cabin is lined with trees in the back, and had two decks. The jacuzzi was PERFECT and this location is private compared to others. Everyone was so nice and the beach was so quiet and private. It's close to drive into Oregon to grab things you may need. We cooked a few nights but unfortunately you can't BBQ, but there were plenty of options close by. We liked Crescent City & Brookings. The views are spectacular all the way up. We will be back and would like to stay even longer next time and get more family to come. It's worth the drive to truly see what beauty CA has to offer.

Richard and Ana stay onsite. After being welcomed, shown our room and given a quick tour, we only saw them again at breakfast the next morning. THE BREAKFAST: Wow, just wow. I'm a foodie so when I go somewhere to eat it better be something I can't easily replicate at home. Ana really out does herself with a multiple course breakfast. Very filling, clean eating, freaking DELICIOUS! Everything from the delicate slightly-sweet breads to the hearty main course which always includes eggs in some form, to the fresh fruit to the handmade desserts accompanying every breakfast. The coffee is safe (not too strong, not too weak, not at all bitter). They also offer loose leaf tea if coffee is not your thing. VERY HAPPY with Breakfast prepared by Ana. Breakfast is worth the trip all by itself *YUM* Their attention to detail is exhausting. There are too many amenities to list and even little snacks on tables though out the house. We had access to a full sized fridge/freezer downstairs as well as use of a microwave and toaster oven if we needed it. I can't think of a single thing that we needed; Richard and Ana have thought of everything that you might need during your stay. Arky's uses Hotel quality sheets and towels (all 100% cotton). The bed in the garden view room was incredibly comfortable (king: bamboo pillowtop mattress) with an additional bamboo mattress topper. Plenty of pillow of various soft/firmness. I wouldn't change a thing. I slept like a rock. I'm not sure how many rooms they rent out each night, but there seemed to be different couples and even an entire family staying during our time there. Never once did we hear anyone else in the house unless we left our room. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this place over staying at a local hotel; they are priced about the same.

Because I want it to be available for just me. But I'm not a selfish person (for the most part). And I must share this life haven with those who seek a place, view and amenities that make the world as you know it - stop. We stayed in the captains quarters. And I can't imagine ever going "back". We had "happened" upon this while making a long weekend following a conference in Ashland. Hoping this glowing and deserving view earns us some consideration when the place is booked solid In the future and we make a habit of coming back again. You're welcome:)

We also enjoyed the comfy adjustable bed with massage function, faux fireplace heater, refrigerator, and smart TV for when we wanted to stay in. John and Nancy were more than happy advise us on restaurants and local attractions though I had done exhaustive research on them already so we were good to go. We couldn't have asked for better hosts! Due to Covid we couldn't gather for breakfast but they were happy to leave fresh coffee, scones (sooooooo good!), and prepared eggs from their chickens. Seriously those scones were to die for! We had a wonderful time getting away to Mermaid's Muse and we can't wait to visit again!

Each day while we were away the room was freshened up. Coffee, instant ceral were provided in the room as well as cream for the coffee. Dishes and glassware were available to use. The room was well supplied with the things we needed. The steps and railings could use a bit of updating for safety and the stairs leading towards the beach area were in much need of repair, to the point that it was not a good idea to venture too far down that path as the lower steps dropped down further than the rest. The handrail at the very bottom was frail and really should not be allowed public access without being made much sturdier. When parking, it required you to back all the way out to the roadway. No viable place to turn around once you drove all the way in. Would we stay here again? Yes we would. I felt it was a good value for the price paid. You could literally hear and see the ocean right from the front room. It is a place that provides a lot of peace and quiet. Probably not the best for a young and noisy partying crowd. This room also had a VERY big nice TV - much larger TV than in the other rooms! This was our first time to Crescent City and of course we wondered if the fog horn would be a problem (especially given the "warning" on the hotel website). It wasn't an issue for us - but we didn't sleep with the door to the balcony open or anything. You can definitely hear it... but it's not super loud and/or overbearing... when I think "foghorn" I usually think about the super loud blaster that they use at 49er games or something, but this wasn't that at all - not even close! The TV was a little bit of a challenge to figure out, but we figured it out eventually. I can't say that I was crazy about the bathroom layout... with the sink part being in the main room, but the upside to that is there was a LOT of counter space, much more than would have been available otherwise. After a little reflection, I realized there really wasn't a better way to lay things out. I just had to get used to it... and now, I wouldn't hesitate to get the same room again.

Ryan at the front desk indicated that while he technically could modify our reservation, we'd have to go through Expedia since we booked with them - sure, not a problem. I talk to an Expedia agent who says yep, we should be able to modify the reservation. They call the Oceanview Inn, speak with Ryan, who says nope, no can do. When I went back to the lobby (still on the night of check-in) to ask Ryan what happened, he became confrontational. The staff here are unwilling to help their guests or make even minor modifications to reservations, even for services that have not and will not be rendered. Location: Convenient location close to the beach, highway, and Redwood National Park. Other than the national park there is very little to do in Crescent City. Not many good restaurant options. Room: Antiquated. Hasn't been updated in 25 years, uncomfortable bed. The upgraded room we reserved was quite large, however, the walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors all night. Also, the fog horn blows every 8 seconds. Walking to & from the room we noticed the hallways smell like strongly of urine.
