Lovely location. The room was left open which we appreciated. We didn't have cell service and I neglected to save the message from the hosts. Residents from another room gave us WiFi code so we could read. Not enough WiFi for movies. Pretty creeks and trails. Will return if lodge opens. It looks fantastic. King size bed was comfy. I rode to the lodge and noticed that it had barely survived the recent forest fire. Burnt trees are still standing on the facing ridge just above the creek. But the nearly 100-year old lodge's 10 owner has put it up for sale and will close the lodge Sept. 2024. So I am glad to get a last meal there. The eggs Benedict were very good. The service was very good as was the rustic setting. While owners have changed since I first ate there, the food has consistently been above average and I hope it will continue so with a new owner. read more

We had been aware of the Patrick Creek Lodge and it's significance in the development of the Redwood Highway for some time, but this was the first time we visited, we'll won't simply drive by so often in the future. My understanding is that the restaurant is only open on weekends, but they have regular live music on Saturday evenings. A very unique property! read more

Lovely peaceful mountain retreat! Stayed 1 night on a weekday. Located right by the creek and private river access. The managers are nice and helpful. Our room was updated and clean. The towels and linen were fresh. The wonderful hot water, fridge, coffeemaker, and microwave were all I needed for a break from camping all week. The restaurant is currently only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,, so missed out on that and have to return. read more

Owner has been struggling a bit between her very sick husband that over the past 4-5 years had not been able to really be of help to keep the place up. Driven by a million times and have always wanted to stop but usually traveling with kids , we'll yesterday I was by myself and didn't hesitate to stop. Our stay was when the restaurant and lodge are closed Monday-Thursday, but the owners' Terry and Tina McNaught were gracious. If you come midweek, please know you need to bring food you can microwave or drive into Crescent City for dinner. Rooms have microwaves and coffee makers, so lunches and breakfast are easy if you have an ice chest with food. The historic lodge is beautiful and a peaceful swimming hole on the Smith River is only a short walk from the inn. A wonderful oasis from the busyness of life with a creek, river, and woods. read more

patrick creek historic lodge is under new management. it is in the middle of the forest 11 miles from the nearest town. it is at the confluence of two rivers, the smith and patrick creek, literally only yards away. if you like fishing or hunting this historic lodge is perfect. this old lodge contains a bar and restaurant with good food. my husband and i spent two night there on the way to oregon. the new manager was friendly and helpful. he is slowly renovating the lodge room by room. the lodge is a throwback in time reminding one of a charming lodge/hotel built in the 1920s, which it was. we enjoyed our stay and recommend it to everyone. read more

My Bestie and I decided to meet 1/2 way today between Grants Pass and Brookings. This was my first time here at PCL and Wow! So happy we decided to meet here! We were welcomed with warm smiles and open arms from Leo the Bartender, to Mamie to the new owners Terry and his lovely wife! We had a wonderful visit! Can't wait to go back with our husbands and stay longer! We had drinks, nothing exotic. A Margarita on the rocks and a Bloody Mary. Both very smooth and tasty! We had 2 appetizers, the homemade Spinach and Artichoke Dip w/ Pita and Tortilla chips. And the soft pretzel w/homemade Beer Cheese Dip! Both were Dee-lish!! Large pieces of artichoke hearts in the creamy dip. And the pretzel was warm, lightly salted and the Homemade Beer Cheese Dip was Very tasty I wish these new owners the best, in their new endeavor!!! Welcome to the Northwest!! I can't wait to go back for dinner with my husband and our furbabies....... Oh, didn't I mention that they are in the process of turning all of their lodge rooms into Pet Friendly rooms for those of us that travel everywhere with our furry friends! read more

Wow, very impressed. I have driven by numerous times, finally stopped in. Very impressive History, but the Clam chowder was Amazing! We were in the area and stopped for dinner. We've passed by here many times on the way to the coast but never stopped. The staff were great and very friendly. Our waitress was nice and helpful. A pleasant treat. The dinners (as of this date) ranged from $20 to $26 with steaks, seafood,pasta and chicken (chicken Oscar). I had the steak and scampi with clam chowder, twice baked potatoes and fresh bread. The chowder was just okay but the rest was excellent. The steak was tender and flavorful and the scampi succulent in a butter sauce. I would definitely eat here again. read more

While driving through this stretch there is nothing else around for miles. We stopped off to grab lunch on a lazy Saturday. The restaurant had decent healthy and grill options but it all tastes just so so. The patty melt was greasy without flavor and the accompanying salads were also limp and uninspired. Stayed here for one night en route from Ashland, OR to the California coast...it's a very old and somewhat charming inn right off beautiful Highway 199, and a decent place to put your head down for a night's rest. The rooms are a bit dark and the linens tired, but the bed was comfortable and the water hot - and sometimes, that's just about all you need! There's a comfortable living room area behind the check in desk where you can relax and check out the book shelves and games table. AND - there's a short trail down to the lovely and clear Patrick Creek, which was just deep enough for a brisk, refreshing dip. We'd probably stop again, and plan on more time to explore down by the creek! There's certainly room for improvement (the hot tub isn't functioning) - but at least this historic old place is still in operation. read more

My husband called to ask if we needed to make a reservation for lunch. He was told they are not taking reservations but to just come. We came for lunch and waited a short time in the lobby just to be told by the waitress " sorry we're full, we have hotel guests" and abruptly turned and walked away from us. We looked around and we saw empty tables in the dining room and the outside patio. For someone in the service industry, she lacked an ounce of customer service. Her sorry was not genuine. Don't come here if your hungry! But if you want to take a chance at driving to a restaurant for 35 minutes and have a 50/50 chance of eating then this is the place for you. read more

We stopped here on our way from Medford to Brookings, Oregon. We thought by the sign historical lodge, Food, Booze and Snooze looked good. BIG mistake. The bar area was friendly, Linda the server friendly, but not knowledge for drinks. They had a small dinner menu which was a bit on the expensive side. We ordered oysters, out of stock. So we ordered "homemade" clam chowder and scallop dinner. The clam chowder was so watered down and likely from can. The scallops were the TINY, maybe 1/4 inch round and not flavorful (butter sautéed). We did not treat our taste buds but dented our wallet only. :( Drive past unless you want a beer. read more

This review is for the bar and restaurant only. This place is an old historic spot, so expect an authentic experience. The bar doesn't have a large selection, but they have something to get the job done. Leo the bartender is a really nice guy and serves up both spirits and polite conversation. Dinner was amazing. There were only 6 people in the restaurant and that made it very intimate. Halfway through dinner a piano player showed up and delighted us with live music. The food was excellent. A little expensive compared to portion size, but they're not a high volume place so you're buying yourself a rare experience. There is also ADA river access from here. It's a great trail that takes you right to the water's edge. read more

Despite reading JL's review about no cell phone service(dont like to be out of reach for the kids) we stopped and stayed at Patrick Creek Lodge. Not only did we HAVE cell phone service, but great service all around. Slower now being a Sunday in Sept. We got our choice of rooms. Linda was very cool and made us feel at home. We had a great dinner at a great price! The area is beautiful and has a great history! We will definitely stay again! Being that it was slow Linda closed up the bar early..like 9ish :( ..so that would be the only downfall and reason for me to drop a star. Probably would have regretted more drinks anyhow ;) but I hear Linda will even put ya to bed if ya get to drunk. LOL Maybe that's why she closed up early..??!? Thanks Linda and Patrick Creek Lodge! First of all, the map directions that go with this listing are completely off. Patrick Creek Lodge is not right in Crescent City (thank goodness!!) but a few miles (20?) inland through redwood forests and following the course of the beautiful Smith River on Hwy 199. It is a perfect place to get away: no phones, no internet, no cell phone reception, if that works for you. The prices are reasonable. The owner/manager was very friendly and folksy and welcoming. When you walk in, you see various animal parts hung on the walls, so if that stuff freaks you out, don't stay here. It is an old hunting lodge, after all. The best part is the setting: You are right across the road from the Smith River and Patrick Creek flows right next to the property: Good for wading, swimming, or just exploring. The grounds are nicely set up for wandering but, DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS. There are signs posted all over discouraging DOGS in any form. We figured the angst over dogs may be because there are resident ducks on the grounds, and we were encouraged to go look at the baby ducks out the back door of the restaurant. Now, the restaurant: This is only reason I had to knock off a star. Maybe it was because it was Labor Day weekend, but the food was AWful. I ordered the 'catch of the day' figuring that the ocean was less than a half-hour away...first mistake. Then, I chose the tuna that was baked with herbs and lemon over the tuna teriyaki (ugh?)..the only thing that distinguished that slab of sawdust from canned tuna was the lack of moisture and flavor. For the half-piece I was able to wash down, the price was $18.50. Hopefully, it was the real chef's day off. Otherwise I'd advise to drive into Crescent City and buy food at Safeway (heaven knows there is no good food in Crescent City). read more

My filet was good. The salad was actually pretty good with dressing made in house. I think my twice baked potato was microwaved. They have a beautiful surrounding gardens and the place itself is attached to a hotel. The interior is woodsy, cozy, and aged. Their menu is steaks, seafood, and not much else that I can remember. The last time my wife and I ate there we experienced: * The avocado on my wife's veggie sandwich was brown all the way through, the lettuce was wilted and from a bag, even the olives were old and mushy. * The prices are way too high for the quality of food being served. This is definitely not fine dining quality food. * There was a fly buzzing around the window where we were seated. The waitress did not notice or did not care. * The waitress is a close talker who will not leave you in peace to enjoy your meal. Plan to have a long discussion about where your from and how's the weather for a good portion of your meal. On the positive side the little creek outside to look at. Unfortunately, staring at it will not prompt the waitress to go away. * My mushroom Swiss burger was nothing to write home about. I wouldn't recommend this establishment at this point. We stayed here for one night as we drove from Klamath Falls, OR to Brookings, OR. The historic inn was unique. Our room had a strange odor, the carpet had not been replaced in decades, and the beds were very saggy. Leo at the front desk was awesome - very friendly and knowledgeable and truly cared about our stay. The hummingbirds were fun to watch and the antiques were neat to see. George at the restaurant was friendly and concerned that our meal took over an hour even though we were only one of five parties at the restaurant. The clam chowder was watery and lacked clams. I don't normally complain, but I need to warn people. As a summary, I was told a different price for one night than what they charged us. ( almost double $114 for 2 people). Our room had cobwebs in the corners, bugs crawling in and out of the ceiling, and spiders all over - shower, defending from the ceiling, even on the doorknob to top it all off, they had some man playing live music literally outside our room window until 930. when a friend learned that we'd never stopped at patrick's creek on our way to or from medford, he encouraged us to stop, saying it was really good. well, we did and it was. a wonderful 'find'! we stopped for breakfast - hubby had a denver omelette w/hash browns and i had a bacon/cheese omelette with a side of fruit. delicious. the coffee was quite good, as well. the interior of the lodge where the dining room is located is beautiful and interesting. after eating we wandered the grounds and along patrick's creek. beautiful. now that we know, we'll return. read more
