The cabin and location is just the most relaxing place and the owners have proven that 'rustic' can co-exist with 'clean'. The cabin now has electricity, which is an improvement from our first visit when the lighting was all gas-lamp. Those lamps were quaint and cool, but the electric lights are nice. There's a new picture window and newer wood stove now too, so the cabin is brighter during the day and you have heat all night long. Take a look through the photo album and you'll see that Hilda (check the calendar in the main room) has been a part of the cabin for many years.

Richard and Ana stay onsite. After being welcomed, shown our room and given a quick tour, we only saw them again at breakfast the next morning. THE BREAKFAST: Wow, just wow. I'm a foodie so when I go somewhere to eat it better be something I can't easily replicate at home. Ana really out does herself with a multiple course breakfast. Very filling, clean eating, freaking DELICIOUS! Everything from the delicate slightly-sweet breads to the hearty main course which always includes eggs in some form, to the fresh fruit to the handmade desserts accompanying every breakfast. The coffee is safe (not too strong, not too weak, not at all bitter). They also offer loose leaf tea if coffee is not your thing. VERY HAPPY with Breakfast prepared by Ana. Breakfast is worth the trip all by itself *YUM* Their attention to detail is exhausting. There are too many amenities to list and even little snacks on tables though out the house. We had access to a full sized fridge/freezer downstairs as well as use of a microwave and toaster oven if we needed it. I can't think of a single thing that we needed; Richard and Ana have thought of everything that you might need during your stay. Arky's uses Hotel quality sheets and towels (all 100% cotton). The bed in the garden view room was incredibly comfortable (king: bamboo pillowtop mattress) with an additional bamboo mattress topper. Plenty of pillow of various soft/firmness. I wouldn't change a thing. I slept like a rock. I'm not sure how many rooms they rent out each night, but there seemed to be different couples and even an entire family staying during our time there. Never once did we hear anyone else in the house unless we left our room. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this place over staying at a local hotel; they are priced about the same.

I loved this place!!! I didn't realize it would be as amazing as it was until I got there. The grounds were beautiful. The interior was pretty and organized with unique and antique decor. We stayed in the African suite. It was cozy and extremely comfortable. We didn't have time to use the jacuzzi tub, but it looked spectacular. The complimentary sherry in the decanter was extremely classy and the perfect nightcap to our evening. The long deck was amazing to see the fog roll in and the sun come up. The sounds of the fountain were very relaxing. David was so accommodating and friendly. It is obvious that they take pride in giving their guests outstanding experiences. David's breakfast was so delicious and gave us the fuel we needed for a day of hiking at Redwood. He also gave some recommendations based on his experiences in the area. My only regret is that we didn't arrive earlier so we could have spent more time there. We didn't arrive until late. I highly recommend this place. The BNB is also very centrally located to nice beaches, hiking, and walking distance to great dining. Furnishing were older but charming and everything you need is provided. Only downside I experienced was the shower water running a little cold halfway through the second shower. We did not have the breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Overall, great place to stay!

My room was clean, the shower was amazing, and the view, sound, and smell of the Pacific Ocean was amazing. The foghorn did not bother me at all! The only thing that I would recommend is that peep holes be installed on the hotel room doors, so you know who is there before opening the door. I had a wonderful stay, and I will stay here again when I return to, "The Redwood Gate to the Golden State" AKA "Comeback Town USA"

Our room was clean when we arrived, and the breakfast area was spacious with a great view, which made the morning experience enjoyable. However, there were several downsides. The biggest issue was a leaking faucet in the room, which suggests that maintenance could be improved. The room itself was also quite small--just enough space to move around comfortably, with very limited extra room for luggage or other belongings. Overall, the hotel was adequate for a short stay, mainly because of the cleanliness and pleasant breakfast area, but the maintenance issues and cramped room size kept the experience from being more enjoyable.

I will never stay at a Best Western ever again…read more  We were not able to check into our hotel room until several hours after our advertised check in time. No communication was made to us prior to arriving at the hotel about our room not being ready. No concessions were made at that time because our booking was done through "www.hotels.com". During our stay our room developed a significant water leak from a ceiling light/fan fixture. This happened very late at night; I called down to the front desk and after waiting for several minutes I received a call back. By this time the water leak from the ceiling had mostly stopped, however we used all our hotel towels mitigating the water leak. The staff offered an adjacent room for us to stay in. However, it was very late at night and we had sleeping children and being that the water leak seemed to have stopped on its own we opted to stay in our room.  When we came back to our room the next day, the water leak was still active.  The hotel had not sent anyone to fix the leak and they had not sent anyone from housekeeping to clean up the huge water mess.  I went and spoke with the front desk staff personally and asked for assistance, however we never received any for the remainder of our stay. We spent the majority of our time out of the room because of this issue. We then had to leave the property several hours earlier than our scheduled check out time due to the bathroom being unusable. It was unusable because of an active water leak and a standing water all over the floor. Again, I called down to the front desk early on the morning of our check out to ask for assistance and they didn't provide any. After telling them that morning what the issues were that we were having, the response from staff was "Ok". The onsite manager was never available, and I was never able to speak to them.  This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I will not be staying a best western ever again.
