We stayed 2 nights in the Excalifur tree house. This is an absolutely stunning tree house with 2 stories, multiple sleeping areas, a full bathroom, a kitchenette, and gorgeous craftsmanship throughout. We were greeted with a plate of freshly-made cookies when we got inside. Everything was clean and tidy. I can't think of a single thing we needed because it was all there. The grounds themselves were a joy to walk through. Lots of games, works of art, a kids playground - all nestled in a peaceful treeline. I can't recommend this place enough if you need an escape from city life and want to reconnect with nature. read more

I'm a bit behind posting it's been a busy summer. But my wife found this wonderful treasure in search of places on the way to the Redwoods. We stayed at the Excalifir and it was such an amazing, peaceful place. We were beyond impressed with just how beautiful the treehouse was and extremely clean. Out of the many places we have stayed and some were 4-5star places, this place impressed my wife with how very clean and well taken care of it was. The property was amazing! There were deer just wondering through the property and a great pond for catch and release. Our son caught a couple of bass. We will definitely be coming back to stay again!!! So when the wife saw this somewhere i knew I had to take her. We hit the cyclone bomb storm and drove through some decent snow to get there. So happy to make it. The Family was so nice in treating us and making sure we were taken care of in case the power went out. Remember this is off the path people. Got to the Excalifir and OMG it was everything the pics show and more. FET like a little tiny house living, and we loved it. Beds were comfy, it was very warm inside, and it pushed us as a family to spend time together. No real signal and TV is only what DVDs they have. Mental note to bring DVDs next time to catch up on movie watching. The roof was a little noisy at night with the rain, snow, and trees but that's to be understood. When we got up we made sure to be on time for the breakfast presentation. OMG pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, freshly made syrup! Hats off the the chef (and owners, and family). I have one apology and it's to the daughter who helped us, your name eludes me but you were great. I was super stressed about driving back in the snow and putting on chains. You assured me that would likely not happen. Guess what, you were right. Thanks for taking the time out to calm a city boy down. The pics are from the morning before we left. This sweet, endearing property exceeded our expectations. Their website doesn't do it justice. The grounds are well kept. A lot of thought has gone into what guests would enjoy: corn hole, pool, super-size hammock, volleyball. We stayed in the Shittake treehouse, which was darling. Wish there were curtains for privacy on the side adjacent to another treehouse but the distance made it tolerable. It was raining during our visit so we had breakfast to-go but it was tasty nonetheless. Lots of wildlife, down-time and the host was gracious. We'll definitely be back. read more

I've always wanted to sleep in a treehouse. My fiancé and I were going up to Ashland OR for the Shakespeare festival and thought we could explore Southern Oregon a bit. We stayed at this lovely treehouse resort in Cave Junction and it surely exceeded my Pinterestesque expectations. Pros - beautiful property with four treehouses (we stayed in the Cottage) - our treehouse was clean, furnished with a full sized bed, loft bed, small refrigerator, bathroom (no shower but there are community showers), a nice balcony with a view, and coffee maker. - breakfast!! The breakfast each morning was amazing. Phil's presentation and production was similar to that of at least a 4 star restaurant in San Francisco. Do not miss breakfast! - Jodie and Phil were very sweet and accommodating - we found a binder filled with things to do and found out about this Oregon Cave National Monument which was about a 40 minute drive from the treehouses. We loved the cave tour, cafe, and trails for hiking. Cons - we found the town of Cave Junction (population of 1800) to be less than desirable. Saw some fairly racist signs in people's front yards. There are only about 10 restaurants, mostly American diner-ish processed food options. The only other places in the town were small liquor stores, a few gas stations, and one grocery store. Interestingly enough.. You could buy a rifle and a small hand gun in the liquor store. We opted to go out of town for our second day to find food in Grants Pass. -we never got a key for our treehouse and left it unlocked when we left for exploring.. Nothing happened of course but it left me uneasy read more

We had the pleasure of staying in the Calypso treehouse, our experience was magical to say the least. Down to the smallest detail, we felt welcome, comfortable, and in our own secluded tranquil world. This bed and breakfast is THE perfect getaway, even if it's for one night, like our visit, you'll leave refreshed and renewed. The breakfast really is incredible---best we've ever had, and that is saying a lot! My husband and I have been a big fan of tree houses and are hoping to build one or two of our own. We stayed in the Excalifir which is the largest and newest tree house at Vertical Horizons. We read the reviews prior to coming to Oregon but the photos and reviews cannot describe the fun we had staying in our treehouse. The house was VERY comfortable! It had full plumbing with a wetbar and bathroom with shower. It was a cool comfortable and peaceful stay! The hosts were excellent. They were friendly, helpful and relaxed. We wish we could've extended our two day stay longer. Now one thing I must stress....the breakfast part of this bed and breakfast was absolutely amazing!!! The resort was booked when we got there. The atmosphere is relaxed not rushed and busy. There are a number of nearby attractions to visit as well if you want adventure but just sitting in the trees and relaxing was perfect for us! read more

Wanted to suprise my girlfriend for her birthday with a new adventure. We came from the Seattle area, the drive is beautiful if you get off the beaten path. Made it to Vertical Horizons and met the very friendly and helpful staff. We were then shown to our tree house. The Excalifir. Great googaly moogaly what an amazing place. Full bath, much larger than anticipated, great decks and beautiful interior. It is an amazing place for a little romantic get away! The Excalifir by far exceeded all expectations, my only regret is we did not have more time. I can not speak on the breakfast, we did not partake. However wjen ee return we will. My husband and I stayed in The Cottage treehouse for two nights as part of our mini moon. The Cottage was lovely and we highly recommend Vertical Horizons! Our treehouse had a great patio we sat out on, a bed, a small loft with an additional bed and a half bathroom. It was secluded, so we felt like we were in our own little forest oasis. There was a lot of beautiful wildlife around! Jodie and Phil are wonderful. Also, their cat and dog are adorable. Phil gave us a great recommendation for a swimming spot. It was incredibly beautiful, and was one of the highlights of our trip. This place is the best, we are for sure coming back... and the breakfast is so, so good! Phil catered to my gluten and dairy intolerances and made me the best gluten free pancakes and french toast I think I've EVER had. Thank you both so much for a wonderful vacation! read more

Vertical Horizons Treehouse Paradise - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Cave Junction, Oregon

4 1/2 stars! I had heard about Out and About Tree Resort, but they were booked solid. I stumbled on across this place after scouring the Internet and liked the reviews I read on Trip Advisor. I'm so glad we stayed here instead. Out and About seems to have a ton of activities and traffic. This place is less known but peaceful and clean because of it. What a unique and fun experience! My daughter (age 6) and I stayed for two nights and loved it. Vertical Horizons is like B&B, camping, a cabin, a resort and nature's paradise all rolled up into one. Let me try to break it down...there's just so much to say.. B&B - There are three tree houses on the grounds, plus the main house where the hosts Phil and Jody (and their many pets) live. Phil makes an incredible breakfast every morning at 9 a.m. Don't skip this very important meal - especially here. He uses fresh and locally grown fruits, meats, etc. Incredible! First morning, we had a delicious fritata, chicken apple sausage with caramelized demi-glaze sauce, bacon (which was pretty special I have to say...), fresh fruit platters, and pancakes. (He even whipped up a special batch of gluten free pancakes for my daughter. The next day's fare was just as delicious! Since there are only three tree units (and a typical stay is at least two days), you have an opportunity to chat with the other guests during breakfast. We enjoyed the other folks company - both groups happened to have kids - so there was good synergy with everyone. Camping: There is a small, tiny hike to the tree houses. Not long or far at all, but you do not want to lug a bunch of stuff to your place. There's no rolling cart or bell hop. Try not to forget anything when leaving your tree like me. (doh...my sunscreen. doh...my sunglasses...) There are bathrooms in the tree house, but the showers are close to where you park your car. This ended up to be pretty convenient because we just kept most of our stuff in the car. Calypso Tree: The trees are really nice. Even though it was over 90 degrees outside, our tree stayed comfortably cool all day and night. Thank goodness for those tall green pines! There is a ceiling fan, a comfortable bed, a mini fridge, a tall table and two bar stools, a bathroom and sink and a tree in the middle of our room. There's also a seating area on our tree deck. Resort: The grounds are absolutely beautiful. You have an awesome view everywhere you turn. The swimming pool provided a day and a half of fun for the kids.They had a blast together - playing in the pool. I noticed a lot of lone hammocks placed around the grounds for some peace and quiet time. We learned how to climb trees which gave a whole different perspective to our surroundings. Jody was a great teacher - patient and encouraging. (Tree climb is $25 per person). After the climb, Phil lit a campfire where we toasted marshmallows and chilled out and took in a pretty amazing sunset view. Nature's paradise: there are three horses (no you cannot ride them), two sweet - friendly - and mellow dogs named Cosmo and Sady, three cats (although I only saw two), a gecko, a parrot (or Macaw), and of course wild life (like bull frogs, squirrels, birds, deer, etc.) Note: Getting to Vertical Horizons was a bit of a challenge. The 3305 sign is hard to see because it is a bit set back on the road you turn on, so you would probably want to arrive when there is daylight. There's an old abandoned looking barn and a couple trailers right before you turn to the road that takes you to the resort. Vertical Horizons is close to the National Caves monument and the Wild Cats Park. We ate at the local deli (Taylors) which was great and a short drive (10 - 15 min) from the resort. read more

We've been home for a couple of nights and nothing beats sleeping in my own bed, but I have to be honest and say that I really miss waking up in the trees. We stayed two wonderful nights at Vertical Horizons and it was Paradise in a Treehouse. I thought it was going to just be a silly little treehouse but it wasn't. It was a gorgeous room with a little bathroom and a sleeping loft. Also french doors that opened up to a balcony with a couple of wooden chairs. Even the wooden ladder up to the sleeping loft was really nice. Everything was immaculate, charming and gorgeous! It rained the second night we were there and it was so soothing to hear the raindrops hit the roof of our tree house. This is no ordinary bed and breakfast. There is disc golf, volley ball, tether ball, horse shoes, evening fire pit, and swimming pool, also for a small fee of $20-25 there is arts and crafts, mystery hunts, treasure hunts, talk like a pirate treasure hunts, make your own hand crafted/decorated walking sticks, learn to bead, tree climbing lessons and so much more. If we had known better we could have stayed all day at the tree houses and never left and been completely entertained all day. They are perfectly located near bridgeview vinyards, the Oregon Caves, Orange Torpedo river rafting trips, grants pass and only about an hour or so from the coast. To top it off Phil made the best breakfast we have ever had. All organic meats from Taylors, fresh fruit and homemade whip cream. Perfectly crisped bacon, french toast, pancakes, fresh squeezed orange juice, perfectly brewed coffee and so much more. It was an absolute treat and for the price we made out! Thank you Jodie and Phil. Greg, Eli and I had a wonderful time. I hope our travels will bring us back. In the mean time we will be sending everyone we know. It is way too difficult to fit the extent of how awesome this place is in a single review... so I will write simply and carefully and it is up to you to times everything I say by 1000 in order to soak in how amazing this place is. Treehouse? Think luxury mini accommodations in a tree. I think a common misconception is that you are "roughing" it when you come out here... but oh boy are you wrong. These tree houses are little sanctuaries. Comfy beds, little coffee/tea nook, toilet, sink, and a balcony. Location? Oregon. Who would think of taking a getaway to Oregon? Well you should! More specifically to Vertical Horizons. There is another establishment not too far away that is much bigger and commercialized. However, there is something about vertical horizons that was way more attractive. The serenity? The Peace? We sure were right! Service? Out of this world. I believe Phil and Jody redefine hospitality. We were there during the off season and still they treated us like family. They have two amazing pup roaming the property and who escorted us to and from our tree house almost everyday. They entire clan is just wholesome and remarkable people. I can't stress enough how vital it is for you to make it out to Vertical Horizons. It's a trip you will remember forever. read more

This is was such a special experience for us and our kids! We're a family of 4 and stayed in the Excalifir. It was so amazing, spacious, had everything we need and we were in awe of the physical structure, how it was built. we loved reading on the deck at night and just relaxing. Phil was great, very welcoming with his amazing breakfast! we loved chatting with everyone, relaxing by the pool and playing with their pets. It was all very laid back and just beautiful to enjoy the property. We also did a rafting trip thru liquid expeditions which was amazing and highly recommended! read more

The treehouses are so cute and have all the amenities you would need. The grounds are beautiful and the breakfast was incredible. It was very unfortunate that right as we were going to sleep the first night, I saw a very large beetle above my bed. It might not have been so bad except we were in bunks that had only a small amount of room above the bed. We were not able to sleep with the bug above our head in the beds, so we slept on the floor. We did not want to stay for the second night in these conditions. We asked for a refund but could not get a one or have the owners agree on an amount that would be fair. We had to pay the full price ($262.60) even though the owners knew there were these large beetles in the treehouses. Jodi (the owner) noted she wouldn't go into the treehouses after she has seen the bugs and they mostly are in the Calypso Treehouse. It was unfortunate that the stay ended this way. I would have been more prepared with the situation if it was noted on the website that there may be insects in the treehouse. Paying $262.60, I didn't think I would encounter this problem. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!! I have always wanted to stay in a treehouse and Phil and Jody, the owners, gave me that opportunity. My gf and I stayed in Excalifir for two nights and had an awesome time. First of all, the location is wonderful. When on the property, you feel as though you have been separated from the rest of the world. Relaxing and stress free. You can still connect with the world, but you won't want to. The property is close enough to town if you to go out to eat, shop, see the big cat refuge, etc, but when you are on the property you feel as though you are out in nature in the middle of nowhere, You wiil see geese, turkeys and deer within feet of you. There is plenty to do right there. Disc golf, tree climbing lessons withJody, grilling out if you chose to, hiking and much more. I cannot say enough about the actual tree house experience. I felt like a kid again. Add to all this the breakfast, where not only is the food wonderful, but eating with the other guests creates a feeling of community, Last, but certainly least, is the friendliness and helpfulness of Phil, Jody, Michael and Darma. All were equally great. I had high expectations for this experience. My expectations were not only exceeded, they were blown away. I highly, highly recommend it for all. read more

Wow what a beautiful place. This place is top-of-the-line. Everything is fresh, nicely painted, and clean. The woodwork is amazing. The detail is just incredible. On our way home from Washington back to California on Wednesday we found this place online. We called and were surprised they had a treehouse available. I think they don't typically book rooms during the week. Only weekends. They were willing to let us stay but couldn't do the gourmet breakfast that is so popular there. We were just excited to be able to stay in A treehouse so that was fine. They gave us a substantial discount. It was an amazing experience! My husband and I were the only ones there. We were able to tour the other tree houses since they were vacant. We met the builder. He was a very interesting guy. Very friendly. The treehouse had a toilet and sink but no shower. That was fine. We used the shared bath house. With more people it might've been a little difficult to get in But we had it all to ourselves. The tree houses don't really have great views. The price is a little steep and interesting that they're all the same price since some are nicer than others. But, they are all exquisite! Finding the place was a little tough. The sign for one of the turnoffs was very small and our GPS took us a different way initially. My husband didn't like the bed but it was fine for me. I think it was a memory foam bed and sunk in quite a bit when you laid on it. The room had a mini fridge and hot pot. I was surprised there was no coffee maker. Only instant coffee. But, not necessary if you were there for the breakfast. I was also surprised that most of the windows didn't open. Even though it was October the weather was wonderful and we would have liked to had the fresh air and open feeling. This would be a great place fora group vacation. We drove to the other treehouse resort in Cave Junction just to see what they were like. Although we didn't get to go into any of the tree houses, my impression is that the other one is more for families and kids. This one is better for adults or couples. More private and quiet. We stayed in the Calypso. Next time though I would choose the Cottage. The bedroom opened out to the Deck and the view was better, overlooking the meadow. We would love to go back! read more
