Yesterday I took my mother for a blood test to this lab. First Lady was careful and caring however unable to draw. She called someone else to do the job. She told me she is the manage. This person was a true vampire. Without evaluating the site and paying attention to the procedure required for an elderly patient and preparing the site by warming the area and locating a vain she punctured my mother's inner elbow nearly perpendicular to the area. Hitting all nerves muscle and possibly bones. My mother became tongue tied lost color, and twisting her upper torso in pain, but this lady manager (supposedly expert ) DID NOT PULL THE NEEDLE OUT for a long time. I could not sleep last night from the anger blaming myself for asking her to come to this lab. read more

Well, today NONE of that was an issue with Felicia! I highly recommend her. She had me in and out quickly, found my vein, I didn't even feel the stick (!!), and used a bandage that will be painless to remove. I highly recommend this office. read more

I got a surprise bill like many others two years after the fact; they claimed they didn't have the right insurance or address. I'm investigating further as a similar situation happened before and they incorrectly billed me for another amount. Here's what to do when this lab attempts to scam you with an old bill they failed to send to your provider: - RESPOND PROMPTLY. Write down the dates you call, and what was discussed. - If they still insist that you owe them money (they will) contact your provider and try to get them to talk to the lab. This won't do much, but the insurance company will now have a record of what's going on. Keep the name and number of the representative on file. - Be sure to move the conversation to email asap, so you have documentation (they will try to lie about when you first contacted them and will lie about calls they've received from your provider). Make it clear that they need to bill your insurance provider. If they claim they did and that the claim was rejected, DEMAND PROOF. - In the meantime (i.e. while they're trying to falsify evidence that they billed in a timely manner), have the appropriate provider send you a letter proving you were insured by them at the time of service. Send that to the lab. - If the lab is able to provide you with proof that your insurance company denied the claim (they won't be able to, but let's pretend), VERIFY it with said insurance company. Because this lab lies. - Make sure you keep copies of all the bills the lab sends you. - When they send the fraudulent debt to collections (they will do it no matter what, because they are scammers), PROMPTLY contact the collection agency. Send them all your proof and correspondence with the Lab. Mention that many online reviews of this lab discuss them pulling the same tactics on other patients. If the agency is an upstanding company, they will close your account. If not, you'll likely be in a position to sue them and collection agencies hate being sued. Good luck and make sure your medical providers send your samples to a different (in-network) lab. This should not keep happening to people. They can't keep getting away with this. read more

WORST LAB EVER. My doctor sent my blood work here and they only bothered to send me a bill A YEAR LATER! When I called them about how a good chunk of the money should've been paid by the insurance, I've received the RUDEST responses ever. First time I called, the guy wouldn't let me speak and kept repeating that I need to pay the money and proceeded to hang up. The second person I called told me that I should be thankful cause big labs would've sent my bill to the collection after 60 days and proceeded to hang up as well cause she had to clock-out!!! This is the WORST LAB you will ever go to/use, save yourself the hassle and use LabCorp or Quest, at least they're professional. read more

Earlier this year I received a call from a collections agency about an outstanding medical bill. I was very confused as I have never in my 36 years received a collections call for anything and I have always had medical insurance. The woman from the collections agency said Pacific Medical Laboratory had an outstanding balance for me for bloodwork they had done 3 years ago (!!!) and that they had just found my contact information so that's why they were reaching out now, with interest! I told her I had insurance during that time so I don't know why it wasn't applied to this. She didn't seem too interested in my story and would call daily for payment (700.00+) I contacted the Dr. who I had gone to for my check up, and they advised me Pacific Medical Laboratory is the lab they use for bloodwork. I explained them my situation- they advised me they sent PML all my insurance/ID information for them to submit. I called the insurance company I had at that time and they said PML never reached out for payment, but that the Dr. visit was noted and taken care of by them. I then call PML billing as the countless calls from this collection woman are getting out of hand and I speak to a gentleman who says he can reduce the payment to 350.00 but that I have to pay it. I've been furloughed since the beginning of covid so it was a huge sacrifice to pay that but I couldn't take another day of that collection agency woman calling me and I pay it. After I paid- I do further investigation and I ask PML what information they have for me, and they read my insurance # wrong of 1 digit. I ask the rep again to make sure its wrong on their end and she reads it 1 digit off. So PML contacted my insurance with the wrong number for payment (Im sure they responded saying this number isn't valid for that name- would they not??) I call again and I ask to speak to the billing manager- who says he will investigate the matter. I told him his rep read my number wrong, and that the issue must be on their end as my Dr. sent PML all my info with a copy of my insurance card but he says they have no record of how they got my insurance number submitted. I've left numerous voicemails for the billing manager asking for an explanation but no response. If he had proof they didn't write the number wrong then I would accept being out of pocket $350.00- but now with the research and no word from him all signs point that the error was on their end so I want my $350.00 back. Hopefully someone there sees this and gets back to me. read more

I received a bill from this facility that was postmarked after it's due date. After a long investigation on my part and many hours on the phone with the doctors office and insurance company, here is the information I determined. I visited a local doctor for an annual women's exam with blood work and this lab was the one analyzing my blood work. I had no choice or knowledge of which lab was doing my blood work and they ended up being out of network for my insurance (although the doctor was in-network). This was back in January 2017, 6 months before the Surprise Bill law would take place. In fact, the lab had submitted MANY claims with my insurance, all for small various amounts ($200 here, $250 there...) which in total added up to over $2000. They filed the claims at various dates, some of which were 6-9 months after my doctors visit. I actually got a new job during this time as well, so some claims were filed after my insurance at that time had ended. My insurance had denied their claim since they were out of network but during this time, I was moving locations due to my new job and did not get wind of all this until years later, when the collections agency caught up with me. During this process, of all the times I called the lab to figure out what was going on, it was a 10% that I would actually speak with a representative. Most of the time, the line would ring but take me to voicemail. I left several voicemails but never heard back. I've since cleared this up with the collections agency, so lesson learned. TL;DR this was a classic case of a surprise bill. There are laws in California to prevent this but always confirm with your doctor that the lab they will use is in your network. read more

Avoid this lab. I wish I could rate it with negative star amount. Long story short. I did a typical blood test. Year later this lab have send me a bill with threats about enforcing collection. Interestingly my insurance did pay them for all but one test. But they still tried to extort me for the whole amount they billed my insurance including tests my insurance paid them. When I called them they admitted that I don't owe whole about but only for that one test which was less than 10% of the bill. No apologies from them. read more

I want to commend Kristopher and his attentive assistant for their professionalism and skill in dealing with my elderly mother. She has had many a phlebotomist miss their mark and badly bruise her in the process, and she was really hesitant when seeing them approach her in her bedroom but they soon calmed her down with soft spoken kindness and a painless blood draw. It has to be illegal to tack on a $50 late fee for the bill that was being sent to the wrong address. I always use the correct address with my doctor. But this company sent bills to my old address. when they finally got the correct address they added a $50 late fee to my account. I did not have to wait long at all. I wish I would have known about them before as I have waited over an hour at the other labs. I have had a similar experience to the previous reviewer. But, let me tell you a I rarely write anyone a negative review--so the fact that I am doing it should tell you I am not a winer or a complainer about every little thing. Also, I an nurse practitioner, so I am not ignorant as to how the medical system works. First, let me say, to the best of my knowledge this company's lab got the wrong results, and I had their lab results checked with two other labs. Because of this lab, which my gastroenterologist suggested, I ended up taking antibiotics I did not need and being sicker longer. But, second, they repeatedly refused to bill my insurance company correctly, and after a year sent me a bill for $1000. This is still in dispute and I hope to someday correct this. Third, they took a ridiculously long time to do this test, about a week. I have never heard of a lab taking that long. And have sent my stool (poop) to other labs before and is took a maximum of 4 days. Bottom line, unless your insurance only pays for this lab, don't go to them. I don't know what causes their problems; but, they have a big problem. Go to Quest, Lab Corp, or a major medical center lab. read more

I am not typically the one who hands out 5 stars however I am inclined to do so for my recent experience with PML. My visit was for a complete blood profile which requires quite a bit of blood. The service and promptness of the staff was quite refreshing as compared to other medical offices I have visited. The technician did a great job with the process of taking the blood. Very efficient, smooth and gentle. Lastly, the billing process was so quick and easy to deal with..all around I was quite impressed and will definitely be back. My experience with Pacific Medical Lab exceeded my expectations. I will personally use and recommend this lab for future blood tests and lab work. I was looking for a lab for my 3 year old son's blood test. I first walked into a competitor with a lab order and asked for a cash price without insurance. The offered price was very expensive. The receptionist saw confusion on my face and suggested Pacific Medical Lab; she used to work for Pacific and knew that Pacific offers better prices and the quality is as good as other major labs. I drove directly to Pacific and walked into the office. The office was super clean and the staff was welcoming and friendly. Bennett, a receptionist, was very helpful and even asked upper management to give us discount. The price ended up half of what the other lab originally offered. I am also very satisfied with their quality; they sent a senior skilled technician who has experience with young kids to my home. She was the best technician I have ever seen in my life. I was afraid that my son would act violently, as he does whenever he sees needles; however, she had a natural talent of helping children feel calm and unthreatened. Our blood draw went peacefully and smoothly despite my son's apprehension--he did not feel any physical discomfort. She in fact was so good that my husband got her contact information and plans to use her for his blood draws. I am very satisfied with Pacific Medical Lab's price, service, and professionalism.
