We stopped by Pacific Catch for dinner over the weekend and really enjoyed the fresh California coastal vibes here. My hubby and son both ordered the Macadamia Nut Crusted Kanpachi with Kimchi Fried Rice -- one chose the grilled asparagus while the other went with the sesame green beans. Both plates were beautifully presented and the fish was cooked perfectly. My daughter loved her Poke Duo Bowl, and I went with the Sashimi Hand Rolls plus a side of Thai Brussels, which were honestly one of my favorite things we ordered. Everything tasted super fresh, flavorful, and the portion sizes were generous without feeling overly heavy. Service was attentive and prompt throughout the meal, and the decor had such classy California beach energy -- bright, modern, and relaxed. I left a bad review 3 years ago and they reached out to send them an email. I didn't see the email until this month of march 2026. When I emailed them they gave me 500 points to use on their app. I got the cabo calamari, poke & ceviche trio (original ahi Poké, serrano ahi poke, and Baja shrimp ceviche) shrimp tempura roll, and Thai tea. Food ratings: Calamari was a 7/10 it could be more fried/ crispier. The original ahi poke was 10/10! Serrano ahi poke is a 7/10 Baja shrimp ceviche 9/10! Shrimp tempura roll 9/10 Thai tea is 11/10! It was so delicious and it's only $6 unlimited drink ! What I didn't like is that you don't have the option to dine in when you order with the points. This was my first time trying this place and it was wonderful! The restaurant was very cute classy Oceanside vibes and very welcoming. We got a seat outside on the patio and it was so peaceful not even feeling like you're in a mall! The food was so fresh and flavorful! We actually eat Pacific Catch pretty often but mostly by ordering to-go or through a food delivery app. The food has always been pretty great even for take-out so I was interested to see if our dine-in experience would be any different. If you're coming for Happy Hour, let the host know because I think it's only available at the bar and/or the tables around the bar. Since we weren't interested, we asked to be seated in the outdoor patio. Cabo Calamari: Great appetizer to share, tons of bite-sized, crispy pieces. The chipotle aioli is spicier than you would think! I really liked that they also fried slices of lemons. Fish & Chips: Comes with three pieces of Alaska Cod, slaw, and your choice of fries, salad, or chips and salsa. The cod batter was fried crispy but I thought the fish was just okay. Not the best in San Diego, but not the worst. Korean BBQ: This is my go-to order and I usually get steak. Super saucy, which goes great with the kimchi fried rice. You also get an egg with the yolk still intact so I'll usually pop it and mix it in with the rice for some creaminess. I usually don't have an issue with the brussels sprouts but this time, it didn't seem like the flavors absorbed well so each bite was bland. Second time I've been to this place in the past two years and I am pleased to report they have maintained the same quality and consistency of their food. We started off this the fried calamari which was not greasy, very fresh and came with a dipping sauce which perfectly complimented the calamari. We then ordered the tacos, wifey got the fried shrimp and fish and I got the 3 taco combo, fried shrimp, fish and the Chilean Sea Bass...they were all excellent...they also came with the side of chips or salad...we opted for the salad with the miso dressing on the side...the salad was super fresh with micro greens, edamame and associated greens...it was super delicious and honestly did not even need the dressing. Thankfully, the staff still came around regularly and kept the food & drinks flowing. We sat in the bar area, adjacent to the indoor/outdoor bar where fresh air flowed throughout the space. Dining at a restaurant in a mall is always convenient with little ones because as an iPad-free family, we can take them outside for a stroll around the mall while waiting for the food to arrive. We ordered the guacamole and chips, steamed edamame, Korean ribs, fish taco platter, lobster and salmon sushi rolls (not pictured) everything was great for sharing, fresh and delicious! I wanted to give this restaurant another chance. When they first opened I had a fabulous meals. So excited I went back a couple weeks later and was highly disappointed. Fast forward a couple years I went back for dinner. Our server was delightful but my dinner went from bad to worse. I ordered the West Coat Style grilled salmon. The salmon was overcooked, so I sent it back. The second salmon was the same overcooked dry fish. Instead of asking if I wanted something else they tried a third time. Third time was not a charm - it was raw inside. At that point I handed back the dish. A few minutes later the a waiter came over and told us our meal had been comped. So I had no food. My kids did enjoy their dishes. So 1 star for raw food served. We all know that is unacceptable in any dining situation unless it is meant to be served raw. The Kanpachi from the grill was well done. One of the best things is the happy hour, which has full bar service and very good prices for the UTC Mall. Came here on a Sunday around noon and the place just had a sparse number of patrons for such a large establishment. Chose Pacific Catch mainly because my wife wanted to have a healthier meal though I would have chosen ramen or a smash burger. My wife got the salmon on the grill , seasoned with Asian herbs with a salad and Kim chee rice. Seeing that I wasn't craving for seafood (at a seafood joint), I opted for the Korean BBQ ribs with Kim chee rice and Brussels sprouts. So first thing I noticed it wasn't beef but PORK. And the ribs didn't have the Korean bbq taste I'm use to but had some generic southern style flavor that was trying to be Asian. It was mid. Portions was large but had that "straight from the freezer and cooked" taste. The Kim chee fried rice was clumpy, thick and I didn't enjoy it. The egg on top was good and helped eat some of the rice. There was a large amount of Brussels sprouts that would fill a separate entree. It was ok, it was topped with another sweet sauce that was fine but that wasn't supposed to be the focus of the order. I took home a lot of it to go but not sure whether I would eat it again but at least my dog can enjoy the bones. Stopped to have an early dinner and made it in time for HH. This is one of the better HH's in San Diego as they have more choices and great pricing compared to other HH's I've been too. We grabbed a free tacos Brussels sprouts fries (reg and sweet potato) and calamari (very good calamari). Service was great and food came out fast and was delicious. I probably should've tried a seafood dish instead but I ordered the Korean Steak medium rare based on pictures I saw. Plated nicely over a bed of brussel sprouts with kimchi fried rice, eggs and pickled cucumbers. 1st bite with all that sauce on it was way too salty. Steak came out pretty rare in the center but it was not bad after I scraped off all the sauce. I would suggest they put it on the side. I love that you don't have to wander around inside the mall to try to find this place. The entrance is right off the parking lot! Super cute outdoor seating area BUT it's right off the parking lot. I was sat quickly and my server came by at just the right time. He answered a couple of questions, took my order, and was on his way. He came back periodically to check on me but was never gone so long that I felt forgotten about. I ordered the taco platter with steak and shrimp and a side of sweet potato fries. Everything came out pretty quick. The tacos were good but they weren't as big as the server made them out to be. If you're pretty hungry you'll want to get 3. Many of the items I would normally order were gone. I was a little sad to not see some items. Got the calamari and shrimp tempura roll for apps. Sushi roll was great. The calamari was ok even though I was hungry but definitely not the best I've had. I think they were over fried and a bit salty. I got the West Coast Style Bowl and my friends got the Mexican Grill Bowl and a Waygu Burger. The food all tasted so much better than before. I feel that with the more limited menu, the kitchen is better able to concentrate on quality. The Burger was juicy and perfectly medium, not burned like it had been in previous visits. The bowls were fresh and full of flavor. The fish was cooked perfectly and moist. Just beware that the Mexican Grill is a bit spicy if you don't want spicy. Also got a Thai iced tea. Strong and not too sweet but tasted a little off. Probably should have waited to get a boba across the way after dinner instead. I took a glance at the happy hour menu. It looks good but we were not sitting on the patio or the bar so we couldn't partake. But the dinner menu is still reasonably priced for good quality food at a sit down restaurant in the mall that's clean and has a nice vibe without loud music. We were somewhat disturbed with all of the flies and gnats that were bothering us, and wondered what the rear end cooking area must be like (with all the seafood and fish smells). * With one in the party not liking anything spicy hot, we asked if the guacamole was spicy. We were told, "no." As a spicy food lover myself, fortunately I was the first to try it, loaded with fresh (and very hot) jalapenos. This appetizer that was ordered for all but was only edible to one. * I am not sure if it was a cost saving measure, my salad came with barely a sprinkle of dressing, not enough to coat half of it. I had to ask for more and a half dollar sized mini-bowl of extra dressing was brought out. * My fish 'n chips was okay, but definitely nothing special - similar to what you could expect at most any standard diner (being "Pacific Catch" I expected better). Pacific Catch is not a "high end" restaurant, but is more so a "middle of the road" level restaurant. I say that, because the food was something similar to what you would expect at IHOP or Denny's, but we surely paid much more here. I was cruising along the UTC area and felt like some seafood so I stopped by here. The place was busy as I walked in so that was a good sign. I ordered the Kanpachi with the Asian Herb Chimichurri. The "Elote" Corn was tasty, but the broccolini needed to be cooked a little longer The service was decent since our server was busy with other tables. This was the second time coming here. The restaurant is located inside UTC mall and is welcoming. This occasion we sat at the high top tables near the bar, prior it was the outdoor patio area. The service started out good and we were met with a friendly host who sat us. We quickly were provided waters and menus. Eventually we met the server who also was bartending. The bar at this time was not very busy. We ordered some steak and cod tacos as well as the herb garlic eggplant. Overall they were decent and the fish were very generous in size. The steak could have used more salt and a little more meat. Unfortunately during the time our food arrived until we finished, we did not receive a check in from the server/bartender to see how everything was and if we needed anything else. Overall this experience wasn't the best and definitely not the worst. read more

Located by the Almalfi Llma on the northeastern side of UTC (other shops nearby: Somi Somi, BenGong Tea) one can easily park on that side of the mall for quick easy access to the restaurant. Greeted right upon walking in and was seated promptly. Two servers immediately approached us and took our drink orders. Everything on the menu sounded good but we couldn't let our eyes take over and had to realistically order what we could eat. The guacapoke was refreshing. The lobster roll served with side of fries and drawn butter was guiltfully delicious. The macadamia nut crusted Konpachi is now my must here. Will come back to try other dishes. read more
