The owner responded about the accessibility and made excuses about the building being old, but that's not a reason to not prioritize access to patrons. No employee should have to be flagged, that's not accessibility. That is making disabled people jumped through extra hoops to achieve the same things as those who are able bodied. The Roman Colosseum, a 2,000 year old building, was made accessible. A small ramp can absolutely be built if accessibility is at all a priority to Hayes Burger, which clearly according to the owner's response, it isn't. For this reason, I took away a star.
I only came here for the Taste of Barrio Logan event but the staff were friendly and efficient, the vibe was cool, and the burger was great. I don't even usually like burgers but this one was definitely an exception.
I've always passed by this spot during the Future is Color events. It's always been an intriguing spot to try, here was my experience... FINALLY! AMBIANCE: Parking: Chicano park is a popping place but you can find some parking as long there's no major events happening - mainly street parking and some metered parking. Seating: Inside and some outside seating. Good for individual or parallels. There's enough seating for about 15 people total. Vibes: Welcome to Barrio Logan! It's a lovely place where you can learn about Chican@ culture. There are a lot of local gems from restaurants, books, to clothing shops. The spot itself is pretty neat. I dig the rock music and the local art and impressions left in this spot from the art to all the stickers that people left. No frills but a a great place to chill FOOD/DRINKS: Cheeseburger (Recommended) A classic perfectly done. The patty was both juicy and smashed well. A good slice of melted cheese, fresh lettuce and tomato, grilled onions, and that signature 1000 Island-style sauce that ties everything together. The flavor's balanced -- salty, tangy, and satisfying in every bite. Fries - Spicy Jimi style (Recommend) The fries were solid - crispy and fulfilling. The jimi is like "In-N-Out's Animal style - grilled onions, cheese, and sauce . CUSTOMER SERVICE: Alex was at the reg. He was a cool dude - helpful and professional. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Good prices, good food, and a pleasant experience. Hayes Burger proves that simple can still be spectacular. It's all about quality ingredients, good execution, and that neighborhood feel. Whether you're a local or just cruising through, this is one of San Diego's pleasant gems worth giving a try. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a quick bite. It has a very similar vibe to In N Out, the small menu, the burgers and definitely the Jimi Fries. It wasn't too busy and we found a table outside for two. The cashier was friendly and took our order quickly. We only ordered one meal to share and waited about 15 minutes for it to be served. The burger was good and fries were yummy. Everything is sold separately not sure if $15 for just a burger is worth it for me but I would order the $6 Jimi fries again

Place your order to go then, head for the Coronado Bridge and find a spot at the marina to dine. The menu at Hayes is also very basic. Burger or a burger with cheese and of course you can add your favorite condoments. I went with the double cheese burger with mustard, mayo and onions and a side of fries. Their burgers are good size but, a very basic smash burger. If your looking for that thick beefy burger, Hayes won't do. SCENE: Hayes Burger is located in the Barrio Logan area of San Diego, on Logan Avenue, directly under the Coronado Bridge and one block from Chicano Park. RECOMMENDATION(S): Hayes Burger is good, but IMO, not great but, I now can say I've tried it.
I'm definitely coming back to Hayes burger! Super delicious burgers and fries. I heard abou this burger joint from a friend so I decieded to take a trick to Barrio Logan and give it a try! I really appreciated the decor/art found inside and outside of the establishment. I ordered their double cheese burger with Spicy Jimi fries. The service was great. The burger was delicious! Brioche bun with some well done smashed patties, no ketchup was needed to enchance the burgers experience. Their fries were cooked to perfection, soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside, seasoned to perfection. It is a bit pricey but the experience is worth it , but hey lets supports someone's dream! Chicano park is located across the street and if you go during the weekeng you might be able to see some cool lowriders, see you later Hayes Burger!
Good burger joint in Barrio Logan. Their menu is very simple with several burger sizes, grilled cheese and fries. Easy to locate near the 5 south entrance and plenty of street parking. All the food we ordered was cooked to order, so everything took a bit, but it was so worth it. We ordered the single cheeseburger that was smashed to perfection. The crust on the meat was good and burgers were juicy and not dry. The patties are kinda thin, so depending on how hungry you are, might need to do the double meat. Burgers come with onions, tomatoes and lettuce. We also ordered a large order of fries. The fries were fresh and perfectly golden, the seasoning in them is bomb. The vibe is very chill and the staff is nice and welcoming. We'll definitely be back to try some of their other items.
Heard this was the best burger in town so I had to try it. Honestly I wouldn't put it at number 1 but it was actually pretty good. The fact that it's a 5min drive from me? I'd definitely get it again. The fries were delicious as well. I would like to eat this burger again when I didn't lag to pick it up and take it home. Instead, would want to try it in person when it's fresh and conduct a better review for it.

Great way to start my Saturday! Stopped by the OG location and found parking in the front. Enjoyed an amazing double cheeseburger and delicious fries. Double cheeseburger was freshly made, piping hot, well seasoned, and I thoroughly enjoyed each bite. Fries were hot, nicely seasoned, and so delicious with the spicy ketchup. Alex provided exceptional customer service. Such a nice guy, greeted us, and brought out our food. I recommend the outdoor seating and enjoying the beautiful sunny weather and local area. Finally got a chance to try it with some friends! - PARKING - Street parking only it seems like, but plenty of spaces up and down the street! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - The business itself is not very large, with only one table for 4 inside and some bar seating against the wall. There are a few seats outside, but not too many. Seems like most people take their food to-go. - FOOD - Hamburger: I usually order hamburgers so decided to go with the plain order for our first try. I definitely think it could've used more sauce, as I found myself wanting to dip the burger in their Spicy Ketchup (which was honestly the star of the show here). Decent flavor, but also found myself feeling peckish after. French Fries: Really tasty fresh cut fries. I love it when fries have the potato skin on them because you know they're fresher. Again, loved the Spicy Ketchup with these. - OVERALL - Personally it's not a top burger spot for me, but I can see why it's a neighborhood gem and beloved spot.

This Spot is Also my Vibe. Locals Only ;P Jkk When I roll past this place..... the Street Art is what caught my eye. Guerilla, Vibrant, Art . . .Stopped me in my Tracks. And, was so Special for me. Mm IYKYK .....the Art Reminds me of Certain Boyzz, which were a Huge Inspiration of mines, when I was in my Late Teens as a young Artist, ...which was Ages ago! I Love the Surf/Sk8 Vibe + Feel. So, the fries were greasy. But, the Atmosphere is Dopee.. And, so Chill. I would MOST Def. be Back. The 'Jimi Fries', are very comparable to 'Animal Style fries'...I would describe it like: a stoner's dream..., ...a cheat day's meal, &/or..a carb craving. Ended up trying this place out as it's located next to one of my favorite taco shops. It's a small shop with a simple menu but the food is packed with flavor! Their burgers and fries were cooked to perfection, not too greasy and seasoned really well with fresh ingredients. Very tasty food. The service was great. It's a very chill little spot with your San Diego vibes with a band decor around the restaurant, and enough seating inside and outside just for a few people. But the food here is definitely fresh, tasty, and worth checking out if you want to try something outside of all the typical franchise spots. Highly recommend read more

I usually enjoy coming here from time to time because prices are high and they can be inconsistent like today. This review is for my experience today. I call to place my pickup order, no answer. I call a couple minutes after, no one answers, I get it, it gets busy, I'll order when I get there. When I show up there is no one and I wait at the counter for a couple minutes. I briefly see a glimpse of someone standing in the kitchen. I try to make myself known. Girly pop comes out, no a smile, which whatever. But when I order (a cheeseburger and jimi fries) to-go, she scoffs at me when I tip her $2. Like alright, you clearly don't want to work here. When check my order, the fries are so soggy they seem like microwaved fries but whatever maybe jimi fries are soggy. And the burger doesn't have the pickles and chopped chile I payed for. I go back inside to ask for pickles and chile and she said that they are there, just at the bottom. I say they are not, I literally had to DISASSEMBLE my burger to show her in order to get my pickles. read more

I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 1:45 PM. I placed my order at the counter. I ordered a double cheeseburger, small fries, and a water, which came out to be $23 - a bit on the steep side in my opinion. It took about 15 minutes to get my order. They brought out spicy ketchup and regular ketchup. There's one table inside and four located outside for you to sit at and eat. However, there is the option to take your food to go. While I waited there were some unique cars driving by so that was entertaining. Parking was tough, but I made a block and luckily found one spot only a few minutes away. I did notice that the waiter gave someone else's order to the wrong table. They were snacking on the fries then when he realized his mistake, he came and took their burger and brought it to the table where it was supposed to go. The table returned the food, and they accommodated them with fresh burgers, but that was a bit of a concern due to sanitation. Overalll the guy at the counter was very friendly. I can see how this is a classic place. It's a simple burger with great quality. The fries were crispy. The only complaints were a bit of a wait to get the food out as well as the cost being on the higher side. read more
This is controversial but I think this is my favorite burger in SD! After living here for over two years and everyone saying we needed to go, we came today. We were greeted by the nicest staff and the food was super quick! The star of the show is the burger- it was so fresh, great lettuce (I know this sounds odd but I prefer crispy lettuce) and the buns were super fresh. Simple and awesome- highly recommend! Another new favorite and they aren't too far from me!! Yes, you'll hear the burgers resemble a popular chain, but that's where it ends. These burgers are seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The bun is a good size, soft, yet holds up to the job! The ingredients were fresh. Oh! And do not forget the fries. Hands down the best fries from a burger place. No lie! Try with the spicy ketchup, but I barely dipped as these babies were perfect as is!! If trying to avoid gluten get your burger lettuce wrapped. Can't wait to go back! Finally made it to the original! It was pretty hot outside so we just got food to go. I like the interior of this one better because it seems much more organic and down to earth. He: Double cheeseburger, yes? Dang, how did he know? I also had to have the Jimi fries. Burgers were so dang tasty! The workers were all pretty chill which is great! Simple menu so no reason to peruse. Just order a double cheeseburger! There's some small tables out in front, but lots of people today. There's also some great artwork in the lot next door. If you're looking for a fantastic burger spot in San Diego, I highly recommend Hayes Burgers. They specialize in smash patty burgers, and they do them right--crispy edges, juicy centers, and packed with flavor. Some of their creations give off an In-N-Out animal-style vibe, especially the Jimi Fries, which come loaded with grilled onions, cheese, and Thousand Island dressing. The spot has a cool, hipster feel with a young, laid-back crowd. Seating is pretty limited--just a few spots inside and a small patio that's basically on the sidewalk--so it feels more like a place to grab your burger to go since all the seats might be taken. It's counter service only, so there are no waiters--just order at the counter and wait for your food. Prices are reasonable, and it's just a short distance from the vibrant murals near Chicano Park, making it a great stop if you're in the area. Hayes is a Barrio Logan staple. The spot is so little but the way they make the burgers is incredible. I ordered double cheeseburger, Jimi fries, and a soda and it was so delicious. The burger had intense flavors coming from the spread they add to it and the meat is so perfectly crisp but still holds the texture of the meat. The Jimi fries were so cheesy and good and with the addition of their house habanero ketchup, it was perfect. I highly recommend checking Hayes out, you won't regret it! read more

There are steps up to the door on Logan Ave, so the entrance is not step-free. The patio out front is street level. The Adams Ave shop in Normal Heights is wheelchair accessible.

They posted on IG that they are closed the month of December (I'm still sad about this). They should be back at it come January so it can be a new year of eating all the burgers.
