1 star Ordered a chicken sandwich and the chicken was undercooked/raw inside. I had already eaten about half before noticing and had to spit it out. This is a serious food safety issue, not just a small mistake. Chicken should never be served like this. I've included a photo for reference. Definitely not acceptable.

Hand can cover the burger.

Been here before for the buffalo chicken burger. Was average. Server asked how it was and said it was okay and said we should have gotten a burger so we came back for that. And was disappointed. Hot head burger - 3/5 Average burger. Nothing stood out. Burger was only 4oz and it was very tiny. Sauce saved the burger for sure. And definitely get your own burger. Not enough to share. Basket of fries 3/5 Average fries, nothing special. Definitely recommend sharing fries instead of eating your own. Enough to share. Seating 5/5 Plenty of seating. Outdoor seating is nice and relaxing , inside seating as well. No trouble finding a seat. Overall, recommend coming to try it for yourself but prices do not reflect portion of food except the fries. But we all have a different opinion, so come and express yours.

This food truck came by my job today. First they limited the menu down to only a few items, which was disappointing to start. Secondly, the lady taking the orders was very short with us. She wasn't rude but you could tell that she didn't want to be there. There was no human connection. My coworker wanted to the burger with no onion but no modifications were allowed. I ordered the fries and the portion was generous but the fries were just ok. Unfortunately we weren't able to try the loaded fries due to the limited menu. We were really looking forward to the experience but it didn't line up to the hype.

My partner and I stopped by Bonehead Burgers for the second installment of our burger crawl. I'm rarely in Old Town, so it was a nice change of scenery. The restaurant has a very open layout, and on a sunny day like the one we had, it made for a great dining experience. We ordered the Hothead burger with a side of tots. The burger itself was good, but I'd say it was the toppings that really made it stand out, without them, it might have been a bit average. , The real standout, though, was the tots. Think Chick-fil-A breakfast tots, but better. Crispy, flavorful, and honestly hard to stop eating. Their signature sauce was solid and paired well with everything. If I'm in Old Town again, I wouldn't mind grabbing another burger here and of course getting a side of tots

Just finished our meal at Bonehead Burger Co! It was excellent. We had the Bonehead burger and the Hot Head Burger. The Hot Head was amazing! Definitely the better one in our opinion- so much flavor! The Bonehead was a very classic, good cheeseburger- though not incredibly special or standout. If you're craving a good classic cheeseburger, this the one. The star of the show were the fries!!!!!! Get them!!!! Seasoned to crispy delicious perfection. Good outdoor seating with good music and vibes!

Perfectly crunchy.

Yumm, great burgers and fries! My mom and I were in town and starving, and decided to try Bonehead burger because of the yelp reviews, and we were not disappointed! Great service, clean and plenty of seating!

Really impressed with Bonehead Burger! I'd seen them around in the food trucks, and was excited to see they have a storefront! Apparently they have trivia on Tuesdays, but we didn't get to experience that. Maybe they weren't doing it this week. Their storefront is tucked away in the heart of old town and is a nice switch up from the mexican restaurants in the area. We got a regular smash burger, a plant based smash burger, fries, and happy hour beers ($5!). Everything was absolutely delicious and I appreciated how much deliciousness they put on the plant based burger (cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions). Sometimes restaurants don't put as much care into the plant based options as the regular options but that's not the case here. It's definitely the best plant based burger i've had in SD. Would definitely return to this spot! Parking was also really easy on a Tuesday night.

Located inside Old Town Urban Market, Bonehead Burger has been on our list of smashburgers to try in San Diego. Street parking might be a little difficult but I parked at one of the lots around the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park for free and walked over. Happy hour is every Monday to Thursday from 4PM-8PM! There are a lot of outdoor seating and it's all covered by a roof. We went closer to sunset so we had a beautiful view and there was a nice cool breeze. Since it's part of the market, feel free to order and take your food to another area. We ordered at the front and were given table numbers to bring back. If you come on Mondays, they also have military discounts of 30%! Fries and Tots: Both come with huge portions, more than enough for a party of 4. Very crispy and not too salty. We decided to add cheese to the fries and it was good while it was melted but once it solidified, it became a pain to eat. I would just recommend ordering the regular version of either fries or tots to enjoy. Chicken Wings: Since it was happy hour, we ordered two flavors: Lemon Pepper Rub and Buffalo. Each order came with 6 chicken wings. Surprisingly, each wing was a decent size even though they were for happy hour. The meat was crispy and not dry at all. Burgers: The Kenny B Burger is a standard smashburger so it was a good baseline to compare to other smashburgers. I ordered it with a double patty and this was the perfect amount of food for me. The flavors were good and this was a very juicy but greasy burger, which I don't mind at all! But I can see people turned away because of it. The bonehead sauce is like In-n-Out's thousand island sauce and LTPO is lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion. I also got to try the Bonehead but because of the maple bacon, it was more of a sweet/savory burger and I liked the Kenny B more. Overall, I enjoyed the burger and would come back again but my friends thought the grease was too much.

Our friend was craving burgers while she was here in town and we really wanted to show her Old Town so we were happy to find this place. The location is great. The weather outside was beautiful and we loved walking around the shops after eating here. The food itself was a lot of fun. I liked getting the taco versions of a burger and the tater tots with cheese as a side dish was so much bigger than I anticipated. Very shareable. The flavors worked well together and everything was savory. I also appreciated they had a big napkin and utensil station for us to grab what we needed. I was a little bummed they didn't have any tap water and we had to buy a bottle but other than that, full marks for a cute little place!

During the week, we were running some errands and decided to grab dinner. Felt like a burger. Yelped around and Bonehead came up with good reviews. Food first... we got a double smash with cheese and a side of bonehead tots (flat tater tots) topped with bacon, cheese and green onions. Let's start with the burger... it was extremely dry, messy and not very flavorful. Tots were one note, globed together, it was very difficult to eat since we ordered it togo and brought it home. The tots congealed into one giant blob. But let's talk about the experience.... We came at dusk, so about 6:30 pm. They are located in Old Town at the Urban Market on Congress which has a raised deck area to order and for dining. We ordered and hubs went to use the restroom. I snapped some pics and went into the open dining deck area. While checking out the happy hour menu I immediately felt like I was getting bit. Less than a min later, I saw the hubs and told him I was getting eaten alive and heading back to the car! Thankfully we were parked just across the street but unfortunately it was not close enough! I don't know if they followed me into the car or what, but I was pretty sure I had at least a dozen bites between my legs, toes and arms by the time I got into the car! I was dying and it was horrible! I couldn't stop scratching!!! Never heard or seen them coming but my legs got destroyed! This was a horrific nightmare!!! My legs were extremely itchy for over a week! Not just any kind of itchy, it was let me scratch my legs bloody and raw kind of itchy... for almost two weeks! I had to get checked out by my doctor to make sure I was not going to get an infection from the open wounds. Was not worth it and will absolutely never go back again! NEVER AGAIN! Series: 2 2025: 59

Thin, smashed burgers with generous side portions. It's as basic as it can get. Friendly service. TVs available for sport game days and draft beers, too. We came on a random weekday night, and they were pretty slow/empty. I would think it'd be a nice hangout spot during the day.

Yum this was aGOOOOOD burger. Nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. If in Old Town give it a try! I do suggest they have cups for water though- having to buy a bottle for my 3year old granddaughter was the only disappointment.

I had the pleasure of going to bonehead burger. The signature Bonehead Burger is the star. The patties have those perfect crispy, lacy edges you want in a smash burger, complemented by the sweetness of maple bourbon bacon and the crunch of onion straws. The service was immaculate and Bri was such a sweet heart and gave us amazing service. I will definitely be back here again!!

The only thing good about this food truck was the French fries. The customer service from the lady was very rude! She was very dismissive.

I ordered a cheeseburger with grilled onions, and they did not put grilled onions in it. An In-N-Out burger without grilled onions is still great, but it's not spectacular. Grilled onions are a must. I muddled through. They must have put the grilled onions on my sons's burger, who requested no onions, because he said it was amazing, and when I checked, it had grilled onion on it. I said, "See! You love it because it has grilled onions on it!" This went to prove my hypothesis that grilled onions are better than no grilled onions. We ordered fries, cheese fries, milkshakes (strawberry and chocolate), and some soft drinks, and the whole thing was paradise, as In-N-Out is. There are some tables outside of the restaurant, and we sat outside in the glorious Southern California sun and devoured our lunch. There's nothing like In-N-Out.

We were lucky to arrive right before the lunch rush in the drive-thru. There were two team members taking orders so it went by very fast. We ordered a Double Double with grilled onions, two patties on the side without salt and fries. We were greeted with a warm smile by Jake. I forgot to request pickles and he happily added some on the side. He even educated me on the donation program to combat human trafficking. He made the visit much more enjoyable! We hope to see him next time we come back.

This place has been a staple of ours, we've seen the different menu changes over a few years. We've done Cinco De Mayo, date nights, and brought family here. Unfortunately they got rid of our favorite chocolate cake (a few years ago) and we're still holding out hope they'd bring it back. We always get the short rib machaca cheese crisp, it's been a solid choice 6 years and counting. It's very crispy and comes with guacamole on top, but serves almost like a pizza. This time around we tried the birria taco and it was good, we even dipped our cheese crisp in the consumé. We tried the apple empanada, I'll definitely get it again. It's not too sweet and very crispy; a good sharing option where you can have one each! *Not pictured is the carafe of sangria we had. We almost always get it, if we don't get a margarita. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating. The outdoor has some umbrellas and lights. The booths inside aren't high backs, but still nice. Can get a little loud some nights, but nothing too crazy. Of note, if you're watching a movie at AMC they're still doing discount for your meal!

My work team met up here on a Friday evening to celebrate a promotion. I believe there were 10 of us. Table was already set up for us since our Lead made reservations. Chips and salsa were already on the table. So I have to say, it's extremely loud in here. To the point I was getting a headache due to us practically screaming at each while talking. It wasn't overly crowded but a steady flow of people coming through. The menu consists of your typical Mexican food restaurant. I ordered the Spicy Tiger Shrimp fajitas, and a El Tesoro tequila-neat. Their fajitas are not served sizzling hot on a skillet like other restaurants. You get you choice of beans and tortilla(3), rice not included. The 5 shrimp were plump, however they were not spicy at all, like zero. They were served with plenty of jalapeños though so I'm assuming that's where the "spicy" comes in??? I also don't understand why leave the tails on the shrimp! As the customer, who wants to sit up there and take the tails off getting your hands all messy... ugh I digress! The beans were ok but lacked any kind of flavor. I would also suggest looking at your bill before you pay. The 1st check they gave me had the incorrect drink, she then brought me another bill but the charge showed $4 more than what was displayed on the menu. I paid it because at this point I was over it and ready to leave. I do not plan on returning.
