    Smoke and Smash
    Matt M.

Was craving burgers and wanted to try something new so came here after searching around. It's attached to the bar Sidecar which is easier to see from the street. You order at an outside window and there are some tables to sit outside if you don't want to go in the bar. Gf and I grabbed the Smash & Grab and the Smoke & Smash burgers; both doubles which is the way to go. Burgers were delicious and I'd say you won't go wrong with either! Also got some cajun fries on the side. Flavor was good but they were on the soft side of fries and I am a big crispy/well-done french fry guy. Not bad but I'd ask if they could do them well-done next time if possible. My only big issue was the wait time was pretty long on a Tuesday night with not many other people waiting. May be an issue on a busier night or weekend. Overall solid burger spot that I would definitely go to when in the area!

Sadly the burger did not live up to the hype. Smash burger seemed extra smashed as it was dry. So can't give it a good rating. Smash Burger - 2/5 sadly. Just too dry and needed lots of ketchup to help. Hot and tender 5/5 - SUPER spicy but it builds up. After three bites you need a drink. But the spices work so well and the chicken tender was literally TENDER. Fries 4/5 - great flavor, not greasy, and fresh.

Hit up the Shed before a show at Brick X Brick. Order a double smash burger from the cool chica at the Shed. They brought me my burger and fries. The fries were tasty and plentyful. The burger was super crispy, tasty and filling. The sauce they use is def flavorful, next time I might say easy on the sauce. Might be my new spot before shows

Awesome attachment to Sidecar bar. Food is fairly priced and comes out quickly from this literal shed. Service was accommodating. The burger was very flavorful. Great for those who enjoy smash burgers. The fries came out piping hot in a massive portion. Great outdoor ambiance. Would definitely return to sample their tri tip and sous vide chicken options!

My friend and I were looking for a quick bite during our brief lunch break near our office. We needed something with seating and that was a short walk. As there are not a lot of options in that area, The Shed was one of the few options that met our needs. The Shed is on the same property as the Sidecar Bar, and it is set up in the small parking lot, along with a section of picnic tables. It wasn't until I researched online that I learned that The Shed was open during the day. We arrived and read over the short menu. There was a bell to press to get service. When we did, the server came right out. I wanted something a little healthier, so I chose the grilled chicken protein bowl. My friend ordered the single smash burger. We sat down to wait, and the food came out quickly. It was pleasant to sit outside. I really enjoyed my food, as did my friend. I do wish their menu were a bit bigger and that they had a few more healthy options. Given my work location, I will likely have lunch there agin.

The Shed Kitchen is the latest vendor to function as the food service arm for Sidecar Bar on Morena Blvd. It occupies a small shack adjacent to Sidecar's main structure. I recall seeing a taco business that once operated from this space before it moved into a brick-and-mortar setup elsewhere in town. A few picnic tables were arranged in front of the shack if you wanted to dine al fresco on-site. On Tuesday to Thursday, The Shed does not open until 3 pm while on Friday to Sunday, lunch service begins at noon. For lunch (which runs until 6 pm), there was one burger combo, one fried chicken sandwich combo, and rolled tacos available as specials. The full menu offered two burgers, two tri-tip sandwiches, a chicken sandwich, tenders, wings, and mac 'n cheese with buffalo chicken on one page. The other page featured quesadillas, tacos, and fries. The Shed Cheesesteak was what I originally wanted to order, however it was unavailable/sold out. My backup choice was Just The Tip. Slices of medium rare tri-tip were placed inside a brioche bun topped with frizzled onion and chimichurri. Perhaps it was because of the stack of fried onions, but I felt the sandwich was dry even with the chimichurri sauce added. For $17.70, there was no side included which was unlike at least one local BBQ joint. They have a similar price for a tri-tip sandwich with a choice of one side.

I've left Sidecar plenty of love, but never gave The Shed their time in the spotlight, so here we go. The Shed is just that. It's a shed... duh. It sits adjacent to the entrance of Sidecar and is impossible to miss as patrons walk into the bar. What some may not know when walking past The Shed is that within the narrow walls lays a kitchen that produces some top-tier, possibly best bar food in the area. We've gotten everything from burgers and wings to chipotle chicken quesadillas to birria quesadillas and have never had a bad meal here. Most recently, my fiancee and I split a birria quesadilla and some lemon pepper Serrano wings. It was the perfect amount of food and with the assistance of an extra side of birria dip and ranch dressing we finished everything in our basket down to the little crispy cheese flakes that had flaked off the quesadilla. Yes... they were that good! It's so convenient to patrons and I love how you can be sitting in Sidecar enjoying your cocktail and can order food from The Shed at the same time. Sidecar makes it especially easy by having little QR code cards with The Shed's menu and you can even pay with apple pay. Once your food is ready, you'll receive a text that your food is ready for pickup at the window. It's a very efficient operation and the food is amazing. Thanks for the amazing food!!!

So this place is attached to sidebar. It is a small space, but you can eat outside and if your drinking at the bar you can eat your food there as well. I would say overall, the staff was very quick. As soon as you push the button they to come to the window and take your order. Make sure you know what you want before you push the button haha. The food was great. It tasted amazing. I would highly recommend this place.

Just the tip and an order of the entanglement.

My husband and I came at 3:30 pm on a Sunday and no one was in line and there were open tables. We ordered two "just the tip" sandwiches and "the entanglement " The trip Sandi was overflowing with well seasoned and cooked to perfection tri tip ...my husbands was more on the rare side than mine the chimchurri was a perfect sauce pairing and the bun was toasted and soft but held up to the meat. The fried onion to top it off was an obviously perfect addition. 4.5 stars The entanglement was so good fried banana peppers, homemade French fries and fried jalepeno circles..... perfect seasoned and very crispy batter. I would probably order just the banana pepper rings cause I picked them all out to be sure I got them all! The fries are very good and so were the jalepenos. Shack sauce was a Smokey had a little heat it was just ok for me. The homade ranch was excellent. Next time I want to try the other ranch flavors. The only negative I have is the lady who served us. She had a very flat affect and seemed completely annoyed with life in general. I'm not sure if it's just her personality or she was actually being rude ... with such an upbeat ambiance and bar Nextdoor I would expect more courteous service with a little kindness. I won't take a star away for it ... the food held up over the service .

Just had another amazing meal at The Shed! I got their version of a spicy chicken sandwich called Hot in the Henhouse--perfectly crispy with just the right kick, and the cabbage and banana peppers added a great crunch. This was our third visit, and it never disappoints. My husband had a burger and literally said it was his favorite one ever. Definitely a go-to spot for us now! And service was friendly as usual.

The chicken tenders are fat, always fresh, virtually always juicy, and seasoned like a 20 year veteran. The crinkle cut fries are beautifully crisp and heavenly dusted with that sweet and spicy goodness. The ranch and MC sauces are bangin' to boot. You can't execute all of that meticulous perfection without the care and attention of the staff, so my extreme appreciation goes out to each and every one of them. A little cup of ranch was $1.07 more. 2nd meal was a Combo 1 spicy, which is a white meat chicken sandwich with coleslaw and pickles, a chicken tender, and fries. And the same tube of sauce for the chicken tender sandwhich... $15.99. FYI this is a combo that does not include a drink, had I know that I would have gotten the dark meat chicken sandwhich. As a drink is $3, so it would make a combo 1 with a drink just about $20 with tax. Absolutely not worth it. It had some spice and not much flavor. Why they used a chicken strip and not the chicken portion listed was quite odd. But they did add a 2nd tender. I was not impressed with the 3 tenders and little bun that I had. The fries were a decent portion but over seasoned. Both ordered slaw on the side and extra pickles. That turned into 1 side of pickles for $0.99. The quality of food did not match the price. It lacked flavor and just not something I'd get again. The cashier was on her phone the entire time I was there often while customers waited for her attention. Also the tables are all dirty and the trash was overflowing when entering the building not a good look . Definitely will not be returning there is better places

I'll have to knock down the rating 1 star just because compared to CAVA and chipotle the options here are quite limited (chicken being the only protein) which is completely fine if you just want chicken. Also I think $17 is quite the hefty price for one bowl HOWEVER, they do really give bigger portions here so at least that makes me feel better about spending almost $20 on a bowl. This is located in Ocean beach, a neighborhood in San Diego that doesn't have too many options so this will be the best next thing to getting chipotle and cava. I think if I lived here I would come quite often but not worth it in my opinion to drive all the way here.
