Freshly made cheese smash burger, so good! More cheese and onions will be requested next time.
Patricia U.

Small local hamburger joint, limited menu but worthy. Clean with cool art work on the walls, plus the young man who cashiered was very friendly. Warm day, brought us ice water while we waited. Smelled so good in there. I could compare it to a N & O, but I won't because it's 100% better, especially since it is homemade. The crust on the burgers edges was perfection, cheese melted just right, should've asked for 2 slices of cheese, crispy iceberg lettuce, small amount of grilled chopped onions (more please, next time) and a thinly sliced tomato. Not overly seasoned or salted. Fries were crispy, rhixk and lightly salted. Fabulous! Took it to go because it was warm out and it didn't seem like their a/c was on. I would definitely return!

Hayes is a cute little burger spot in normal heights! They only have a few parking spots so would recommend street parking. My friend and I both got the double cheese burger and split a jimi fries. The burgers are simple and delicious! They are on the pricey side though since the burgers don't include fries.

My favorite burger + fry combo in San Diego. It's underrated. Price was about $16. Casual little local burger spot. Their original location is in Logan. I absolutely love this place, it's like an elevated version of an in-n-out burger. Simple burger. Their fries are my favorite with the spicy ketchup! It's a tiny solid burger spot. Small, but mighty menu. Patty is on the smaller side, but it's a perfect meal for me. I love this place since the burgers are not super greasy or heavy and I don't feel like crap afterwards. The spicy ketchup is a plus! Only a few parking spots so it is mostly street parking. Service was great, staff were kind and my food was out quick. You may hear that the Friendly is better - they're both 5/5 in my book - they're just two different styles of burgers!

Cute little shop with a delicious burger, good fries, parking, and lovely service! There are a few parking spots right outside in this little plaza - when we went all the spots were taken but we found street parking a block away. Looks like lots of cars coming and going to pick up to-go orders though, so spots were opening up pretty quick. The store is small and cute, and the staff was super friendly. He asked if we've been here before and kindly walked us through our options on the menu. I got the cheeseburger and Jimi fries (animal style), both were really good! The smash burger had a nice crispy edge. The fries had good texture and the toppings were good and not overly salty. Super solid!

Parking - They have a few spots in front of the restaurant shared with other business but mostly just street parking. Didn't have a problem with parking during lunch during the week and they weren't too busy. Order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Inside and outside seating. Staff friendly. They are an In-N-Out dupe, and are pretty good however they are almost 3x the cost. Tried: Jimi (Dirty) fries $6.25 - super long fries just like animal fries. Good. Double cheeseburger $14 - the patty was super oily, not really my thing. Flavor was good. Overall I prefer In-N-Out for taste and price but with their long lines it's not always easy so Hayes is a good spot to visit if you don't have that kind of time.

Adams Ave between the 15 and the 805. Next door to a Rolberto's. Some parking spots upfront, but street parking is probably more realistic. Service was friendly and great overall. Some of the decor was unique. Double cheeseburger was good by itself and adding spicy ketchup to it made it even better. Jimi Fries were pretty good. The fries themselves were a bit overdone for my taste, but still tasted great.

A la carte menu. Small burger spot, maybe fit 8 people inside. Food was alright, didn't justify the prices. Friendly staff.

On our journey to find the best burgers in San Diego, we came across Hayes Burger. Social media looked promising and we saw a lot of advertisements for their smash burgers. Someone on TikTok had rated them highly so we had high expectations. The restaurant isn't that big inside and they've got an even smaller parking lot in front. No restrooms for customers too. It was super hot and stuffy inside and there were flies everywhere. Sitting outside in the summer heat was more tolerable than the stuffy restaurant and all the flies. When we got our food, I was expecting smashburgers but I don't agree that these were. When I think of smashburgers, I imagine thin patties with a slight crisp along the edges. These were regular sized patties, no crisp along the edges. And although it was good, it tasted no different from In-N-Out and I couldn't justify the price. These burgers are pretty expensive for what they are. You're better off spending the same amount of money at In-N-Out and getting double the food. Their Jimi Fries are essential dupes of In-N-Out's Animal Style Fries. Overall, because of how similar it was to In-N-Out, I was disappointed. With the higher price, I would've expected something that was bigger or tasted unique or delicious, but we got average tasting burgers instead.

It's a tasty Smash Burger! 80s music, nice. Decent parking and fast friendly service. Easy on the wallet. Happy experience.

Cheese Burger with Pickles

Hayes Burger's makes a nice cheeseburger. They use Angus 100% ground chuck, so the flavor and juiciness of their burgers are there. I had the cheeseburger with all the fixing except only mustard for my sauce. I also added pickles to my burger. The burger comes with a toasted brioche bun. The burger tasted very good, especially the beef. I liked the freshness of the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The brioche bun was perfect. I only wish the three oz patty was a four oz patty. A little larger beef patty on this burger would be just grand, especially since it costs $11 and some change. The service was very friendly and welcoming. They offer a few tables inside and outside.

4.5 stars Came to try Hayes burger's new location, in North Park. I got a double cheese burger and a small fries the total came out to $18 and change. The Burger is made of 2, 3oz smash patties, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato on a toasted brioche bun with 1000 island dressing ($14 for a double). I'd say it was an upscale In-N-out burger or maybe a cross between In-N-Out and The Friendly's Dirty Flattop burger. The smash patties and grilled onions remind me of the Dirty Flat top but fresher, as it comes with lettuce and tomato. The smash patties have a lot of crusty surface area which give it a nice texture, it was a bit salty but I was ok with it, as it had a very meaty taste. I also got a small fries ($3.48) which I though was rather large and enough to share with 2 people. They are hand cut as you can see the skins on some parts, but they are much crispier than In-N-Out. They actually treat them properly, I think they are dried and double fried, which In-N-Out fails to do. A double cheese burger and small fries was a lot of food, I think I would share the fries with someone or order a single cheeseburger next time, or a double cheeseburger and skip the fries. Service was very simple and easy, just walk up and order, they bring it to your table. They have both a regular and a spicy ketchup. I didn't find the spicy ketchup spicy at all initially but the mild spice kicks in a little later. It's very mild so I think the majority of people could handle this. There was a neon sign but since I went during the day, it was washed out by the sun so I could not see it. Since they close during the early evening, the sign cant be seen the majority of their working hours. I think a plastic sign that is back lit would be better or paint "Hayes Burger" on the wall behind the sign so you can see something during the day. I passed the place because I couldn't see the sign. They are located In the Adams Plaza between Thai Joint and Robertos Taco shop, so look for those signs. They do have parking out front but share them with the other businesses. Theres only a single row of parking spaces so when you pull out you have to back out into traffic which I don't like, so I prefer to park on the street. Overall a very tasty burger, a bit pricy for 3oz patties but if you want a fresher, upscale version of The Friendly's Dirty Flat Top or In-N-Out then check out Hayes Burger

Yes, I will be there next month with my whole gang celebrating with me on my special day! Our reservations were early, arriving on time @ 5:30 it was a bit quiet with only two other tables, but not for long. In no time every single table was filled. The restaurant was busy and the wine was a'flowin'! This quaint and very special restaurant reminds me of a small restaurant in San Diego in the 1980's, "Ciao Bella". It was located downtown on 4th Ave., it was also chef-owned. When you dine at a chef owned restaurant you are most likely destined for greatness, or a great meal! This is the case at Angela's Kitchen 'Carbon', because there is pure authenticity in her dishes and a whole lotta' love delivered in each plate. The subtle, warm decor is welcoming and the music is played at the perfect level. Just the right ambiance. Once seated, you'll be promptly greeted and the attentive wait staff will have your wine delivered pronto. What a selection they have. I started with the prosecco and moved on to the Sangiovese which complimented my pappardelle perfectly. My friend ordered the grilled salmon and had the Montepulciano Abate Pietro. The delivery of their fresh bread with garlicky pesto, and another with tomato, which I think was a focaccia. Just amazing. We asked for olive oil to compliment the bread: it was the very best of quality with a dark Sicilian olive green hue and the smoothness with the polyphenols and antioxidants dancing in my mouth. Yum! I asked for a side of Parmigiano and they brought a nice square ramekin full of finely grated cheese, Perfection!! These are the details that make me fall in love with a restaurant, causing me to return again and again. Both of our entrees were executed perfectly, the vegetables were grilled leaving a slight char, and the salmon was grilled just right leaving a tender center. My pappardelle was dressed in the deepest, richest mushroom + beef cheek fusion of flavors with whispers of some kind of red wine like maybe the Nero d'Avola that they feature on the menu. WoW!! This is a dish that you want to take your time savoring. Every bite surpassed the last, and then a sip of the Sangiovese and I was in fresh pasta heaven. Just when we were winding down and reeling from being overwhelmed by the amazing food, Angela came to our table with cannoli. It too was amazing! This was such a kind and unexpected gesture from the chef/owner. Grazie mille, a domani!

Their outdoor seating with patio is beautiful! This place is absolutely divine! At this point, I dont really care about how the food tastes. Lol! Let's start off with the one problem i had with this place. The parking!!! It took me 20m to find parking and im not about to park my car on the street. I have precious dogs! Lol kidding. I just couldn't find any parking on the street or in the block! I suppose i came during lunch which is probably really busy. When I left, there were quite a few opened parking spots. This place is connected to an apartment complex surrounding retail stores. The leasing building is right next to Gravity Heights. I used to rent a 4k+ a month apartment in a retail area and let me tell you, its a hassle to find parking and not take a retail parking spot without having your complex email you everyday about your car potentially being towed lol! I understand this pain. Now that we are past that, let's get to why this place deserves 5 stars. The service is excellent! My server came around at the perfect times and they seem to really care if I enjoyed my meal! The stellar atmosphere with attentive service is enough for me! I got a gravity burger protein style which I dont think did the burger justice. I was going to eat with my husband later at a Vietnamese restaurant and I can only choose one carb for the day. My diabetic life is tough! Lol. I chose the Cesar salad to go with my burger. My burger was delicious bc of the caramelized onions. I didn't really taste a sauce in the burger but the excellent bacon with the much needed caramelized onions made the burger fantastic! The IPA hazy beer i had with my meal was also light and mellow. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and meal. My babies also enjoyed their burger! The weather was perfect today and it was a nice time and to think I was not going to eat here bc the parking definitely was a huge deterrent. Next time ill bring human company!

We also ordered some oysters, the shrimp aguachile, and the smashburger to share which were all tasty. Service was good, our waitress was friendly and checked up on us. Overall a successful happy hour visit and would visit again as they seem to have a rotating menu.

The decor is beautiful with greenery around the restaurant and the food even comes in cast iron pans or on wooden slabs. My husband and I came on a weekday for the happy hour. They sat us right away and allowed us to choose where we wanted to sit. The waiter and waitress were great. They were super helpful, prompt, and went back and forth between the bar and our table. We ordered off the happy hour menu and got a flatbread, pretzel platter, and truffle fries. It was surprisingly very filling. The flatbread was more pizza like in my opinion with a doughier crust but with a lot of flavor and not too heavy. The fries were delicious with truffle and garlic flavors. The waiter gave us a side of their Caesar dressing as well as we asked for ranch and this was closest thing they had to it. It also came with another aioli like sauce that I really liked too. The pretzel was huge and came with two sauces- a cheese sauce and a honey mustard butter like dip. The butter was whipped and surprisingly nice with a hint of sweetness that balanced the mustard taste. The pretzel itself was a bit dry so the sauces were very necessary. My husband also ordered a beer from the happy hour menu but got charged the regular price. We didn't realize until after we already had our card swiped but it wasn't a big difference so we just paid it since everything was already pretty cheap. But will be checking the charges before we pay next time just in case! Overall, great experience at One Door North with delicious food. I think I will be back for some more adventures here!
