My friend has said that she's waited an hour plus for a table as a walk in. I could understand why it came so highly recommended from a friend. The butterscotch matcha was to die for. It wasn't overly sweet and the Matcha was so smooth. Portions here are very generous. The beignets were good, but I probably didn't need them after getting our entrées. I got the curry hamburg which was basically an elevated loco moco. The curry was rich and had a little kick to it. My husband got the fried rice, which was solid with the fried chicken on the side. The kids loved the eggs and sausage. The French toast was a bit too crispy on the edges for them but overall they enjoyed everything also. There's lots more for me to try on the menu. Can't wait to come back! The only downside about this place is the parking!

Our sever took our drink orders and appetizers a few minutes after we sat and had a chance to go over the menu. The food was delicious. Fresh, bold and unique. Every dish had it's own personality. The fried mushrooms with chili crisp was the standout dish. Our group all agreed it was fantastic! Even our friend who is not fond of mushrooms agreed! The matchas were delicious and especially matcha-y. The color was vibrant and I can tell they did not skimp on matcha powder. The only hiccup was that my entree (shared with my friend) took a very long time to arrive. Which was strange because it was a salad harvest bowl with fish protein. We were a little pressed for time since we were getting picked up for Mexico soon. We decided to cancel the order. The sever was well versed on service recovery. Not only did she remove the charge, she packed the bowl to go and offered us complimentary dessert. It was a berry panna cotta and it was superb. All and all it was a great start to Mother's Day. I am very grateful my dear friend Nikki, a local SD resident, recommended this neighborhood North Park gem.

Parking can be a bit of a challenge but we found some spots on the side street. The staff is always friendly! Today there was a special, chili cheese on a tater tot waffle. Yes Please!!! This dish was very tasty! Good seasoned chili on a crispy tater tot waffle! My only complaint was the size which was reasonably priced. I wished it was bigger, and I would definitely pay more!!! I also got a cinnamon latte, iced, so good! I like sitting out on their street patio. It is very pleasant!

We had a fried chicken and egg biscuit and an egg and avocado biscuit, as well as a cold brew. The biscuits themselves are definitely stars of the show, with well-balanced, buttery-flaky texture that falls apart yet maintains its structural integrity. The gravy is sumptuous and has depth, with a good body and no runny-ness. All the fixings--eggs, chicken, avocado, cheese--are solid additions that play their part well. The restaurant is deceptively large as well. Outside on the back sidewalk you'll find a row of about 10 booths, adding to the ~7-8 seats inside. I find sitting outside to be best, since the place gets so busy it can be hard to actually comfortably sit inside. Friendly staff, easy system, good food, a large range of drinks--it's hard to go wrong here. Just be sure to come hungry! It's definitely a heavy-ish breakfast or lunch!

The lady at the counter said that a lot of people say the apple pie slice is better than Julian's apple pie. I think that if it were as fresh as the Julian one, I would agree but because the slice tasted like it have been sitting there for at least six hours, maybe even overnight, I would just say that it's a really good slice of apple pie. It has a crumb topping, which is a nice addition which the Juliann apple pie does not have. The filling is chunky and very brown sugar-y which makes it very delicious. The ice cream was also good. The chicken pot pie was my favorite though. So warm, and the crust was nice and flaky. The portion is really good. That was my dinner and it was the perfect amount. The inside had a generous amount of chicken which I really appreciated overall. It's such a comforting food and I love that. It doesn't taste like it's 1,000,000 cal. It was $13 for the pot pie, which is a little much but considering that it's pretty big and filling as a meal I wouldn't say that it's toooo bad.
