Chicken parm vodka and pesto. Do it
Scott A.

Not sure what's with so many bad reviews. Easily should be over 4 stars. Chicken vodka parm with pesto was delicious. As a jersey boy I was excited to see a chopped cheese so had to get that as well. So good. Both meats were tender and juicy. Great bread which is underrated importance in a sandwich. Vodka sauce and special sauce on both were really tasty

I picked up the "Philly Style Roast Pork on a soft hoagie roll for $15.99 plus tax. The sandwich came with roasted pork and broccoli rabe with Provolone cheese, and a side of pork au jus in a small container. They also give you a small bag of freshly popped popcorn with your sandwich, which is kind of cool. The sandwich came with a good amount of the roasted pork. It had good flavor and was nicely seasoned, however, it was on the borderline of being dry; hence, the reason why they probably serve it with a side of au jus. I do recommend they place the pork on the hot griddle, squirt a little water on it, then place the provolone on the meat. and proceed to cover it with a lid to melt the cheese properly and ensure the meat stays juicy, but that is just me. Also, don't hold back on Provolone because the cheese on this particular sandwich was hardly noticeable. It was barely melted and contained a single level across the sandwich. The au jus was good, but overly salty. I had to use it sparingly or else the salt level would overwhelm the sandwich. The broccoli rabe was good but some of the pieces were over cooked and did not provide that good bite. The service was very good. Everyone was very nice. The young lady who taking order had a very positive personality.

Definitely coming back here. Had amazing food the first experience. Me and my buddy shared 3 sandwiches. We started things with chicken Parmesan and it was phenomenal. I love pastrami so much. I got the Siberian train wreck, it was my favorite! My buddy wanted to get something on the lighter side for our 3rd sandwich. We got the chicken waldorf sandwich. It had grapes and Fiji apples ! Each order comes with pickled popcorn. Next time I come I want their slushee cocktails ! Plenty of place to sit !

I've been waiting forever to try Lou's Deli and it didn't disappoint. The chicken parm was so flavorful. I loved the combo of red sauce and pesto sauce - I could've done with even more sauce on the sandwich since it was so good! Great to be able to take the food and eat it at Happy Medium too.

CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD WRAP

Was super excited to finally try this. Specifically for the crispy chicken. Got the wrap and there was little to no chicken in it at all. The dressing was really good but it should've just been called a Cesar salad wrap. Also ordered a chopped cheese. That was really good and the lady was really sweet but probably won't go back now but if anyone else has a spot for chicken Caesar salad wraps, lmk lol

Great spot to curb your sandwich craving or for a quick bite! You order at a curbside window and find a seat out at their patio seating. The girl who took our order was friendly. Our sandwiches came out fairly quickly! I love that each order comes with a complimentary side of pickle popcorn. As someone who loves anything pickle flavored AND popcorn, this was a perfect snack. A friend had found this place on tik tok particularly raving about their Chicken Caesar wrap! To my surprise, they didn't have it on the menu so I opted to get the waldorf chicken wrap. However, when my friend ordered after me their chicken ceasar wrap is actually on their "secret menu" - so it is something you can order. I can't speak on their ceasar wrap, but I thoroughly enjoyed the waldorf chicken wrap! It was both sweet and savory - I'd get it again! For the pickle popcorn alone, I'd give my experience a 5/5. I've never been to a sandwich place that gives a complimentary snack with every order... let alone pickle popcorn??? That's a 5/5 in my books.

Saw this spot on one of the food review shorts I watch on YouTube. Sandwiches were way bigger for his video lol. Decent food but price point is a lil high for the quality. They have some outdoor seating at the business connected. If your going make sure your not pressed for time. Wait time for the two sandwiches was around 40 mins.

Kale Chicken Ceasar Wrap

Order from the window, very sweet and attentive staff! They had loads of options to choose from - i opted for the Kale Chicken Ceasar Wrap. AMAZING CHOICE - full of flavor, crispy chicken and perfect amount of dressing. Also got a side of tater tots and received a box full of tots, crispy, well seasoned. Definitely found a reason to drive an hour to San Diego!

Solid Italian sandwich and love that they offer gluten free bread! Also comes with pickle flavored popcorn and you can order to sit at happy medium.

Great little spot to stumble upon! I was in need of a quick food refuel and Lou's Deli was just the answer. Their sandwich menu had so many tempting options, but I went with the Waldorf wrap--and wow, it absolutely hit the spot. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, and I really appreciated how convenient the setup was with the order counter right off the sidewalk. Super easy to grab something tasty without any hassle. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area--I'll be back to try more of their sandwiches!

Stopped by Lou's on a Sunday for lunch and ordered in Happy Medium as opposed to at the window. The staff were immediately very friendly and offered suggestions on the menu. My friend and I split the chicken parm and the chicken caesar wrap and both were SO good. The parm had a pesto on it that added a nice lemony flavor that was unexpected but very welcome. The caesar wrap was also 10/10 and had the perfect ratio of dressing to filling. My friend ordered the pickle beer as well which was delicious and paired super well with the bar food menu. We left so full, but so satisfied, these were some of the best sandwiches/wraps we've had in SD in a while. I definitely want to come back to Happy Medium during happy hour to try some more of the Lou's menu items. I also noticed they have margarita pitchers which I feel like is hard to find these days! Bonus points for the Christmas decor, I love when a bar gets festive for the holidays!

This is the last time I'm eating here. For like $22 barely any chicken.
Anton E.

This is the last time I'm ordering anything from here. This chicken Caesar is about $22 and barely any chicken. This is not the first time this has happened either.

As soon as you walk in, you are captured by the beautiful parade of cherry blossoms and flowers. It definitely felt like spring when you're in there. Everywhere you look it's a beautiful scene. The bar is beautifully set up where you look through a waterfall. There's open air seating, surrounded by towering buildings. It is multilevel, so it is neat to see the layers of the space. Our server was very welcoming and pleasant. He was on it. He checked on us often. Our drinks tasted great. Perfect balance of a cocktail. I really enjoyed my lychee Martini. We ordered a charcuterie board with meat and cheese, and it was a perfect amount for three of us to enjoy with our drinks. However, I did find the bathroom setup quite unusual; the coed design lacks privacy as the interior is visible from the outside. Additionally, the parking situation was very frustrating. It took me 25 minutes to find a spot, and I eventually had to park quite far away to ensure I wasn't late for my reservation. Moving forward, I would recommend that guests use a rideshare service instead of driving.

I tend to keep it simple and order the same items every time. My go to is the crispy Brussels for $14 and the chicken sandwich for $16, and I usually rotate in the parmesan fries for $10. While they do offer other dishes that are worth trying, these favorites always keep me coming back. The service and ambiance are consistently great. It is located in Hillcrest, so the area is always lively, which adds to the overall experience. The energy, combined with the quality of the food, makes it a reliable choice whether I am dining with friends or hosting out of town guests. Parking can be a bit challenging, but that is typical for Hillcrest. I usually plan ahead and look for street parking nearby.

When I asked the bartender if that was the full menu, since it seemed odd there wasn't even a charcuterie option, his response was, "which restaurant has two menus?" Not the best start. That alone was confusing and felt inconsistent. We ordered a rosado from Spain, which we did enjoy, but overall the experience didn't match what you'd expect from a wine bar. The bottle wasn't chilled, and we noticed others in the restaurant had the same issue. Service was also lacking. The bartender never checked back on us, despite us sitting right at the bar. Overall, not the experience we were expecting. I'd recommend saving your money and going elsewhere.

Being a sober girlie, I've heard about this place for years and was thrilled to finally try it so we had to order a few drinks. There's nothing quite like being able to look at a drink menu and know you can order anything from it because it's all sober friendly. They have a CBD infused drink part of the menu, a kava section and a mocktail drink section along with a food menu. The food looked delicious but we came here for a night cap after eating dinner nearby. We snagged 3 drinks- I need to check my notes on which ones we got but they were all so good. This is the type of place you can come here for a first date, date night worh your partner or co-work with your laptop. I saw all varieties of people who were doing their thang and it felt comfortable. The theme is inspired by Mac Miller and the decor is intentional and classic. Word on the street is that the 2 female owners had some disagreements with their investor so there's somewhat bad blood and that's always a bummer to hear people especially those in the sober community not be able to resolve their differences after they've made such an incredibly safe haven for us to enjoy. I get it though, some business partners are bad choices but y'all have made a beautiful experience here and I'm so grateful for it. I really like the growing NA trend, and even though I drink, it's great to have an alternative, safer-feeling, and more inclusive nightlife option. I came with a couple friends on a Sunday night, about a week ago. We all drink alcohol, but we've all been drinking less lately. The place was almost empty around 8pm, which we found concerning for its prospective longevity. We also thought the prices were pretty steep -- maybe I'm biased as someone who drinks alcohol, but if I'm getting a mocktail or other NA drink, I'd like to pay less than $15+ for it. Still, I ordered the Ave Maria and thought it was one of the best mocktails I've ever had. One of my friends got the Malibu (he liked it but did complain about the price), and I don't remember what my other friend got. We sat for a while and played Connect4 using the fanciest set I'd ever seen. Some more people came in, so it didn't feel nearly as empty by the time I left. I'd probably come back, but only if I was with someone who doesn't drink and/or really wanted to try this bar. I hope they make it!
