I am very displeased with my experience with the restaurant tonight. As a loyal customer for over 9 years I haven't had more of a problem then today. When I came to pick up my order I asked for two ice teas with no ice, as I knew it would all melt by the time I arrived home. My cups were not even close to being filled and for $7 this is simply unacceptable. Then once getting the food home I noticed the insane lack of chicken in the chipotle chicken sandwich. We just came from dinner and the only thing I can think of is: How did I get ripped off two days in a row?? We ordered the korean bbq steak and the rock cod fish special. For starters, we had the spicy hot chicken wings, fried calamari and fried oysters. Overall, each food item tasted good.....but nothing special. I could of had the same quality of food at the food court at the mall. The worst thing is that after we had ordered all this food, I was still hungry after we left. I went back home and begin to raid the fridge for leftovers. Each order of food came in very small portions. My bbq korean steak alone was not any bigger than a hamburger patty...but it cost me 20.00.. Lastly, the service was slooooooow! WTF????? I got robbed again. I am never coming back!!! Think of what Pasta Pomodoro does for, well, pasta, but throw in some Ahi, and you get the idea. LONG, LONG WAITS & NO "HOLD" MUSIC So, what's not working about PC? To begin with, if you call in during busy times to place an order, you can get put on hold, but there's no hold music... Which on the one hand is fine unless if you have a penchant for muzak (tm), but on the other is really annoying because you have no way of knowing if you're actually on hold, or if you've been hung up on. I called in one Friday night to place a take-out order and waited for 20 minutes with no one coming back. MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO ADDRESS CORE ISSUES I'm not sure why, but somehow these guys manage to get in the weeds on weekends and really don't know how to get out. I've consistently had terrible wait times when trying to get take-out from Pacific Catch during peak hours. If your business is consistently having the same issues, well... maybe you need to figure our what you're mismanaging. DISORGANIZED KITCHEN The last time I got take out from here, I'd called in and been told it would be 10-15 minutes. Great! I showed up 15 minutes later and ended up waiting another 20. The big hang-up on my order? The miso soups. My total order required NO COOKING whatsoever... just soup and salad - takes 3 minutes to assemble from pre-prepped stuff. Yet, it took 35 minutes for me to get. What's up with that? DIRTY HANDS ON MY FOOD Here's what threw it over the edge for me... in an effort to get me out the door (which was considerate), one of the non-waitstaff people (I dunno... bartender? cashier? shift manager?) took it upon himself to get my soups together. That would've been great, except that it required him using his bare hands to grab some veggies to toss into the take-out container and then add the miso base to. This would be perfectly fine if he were working in the kitchen (which is open to the restaurant, which is how I saw him doing this), but he's HANDLING CASH TRANSACTIONS. DISGUSTING. Will I eat here again? Probably. I do find the entire staff to be very charming and, when I'm done knocking off the baby weight, I REALLY want to hit those sweet potato fries. In general, however, PC is off the heavy rotation list and I think I'll only bother with it in the middle of the week to avoid the craziness. read more

Plus 1 star for the excellent service and yummy margarita. 2 stars for the wasabi ahi poke bowl. It wasn't as amazing as it looked. The presentation looked really good and the poke was fresh but I felt like the dressing that they put over the sushi rice kind of overpowered the whole dish, gave it a bit of a sour taste to the veggies. My husband and I were drawn to Pacific Catch because they carry Maui Brew Co beer in the store (the only restaurant on the mainland to have it apparently), but I was quickly distracted by the lemongrass mojito (delicious, but a little light on the rum). We found the food to be delicious (green curry ohno and mussels were particularly good) once we go it- 20 mintue wait between my husband's appetizer and mine = -2 points. Another 15 minute wait between my appetizer and the main course= -1 point , and the confused somewhat generic and ill-fitting ambience wasn't helping recover the good restaurant vibe, but the manager Shawn made up for everything- he recognized that we had received shitty service and although the food was excellent (good flavors and ingredient combinations), we weren't happy with the dinning experience there. But, I can't always pick the spot and I don't want to be one of those "High Maintenance Bitches," right? They ain't invited again! So, there I was. We sat outside in the perfect night breeze, lovely teak patio furniture and umbrellas with twinkly lights make for a pretty picture. We all are fiends for sweet potato fries, and Pacific Catch has the hook up, you can get them as a side, as an appetizer and they come with some of the dishes - score! So, that was our starter. Crispy, light and flavorful. Just like the sweet potato I know. Dipping sauces of wasabi and red pepper ad a great punch to these little orange treats. We were all debating over our mains, I went with the salmon salad. Served with cherry tomatoes, chopped asparagus and light dressing, this salad was a good, healthy choice for a night out. Note of oddity: they fry up the salmon skin and use it in place of breadcrumbs. Yuck. Friends got the poke rolls, and fish tacos which both looked equally tasty. You have my loyalty and now that you are serving booze...you have my love (which is very hard to come by). LOVE you guys! I have never been disappointed. I always order the Miso Soup and the California Rolls. Went with my friend tonight- it has been a very long time since I have been there- OMG, I almost...almost forgot how good the food is. There is always enough for me to take home and have again for lunch the next day (and the next day is even better tasting then the first). As if I didn't like the San Francisco Chestnut location already, I now find out there's one in the Corte Madera Town Center. And it's big, has outdoor seating. Seafood food heaven. So this isn't anything fancy, but I'll stand by their fish tacos anyday. Very fresh, decently priced as well. I'm not as much a fan of their sweet potato fries as I am of their standard golden french fries, but to each his own. Pacific Catch also does a great maki rice bowl as well, very healthy and filling. On the flipside, their fried fish and chips is a really good variation. If there was Pacific Catch in my neighborhood, or near my office, I'd be there at least three times a week. read more

I wish I could tell you about the entire menu, but I only can tell you about my favorite, the Fish Tacos. The only talking I do while eating this dish is to repeat many times, this is SO good! You get your choice of 2 different taco fillings - how great is that? I get one crispy Baja fish and the second one is always Cabo Shrimp. It gets better...sweet potato fries! So healthy :) And sides of coleslaw and a dab of black bean. It is the perfect meal. The wine list is thoughtful (i.e. Riesling to pair with spicy fish), the cocktails make you feel like you are in Hawaii, and a great selection of beer on tap. They have Happy Hour too! The atmosphere is causal light and airy, the wait staff are some of the nicest and best trained in Marin (their smiles are genuine), and the prices....they could charge more! Pacific Catch has been on my radar ever since started visiting Corte Madera a few years ago. I was not disappointed and am looking forward to visiting again soon. The soft tacos were amazing. I did the mix and match and ordered the mahi mahi, chicken, and shrimp tacos. The portions in the tacos were very generous and the avocado and creamy sauces absolutely delicious. I went with the side salad w/ miso dressing - which was delicious - but next time I think that I'll be naughty and order the sweet potato fries. Yum, yum. The Korean sticky ribs w/ teriyaki glaze sauce for an appetizer far exceeded my expectations. The key is to take full advantage of the sauce. Without that the ribs are just okay. Sup, tenuous cubes of fish in an okay marinade with roughly 3 cups of overly glutenous under seasoned "sushi rice"? The coconut shrimp almost gave me a toothache it was so sweet and instead of introducing any contrast they pair it with an equally if not sweeter dipping sauce. Customer service is fantastic at this establishment, and I am changing my rating to reflect this. ___________________________________________________ This has been a long time favorite of both my boyfriend and I. I'm saddened to have to write this but it must be done. We've been coming here for years and really enjoy the food and atmosphere. I love bringing out of town guests here and entertaining big groups when we're indecisive on a place to eat. We especially love the happy hour deals on both food and drinks. Because of our love for this restaurant my boyfriend even went the route of getting a p/t job as a bartender in the SF location for a year or so. The company's standards of customer service and quality of food and drinks are not up to par. On multiple occasions the host at this location has been completely lack luster and oblivious. From her customer service to her wardrobe (which appears she's rolling out of bed). The service has been inconsistent and non-attentive each time we've visited. Yet still my love for the food and great happy hour continues to bring me back. I decided to throw my boyfriend a surprise birthday party with about 20 of his closet friends at this location and made arrangements the week of for the dinner. I called to request the patio, seating near the fire pit and to make sure it was clear that this was a surprise. My guests were instructed to be there 30 minutes before hand so that the surprise would go off without a hitch. I was called by the hostess and manager the day before and the day of day to confirm my reservation. I confirmed the number of guests and once again that this was surprise. The guest of honor and I would be showing up at 6:30 while our guests will be there at 6. This was verbalized to at least 4-5 different staff members. Once arriving at the restaurant the host greeted us, in her pajama looking attire. I told her we have a reservation at 6:30 under the name that was given, her response was, "Oh, your with the big party?" WHAT THE HECK? My boyfriend instantly knew that there was a surprise party being thrown. Great job, Pacific Catch, all that planning and confirming for NOTHING. I was so dissapointed. To top it off the hostess had ZERO remorse for that fact that she just ruined his surprise. Aside from the fact that his surprise was ruined, my boyfriend was pleased with the turn out. Our service was great, the trainee was great the food was great but I could not get over the fact that the hostess ruined the surprise. I let it go for the evening and enjoyed the great company and meal and slept on it. The next day I was still bothered so I thought to call. I was in the service industry for 12 years working as a host, then server, then server trainer, and a bartender myself. I know the inner workings of a company like this. I thought surely the manager will want to hear about my experience. I wasn't looking for anything but an apology and an ear. I talked to the manager for about 20 minutes voicing all of the above for him to tell me he'd love to send something my way for the unfortunate event. I'm basing my review on my favorite dish on the menu--Ahi Tuna Rice Bowl (with brown rice). It's really, really tasty and I might even like it enough to give PC 5 stars. However, I just read the review about the ahi being prepared with carbon monoxide so with that in mind: 4 stars. I'm not sure that I understand what CO preparation amounts to, but it doesn't sound good to me. I usually get my Ahi Bowl to go, but the times I've eaten there, the service was good. On my most recent to-go visit, I found the girl at the cash register to have a crap attitude, but that was the first time the service was sub-par. The decor, inside and out, is pleasant. Final comment: the pretzels and edamame they give you while you wait for your meal are a nice routine. I think they should include them with the to-go meals, too--$15 for a rice bowl is steep and a handful of soybeans doesn't seem too much to ask. read more

UPDATE: Jan. 25, 2008 The management has contacted me regarding my recent experience wanting to make amends. I went back Thursday night with a good girlfriend. Given the rainy evening the place was pretty empty. I enjoyed the Coconut Shrimp and Grilled Corn. My pal had the Mahi Mahi. It was OK, but she preferred my Shrimp over her entree. Our waitress was friendly, attentive but not overly so. What was a bit of a turnoff was the slightly fishy smell wafting from the open kitchen. It wasn't overwhelming. I have a super sensitive nose to this given I grew up in a fishing town. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing experience. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I don't get the allure of this place. The highly regarded sweet potato fries were soggy. The corn tortillas were the stale, packaged variety. The shrimp in my tacos were chewy since they were overcooked and the black beans were bland. I'd forgive the food as being average since some of my fellow diners seemed to enjoy their entrees (fish tacos, fish and chips, salads). What I can't forgive is the lame service. We had a reservation for an outside table. The patio was nearly empty. It took them at minimum 10 minutes to seat us because they had to push two tables together. Our waitress forgot our drinks, then forgot to bring us sugar for our drinks. I finally got up and snatched it from another table. No thanks. I'll eat my tacos in the Mission or in the same mall at Baja Fresh for a lot less cash. read more

Face it: it was about time the Corte Madera Town Center had more eating options than just Safeway and the legendary Il Fornaio. Pacific Catch offers a reasonably priced menu of fresh fish daily specials, along with rice bowls and sushi hand rolls. I haven't been disappointed here yet, but then again, I haven't tried much on the menu because I'm hooked on their Wakame (seaweed) salad. Their selection of wines by the glass aint too shabby either. Even my father, who's quite the wine connosieur, has enjoyed some tasty pinot blancs here. And.... (drumroll please)... The carpet didn't match the drapes. From the outside this place looked cool; lots of people inside, nice decor, and some pretty good smells floating out past the patio. They had spicy shrimp soup and blueberry ice cream listed on their specials sign. I was intrigued. Right from the start I didn't like the service. No eye contact from the host, which to me is disrespectful. I liked the interior. It had a nice style that seemed casual which matched my standard t-shirt and shorts look. Apparently that made my waiter assume I wouldn't tip well because he had as much enthusiasm as a brick wall. I guess I should have worn a more expensive watch and flashed some bling. So after finally getting my food I was a bit annoyed. Bad service just pisses me off. Still, the soup smelled good and the taste matched. The blueberry ice cream was, different. Not bad, it was just not my style. Overall the food wasn't worth the price and I ordered rather inexpensive items. Combine a Whole foods market type of atmosphere, Red Lobster-ish type of food, Elephant Bar style decor and spruce it up with a little neo-asian twist and then you get Pacific Catch. Solid 3.5 stars. I've been wanting to check out Pacific Catch for awhile but for some reason I kept thinking Corte Madera was super far away. It only ended up being a 20 min drive from home! The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and laid back - totally suitable for kids and families or date night. The bf started out with some cold sake and I decided to try the guava cooler cocktail. The cocktails are a bit pricey but the one I had was really refreshing and yummy. I really like that they bring out little dishes of already peeled edamame and pretzel goldfish crackers for snacking. I've never been to a restaurant that served pre-peeled edamame - it was a little strange but I ate it just the same. There are so many different options on the menu that it took us awhile to make up our minds. We decided to split a basket of spicy fries and a shrimp tempura roll. The fries were delicious - but we should have gotten a side order instead of a basket. The shrimp tempura roll was pretty good but if I were to come back I probably wouldn't order sushi again. I'd rather get my sushi fix at an actual sushi restaurant. For main entrees, the bf couldn't decide between the ahi sandwich and a rice bowl but he ended up getting a salmon teriyaki bowl. The portion was pretty generous and I liked that there were lots of fresh veggies included. I decided to get the ahi salad with poke tuna instead. The portion was HUGE and I could not finish it. Needed a place to meet for lunch that's between SF and Napa. Chose this place because of easy access and variety on the menu. The waiter service was functional, if perfunctory. We didn't lack for anything but the waiter seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else. We all tried a version of the fried fish plate - one fish 'n' chips, one Thai coconut shrimp, and one mixed fish. The sweet potato and spicy fries were good. The fish was okay, the shrimp about the same. The only bad thing was the oyster. Definitely wouldn't try that again! Like the Terminator once said, "I'll be back" and that was very true after visiting Pacific Catch! It is not easy to find a place that serves good seafood but Pacific Catch delivers hook, line, and sinker! I had just been there recently thanks to a Yelp Elite Event and had such an awesome time that when coming back from the city and wanting to go to a good lunch spot, this was the first thought in my mind. This trip I brought along the hubby and we were able to explore some new dishes that I thought were so fantastic! We started by celebrating some good news with an afternoon cocktail, and I dove into their amazing lobster roll! It was absolutely fresh and light rather than being weighed down in mayo like some other rolls I've had in the past. The service was great, super friendly and helpful in explaining what is what to my hubby and helping him pick a plate! As he is a picky eater it can be tough finding a spot that we both agree on but he really loved Pacific Catch and more specifically their original poke! Reminded him of his trip to Kauai without the immense deficit in your bank account from traveling! We will be visiting this place again very soon for some delicious seafood bites! read more

This was my first time eating at this Pacific Catch and I have to say, it was disappointing. I was really looking forward to trying the trio, I ordered the shrimp ceviche (way too much lime), the ahi (I loved this one) and the salmon avocado (was good, but not amazing). The only other thing I have to say about the food, is that the wonton crisps and pita chips were great. They were perfect with the different fish items. My 2 stars has to do with the service. The host at the door looked a bit disheveled, in a very large oversized sweater, and didn't grest me in a way I expect when I walk into a restaurant. He was in the middle of counting his tips and didn't stop when I walked in. It was very odd. The bus boy brought water over in a timely manner, but then I sat there for quite some time before anyone greeted me. The server barely said 2 words to me when he came over, then I ordered and he walked away. He brought my drink and my food and then I didn't see him again for quite some time. I wanted to pay before I was finished, but he was no where to be found. Other servers were walking by and even the manager. No one checked on me. I was 80% done with my food before the server came back. I asked for my check, waited another few min for it to arrive (I say this because it was NOT busy and took a bit too long for him to bring me my check after asking for it). I still tipped 20%, because I am in the industry, working at 2 restaurants myself, so I know to always tip, but man this was a disappointing experience. Our server, Liz, was spot on in service...before we even knew what we wanted, she thoughtfully swooped in with a split dish of edamame and gold fish. When we asked if the Teriyaki bowl would be enough to share with the bug she replied she'd even bring another bowl out. We were invited to the pokefest here and it did not disappoint! Location: This is a great location, bigger than the Pacific Catch in the Marina. Lots of seating room and there is covered outdoor patio seating that is just perfect on a sunny day. Ample parking because it's located in an outside shopping center. (I guess I'm used to going to places in the city so I get really excited when there is parking and when it's free!!!) Staff: One of the main reasons why I'm such a big supporter of Pacific Catch is because the staff is just so nice. They are big about customer service and making sure their food is top quality. All levels of the staff are extremely friendly and personable. We interacted with one of the chefs, who came out to see how we liked the food; the manager, who invited us to the event and made sure our experience was great; the waiters and waitresses who were friendly and attentive; and even the bartender who made a delicious and very strong Mai Tai. Food/Drinks: So I was reading about how they went on a trip to Hawaii to taste authentic poke so they could expand their poke menu. It really paid off! We were fortunate enough to try 8 new styles of poke and every single one was delicious. A wide variety of different types of poke so that everyone will have a favorite. The Macadamia Nut Poke was awesome! The fish is fresh and the flavor was to die for. They also had a great California style poke with crab and Lomi Lomi poke with salmon. Yum. We've made it a tradition to come here for lunch every Saturday after training (Kung Jung Mu Sul), and it has worked out great. The servers are actually hit or miss in my opinion, but we are also can be a rowdy and demanding bunch. I always pick one of the Pan-Asian Rice Bowls ($16 each), and I order the Japanese Wasabi Bowl (with half brown rice and half lettuce) for my dad. I tried the Korean Barbecue Bowl with Skewered Shrimp this time and it was SOOOO GOOD. I HAVE TO GET IT AGAIN. It comes with strings of seasoned cucumber, shredded egg omelet, shredded nori, SAUCE, and green onion (kim-chi style). This is a must try, and the portions are always so huge here! The Japanese Wasabi Bowl with Poke is also delicious. We sat out in the patio-seating area, which was really nice with the heat lamps on and lots of natural light. Bonus: they serve both flat and sparkling water upon request - yay! Minus Point: the Thai Iced Tea is actually not great because it tastes like it has been pre-made and sitting for hours. You want to be able to mix the condensed milk with the Thai Tea drink mix yourself. Maybe I'll try something else next time. Minus Point #2: I downloaded the Thanx App to get my free complimentary dessert, so I chose the Macadamia Nut Brownie Sunday, and unfortunately I was disappointed. This was my first visit to Pacific Catch. They had a cool 75th Golden Gate Bridge anniversary menu, from which we tried the hand breaded oysters and they were delicious. The sauce they came in was very good. We followed with the calamari and the Escolar, which we shared. The waitress kindly offered to split the dish for us. When the check came we discovered it was an extra $5 charge. I would expect to be notified ahead of time that this would incur a charge. I probably would have still gone for it, but I would just appreciate to know this before I make my decision. The presentation was very nice and I believe they increased the portions of the sides for the split dish. We have ordered some iced tea that unfortunately was delivered after the meal. We finished with the Mochi Fondue that was surprisingly good. Overall exceeded my expectations for a restaurant chain in food, presentation and service. read more

These very well may be the best fries I've ever had in my life - perfect combination of sweetness and saltiness, with a tangy sauce on top. Yum. I wouldn't feel right rating the service because I was eating there to help review it for a magazine article, so they probably fussed over our table more than your average jo. But... the food as pretty tasty for the price. The thing that stood out the most for me was their Traditional Baja Fish Taco, which we had as an appetizer. I've looked high and low in CA for even passably decent fish Tacos, but once you've actually eaten them in Baja the vast majority of places fall woefully short. This place didn't disappoint, they came pretty close to the original and I would honestly stop by just to get my fish taco fix. Also not to be missed is the Hawaiian Poke from their sashimi menu. The cubes were a little on the large side for my taste, but for a mere $8.50 you get a ton of food. For desert go with the Fried Dulce de Leche "Spring Rolls", it sounds a little odd but man is it tasty. The entrees I tried were a little unremarkable, but I think they do pretty well with their smaller dishes. read more

Four of us decided to try Pacific Catch for dinner on Saturday night. We made a reservation and were promptly seated the moment we arrived...which pleased us, since the restaurant was quite busy and I've often been asked to wait at other restaurants despite having a reservation. We started with a round of drinks. The draft beer selection is very nice, featuring craft brews such as Sculpin IPA. Cocktails were well made and delicious. We shared an appetizer of Coconut shrimp and one of the evening's special, Pacific Crab Chowder. The shrimp were well prepared and the serving was generous, perfect for sharing. The chowder was rich and flavorful-it included crab, potatoes, chorizo, corn-the texture was thick and it had a nice zest to it. The dinner menu is extensive and in addition to the daily specials, there is a lot to choose from-something for everyone. Our server, Olivia, was great at providing details on menu items and giving personal recommendations when prompted. We tried Rice Bowls, Fish & Chips, and a Taco platter. Everything was well prepared and delicious. The Cod used in the fish and chips and the fish tacos was delicious-the coating was crispy but light and the fish was flavorful. These were our favorite dishes. Servings were generous. The manager, James, was attentive and made sure everyone was happy. I look forward to returning to Pacific Catch. Central/Northern Marin hasn't had a quality seafood restaurant since the old Pacific Cafe closed. Pacific Catch is a great find-great food, affordable prices, excellent service. read more

If you go for happy hour, before 6pm on a weekday? the value is excellent. and the food is great. Had Korean Sticky Ribs $7, Salmon Poke $7, and Tangerine Wheat Beer $5. All great value and taste great. read more

Three words: Sweet Potato Fries. That's the single best reason to go to this Marin version of the Marina's best small place. The fish is good, but not great, and the prices seem a little higher than in the City. The service is just OK, and the food tends to be a little on the spicy side. Having said that, the basic fish tacos or Japanese bowls are good staples. Pair them with the aforementioned fries, and you are in good shape for a light bite to eat. Kudos on the ample seating in the dining area, and the great outdoor seating with firepit. read more

Great tacos- yummy sauces. I really only come here just for the pineapple martinis and the sweet potato fries. Not the best ambiance, admittedly. No privacy at all- it's definately kid friendly.
