This buffet used to be one of my "go to" places for buffet food. The food was usually always warm and fresh and tasted somewhat decent. Man what a decline in quality and service. I went here last year and was very disappointed. Tonight I went back to see if anything changed, It was also a family get together. I found out things have changed and not for the better. While most of the food was warm few items were somewhat cold. The crab rangoons were cold which was somewhat worrisome. The general tso's chicken was room temperature and not very good. There was a dish cold sesame honey chicken. Very strange flavor. Not good at all. I tried several other random chicken dishes with much the same flavor. Just not all that great. They had crunchy fish filet that lost the crunch and were just a greasy mess. Spareribs were just OK. The shrimp dishes were decent but fairly mediocre. The American section was a disappointment. They had shrimp scampi that while tasty was more of a shrimp alfredo. Mac & Cheese was from a box. Spinach puffs lacked flavor. Again, a real disappointment because they were my favorite. I didn't have anything from the carving section because it all looked very dry and kind of gross. Sushi was OK for buffet sushi. Fish was all fresh and lean. Assembly was clean and neat. Only thing that irked me to hell was the lack of chopsticks. I had to track down one of the many waitstaff that refuse to smile to request chopsticks. Which brings me to service. Not one smile or hint of appreciation. Refills were few and far between. My girl pushed her plate aside to eat her soup and the waiter walks over and grabs the plate that was full of food. Really? The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the slice of chocolate chocolate cake I ate for desert. It was fantastic. Better than any store bought cake I've ever had. While the cake was really good the rest of the desert I tried was terrible. Rice pudding was runny. The banana wafer cake was OK. I tried the fresh melon and it was inedible. No flavor at all. Not juicy. In the end I have to say I won't return unless it's for another function of some sort. read more

Everything we had at Pacific was good. They had a good selection of Chinese and sushi, but they also had a good selection of other types of food as well. They even grilled steaks to order, which my friend said was actually very good. My only complaint was the price. We went on a Thursday night, and it was $14.95 per person...pretty steep for a Chinese buffet. I guess if you eat lots of sushi its worth it, but for those that don't its quite expensive. read more

Absolutely disgusting the food was not fresh at all. The beans had a funky smell to it. From the minute I took my first bite I tasted either stale, or moshe food. And the broccoli was drenched in hot water and i couldn't taste it at all. The shrimp and the fries tasted stale. Me and my friends used to always come to this restaurant has their food and service were always good however tonight we had an awful experience with one asshole waitress who on our exit tried forcing us to give her a tip and was pressuring me my girlfriend and my friends to give her money that we did not want to give her. While the food was ok, there are some big problems. - someone vomitted in the bathroom. They mopped the floor but did not bother with the walls. - the girl carrying the mop for dusting the floor paid no attention to where she was going and ended up dusting a tray of cakes -- that they ended up serving anyway. read more

Typical chinese buffet, you will find your favorites here. What I love that I don't see at most places is the walnut shrimp which is lightly battered tempora style shrimp glazed in a condensed milk/mayo type thick sauce which is sweet (may even have some coconut milk in it). Not sure why they call it walnut shrimp as there aren't any walnuts in it at all....but who cares, it's real good. Also enjoyed the honey spice chicken...not battered excessively like the General Tso or sesame chicken...this is a much lighter batter with a better cut of meat. It chews better and is meatier then the other ones. May be all white meat rather than rib meat that they generally use. Sushi looked fresh as did the salad bar area. Nice selection of fixings and dressings. Desserts were limited but the few they had were actually pretty good for buffet desserts. The carrot cake was great! The crab rangoon was our favorite. It actually had a crab flavor. Most times the rangoons taste like plain cream cheese but these were excellent!!! They are offering a 2 for $20 (as of 3/13) which is really fantastic and no hidden costs like must buy to drinks or anything like that. So for that alone, they get an extra star, because I felt the quality was not lacking for such an inexpensive meal. Sometimes places have great offers but the quality suffers because of it but not here. Will it be the best chinese food you ever eat? No. But for $11.99 and all you can eat, it's definitely worth trying. read more

Food was ok at best, sushi not very good and we found a hair on the fried chicken. The rest of the Chinese food was alright but not great. One of the best buffets I've been to. I am not one that normally enjoys buffets, but my boyfriend told me they had a variety of sushi and good chinese food, so I tried it. I am happy I did. The atmosphere is very nice, and there is a nice selection of different foods. My favorite is the dim sum. The food was hot and tasted fresh and was very happy with everything I tried. There was a large selection from Chinese buffet classics like General Tso's to unusual delicacies like crawfish and the extensive breakfast food selection. The barbecue chicken, chocolate ice cream, sautéed green beans, and fried rice were our favorites. We were also surprised to find a large sushi selection including caterpillar rolls and unagi sushi. The sushi was not as good as dedicated sushi restaurants, but you can eat as much as you want at this small town buffet. read more

Pretty darn good, probably the best buffet in a 20 mile radius, especially since East Buffet shut down (in its heyday ). Outstanding variety: lots of your usual chinese-american (pretty good) and fried foods, but also some very authentic chinese dishes you wouldn't expect from a buffet. Sushi and fabulous grilled meats (korean beef, sirloin, chicken, shrimp). Highlights are delicately steamed flounder, grilled stuff as above, raw oysters at night, peel and eat shrimp, & crayfish. Sushi selection is decent (salmon, tuna, white tuna, snapper/tilapia, squid, california, tofu) but the rice is packed much too tightly/hard, and is preformed probably from night before. Deserts is excellent, lots of fruit, pastries, jello, pudding, and scoop your own ice cream. Fantastic value, nice and clean, excellent service. Can't wait for Hamden (closer) one to open, hope they have some different new touches/foods. No idea what's taking so long! read more

I'm not a big fan of buffets but I've enjoyed going to Pacific Buffet & Grill. I'm a skeptic when it comes to eating seafood at a buffet but I've always enjoyed the home-style dishes such as macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. The food is good and satisfying (nothing to rave about). The service is a little awkward since the waiters and waitresses are only there to take plates and silverware away as well as re-fill your drink. First, a disclosure - I am not a buffet fan. I came here recently to join a group of people. Having said that, for a buffet, this is pretty good. Definitely better than most Asian buffets. The assortment was quite good. Despite the warnings, I did try the sushi, and it was ok; better than I had expected and comparable to supermarket sushi. My wife and daughter tried several desserts, and I took small tastes - all pretty tasteless. If you're a buffet fan, you'll love this. If (like me) you are not, then you'll tolerate it. Great Price at lunchtime.( It was 8 dollars I believe). Also , they have damn good philadelphia rolls. One thing im picky about is that their seafood doesnt have mussels. The other location does. Out of all the buffet places I have ever been this one was the best! They had a very nice selection of food from Chinese to American grill and everything looked and tasted fresh. Service was very good although I noticed some of the staff didn't speak english. My only complaint would be that some of the dishes were to cold, but I guess thats normal for buffets. read more

Having often enjoyed this restaurant, we were surprised with their crass and rude response to a request for special consideration based on recent gastric bypass surgery. I wanted to enjoy sitting with my family, but I can only eat tiny portions - maybe two pieces of sushi total. A request for a child's menu, or even just to pay ala carte, was met with derision. I am not a cheat - I wanted to be reasonable, but the server and hostess were very rude - and claimed that there was no manager available. All this on a Saturday night! A word of advice. This is Wallingford and an all you can eat buffet. Be prepared to share the tongs with people who you will very likely find disturbing in looks and behavior. That being said, your best bet is to go for lunch. No crab legs, but no freaks either as it is mostly business people and not so bad. On the the food. There is a sushi section. If you are brave enough to eat raw fish sitting out for hours good for you. Me. No way. The Mongolian grill area. Not bad actually. Fill your bowl and hand it over. It comes back well prepared in a few minutes. The rest. Typical Chinese fare. Average quality. For $8 lunch this is a good deal. For $13 dollar and freak show, pass.
