For years Pacific was my favorite buffet. I raved about the great food that this place produced. Years later(4+) I was in the area and finally decided to go back! Outside looked the same so I was excited to enter for lunch. Well the food went from great to good. Tried as much as I could without overeating or wasting food.. there were great items like the fried fish, bok choy, grilked chicken&onions and sweet potatoes but there were also bland tasteless items like the broccoli and 1 of the beefs. There were 2 beef dishes, a pot roast and a Roasted beef. 1 was seasoned and the other was dry and blah but can't remember which was which. Mac and cheese was intriguing, it was the creamiest that I've ever had but also the most tasteless; literally tasted of nothing, not even cheese. Good to see the sushi and sashimi was still on point. Didn't try the habachi/grill. But fresh cooked food is always good. While i don't know if this last one was an off visit or if the quality really declined, I still say this is one of the better buffets that are still around. Customer service was good and it was still clean, so when I'm in the area I would return.

Walking in we were immediately greeted and given a choice of booth or table which I was actually happy about, My Fiance is on the heavy side and we prefer tables. Now to get to the food my other half hates when I take pictures of his food so I will explain his food first that I tasted which he pushed aside and what he loved... The Crab Rangoon was over powered by chives I believe but the dough was perfect, the ribs was shameful. It tasted like it was deep fried with the chicken and tasted horribly it was chicken ribs if that makes sense. The Corn he ate all of it went back for more was fresh, Carrots was fresh, broccoli was good but it should of been cut up so it wouldn't be so chunky. Now my food the sweet and Sour chicken was sad it was over cooked, the pancakes were just yuck, the bacon was just rubbery they could of cooked it to crispy or in the middle would of been fine. The desserts were pretty delicious though. The place was packed though, the ambiance of the place was nice that's all I can say. I will try this place one more time, there was a few not too good and a few I haven't had a chance to try I got full, so another time to give another chance. Oh and you never have to ask for a refill once they see your cup is empty they bring you another.

Food was great but desserts are even better

We live in NY but have traveled to Connecticut a few times this past summer. Double thumbs up for value and assortment. Everything was delicious. Far better than those near us! Also applaud the hard working staff. Very attentive. Same waitress loves the kids.

We went for lunch on a Sunday and even though it was very busy we were accommodated quickly. This is a pretty large restaurant, so it can accommodate large groups. Pacific buffet and Grill is a quintessential solid Chinese buffet. There are a lot of great options to be able to choose from. The crab Rangoon's are always a crowd favorite. There's an American section to accommodate the picky eaters among your group. The waitstaff was pretty attentive for it being busy, but we didn't get our plates cleared at all while we were there, which is something that usually happens. Again, it was really busy. I can't give you a basis of comparison for how busy it is on a regular day since this was my first time . I really enjoyed the fresh sushi section. Literally got to watch it being made as it was being put on the plate. The options were constantly being turned over so the food was very fresh. This is definitely a place that I would go back to if I was looking for that buffet style meal.

1st time to visit this place. Good foods and service. Price a little bit higher than Boston Post Road. But I'm ok with foods quality. I did not try sushi because I'm full . Hope next time will try it

I've missed buffets ever since COVID but now it's considered to be safe to eat at them. This is the first buffet I have been to in a while other than Far East in Wethersfield. I'll be honest, this is my second time coming here and it looks like they did some studying while they were closed down for COVID. I was slightly impressed. They had plenty of options and the food was as I expected but some options blew me away. They had a shrimp alfredo and it honestly was some of the best Pasta I've had coming from a buffet that doesn't even focus on that type of food. The chicken curry was actually spicy and their sushi impressed the heck out of me. Buffet sushi always dissappoints me but this time, it was actually really good. The service was great as well. My waitress was over the top friendly I loved it. Other than that, absolutely solid buffet here. All the things I thought would taste okay, tasted great. Isn't that what we want from a buffet? My only complaint was the ice cream scoop situation, it just looked disgusting with the cross contamination. Like I said, solid buffet. I will be back. After I go to the gym.

    A plate of deliciousness!

There baaaack! And in a good way! My family and I went to dinner here tonight and were pleasantly surprised! The Buffet line was set up nicely, food was constantly being refreshed, everything in my plate was hot and the waitstaff was friendly! There are pump bottles of sanitizer right in the middle of the dining room on your way back to your table. That is a plus! We did take out during Covid and it was not very good. I'm so glad that they have bounced back and my entire family enjoyed everything!

Large dining areas. This is just the entry

I was a bit skeptical at first, but one of them owns a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco so I had to believe his word when he said the food here was good. I decided to grab my first take-out from this place tonight and called in that order ahead. The food was ready when I got there in 10 mins! The gentleman was friendly and accommodating when I requested for chili oil as well. The restaurant has tables and chairs so one can actually dine in. However, it's mainly for takeout so a lot of people just come to pick up their food or have it be delivered. There is a large parking lot so not to worry. Aside from good portion I was given, I was impressed by the well-balanced proportions of fried rice and garlic chicken/veggies. Some places like to skimp out on the meat and veggies by giving you more rice, but this was not the case here. The veggies were not overcooked and the chicken was soft and tasted fresh. As for the massive egg roll, it was crispy and had good filling of pork and veggies. FYI my friend said that you can switch out the egg roll for a spring roll. The requested chili oil on the side was a great condiment to the dish since I love spicy food. Lastly, the fortune cookie tasted fresh... I was shocked by the poor reviews below, but I realize that the ownership has changed so I recommend giving China King another try and it will prove its worthiness of the crown (haha). I will definitely come back here again especially during their lunch hours with great prices!

The girl got up from the table, took my order, and said it would ready in 10 minutes. As I was a waiting for my order I notice there was no one in the kitchen cooking. After about four minutes the women at the table playing with her phone decided to get up, and start my order. It was a humble reminder that you don't need to go to a culinary destination to find good food. Cheshire Connecticut may not be known for its food scene, however, I found Sakana was a genuine diamond in the rough. My expectations were admittedly low going in. My level of skepticism is always high when I see the "Asian Bistro" moniker, as it is frequently used for restaurants to try to appeal to the masses at the expense of quality by having a "jack-of-all-trades" menu that lacks the technical intricacies and mastery required for specific dishes. Additionally, these establishments tend to follow a "cookie-cutter" menu and offer the same boring dishes you can find at every other Asian Bistro. Even when initially walking towards the restaurant, I had my doubts. The exterior of Sakana honestly looked more like a clinic than a restaurant. Once I saw the menu however, my skepticism shifted towards optimism. For a local bistro, they feature a surprisingly extensive wine and cocktail menu, including premium sake options. I was particularly impressed to find toro on the menu; although it's undoubtedly becoming more of a trend in Connecticut, I was nevertheless happy to see it offered at Sakana as well. Overall I liked their sushi selections and everything I ordered was well-prepared and tasted fresh. We ordered a chicken and broccoli for our daughter and found the chicken tender and broccoli perfectly cooked. That may not sound impressive to those reading, but you'll be surprised how many restaurants fail to execute this baseline dish correctly. The service, although pleasant, was probably the only "weak link" of our experiences here. The quality of service was noticeably inconsistent between our two visits, and they would benefit vastly from having a more reliable and experienced front-of-house team to match the execution coming from the kitchen and sushi bar. Despite this minor gripe, Sakana was a standout. As long as I'm in the area, they will definitely be among the top of my list of places to eat!

So friendly. Is the food exceptional? To me no, but my parents enjoy it. Tonight we started with crab rangoons. Pretty good. Sauce on the side not very exciting. A chili sauce would be better. I got a sushi roll with White tuna inside and cooked shrimp on top and wasabi mayo. I forget the name of the roll but it was better than the two times I've ordered takeout. Miso soup was also good. Their soup bowls are in the shape of a heart which is super cute. Dad got some sort of a mixed protein dish with brown sauce (had shrimp, chicken and beef). Mom got the chicken and garlic sauce. They both got fried rice on the side. I tried it and it was very bland. Dad also got a salad with his meal and the ginger dressing was not very good. Red coloring to it. Usually ginger dressing is more on the orange side. Dad also got the Malaysian chicken coconut soup to start and it could use a bit more flavor. Was a bit watery. Mom loved her sweet and sour soup. Nice that this place is 5 minutes away. Cheshire needs more restaurants. Def not my fav restaurant in town though. Food to me is just ok.
