Not sure why Hong Kong has a 2.5?! Hong Kong has THE best General Tso Combination plate. Seriously, just look at my picture it's amazing. In the past I've also ordered sushi and shrimp fried rice and ALL were delicious. If anyone asks me for Chinese food recommendations I always tell them to go here. The service is quick, portions are great and prices are reasonable. For example, a General Tso combination plate comes to about $12 with tax. I do wish Hong Kong would do sit-down service again because they have a nice dining area. In the meantime you can call in your order or order online through their website. read more

I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't have more favorable reviews as we've been on a quest to find a new favorite Chinese restaurant and this one checked several of my boxes. I compare each restaurant based on a few staple items we normally choose - beef & broccoli, crab rangoon, egg rolls and spare ribs. The egg rolls were excellent and the spare ribs were meaty. The sauce on the ribs had decent flavor. I didn't love the beef in the beef & broccoli. Something about the texture, but it was still tender and the veggies were plentiful and cooked well. The brown sauce was also tasty. My daughter liked it very much. She is also the crab rangoon aficionado. These are different here. They are in a phyllo dough rather than a wonton shell, however they had nice flavor. While this was a takeout order , I am interested in dining in, as it has become very difficult to find a Chinese sit down lately. We will return. read more

I ordered bbq rib lunch combo,ribs had a thick uneatable tomato paste smothering the ribs, was suppose to come with egg roll NO EGGROLL. Ordered sushi from here and they deliver!! Sushi was fresh and made to order. I am very confused regarding the reviews of this restaurant. I come here at least once a month and have never had a bad meal. If you are eating in, the staff is very welcoming and the restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance and is super clean. Service is excellent. As for the food? Well, we wouldn't keep driving 15 miles to eat their food. Sometimes we eat there but more often we order take out and pick it up. We think the food is far better than the many oriental restaurants in the North Haven area. They cook with better spices than most other eateries and, perhaps, the colors bother people. Trust me, it's healthier and cleaner. As for delivery? I never go thru Grubhub nor others. As sometimes it isn't the fault of the restaurant but the delivery service you select. So disappointing. Most of the negative reviews I've been seeing have to do with delivery or service, so I figured I would be alright since it's barely 5 minutes away from me. Nope...I ordered a few simple sushi rolls, general tso's, and some chicken fingers. The sushi was fine. Not high quality at all, but they charged more for their plain rolls compared to other dedicated Japanese restaurants. The spicy tuna had decent flavor, but my Alaska roll wasn't too great. The cucumbers had a weird taste. The chicken fingers were very greasy with not a lot of meat on them. The breading did not have a good flavor and just tasted like the oil it was cooked in. I literally spat out the general tso's after a few bites. The chicken seemed old - stale and not at all crispy. There was barely any meat and the sauce was so weird tasting. Not quite sweet, or spicy, and kind of sour as well as super sticky. There was also way too much sauce (probably to cover up the subpar chicken)This is really upsetting since this is how I judge take-out places and whether I would come back. I will NOT. It's surprising because the inside is REALLY nice. It's updated and modern looking, but it's really about the food. The delivery only took about twenty minutes to arrive. When we opened the bag, everything was neatly packed. All of the food was cooked well, arrived hot, and had good sauce. Figured I'd give a shout out to Hong Kong being its their grand reopening after months closed by a building fire. It seemed like the entire town was morning the absence of Hong Kong for the past 4 months. Well Much awaited night was tonight, and the whole town was ordering from them! The remodel came out great, for sure a great spot now to go out for sushi or Chinese. We always order online from them, with a speedy delivery of their excellent sushi..and just as good Chinese cuisine. Whenever dinner is a question, Hong Kong is usually the answer. Their spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls were on point on opening night, and the pork dumplings huge and delicious. Welcome back Hong Kong! read more

I have ordered from Hong Kong in the past and even gone in to eat, too. However, during a pouring rain last week, we decided to call and get delivery. 40 minutes for a 2 person meal. 40 minutes came and went and finally after an hour, we called to check on our order. The woman picked up the phone and when I started to talk just put it down without saying a word. She finally picked it up again and said the delivery guy was "new" and just leaving the restaurant. We live in the center of town (literally 3 miles from the restaurant). 70 then 80 minutes came and went. We called again and they did not know where the driver was. They then put the phone down (no warning again just could hear the workers talking the background). She picked it back up and asked us to wait outside on the street! In the down-pouring rain! At this point, we were fed up and asked to cancel but she said, "Oh no he is there!". My boyfriend waited another 10 minutes in the rain until he got there... To no surprise the food was ICE cold. No one once apologized or offered any sort of discount for our troubles. I understand new people may have some driving directions but this problem is completely avoidable. Don't tell us 40 minutes, don't send him out without proper training, etc. Extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service and will not be ordering from them again. The lacking customer service even affects the food as the cold temperature was not something we could enjoy. read more

I've eaten at Hong Kong a few times, and figured a review was finally in order. This is a small restaurant with both dine in and take out options. The dining room is small but comfortable. Floors, tables, and chairs are all clean and in good condition. They offer a typical Chinese menu, but also offer an extensive list of Susi option. Both menus have yet to disappoint. The food is made with quality ingredients and is always consistent. I Highly recommend you give it a shot. read more

Sorry Hong Kong you've lived up to the other bad reviews. Ordered delivery which took 45 minutes because the two delivery drivers apparently had a big fight. This coming from the mouth of the guy delivering the food. Ordered General Tso's, Crab Rangoons, Shrimp and Broccoli and veggie fried rice. The other person had no problems with the shrimp and rice. My General Tso's was cooked just OK. No crispiness to it. Just a bit soft. The flavor was decent but I kept getting a weird chemical flavor in my mouth. No idea what it would be from but it just raise a big red flag. The crab rangoons were ok but just lacked flavor. Price a was a bit steep for the quality of food. Not a good experience at all. I have yet to try the sushi but honestly I don't think I can trust Hong Kong with my sushi when their normal dishes taste like chemicals. read more

Usually am a regular here, but it seems that the food is going downhill. I ordered a sesame chicken combo platter which was fine, but the shrimp rolls that I ordered along with my platter were absolutely disgusting. I don't know what happened because they used to be so good; these tasted like they were over cooked as they were entirely too mushy. General Tso's chicken is much sweeter and with smaller pieces of chicken. Sushi was OK. Portions seemed smaller. Disappointed Ok I ordered form Hong Kong Again and it was great. Delivery took a long time, about 1 1/2 hour, but food was delicious. I think they are under new management and are having some growing pains, but the food was great. read more

I come here because it is close to my Wallingford stomping grounds. First time i tried cashew chicken and it was awful. Second time i tried the cold noodles with peanut sauce. It is literally noodles thrown in a container with lettuce and peanut sauce on the top. Other places I have gone to mix the sauce and lettuce in.... Guess they are too lazy, but the price doesn't reflect that. Then I tried the sweet and sour chicken which is an all time chinese favorite. Grease city. Finally I tried the General Tso's and actually found something on the menu worth getting. All of these orders will run you about $10 which is standard, but never in my life until this day have I spent $9 on a quart of Fried rice. Wtf man, $9 on fried rice, something that if white and with nothing else comes free with your meal. The service is incredibly fast and the staff is very friendly, but what is going on elsewhere? I rarely have to wait for my food to be ready which is a plus, but if I do not enjoy anything I eat there and still pay top dollar for it compared to other chinese places that are extremely decent, why bother? We have coming to this restaurant since my daughter was a newborn. She is now going on 10. We still absolutely love coming to this place! It's our favorite Sushi and Chinese food all in one. So... I ordered 4 things from here for delivery (mind you I live less than a mile from this store) because we're sick. Almost an hour later the food still isn't here so I called the restaurant. I give them my address and the kid tells me the printer was down and the order only got there 12 minutes ago. I ask how long before it leaves. The lady in the background says 30 minutes. Now i'm completely ripping mad. I ask if they've charged my card yet (I ordered online), I tell him yes and he comes back on and says they're saying 20-30 minutes now. I tell him if they charge my card already I want the money back. At this point another lady gets on and says the "boy is coming". I ask how long. Now its 15-20 minutes. I continue to ask for my money back and now all the sudden its 10 minutes. I'm NEVER ordering from here again.They basically flat out refused to refund my money only saying the "boy is coming now". When I ask when my money will be back she says 3 days but the "boy is coming". That was 10 minutes ago. I'M NOT HAPPY. Don't go here... bad customer service. we have been going here for quite a while and never had a problem until the last few months. Food has been disgusting and when we called to make a comment about it the owner who we wished to speak to was very rude and was insulted that I gave some constructive criticism. Ever since those last few orders the food and service has been getting progressivly worse. Tonight was the last straw when we were told out food would b delivered in a timely fashion because I had to attend my nieces gymnastics compitetion and I would have picked it myself if I knew of would take literally 1 HR and 45 min.
