Beware! Nationwide Lift of El Dorado Hills, CA came in at about the same price as their competitor…read morebut won our business with their initial customer service and promises of keeping us informed every step of the way. But they failed miserably!! We had both of our elderly disabled mothers living with us and this elevator was especially for my mother-in-law whose room was upstairs because my mother occupied the downstairs room because she is a double leg amputee and could maneuver better in that space. But my mother-in-law's mobility was declining, so we had to support her down the stairs to get to her regular dialysis appointments, thus the need for an elevator. We started the process with Nationwide in early October 2021 and were given assurances that the work would be done in a week, sometime between the mid-January to early February 2022 timeframe. Once we signed our contract and paid our deposit, we never heard from them again, unless we initiated contact. During this time my mother-in-law had to have surgery related to her dialysis and became wheelchair bound as a result in late 2021. So now it's January 2022 and we are desperate to get this work done because there was no way we could manage getting her up and down the stairs. She now had to be put in a nursing home to wait for the work to be done and also so we could ensure that she was able to get to dialysis regularly. We begged Nationwide to give us a date and to give us a template that they promised so that a we could get at least get the preliminary work done ourselves to speed up the process but little was done on their part to support their commitments. Nationwide failed us and they failed my mother-in-law! She died on February 28, 2022 waiting for the elevator and after catching Covid in the nursing home that she didn't have to be in if Nationwide had done their part!!! As angry as I am with Nationwide, there is a bit of a silver lining! They agreed to refund our non-refundable deposit which we were grateful for. However, they kept $3000 of it because, and I quote, "We have to make some money on this transaction, so it's a 'restocking fee'." Hmmm, I was under the impression that a restocking fee is charged if the merchandise is received and returned by the customer. This shady company redefines the concept of customer service, trust, and integrity. BUYERS BEWARE!!!

Hankin Specialty Elevators - PVE installation

Their install team was highly professional and coordinated well with our contractors. After one and a half years in service everything continues to work perfectly.

I worked with Hankin Specialty Elevators in my new home. While was in the process of building our…read morehome I contracted with Hankin to install elevator, do to my husbands problems with walking on steps. We signed contract for the lager elevator, they send their representative to give all the specks so my framer would build opening according to their measurements. I gave down payment and their representative was here 7 times to make sure all was done to his specs. Well after we moved into to the our home my husband1s condition got worse quickly, so we decided to get elevator installed. Mind you all was completed in my house, including doors and floors, so they came in and to my surprise the elevators did not fit, so they order new one much smaller and we had to tore up walls & move it, change placement of doors that means re-framed them and re installed them. I was totally devastated, because or the costs and elevator was 14" smaller, not design to carry anything beyond couple people, so I asked them to discount the price, to compensate for the size and costs of retrofit, they said No, so I gave my self discount by 23% and did not pay last bill. About year and 2 months the elevator stopped working, I asked for service the refuse, so I called competitor, and they had part that needed to replace, than year and half later it stopped working again, the Hankin`s refused again to repair so I called competitor it was battery and he said our battery was drained do to power block out, and our elevator did not switched back from battery to regular power because it wasn`t installed properly, that happened couple more times, my bills were getting very high, service call plus new battery each time. So I attempted to call Hankin again to fix it because, we have not used our elevator for last two years, because it was too expensive to keep repairing every time we lost power than I got a re-call from manufactory, but we can`t open door because battery is dead again. They are refusing to service their product, they installed elevator that I didn`t contracted for. I feel like I order 2000 sf home and the builder gave me 1500 sf home and want same price and now is unusable. Don`t buy from them anything they are not professional and not honest people, they don`t deserve any business. I wish I could get rid off their elevator and get my money back.

Lakehills Mechanical - New Air Conditioning

After years of coaxing life out of our 20-year-old HVAC system, it finally gave out. We had three…read morecompanies come out for quotes, and the first two simply proposed replacing what we already had--two 3-ton units--with only tentative suggestions about improving airflow. Then Ben from Lakehills Mechanical arrived, and everything about his approach felt different. Confident, thoughtful, and clearly experienced, he designed a completely new solution: a single 5-ton dual fuel variable speed heat pump tailored to our home. He walked us through how he'd rework our attic layout, expand the return air and ducting, add dampers, install and program new thermostats, and essentially give our home the airflow it should've had all along. He also stands behind his work with a 10-year labor warranty--paired with the 10-year parts warranty--something we didn't see elsewhere. His installation team, Matt and Randy, were fantastic. They were meticulous, respectful, and clearly take pride in their craft. Floors were covered daily, wiring was impressively clean, the attic now has a new light, and every detail was handled with care and precision. And the results? Honestly, transformative. For the first time in our 10 years living here, the house actually gets cold. We walk inside and say, "Oh--this is what cold air is supposed to feel like." The airflow is balanced, powerful, and amazingly quiet--no more roaring jet-engine unit in the background. The new condenser's smaller footprint is just a bonus. Now that we've had time to experience the heat, we're equally impressed. It's soft, quiet, and comfortable--none of the heavy, oppressive feeling our old system produced. The air just feels better. It's a level of comfort we didn't realize we were missing. From start to finish, Ben, Matt & Randy delivered exceptional expertise, craftsmanship, and care. We recommend Lakehills Mechanical without hesitation.

I tried to get my system fixed from the middle of January to the middle of March and finally gave up. Here is my experience. Week1: Called for service. No response. Week 2: Called again, spoke to a person who scheduled service for following week. Week 3: Tech came, said it was the motor, under lifetime warranty. Said he'd contact manufacturer, get back to me. Week 4 & 5: No response. Called again, spoke to woman who said she'd been wondering about this service call and would look into and get back to me. Week 6: No response. Week 7: Called again, woman said she's send someone out. I said someone already came out, said it was motor. She said he was new and more experienced tech might be able to fix. Week 8: While waiting for tech she called and asked if I knew I had to pay for service call. I said why, if 1st tech was incompetent. She said 2nd tech agreed with 1st tech, saw videos he took. I asked why he was coming out. She said she'd get back to me. She did and cancelled appointment. Week 9: She called back and said they got a new motor but had to charge me $1200 plus $400 service call. I said it had lifetime warranty. She said it didn't. I have paperwork that said it was. They refused to honor it. I gave up and had chair removed. They charged me $600 to take it out. They will fix it up and sell it for thousands. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS FIRM.
