This place is quite good -- we have been for dinner a number of times. The Thai dishes are the best and most affordable. We have also tried the diver scallop risotto, mango spring rolls, Kang Ped, Pad Thai, and Tuna Stacks. They also usually have interesting specials -- there was a strawberry cream-based soup special some months ago that was quite tasty. The ambience is nice. It's a small restaurant -- I recommend calling ahead and making a reservation on weekends. The portions are on the smaller side FYI. Solid service and good wine list. The proprietors do a good job on making you feel welcome. However, their food is inconsistent. This week's lobster won ton's were over cooked and one of the dinners was lukewarm. We've also gone home and felt that we had food poisoning over the scallops. We go here because we have clients and its a more upscale venue than in the rest of Binghamton. There's nothing here that can't be fixed but with a bit more attention to detail it would make this place great. read more

Definitely an odd location for one of the Binghamton area's nicest restaurants, but P.S. is definitely among the best around. Nice atmosphere, good and attentive wait staff. The entire I got (Caitlyn & Penne - penne tossed with shrimp and covered in a lobster sauce) was superb and I got a couple meals out of it. I'm usually not one for doggie bags but this was one I was willing to make an exception for. The scallop risotto I got left a little bit to be desired, but was a minor misstep in what I considered to be a very good meal. I look forward to my next visit. read more

P S is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I always pick PS for special occasions and birthdays. I have heard that everything is home-made, and it sure tastes like it is.They always ask before taking our order if there are any allergies, which takes the uneasiness out of eating for me since I actually have a food allergy. As other diners have mentioned, the wine list is superb, and the owner/ hostess is always willing to give pairing suggestions. I have always had a wonderful meal, but on one occasion my father was unhappy with his steak. The only reason for a rating of 4 stars over 5 is the atmosphere. For a high priced restaurant, I would like to see updated interiors rather than a 'stuck in the 90's' feel. read more

Ate here a few days ago and it was the best meal I have eaten in a long time! The staff was friendly and professional. The food was outstanding. First came the luxurious soups. The smoked potato soup was not your run if the mill creamy soup it had so much flavor and was rich and velvety. I had a fillet mignon and it was perfectly cooked. It literally melted in my mouth. My husband ate the lamb and the plate was both beautiful and delicious. My mom ordered the salmon and it didn't disappoint. Then came the desserts...pure bliss!! The perfect ending to a fabulous meal. Well worth it and nothing compares to this level if cuisine in this area. Great presentation and tasty dishes. Price is a bit high by Binghamton standard, but seems reasonable if compared with bigger cities. The only real downside about this place is its location: it's inside a mall with supermarket as its neighbor. That kills the ambience. I always wanted to bring out of town guests here, but changed my mind several times because I don't want my friends to think mall restaurants are what Binghamton to offer. P.S. Restaurant has a reputation as one of the best restaurants in the Binghamton area for fine dining. On that recommendation, we got ourselves dressed up and headed out for an adventure in fine dining, Binghamton style. The first thing one should do when going to P.S. is to put away your pre-conceived notions of restaurant design and aesthetics. PS is located inside a 70's style mini-mall overshadowed by the presence of Giant Supermarket. The restaurant does the best it can with the interior space, but despite the elegant table settings, wall hangings, and plants, I couldn't shake the sense that I was dining in a supermarket mall. The food, however, was quite good. It doesn't compare to the food of my favorite french restaurant (Le Petite Robert in Boston), but was an enjoyable meal all the same. We began with the Wild Mushroom Augratin, which was very flavorful but I found the mushrooms at various levels of "done-ness" (and yes, done-ness is a technical term). My wife had the Tom Ka Gai soup, which was startling in its use of citris broth. Very tasty. I had the salad with PS's live oil, balsamic and fresh herb vinaigrette (an excellent dressing). For the main course, I had the Pan Seared Quail with Pineapple BBQ Sauce - excellent, but I underestimated the work required to extract meat from three quails. The efforts were well worth it - delicious. My wife had the special of Pan Seared Salmon, which got solid marks. Her mashed potatoes side was "amazing". For desert we had their Chocolate French Silk cake, which was amazing. Our stomachs bursting, we could barely finish it, but we ultimately prevailed over the chocolate cake. So I would recommend PS restaurant. It's food is great. As an experience, its decor was lacking, so it didn't feel 100% like fine dining, but that's me being picky. We recently celebrated our anniversary at another highly recommended restaurant because the PS was closed. What a disappointment in service and food at Tranquil. The attitude of the manager was a definite turnoff. That experience made us appreciate all the more, the accomodating attitude of the PS manager, chef and staff. I ask for special preparation of a dish and it's always excellent. If somethings not right, the manager bends over backwards to rectify the situation. We were given a free bottle of wine after several of our selections were not available the day after a particularly busy weekend. PS is one of the few places where they can give you a filet cooked to order without butterflying it. Last week, we went to the PS with some folks who had never been there. They loved their flounder, lamb and Thai dishes. The PS now has 4 new fans. My husband and I agree that the PS is one of the best restaurants we've been to and we're so glad this restaurant maintains it's high quality. read more

If I could give this a zero I would. I was able to go into the kitchen for a brief moment where I saw the most disgusting things from the dishes to the employees. I also witnessed boxes of rice R Roni being made. They had someone literally going through the moldy food and separating it out where it was to be served. This is all in the 5 or 10 minutes we were there so imagine all the other situations that take place. Not to mention the owner is very rude and talks down to everyone. She does however have somewhat good customer service but that's just all part of the act. She and another employee were talking about pills to deal with everyone and then ended up taking a handful of oxycodone along with the drinks they had. I've heard this from numerous people about them and saw it first hand so I wasn't shocked. Bottom line, I would absolutely NOT eat at the restaurant, nor would I support this type of establishment or behavior. There are other places that are far better around. I went here to celebrate my mom's birthday. We didn't have a reservation, but they rearranged things to accommodate us. The service was very quick and great! For appetizers we had the Greek stuffed mushrooms and grilled shrimp, both of which were perfectly seasoned and delicious. For dinner we ordered the Thai food i had green curry and she had the red curry with shrimp again perfectly seasoned and delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake which was very rich and chocolaty. I would definitely come here again! read more

The server was able to answer all our questions about the The portions were good in size, food was served warm and fresh. Even the dessert substitute was better than the original item listed for my tastes (Chocolate torte with caramel and coffee ice cream, it was replaced with coconut instead). My husband and I were excited to finally get a chance to go to P.S., so we got dressed up and headed over to celebrate our anniversary. From the second we got inside, I was sold. The atmosphere was so classy and sophisticated, and yet not stuffy-feeling at all. The service was impeccable--the staff was so attentive to us from the second we walked in to the second we left. We both ordered from the seasonal 4-course menu, where you could choose from several different options for each course for a flat price. It was an amazing deal, and we were both beyond satisfied with every single one of our choices. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were outstanding. All of the dishes that we ordered were creative and delicious. For the caliber of restaurant that P.S. is, the staff was incredibly warm and friendly--not the least bit pretentious (an attitude we have noticed at some of the other upscale places in the area). In fact, the owner herself came over to our table to check on us several times throughout the night, talked to us about where in the area they buy certain ingredients for their menu, and had a great conversation with us before we left as well. We had such a great time there and are looking forward to our next opportunity to go again. I can not recommend it highly enough--if you are looking for an amazing culinary experience, whether it be a romantic dinner for two or just a gourmet dinner with friends, P.S. is THE place to go.
