The food was authentic, unique, and combined in palette awakening plates. Our meal featured: House made Palermo wine: full flavored, semi-dry made without additives Homemade Hummus & Vinaigrette Beets: Garnished with fresh, vibrant pesto. Korean Beef Stew: Deeply savory, featuring tender, authentically seasoned beef over mashed potatoes (or ancient bread cubes), garnished with homemade kimchi. Dessert: Pistachio, almond or vanilla panna cotta (sells out fast). The sheer amount of care, prep, and scratch-cooking that goes into this menu makes it a standout restaurant in Northeast PA. For the dinner, we had scallops for appetitizer, seared salmon, fish tacos and chicken parmesan. For dessert, we had bread pudding and cheesecake. All delicious and cooked to perfection. There's a friendly dog off leash who seems to be the house pet, but he definitely comes looking for food so be on the lookout. Service is friendly and helpful. We started out with some beer and ordered a pint of the two goats, red ale and a flight with the Seneca Lodge, peach blonde, war horse, and two of the red ales because they were out of the last one. Actually really enjoyed all of them. I normally go for darker beers, but the peach blonde was refreshing and would be perfect for summer. To start we ordered the spinach artichoke dip, which was OK but needed something crispy then pita. A toasted crostini was definitely called for. For entrées, we ordered two bistro burgers, which were both cooked nicely and complimented our beer nicely. Probably could've used a little more tomato jam, but we enjoyed our meal and the reasonable prices.

The timing wasn't ideal, and at first, the staff member at the counter seemed hesitant to offer a tasting, expressing concern that we might not have enough time to fully enjoy the experience. Understandably, with just 20 minutes left, they didn't want to rush through what should be a relaxed, immersive tasting. However, after we reassured her that we'd be happy to share a tasting and keep things brief, her demeanor quickly shifted. She transitioned from cautious to warm, professional, and incredibly accommodating, making us feel truly welcomed despite the late hour. In moments like this, it's always great to see how much the right attitude and hospitality can enhance a wine tasting experience. The Tasting Experience We sampled five different wines, each offering something unique. Even though we were moving quickly through the tasting, we still took time to appreciate the flavors and characteristics of each pour. Ithaca Red - A Standout Favorite One wine that immediately stood out was the Ithaca Red, a dry red with bright fruit-forward notes of raspberry and strawberry jam, balanced by a medium body and a lingering spicy finish. It struck that perfect balance between vibrant acidity and smooth tannins, making it an incredibly enjoyable, easy-drinking red. It was so good that we didn't hesitate to grab two bottles to take home, ensuring we could enjoy it again later. Lemberger - A Dark, Spiced Delight Another highlight was the Lemberger, a varietal that often flies under the radar but consistently impresses me. This one had deep, rich dark fruit flavors that reminded me of ripe blackberries and plums, complemented by a lightly spiced finish. It was well-structured yet approachable, a perfect choice for those who love medium-bodied reds with a little complexity. Though those two stood out the most, every wine we sampled was well-crafted, balanced, and a true reflection of the region. A Fun Bills vs. Steelers Moment In addition to the great wine, we had an unexpected and fun football-related conversation with one of the winery's owners, who happens to be a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan. As soon as he spotted my Steelers jacket, the conversation naturally steered toward football--a classic AFC rivalry moment. We ended up chatting about the infamous Bills vs. Chiefs game (yes, that controversial first down call!), and we found some rare common ground--both agreeing that Buffalo did, in fact, get that first down. It was a fun, lighthearted exchange that added another layer of personality to the visit. Moments like this remind me why I love visiting small, locally-owned wineries--you're not just drinking wine, you're connecting with the people behind it. A Winery Worth Revisiting Despite the short timeframe, Six Mile Cellars left a lasting impression. From the quality of the wines to the friendly, engaging atmosphere, it was a great way to wrap up a full day of exploring wineries and breweries. I'd love to return with more time to spare, perhaps on a sunny afternoon when I can relax on the property, enjoy a glass of wine, and soak in the surroundings without worrying about the clock. This visit may have been brief, but it certainly won't be my last. If you're in the area and appreciate well-crafted wines, welcoming hospitality, and a little football banter, Six Mile Cellars is absolutely worth a stop. A perfect way to end an already fantastic day.

My wife and I had the pork loin special (don't recall exact name). Probably the tastiest pork I've ever had! Really!! The sides were just as yummy. We both agreed it was a seriously good meal. Other couple had Ciopinno and seafood czarina. They both loved them and shared a taste with the table. Have to agree, they were fabulous. Our waitress was timely, attentive, and friendly! No issues at all. Due to impending snow storm, they reduced prices on entrees and drinks. A nice bonus. The Good: Beer selection was pretty good. My request was tapped out, but it turned out, the replacement was even better. A delicious nut brown ale. Wines were also very good albeit a tad pricey. The price special mentioned above helped. Overall bill was on the high side partly due to the drinks and slightly higher prices for the non-special meals - even with the price breaks. Needs work. We were two couples. Sat near the maître d' podium. The inside door of the foyer kept sticking open. Had to get up to close several times as it was about 5 degrees outside. Not a huge issue but should not have been an issue at all. Slightly more annoying was the noise level. The restaurant was full and very noisy. It was a bit challenging to have a conversation at our location. It eventually quieted down and all was well. Definitely something that needs improvement though. I gave it 5 stars due to the excellent meal and service. Considered dropping one star for the noise and price, but the meal was so good, I just couldn't do it. Looking forward to going back.

Either way, the experience just wasn't what we expected. We were seated immediately and given menus. I was in love with all the seafood options, but my husband and I were craving steak. I ordered a crème brûlée martini that was fabulous. We also decided on the Cajun calamari appetizer. The calamari was plated with a plastic cup containing the dipping sauce. I hate to say this, but if you want to keep up a semblance of fine dining , black plastic cups shouldn't be a thing. We were on the fence about the calamari. Some pieces were soggy, but the flavor used in the breading was great. We finished and saw the decorative lettuce swimming in grease. Our Caesar salads were wonderful. When we got our steaks we were underwhelmed. The infamous black plastic cup was back and although I asked for extra butter and sour cream, that didn't happen. Both steaks were cooked to the temperature ordered but bland. I suppose we should have paid extra for the flavor add-ons. Sadly we had no salt/pepper so we took it from the empty table next to us. We ran out of water during the entree so we scrapped any idea of asking about dessert. We got the $127 check that included one drink, one appetizer, two small salads, and two entrees. Overall a 3-star experience, and for the price, that's polite. Could we have sent items back...yes. I truly felt that subpar calamari and bland steaks were not getting any better with a second try and they would still come out with a lackluster plastic cup in the wake. The service was decent. The waitresses were pleasant. Although we visit Owego regularly, I doubt our time will be well served coming back. We wanted to love this place but it didn't happen for us.

Since we've been out all day we were really hungry so we decided to eat something before we performed. At the moment there couldn't have been more than eight people in the whole place inside and out on the deck total. We were handed menus that had no prices on them. I ordered the buddah bowl with chicken strips and my husband got a quesadilla with steak. It took about 40 minutes for the food to come and the boot bowl was mostly a big bowl of greens with what couldn't have been more than a tablespoon of chicken chopped up on it. It was very tasty. My husband's quesadilla was the size you would expect loaded with cheese but literally one little tiny cube of steak in each of the six wedges. His quesadilla was tasty We only ordered water to drink because we were going to be singing later and it took about 15 minutes for the water to get to us. She "forgot". The whole time we were there nobody checked on us and place never got very busy no more than maybe eight people the whole time. We decided not to stay to sing because there was practically nobody there and the people who were there were outside on the deck while the place for the performers was inside in the bar. And as far as we knew we were the only people there who were planning to perform. The Buddha bowl which would've made a nice side salad to any other meal was $14, while the quesadilla was $13. In my opinion overpriced for what we got. We also bussed our own table.

I was not a fan of the salmon mousse... far too salty and I wish it was paired with crisped bread or at least something other than Ritz crackers. Staff was pleasant and quick. The menu is dominated by drink options (cocktails and wines), and happy hour is 4-5pm, which is perfect for an aperitif. The fried chicken is by far their speciality, with the macaroni coming in as a distant second. But while both were delicious, I'd say the best value and taste goes surprisingly to the simple summer salad, which was crisp, sweet, tangy, and refreshing. It's only $10 for a hefty portion of food and I'd order that again anytime (and that's coming from a guy who'd never normally order a salad). My only criticisms are that the Rook doesn't have many entree choices (which may be a good thing for indecisive diners), and that it's very slightly pricey. Otherwise, it's an easy recommend for me.
