I ordered takeout from P.F. Chang's and tried the Mongolian Beef dinner special and the Chang's Spicy Chicken dinner special, both of which came with hot and sour soup. The food quality was great overall. The Mongolian beef was flavorful and tender, but the Chang's spicy chicken was definitely my favorite with a perfect balance of heat and crispiness. You can also ask for extra sauce on either entree if you like your food with extra gravy like I do! The hot and sour soup was excellent and the portion was surprisingly large, especially for a to go order. It felt like a full restaurant serving rather than a small takeout container. Overall, a really solid takeout experience with generous portions, quality food, and very friendly staff. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice too in case you prefer dining in! If you like sauces or silverware with your food, make sure to mention that because my food didn't come up with any soy sauce, fortune cookies, etc. read more

We have been to P.F. Chang's locations in Chicago, Kansas City, and Anaheim. This is our closest restaurant to home, and dine here a handful of times each year. A few weeks ago, we had a lovely lunch that included wonton soup, Mongolian beef, banana wonton dessert, and a now discontinued (sadly) squash dumplings with miso sauce. Not sure what has happened over the past few weeks. When we drove into the parking lot, we realized that the landscaping was completely overtaken with weeds. When we entered the foyer, the floor was sticky. We ordered two lunch specials, and one entree. One of us enjoyed his meal, but the rest of the food was very mediocre. The spring roll that was provided with lunch was tasteless and soggy -- seemed like it was the store version heated up in a microwave. It had no crunch or flakiness either, like spring rolls should have. The pepper shrimp dish that one of us had was also pretty tasteless, not peppery as expected. White rice provided with it was also overcooked. One of us ordered teriyaki chicken. The menu description indicated "Tender chicken paired with fresh pineapple and onions, glazed in a sweet and tangy teriyaki sauce, and finished with toasted sesame seeds" not mentioning that the chicken was deep fried--one of the only chicken dishes in the menu that didn't specify "crispy" or "battered" or "fried." When the dish arrived, and the chicken was fried, we questioned this, and the dish was replaced pleasantly and promptly, which was appreciated. (Note to corporate--please make your menu more clear. Staff told us--maybe once too many times during our visit--that the chicken is fried unless requested not, but this is not clear on the menu.) Each restroom had issues - women's wasn't the cleanest, and the men's had an air conditioner vent that dripped water on its users. To look around, the restaurant is looking beat up in the daytime. Some of the booth edges are stained, and wood scratched up. Between this and the weeds outside, this location really needs a refresh, along with improvement in the food. The standout here is the staff -- every staff member we encountered was pleasant and helpful. But improvements are needed to the environment and food before we'll consider returning back. read more

It's tradition to come here for lunch after going to the orchid show at the Chicago Botanic Garden and it happened to be Valentine's Day, so win/win. I love the interiors here and it's extra pretty with the touches for Lunar New Year. We did a couple of appetizers, fried rice and cocktails and everything was delicious, although I really prefer the way they prepared and presented the pork dumplings the original way - the sauce is way too spicy now and since we ordered the sauce on the side, the dumplings all stuck to the serving dish. The food at PG Chang's is always consistently delicious! Sadly, the restaurant seems huge compared to the smaller crowds from years past. Although Chang's is a part of a chain, the food never disappoints. We did notice a few nice touches have been discontinued, such as the 3 sauces previously served with dumplings and potstickers which allowed you to customize your dipping sauce and loose leaf tea (now tea bags). I was impressed with the service she gave us on such a busy occasion. The place was a little loud and the music seemed to be club-type songs. Other than that, the place seemed to have a trendy Asian decor. The menu seemed to have been expanded since the last time I dined here. I liked that there were many vegetarian options which were also vegan. The problem I have with the food is that many dishes we order did not say anything about being spicy on the menu, but were in fact spicy. P.F. Chang's never disappoints and this time was no exception. Our table of four enjoyed the options for group dining. They also had a great lunch deal going on. We chose 4 entrees, soup, and an appetizer. Yum! Everything was piping hot and delicious. The teriyaki chicken dish was new and a standout. Until this day, I had never had tofu fried rice, now it's my new favorite! I could have stopped after the delicious egg drop soup. Everything was so good and service was attentive. The manager even stopped by our table, which is a very nice touch It happened to be Valentine's Day but we were just looking for a place to grab a late lunch. Hurried home and took my first bite...THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST FLAVORLESS HOUSE FRIED RICE IVE EVER HAD. It literally has no taste. Not even the meat. We had an enjoyable family lunch today. We were seated comfortably in a large booth, the restaurant was pleasantly empty, and we had a clear view out to the lovely spring weather. We split a pork dumpling appetizer (yum), then shared Singapore noodles, Chang's spicy chicken (a little spicy), honey shrimp on a bed of rice noodles and crispy chili garlic green beans. I thought the green beans were a little too salty. Otherwise, this was a nice assortment of flavors, delivered hot from the kitchen, and generous portions for our party of five. They refilled my soda without my having to ask, checked on us several times throughout our lunch, cleared empty dishes promptly and brought us the check/checked us out in a timely manner. Well it's been a long time since I went to PF Chang's the last one I went to was the one in woodfield Mall Schaumburg. It was the only one I went to one of my mom's friends suggested to go to p.f Chang's and I suggested the one in Northbrook. This one is a little more bougie in the ambience. Service was pretty fast and they were pretty friendly. Food was just a meh ok. Better than Panda Express. I say this because I look at PF Chang's as a franchise Chinese restaurant than it is of the local Chinese restaurants in the Chicago and suburban areas. We have the Mongolian beef and it was just ok the Kung Pao strip however was a bit too salty that I did not like. The Buddha's vegetables was also okay or delicious. In regards to dessert since there were three of us the waitress suggested and have the sampler of three desserts which was a good idea. I like the key lime pie and the peanut butter chocolate cake I didn't really like the red velvet cake but then again I never like red velvet cake at all. Since so many reviews stated food was very salty I ordered their Tofu Buddha Feast with low salt and it was very good. Loved all the veggies but would have liked more tofu. One of the problems I find with their menu is that few dishes have vegetables or just broccoli. So the Buddha Feast made up for it. I also had the Crab Wonton app and was very disappointed in it. It was beautifully presented but tasted floury or cornstarch? Couldn't place the odd taste. Creamy Crab was tasty but the wonton was off. The sauce with it was very good. Our waiter was very attentive but the kitchen was very slow. Which was not our pleasant waiters fault. It was not that busy at 5:30 on a Thurs evening so they must have been short staffed. Made a 6:15 reservation for December 24, 2025 for 4 of us. When we arrived there was a crowd of at least 30 people waiting to be seated. I checked in and was told that the wait was between 15 minutes and one hour!!!! And that people already seated were not getting up. We immediately left. Our server was absolutely fabulous. But, the chicken lettuce wraps suck! What I love most about the old rats was the sauce. I usually ALWAYS TIP, but for a $130 tab I refuse to be treated this way even we didn't ask for much... 1. She sent us the bill 2 mins after the bday celebration dessert and bottle flare. never asked if we need anything else beforehand. 2. We order 2 orders of pepper steak we only got one rice which we didn't ask for that. It was suppose to be 2 pepper steaks like we ordered so two white rice suppose to come out. 3. She so short with us, never asked if we needed anything she was dismissed and running away. like she wanted us out of there. Especially when I asked about my birthday reward since I had to asked her and she wasn't too familiar. Amongst the Saturday night crowd, we were seated promptly and enjoyed friendly, attentive service. Our server apologetically explained that the kitchen was backed up, but our entrées arrived 30 minutes after ordering, which seemed reasonable enough. Whether their chow is pan-Asian or Americanized Asian, such fusion causes confusion. Authentic? Not really. The tempura-battered crispy green beans app (my freebie) was tasty but weighted down with enough oil to lubricate a steam locomotive. Egg drop soup was rich and piping hot. Our entrées - crispy honey shrimp, sweet & sour chicken, and orange chicken - were really very good, but the portions were smaller and cost double what you'd pay at a neighborhood mom-and-pop Asian eatery. A pot of tea here is $4.00 ... heh, heh, did you expect free tea? By far the best value here is the coconut-pineapple ice cream. Everything on the regular dessert menu is super-sized, super-rich, and around $10, but a generous scoop of this yummy ice cream (which appears only on the kids' menu) is just $2. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. We waited 20 minutes just to get water. We waited another 20 minutes to get drinks because 2 of the 3 bartenders called in sick. There was no staff to bus the tables so the hostess was frantically running around doing it. After a 45 minute wait we were told our sushi order was not ready yet and it might be another 30 minutes. They brought the wrong dish to my great niece and we were told if we wanted what she ordered it would be another 30 minutes. They forgot the Mongolian beef we ordered. Our waiter did his best but he had nothing to work with. I will never go back there again. The food we got was not good quality. I don't know what happened. Horrible service! I gave clear and understandable instructions for a food delivery. And tipped 15% on a $100 order. And the driver still didn't care. Dropped the order at the wrong place. Do not order delivery from P.F. Chang's in Northbrook, IL. They missed an ordered item as well. I called and it was later delivered by an employee of the restaurant. They contracted with DoorDash (I think) and it was the DoorDash driver that screwed up the initial delivery and enjoyed the hefty tip. The rice was dry and tasted days old the meat was dry and inedible and the portion was so small. We threw away most of the meal.
