This review about North Point Chopsticks is long overdue. As a strip mall restaurant, NPC has many tables for dine-in. When I arrived to pick up the order on a Monday evening around 6:30 pm, the restaurant was totally empty, but the staff were all busy preparing for takeout orders. Our takeout order included Pork and Chicken Dumplings (10 pieces), Tofu Egg Plant Hot Pot, Chow Mein with Chicken, Chow Fun with Beef (Cantonese style), and a Taro Freeze. The rice noodles (Chow Fun) were too wide, and the cut of beef was too big. Cantonese style beef should be bite-size. Taro Freeze was good and refreshing, but a little water-downed. The food was pretty decent, satisfactory, but nothing outstanding. I would say, 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

Came most recently for their lunch specials, I don't think I have ever been for their lunch specials. There was a nice full list of items to choose from. I got two different items from the list, two types of noodle dishes. It was plenty for one individual. It was not busy during lunch hour and ordering in restaurant it didn't take that long either for carryout.

This is like a Joy Yees--really extensive menu, but it has some really great HK style dishes. We ordered to go but have also eaten inside. Our order came out piping hot and was ready pretty quickly. What we got: Salted egg yolk pumpkin - This dish is battered and fried, then sautéed again in salted egg yolk. It's savory, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. So good! Our kids ate this up. Salted fish ground pork stone bowl - This is a pretty Cantonese thing I think that's hard to find anywhere. It's over rice, and I think you could stand to mix in more rice if it's too salty for your preference. But it's a flavor unlike anything else, and the only way I can describe it is pungent haha but in a really delicious way. If you like bold flavors, try it. This is pure nostalgia for me because it's something my grandmother used to make. Beef chow fun (gon tzow ngow haw) - Great flavor! This is a thick, chewy rice noodle and it had a great bite to it! Not soggy and didn't just fall apart. It had a bouncy chew and you can tell the wok was hot enough because it had that char flavor. Beef cubes tomato rice - Not quite as tender as Joy Yee's, but still good and hit the spot! The beef is marinated really well and I don't know why the rice tastes so good, but this is a staple order for us.

Nice looking place. Came in late in the day and was looking forward to trying their offerings. Large menu, we ordered a few different dishes; one tofu with veggies, one pad thai. Both were good. Think I liked the Chinese dish more but not disappointed. Next time will try something different kung pao chicken. Service was excellent, food came quickly and was hot temperature wise. Will be back.

I have been going to north point chopsticks for a long time, usually for take out but occasionally for dine in. I recently went and I am impressed with how consistently good the food is. We were seated quickly by the staff and our orders were taken promptly. The hot and sour soup was tangy and flavorful. The portion is large enough to share with a group. The crabs rangoons were delicious, crispy and creamy. The fried pork eggrolls were a little bit of a let down, they were a bit too oily for my taste. The main dishes were all spot on. The beef cubes with tomato rice is amazing...I ordered one at the restaurant and one to go. The beef cubes are so tender and rice is the perfect compliment. I think I could eat this everyday. We also had the spicy seafood tofu hotpot which was very good and had generous amounts of seafood. It is not overly spicy, just a small hint. The spicy Thai basil chow fun was also very good, another one of my go to dishes here. I only wish this place was closer to where I live!

This restaurant is a little bit hidden in a strip mall by a Jewel. Parking is pretty easy. We did a carry out order and food was ready at the time chosen. We ordered Thai style beef, orange chicken, drumsticks, and pepper beef. All the food was ok no major standouts. Would be willing to try again but would probably order different dishes. Still a fair option for Chinese in the 'burbs.

I love this place. I'm not sure why some of the people complaining get the most basic dishes ever. Chicken or shrimp fried rice? Kung pao beef? Boring! Their menu is enormous with a variety of dishes. Be a little adventurous and try something new. They have Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, and Korean. They also have boba tea and smoothies. Service was good, they were pleasant and we got our food fast. They also have sufficient seating for dining in. They have mammoth portion sizes so you'll have leftovers to take home. The prices are very reasonable since you'll have leftovers to take to work. It's located by a Jewel so plenty of parking available. -pumpkin fried with salty egg 4 - first time trying this. I would recommend eating this with rice, that way the rice can help soak up some of that salt. -fish sauce chicken wings 5/5 - chicken was big and juicy. Fish sauce was a little subtle. I would have liked to have it more prominent. -sea eel and shrimp fried rice 5/5 - eel is cut into small pieces but good size shrimp. Fried rice had the right balance of flavor. -beef cubes with tomato rice 5/5 - large pieces of beef, fresh tomatoes, and rice was well seasoned.

About a 2-2.5: North Point Chopsticks is a sister restaurant to Joy Yee's, offering Chinese and pan-Asian fare. I recently tried out their Shrimp Fried Rice, which I was surprised at the large-sized juicy shrimp that it came with - the fried rice itself was not that great; it was more like steamed rice, rather than wok-fried. It was also super bland and hardly had any soy sauce, so you'd have to add that and some chili oil to pep it up a bit. Dine-in is available in their space, but their carry-outs are popular. Located at the Shops of Heatherfield, there is plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot. +large shrimp used in fried rice +located at the Shops of Heatherfield +plenty of parking in shared plaza lot

Came here after a visit to another Chinese place that was terrible and thankfully it was much better. In Glenview this may be the best place for Chinese food. North Point Chopsticks is in the shopping center with Jewel. Kind of hard to see but it's in there on the north side of it. The menu is pretty big and has lots of teas as well as food at good prices. Big menu and it was hard to make a choice. It's about $14 for an entree. The prices are kind of high but these are big portions. Also the food is full of flavor. Has some that's pretty authentic and has some more suited for American tastes. Good variety to choose from. I got the Kung Pao Tofu, and it was pretty impressive. There was also a lot of fresh vegetables all stir fried and it made a filling lunch. Have to choose this as the best Chinese place in Glenview. It has both authentic and Americanized items. There's good choices for meat eaters and vegetarians.

I have been looking for a place that offered dim sum and…read moredumplings for a while now (ever since I experienced them at Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone in Seattle) and I can honestly say that Seriously Sanji is a great place. My wife told me there was a dumpling place in Northbrook and took me there for a late lunch the other day. I know that she's not a fan of dumplings, but "took one for the team" and brought me there. We just ordered basic beverages, her a water and I a Coke Zero. She then ordered Pad Thai and I ordered chicken soup dumplings and chicken sanji. The pad thai came out first and it was a huge portion. She barely put a dent into it and it became two additional meals later. She said it was different than other places she's had it and that it was good, but different. I noticed the chicken pieces were huge chunks and the sauce had a little kick to it and wasn't thick, but it was tasty. I first got the chicken soup dumplings. Man, they were good. They're larger than the ones I've had at Din Tai Fung and The Dough Zone, but they sure are delicious. And since I prefer not to drive into the city and spend over an hour on the road to get downtown, to go find some other dumpling/dim sum place; I'm happy there's a great place in the suburbs near me. They rival the other two mentioned previously. Their sauces are great, the dumplings are great. The sanji was delicious. Heck, that's in their darn name. All of it was good. And this is my go to place in the suburbs now. The place is a cute. As you enter the vestibule, there's a dumpling with a body welcoming you in. The place is just all black and red and you wait to be seated. There is a container with chopsticks on each table, but the napkin is wrapped around a fork (most places you have to ask for a fork, so this is a nice change). I could use a knife for the sanji as they are quite big, but it's not a problem eating them without. Our server was very nice and helpful. There's really no place in the north to northwest suburbs that serves this type of food and you'd be foolish to skip it. I'll see you there soon. I'll be the one making the yummy sounds.

Even if we don't consider its rarity, Da Local Boy is a winner in every category. The prices are very fair for the enormous portion sizes, the decor is fun and appropriate, the service is friendly, and food is phenomenal both in flavors and textures. The only possible criticisms are that the space is a bit small for how popular this spot gets, and the parking in the area can be a bit limited around popular meal times. The food here shines, making it worth a special trip -- both again for the rarity but also the quality. For me, the poke nachos are a must order item, just the perfect mix of large chunks of tuna with super crispy wontons, fresh avocado, and a good helping of sauce. Amongst friends, we've agreed that this is a must order item. The huli huli chicken is also unreal in flavor and texture. Besides being marinated and sauced well, the chicken is melt in your mouth tender while simultaneously having a delicious crisp skin. Think brick chicken, but with more flavor and a much better price. The rice and macaroni salad that accompany this are also well done -- and feel more like a core part of the meal rather than an afterthought. The grilled pork is pretty good as well, though I kind of wish it wasn't sliced as thin, as certain pieces felt a bit dry. The spam musubi with a light touch of furikake also provided a flavorful, fun dish to accompany the other delicious items I tried. Overall, delicious and consistently surprises me with the quality of the execution and bold flavor combinations. This is on my top places to visit in the area and has never disappointed.

My favorite of the night was the rose tteokbokki. The tteokbokki was perfectly chewy and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. The popcorn chicken was also good and paired well with the sauce it came with. The bossam was on the dry side and the seafood pancake was pretty standard. The fries were good but wouldn't pay $10 for a basket of fries if we came back next time. The corn cheese was also good but the plate was small. There was a call button at each table which was convenient. Food came out individually as it was ready instead of all at once which was to be expected for our party size.

My family has been coming to this restaurant for years, which makes this experience not just disappointing, but very upsetting. We placed a pickup order totaling over $100. When I arrived, I was told our order had been given to another customer. Instead of immediately apologizing and remaking the food, the front desk employee spent several minutes trying to find the order, then called the customer who took it and asked him to come back with the food so it could be given to me. This is an obvious food safety issue. Once food leaves a restaurant, it should never be redistributed. When I calmly said I was not comfortable taking food that had already gone to someone else's home, the employee argued with me extensively, insisting it hadn't been touched. I had to repeatedly ask for the food to be remade. When the other customer returned, the employee made a pointed comment that the food would be thrown away "because we have to remake it," while looking directly at me. This felt accusatory, uncomfortable, and inappropriate, especially since the mistake was not mine. After waiting over 40 additional minutes, I was still charged the full amount. When I politely asked whether there would be any consideration for the delay, I was told, "No, we already lost money on you." Being spoken to that way after showing patience and understanding was shocking and deeply unprofessional. Unfortunately, the situation did not end there. When we later called, the same employee refused to provide a manager or owner's contact information, and refused to let us speak with a manager. We asked the employee for her name and she replied "What's YOUR name and what's your problem?" That comment alone reflects a serious lack of professionalism. We emailed management twice to address what happened and have received no response. Mistakes happen, but what is unacceptable is arguing with customers about food safety, making them feel blamed for expecting safe food, speaking to them disrespectfully, and then ignoring follow-up. Management should take this feedback seriously, because this experience reflects poorly on their business. We are very sad to no longer be customers of PNS after many years of enjoying their food.
