Going downhill fast and it's a shame. PF Chang has been a consistently good dinner option in downtown Boston for years. Yesterday I dined there with my partner. A month ago we had a pretty mediocre experience due to the server forgetting to order one of our meals. It was an uncomfortable situation that we wanted to forget. When we returned, to our chagrin, we had the same server waiting on us. This time, she ordered the wrong dish and we waited an additional 15-minutes for one of the dishes. It wasn't easy finding the server to let her know that she brought us the wrong dish. In fact, when we wanted our check to leave, she was, once again, missing in action. While waiting for my food, I looked at the two tables next to ours. They were dirty, with dirty dishes on top, linen napkins on the floor and two drinking straws right at my feet. When we left the restaurant 45-50 minutes after arriving, those tables were still dirty. It was a bit disgusting. This all occurred as the "Manager" was glued to the TV watching the Celtics playoff game. Instead of the "chill" music and atmosphere that we had become accustomed to at PF Changs in Natick and in Boston, there was tinny speaker, barely audible, behind the bar. read more

P.F. Chang's is a stones throw from Boston's Chinatown, so ordinarily, I would never choose to dine at P.F. Chang's with so many more interesting restaurants in the area. However, we had a gift card and decided to eat here before attending a nearby theatre production. I hadn't been to a P.F. Chang's in many years, and this location and atmosphere was much nicer than I remember other mall locations. It had a more "grown up" bar scene, though there were plenty of kids and families in the dining area. If you have no preconceived notions of what authentic Asian food *should* or *could* be, the food is fine. The veggie spring rolls (3) were an easy appetizer to share among our party of 3. Our favorite entree was the sesame beef, which had small, tender pieces of beef stir-fried w/ broccoli, pepper and onion. It was more complex than the somewhat boring crispy honey chicken, which contained nothing but fried chicken pieces. The Pad Thai tasted nothing like Pad Thai - no hints of tamarind paste, fish sauce, palm sugar, lime, etc. That said, it was an enjoyable mild rice noodle dish...just not reminiscent of Pad Thai. read more

Got some chicken lettuce wraps (GF version to try) and beef and broccoli over Lo Mein. The food was good, but I like the regular chicken lettuce wrap over the GF version. I guess the sauce the use in the GF version was not as good for me as the regular sauce. The beef and broccoli dish was a bit salty but not bad. Overall a good meal. Have to say, very disappointed in this location. As someone with celiac, I have visited several PF Chang's and never had a bad experience. Today was different. While they still have a lot of the traditional dishes available as GF, my wife and I were shocked when we were told there were zero vegetable side dishes that can be made GF! I have ordered the spicy green beans and Brussels sprouts in the past at other locations and always was able to get them made GF. We were even told, after asking the waitress to confirm with the chef, that not even the cold cucumber salad was available GF? How do you add gluten to a cucumber salad? It makes me question if they know what they are doing with the dishes they did offer as GF. Don't know if they just were not aware of how not just were not in the mood to accommodate someone with Celiac but overall very disappointed with this locations service. read more

This nice modest lunch outside should have been a nice quiet experience but the manager and their corporate policy to make it sound like a damn night club is just ridiculous. Monday night in Boston. The restaurant was fairly empty so we were seated in a nice booth immediately. The server was very nice but a couple times when we needed something (mostly water) she was MIA. The veggie lomain was was good and a very large portion. The Singapore noodles were good but too much ginger was used. The hot and sour soup was a huge portion and very good, but the server failed to ask what spice level was preferred and as a result we requested spicy sauce which was not too spicy but it was delicious. We have been here almost 3 hours and still waiting for our entries. New Year's Eve and you would think this place had zero clue they might be busy right off of Boston Commons. Lashawnda was our server and she was friendly and tried hard to provide good service despite being way overstretched. Management needs to staff the place better during peak times. We walked in and were greeted wonderfully by the hostesses. They sat us immediately (wasn't too busy and this was around 4pm) and then the waiting began. I guess there was some sort of mixup when they sat us and maybe it's because we swapped tables, but it took 15 minutes for Anthony to come to our table and get our meal started. We ordered everything all at once, then we were brought our waters and the warm Saki in a good amount of time. Our food came out and it was delicious, but the next time we saw our server was to ask for the check. He was nice just seemed to be on his own time. I ordered Mongolian Beef which was a very very small serving and came with no sauce and way overcooked and came with no fried rice as ordered. The Honey Chicken was very good and did come with the fried rice. The egg drop soup is absolutely horrible. The chicken lettuce wraps are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Now it's a little clearer why the restaurant was so empty. The workers don't seem to like being there. It's like their faces would break if they smiled. PF Chang was more of a fizzle than a bang.
