A little piece of New Orleans in Austin. The vibes and service were 10/10. Great cocktails my favorite was the French 75. We got the lamb and duck confit Mac n cheese. The lamb was so tender and perfectly cooked. The Mac n cheese was so delicious and not too rich somehow. I would definitely come back.

Oh my god, never been to Peche before but this is my new go to spot I cannot believe how professional and hospitable the service was. The bartenders Christopher and Robert were PHENOMENAL in their recommendations and the drinks are to die for!!!!!!!!! SO good, we got Fig manhattan and the old fashioned and they even gave us an extra maraschino cherry because they overheard how excited I was to get a cherry I felt sooooo taken care of and attended to, I will be coming back weekly for the happy hour they said is 4-7 everyday me and my mahjong girls are def coming back weekly! If you skip Peche you are dumb! Ask for Christopher or Robert but everyone here is awesome! Also the ambiance slayed ofc

Met friends here for a holiday happy hour on a Tuesday! Love their HH. 1/2 off certain apps and $6 certain cocktails until 7pm. And free street parking after 6pm. We had a great time. Our server was very helpful in guiding us to options and drinks. The only minus was that one of our friends is vegetarian so the appetizer options on happy hour were limited for her. We had mac n cheese, several cocktails, escargot, foie gras, fried mushrooms, beet salad, fries and desserts! They seated us at a booth/table which was a little tight for 5 of us, but we made it work! I look forward to future HH's at Peche!

4.5 Stars for the Happy Hour. If it wasn't HH prices, it is definitely on the expensive side. French Fare in a dark, moody, stylish environment. That being said - The Happy Hour is awesome here. 1/2 off select appetizers and entrees and $6 drinks until 7 pm. The burger (half off $21) - amazing. A large juicy burger and oozy Gruyere on a brioche bun, with a heaping pile of crispy fries. Beet Salad (Half off $15) - fresh spiralized beets with feta and a tart dressing. Loved this. Pate Tartine (half off $17) - rich pate smeared on brioche toast with fresh arugula and pickled vegetable. Also Loved this. French Onion Soup (half off $8) - the only disappointment - surprisingly, I found it sort of bland. Perhaps it's better than being overly salty? Ashley was our server and she is the sweetest!

Drunken Monk (so delicious)

Every time I come here, I'm reminded why it remains one of Austin's gems and the newly updated menu just took things up another level. Their happy hour is genuinely one of the best in the city. The mac and cheese is the kind of comfort I could happily eat every day, and the escargot is rich, garlicky, and exactly what I want it to be. And then there's the Drunken Monk is now one of my all-time favorite cocktails. Perfectly balanced, memorable, and impossible not to reorder. Huge shout-out to Patrick, who absolutely made our day with warm, thoughtful service. Peche stays in my rotation for a reason. Already looking forward to the next visit.

Texas Wild Boar Ragu ($34).

Excellent French food in downtown Austin. I stopped by for dinner last night and sat at the bar. They were out of my first choice (braised short rib) so I ordered the Texas Wild Boar Ragu instead. This was a lucky choice, because it was one of the best meals I'd had all week! The boar was perfectly cooked (not gamey) and was accompanied by the most exquisitely made horseradish gnocchi, al dente with just a hint of wasabi. The server was kind enough to bring me crostini to soak up some of the delicious gravy in my bowl, which I ate to the last morsel! For dessert, I had their vanilla crème brûlée, which was well made. Happy to return on my next trip.

GRILLED PISTACHIO AND HERB CRUSTED NEW ZEALAND LAMB LOIN ROASTED FENNEL AND GRAPES, FIG DEMI :)

I had a lovely dinner here with a friend yesterday before seeing Boney James at the Paramount. We arrived around 6:00pm on a Saturday without a reservation and were seated promptly. Nice ambiance with low mood lighting. For starters we ordered the cheese plate which came with fresh in house bread and salted butter. It's a good size for 1-2 people. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a larger appetite. The server was very attentive and he was engaging he highly recommended the grilled pistachio and herb crusted lamb which came with a side of roasted fennel and grapes. I love lamb so that's what I decided on for my main. It was tender and lightly seasoned. There wasn't really any type of "crust" aspect to it just more of a pistachio glaze on top which had a very faint light flavor. I enjoyed the fennel as well although presentation of the dish could be better. I ordered the Pink Lady cocktail which was so pretty, sweet and simple but not something I would order again. Peche is definitely on the pricier side but worth it for dates, girls night out or just treating yourself. Service was excellent and I'll be back again. PRO TIP: people rave about their happy hour prices which is everyday besides Saturday! Check them out!

I'm no expert on french food. I did not LOVE the items we chose, but the rest of the experience was relatively positive, so I would be willing to try other things. I think the escargot was mostly butter, with about six tiny snails. I supposed the point is to dip the bread, but the snails themselves were underwhelming being so few. I don't recommend the coconut orzo, either. Not very flavorful at all, and I don't know if it's very french either. The service is not friendly, but I wouldn't go to a french restaurant in Austin expecting friendliness. It could also be that we entered the restaurant about an hour before closing. The best thing about this restaurant is the ambiance. No gimmicks, no loud music, no TV screens everywhere. I really enjoyed the semi-circle leather booth for a close cocktail and candlelit snack without being subjected to other commercial stimuli. An obviously older building that has not been renovated with new-age cheap-looking fixtures. The decor appears measured and honoring the building's architectural past. And, the cocktails were decent. I'd go back, but I'd pick different food items. If you're an escargot fan usually, try it still, as I may be totally off.

Mac and cheese

Took advantage of Friday happy hour. Ordered a French 75 and the New York Sour to start. Both were picture perfect as well as delicious and score for them being only $6 each! That's honestly unheard of in the heart of DT Austin. We ordered the Mac and cheese which was a perfect mix of creamy with a crispy top. Also ordered the burger and it came with a generous portion of fries that were seasoned perfectly. The burger was yummy as well. Both were 1/2 off on the HH menu. My husband was impressed with their bourbon collection and asked the bartender a few questions about prices and types and he was very knowledgeable. Overall very impressed with the food, drinks and overall experience and will be back again for sure.

Ambiance: leans heavily into the moody vibe as it's really dark. Like, "is this a date or are we telling ghost stories?" dark. Each table has a little touch-sensitive lamp, which is kinda cute, but you might also find yourself reaching for your phone flashlight just to read the menu. It's a nice setting for catching up with friends, a low-key date, or celebrating something in a relaxed way. Probably not a place for kids, though no one's going to stop you if you bring them along. Service hit that sweet spot -- attentive without hovering. You don't feel rushed, but you also don't have to flag anyone down wondering where they disappeared to. Food: the menu mixes chalkboard specials with some French fare, and I liked seeing a bit of game on offer. (Including wild boar, lapine aka rabbit, quail, veal sweetbreads.) That said, the mains didn't quite deliver. The duck confit was too dry, lacking sufficient sauce to save the dish, and the stuffed quail was overly salty. It's still a nice downtown option if you're looking for something a little different and want a drink in hand, but if you're chasing big "foodie" flavors, this probably won't scratch that itch. Drinks and date nights? Yes. Bib Gourmand contender? Nope. This spot will always have enough business either way due to the location, dark mood, and an overwhelming choice of alcohol. Expect to pay downtown prices and additional parking $.

Lovely happy hour and a great place to try if you love French food! My husband and I came on a Monday afternoon for their all day Happy Hour. We were seated immediately, but could tell they were a little understaffed. We ordered escargot, French onion soup, mushroom fritters, beet salad and a burger to share. All were good but heavily fried and buttered up! The burger also took a while to come up. The serve was nice to pace out our food, but we've been at the restaurant for an hour and a half already by the time we got our burger. I'll definitely come back for drinks and apps with friends, but wouldn't do a full dinner here again.

THE BIG: French restaurant with a moody, texan vibe inside that's located off of 4th and lavaca street in downtown Austin. Street parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here for happy hour with the wife and Peche probably has the best happy hour in town. All day sunday and monday, you can snag $6 cocktails and half off select food (those that have an asterisk* next to their name). We got the escargot, mushroom aranchini balls, the burger, french onion soup and beet salad. All were decent but nothing really wowed. The beet salad was very interesting because the beets were thinly mandolined sliced in long strands. It looked awesome but eating it was a pain. We also received our burger an hour and a half late and it was because our waiter forgot and didn't even check up on us about it. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, damage done was around $60 for the five dishes on happy hour. Great value for what you get.

Daily specials (May 2025)

Péché is a great spot to grab a bite to eat in downtown Austin but it's overpriced unless you're visiting during happy hour. The interior is dimly lit and moody, the food is delicious, and the location is ideal for a lot of downtown venues but you're going to overpay unless you choose the half off menu items during happy hour. FAST FACTS: * Parking - street parking nearby but can be tough depending on how busy it is downtown * Reservations - available online through Resy * Happy Hour - all night on Sundays and Mondays and 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesdays through Fridays with $6 cocktails and 1/2 price food (starred menu items) * Daily specials offered SERVICE - I had a reservation for 2 at 5:00 pm on a Sunday... we were seated right away and they weren't overly busy. But, it definitely got busier within the hour. Our server, Jennifer, was fine... she made sure we had refills when needed and checked in on us throughout the meal. PRICING - The total was $75.23 after tax ($5.73) but before tip for a beet salad ($7.50 - HH pricing), classic French onion soup ($8.00 - HH pricing), mac and cheese ($9.00 - HH pricing), burger ($10.50 - HH pricing), Texas wild boar ragu ($34.00), and a side of aioli ($0.50). I think it's overpriced unless you're getting the 1/2 off menu items during happy hour. BEET SALAD (9/10) - I LOVED this! It's a great appetizer and is big enough to split. The red and golden beets are spiralized so it can get a little messy as you eat and the vinaigrette splashes off. But the mixture of textures is fantastic and the citrus vinaigrette pairs perfectly with the other flavors. I'd order this again! CLASSIC FRENCH ONION SOUP (9/10) - This was a great French onion soup! There was plenty of melted cheese on top and it had the perfect salty flavor. I'd order this again! MAC AND CHEESE (8/10) - The gruyère and grana padano cheeses are such a great combo! It's a good portion size to get as an appetizer or on the side of your entrees to split. I'd order this again! HALF POUND BURGER (8/10) - You can't beat this at the half off happy hour pricing! The burger was cooked well and was juicy, the house bacon was nice and thick, and the pickled red onions brought a nice acidity. You get a huge portion of fries on the side as well! The server asked if I wanted some garlic aioli on the side but didn't specify that it was an additional cost. I'd come back just to order this burger during happy hour because it's such a great deal! TEXAS WILD BOAR RAGU (7/10) - This was a very unique dish! The wild boar was tender and flavorful but not overly gamey. The crispy leeks added a nice crunch on top, especially since the gnocchi are soft. It just seems overpriced for the portion size. I probably wouldn't order this again. This was my first visit to Péché and I'd come back if I'm downtown on a Sunday or Monday when I can catch the happy hour deals all night. I don't drink alcohol but it seems like a popular place to grab cocktails and the interior has such a moody ambiance. I would recommend it to others but would caution against going outside of happy hour because it seems overpriced otherwise.

Is it okay to dine here if we have a child?

You wont see many kids in downtown austin but will be fine at peche

About how much do the cocktails cost?

Depends on what you drink. Anywhere between 8 to 20 dallors

Is there outdoor dining?

Unfortunately not. We would certainly go more often if there were.

Happy hour? What's the times and days.

All Day Sunday and Monday 4-7 Tuesday thru Friday Subject to change on holidays and special events

Do I need a reservation for HH on Thursday?

you should be fine without them

Are there any gluten free options for those that have Celiac's disease?

They do not have anything on the menu indicating that any meals are gluten free, but I'm sure if you called and asked, they may be able to further specify!

What are their beer options?

Not sure, but I think limited. More focused on cocktails.

What is the Sunday Happy Hour menu?

Certain cocktails are $5 and certain food items are half off. I'm having a $6 Caesar salad and an $8 mac and cheese with duck confit.

Bastille Day Celebration?

As far as I know, there is no Bastille Day celebration at Peche.

Could I come here alone and enjoy the environment or is it best to come with someone?

This is not a pickup bar... I think you could easily go there sit at a table or the bar and soak up the awesome ambiance while enjoying a meal, desert or just a great craft cocktail.… Read more

She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. It's a rainy night in Austin. My girlfriend is in town because my cousin and her fiancé are getting…read moremarried in Austin. It's also the weekend of our one year anniversary. An hour ago it wasn't raining, but now it's pouring. A few months ago, I heard of a newer bar and experience called Equipment Room just right off of South Congress. Music means everything to me. Nothing can express emotions and instill a feeling in 3 minutes like a song can. I live for that. Equipment Room is inherently Japanese in concept. Existing in Japan for over 50 years, listening bars combine high fidelity audio equipment with impressively crafted cocktails and alcohol combining the passion of music in a space to gather with comfortable chairs and a beautiful atmosphere. The concept has expanded westward as all cool things inevitably do, but I would never think a spot would be successful in Austin like it would be in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and so on. As I back my car into a parking spot on South Congress, I grab the umbrella out of my trunk and walk my girlfriend and me to the entrance trying to not get ourselves soaked in the process. This is not the first time we have tried to go to Equipment Room. We tried to get a walk-in table just to see out of morbid curiosity and that was a failure. I booked her and me a table for this night and I was madly looking forward to it. As we got to the small entrance, we were introduced to the hostess who brought us from the stairs into the main underground space and to our seats on the couch in a large wraparound sofa with other parties sitting near us. The music is faint from the entrance, but once you walk through the main walkway, a wave of sound hits your eardrums. You're immediately engrossed into the music like walking into a concert hall or putting a fresh pair of headphones on for the first time. As we sat down, selections from Outkast's Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik were playing through the speakers. Our hostess introduced us to their "User Manual" (their menu) where it contained all the snacks and drinks you could get your grubby hands on. There's more than just drinks and food on the menu. The first page introduces the concept and gives a few house rules. The second page shows all the equipment this so-called room has, from the premium Klipsch speakers, their preamps and amplifiers as well as their turntables and mixers. It's a dream page for music nerds. I want a $15k speaker in my apartment, but those noise complaints would never end. Our waitress came by shortly to give us water and take our order. Their menu is quite expansive, but the main pages we were told to check out were their A-side drinks or the classics and their B-side drinks, which are more experimental. We had to go with experimental for starters because who knows when you'll get to try something similar again. I started with a Goca Dünya while my girlfriend ordered a Deceptacon. The Goca Dünya was a vodka based floral drink with pistachio foam and Amaro Nonino, an Italian herbal liqueur. The Deceptacon was a rum-based cacao drink with a touch of lime and mint. It took a little time for our drinks to come out, clearly, as they are quite intricate. I loved my drink, bluntly. The pistachio foam was a great balance to the herbal flavors at the bottom. My girlfriend and I continued to enjoy each other's company as the music continued. The space we were in was decorated with posters and memorabilia from legendary artists coming through Austin and some general music decor like that purple album from that Prince guy. The DJ-curator that night was on a tear playing incredible soul music holding the bar hostage with a taste of funk. Jimmy Smith came next before transitioning to a few tracks from Bobbie Gentry. The last albums he pulled out were Steely Dan's Aja (a stone cold classic) and Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life (a top 10 album of all time). Not only was he playing classics like Isn't She Lovely, but he threw down some deeper cuts like Black Man and Contusion. Incredible. We both got another drink with my girlfriend getting their A-Side Espresso Martini while I got the Brown Sugar from their B-Sides. It was a seaweed and mushroom infused whiskey with a few more bells and whistles and it was super unique. Quite a bit of their menu is Japanese-inspired in homage to the originators of listening bars. This includes Japanese beer, sake, and Japanese-inspired food and beverages on their menu. Very cool. The worst part of the night came when our hour and 45 minute reservation came to a close. I could've stayed there for another 3 hours and never grown tired, but with how popular this space has become, they gotta kick you out at some point. This is an experience you have to have. It's worth it. I'll be strolling back in soon enough because there is nothing like this in Austin and it's truly a special space. RIYL: Actively listening to music.

Loved this place so much..!!! If you want to go somewhere to just lounge with low lighting and have…read moresome delicious drinks with great music in the background , this is place is it! They play no digital music and their speakers are installed throughout the whole building. The sound is great! The menu was so cute and on theme. The furniture and decor is mid century modern. I went here for my birthday and they gave my table a round of Sake shots, which was nice! My table ordered drinks: the Brown Sugar, Goca Dünya, Suffer No Fool (non alcoholic), Vitamin C. They were all delicious and they did not skimp on the alcohol! It was well balanced! I seriously recommend the Goca Dünya--that pistachio foam was addictive! For food, we got the Cheese board to have something to pick on and we demolished it, haha. It came with marmalade and crackers. The cheeses were great, along with the dried fruits and nuts. The cheese selections seem to rotate every other season, which is cool.
