Oh boy! It's like taking a time warp back home to Hawaii for a meal!! Foods flavor is delicious! Service is great and food comes out fast! You gotta try this place if you haven't already! Portion is great!

Galbi lunch special
Hen N.

I had my order to go. It was a short wait because I ordered before I got there and they had my order ready by the time I got there. The restaurant looked nice but I wasn't in it too long. There was plenty of parking when I got there. The food itself is packed in a plastic bento type of box that separates each part of the meal. I got the galbi lunch special. The slices of galbi are pretty thin but I liked the way it tasted. The portion of the whole order was just right as well. I would definitely order again for a quick lunch order.

Alaska Roll

we used to eat here a lot but the quality has gone downhill. i gave the restaurant a call to understand what is going on but they never answered. my 16.50 sansai hot udon noodle had all the worst cuts of the vegetable - bean heavy and almost no mushrooms. we ordered an alaska roll for 20.00 with the thinnest slices of salmon i've ever seen. the california roll for 6.50 was only 4 pieces

It's a small Japanese food shop that's been here for at least 20 years and I don't think much has changed over the years. I like the tempura and the gyu don is great too.

5/5 -- A Hidden Treasure in Oxnard! If you're hunting for a true comfort-food haven this winter, Ozeki Noodle is the little gem you'll want to keep all to yourself... but it's way too good not to share. The ambience is calm, clean, and quietly inviting--like Oxnard's own little pocket of Japan. The service? Warm, attentive, and wonderfully efficient. You know what truly makes this place? The authentic food. Every dish feels crafted with care. I love being able to sit down with a steaming cup of hot green tea, the most delicious tempura, a spicy tuna hand roll that never misses, and a bright, refreshing seaweed salad--without having to wait forever for seating or service. If you're starving, this is where you want to land for fast, delicious comfort. And the star of the show: the chicken bowl. I promise you will not find a chicken bowl this good anywhere else. Tender, flavorful, and so satisfying it deserves its own fan club. The tempura? Feathery, crisp perfection--easily the best in Ventura County. No exaggeration needed. Their miso is a warm winter hug, and the combo with the chicken bowl + rice + a large bowl of udon is the definition of cozy luxury. The broth is rich, the noodles are plush and filling, and you'll leave full with leftovers to smile at later. If you want authentic Japanese comfort, fast service, and food that feels like it was made just for you, Ozeki Noodle is your new cold-weather sanctuary.

Shrimp tempura Don

Why have you all let me sleep on this spot for so long? I had one of the best lunches I've had in a while here and who knew that I'd find amazing Japanese food at a little Oxnard strip mall restaurant?! If you are like me and have driven by this spot a hundred times and not bothered to step in, hurry up and turn around to make your way back because this place is phenomenal for homey comfort Japanese bites. This restaurant gives very mom and pop vibes with cute decor and excellent service. The restaurants decor was inviting and cozy but still spacious to accommodate a good sized group for a lunch or dinner rush. Service was 5 stars hands down. The waitress who took my order and bussed my food out was really nice and attentive. I was impressed at the pacing for the food as everything came out in good time. If you are coming on your lunch break it's good to know you can get in and out in 30 minutes, but they also don't rush you. The menu was bigger than I expected with a lot of great options. They have rice bowls, teriyaki, sushi, bento boxes and more. A nice variety. I was super hungry when I came in here so I luckily got to try a few of their popular items. Started with a miso soup which was super tasty, simple but made right. Alaskan roll: spicy tuna roll topped with fresh salmon. Delicious for a simple roll. The salmon tasted fresh and the spicy tuna had a good little kick to it, was a tasty roll given that they have a limited sushi menu. Some rolls and nigiri but definitely more of a specialty in their rice bowls. I had the tempura shrimp rice bowl with onions and eggs. Omg was this bowl full of flavor, great textures, and they don't skimp on the toppings. This shrimp Don was 5/5! Was one of the best dishes I've had in a while, it was simple but so tasty. I loved the sauce and texture that the crispy shrimp brought to the soft rice and eggs. I've been craving this dish since I left that I'm eager to get back here soon. Can't believe such an inconspicuous place is serving up some of the best Japanese home cooking in the 805. Love this spot and will be back soon, and with some friends!

Never been here before, but food was good. Very welcoming quaint place with fast service for 2 people working. Prices varied on certain items. Would consider returning to support this local place since it's been around since the Esplanade opened.

This place has always been consistent with their meals and customer service. Headed over for dinner after a day of work and a rosary service. We arrived an hour prior to closing and were still welcomed and seated in a friendly manner. The place is always kept clean and plenty of places to seat. We came for katsu Don and a couple appetizers which were served generously and at the appropriate amount of time. My favorite is still the bento boxes with salmon but the katsu Don was perfect dish as comfort food.

I'm not sure if the shop has a/c and it was not working or if they do not have a/c but was too hot to sit down inside with our ice cream. I've only had the Taiyaki (fish waffle with filling) at the shop in the Ventura Harbor so this was my first time trying a different shop's Taiyaki. The cashier took our order and our ice creams were ready within 7-8 minutes. I ordered an Ubechata Taiyaki with Oreo crumbs for my topping and Nutella as the filling inside of the Taiyaki. It was a great tasting ice cream and the Taiyaki was filled with ice cream and Nutella. So I felt like it was a good amount of ice cream. At $8.50 it felt like a good value. The other desserts looked delicious but the bowls servings looked larger and was $13+. This is a great addition to the Collection and is great if you are craving a Taiyaki but don't want to go to Ventura harbor.

The Japanese style of grilling each item on a stick and coveted bar seating around the open kitchen squeezed into a narrow bustling space is truly authentic. If you're claustrophobic, walk through the interior dining area to the back patio for an open air experience. Food is ordered from an App so come with a full phone battery charge. You order each skewer and all other items and they are brought to your table as they come off the grill. We ordered a couple Japanese draft beers and the Spicy Garlic Edamame to start as we studied the revolving selection of skewers on the menu. Tip- keep that edamame plate because you're going to want to double dip with that leftover sauce. You choose your own adventure here and the quality of the food and preparation are outstanding. I think Sushi when I think Japanese food-- not here- it's Kushiyaki style ! There's no Sushi! We ordered One of many variations of filet mignon, ribeye and chicken skewers in order to taste our way through the menu. We kept ordering 2 at a time and sharing. The Unagi was a stand out for my husband and apparently is very popular. I felt that that the beef skewers were more flavorful than the chicken but all the proteins were grilled to perfection and very tender. The Fillet with onion sauce and the ribeye with yuzu were standouts to me. The servers are friendly and efficient. If you want the full experience, come early and snag a seat at the bar so you can watch the dinner theater. Here the focus is on the perfect bite! Tip: if you map it, you'll drive right by it. Look for the downtown Cafe Ficelle on Main across from Ventura HS and park. Then walk toward the Tattoo studio until you see an open door full of people and no visible signage. It truly is a Hidden Gem!

After some time, the owner came to our table and told us that another customer's order had somehow been charged to my credit card. She said she would cancel the transaction and asked us to place the order again. Naturally, I was concerned and asked for an explanation of how another customer's order could be charged to my card. Unfortunately, she repeatedly said she didn't know and offered no explanation or reassurance. Her attitude was dismissive and surprisingly unconcerned about what could have been a serious payment system issue. Because I was uncomfortable with the situation and the lack of transparency, I decided to cancel my order and leave. She simply said "OK" and showed little interest in addressing my concerns. Whether this was a system error or not, customers deserve a clear explanation when their credit card is involved in an unexpected transaction. The poor customer service and lack of concern left a very negative impression. I would be extremely cautious about using a credit card here in the future.

The other side of the restaurant is the sushi side, but I've never ordered sushi here (yet). You can also order sushi on the teppanyaki side, though. Once you order your meal, it also typically comes with soup, salad, and white or fried rice. I always have plenty to take home in a to-go container for another meal. My favorite is the teppanyaki chicken. I've also ordered the teppanyaki steak, but the meat was a little dry and not well seasoned. Prices are reasonable at $25-35 a plate, and you will get plenty of food. This is also a good place to take kids, as you can share your meal with them, and they will (hopefully) enjoy the show the chef puts on as he cooks. The group I arrived with included over 15 people, so the staff seated us at one large table. This is definitely a great place for enormous groups.
