We drove far on winding roads. We saw this place on the way to see the Christmas lights Callaway . WE went to pull in and it was packed, always a good sign. We waited and finally got a parking spot. It was in the 50's and I did not want to sit at an outside bar, that had very loud people yelling at the football games. We put our name on the list to eat inside. One you go in to wait, you see just how small it is. No wonder the long line to get it. I stood and watch them put food on trays and wanted it all! Now, if you go in the winter, wear a jacket on the inside...really, it is the dame temperature as outside. Did not shake us at all It took 20 minutes and we had our spot. I will post pictures of the Menu. It all looked good. I had fried shrimp and catfish, steak fries, cole slaw. When you order hush puppies, you get a bowl full of them. See picture I added. Bob got shrimp and scallops and streak fries. It all was amazing and we would go again. Just be ready for crazy and don't write the place up if you do not have perfect service. I'm not giving any stars for this place. We walked in, we were seated relatively quickly, and then no one acknowledged us for over 10 minutes. There were two large tables next to us that the servers kept going to several times, but no one ever even took our drink order. Tonight's Oyster House Run was another delicious treat as we tried out the Lobster Fettuccine and the Shrimp Fettuccine as tonight's special. Both were amazing and we would recommend them to anyone. For sides we went with corn on the cobb, house salads and coleslaw. The sides were great with meal. To top it off when we walked in the door we were greeted by one our favorite waitresses Mercedes who always brings her A game with a smile and makes you feel welcome. Excellent food and service. The waitress didn't write anything down for our group of six, and yet everything came out perfectly. She got it all right, including drinks, appetizers, salad dressings, entrees...quite a talent! The oysters on the half shell were as good as we've had. The waitress said they get them from Louisiana. They were big, and fresh. The fried oysters were also excellent. French fries are the large steak fries, and the coleslaw is the usual small cup of slaw, not too sweet but fresh. Beware: for groups of 6 or more, an 18% tip is included on every bill, not unusual for groups, but we didn't notice and each tipped as if it hadn't already been added in. Our poor waitress was so sweet, she re-ran every bill for us, so we could adjust our tips accordingly. Highly recommended! read more

Oysters were old/sour. very expensive compared to average seafood restaurant prices and it was mediocre in taste. The Alaskan Cod was delicious and very large in size, which is a plus, and they serve very good mimosas. My recommendation: Lower your prices to standard prices until you can serve superb seafood at the current price you have. We all want to make money, however when you have a seafood connoisseur dining, a $200 plus tab should equate to happy faces around the table. Overpriced and still hungry. I couldn't have been happier with the food and service we received. We were a little apprehensive, thinking the service would be slow because the parking lot was packed! But I think that only meant the place was going to be awesome! We had to wait a few minutes for a table only because we were a party of 7 but when we were seated the waitress came immediately and got our drink order. The. The drinks came out even quicker. My son got the blackened salmon, rice pilaf and steak fries. It looked perfect. He said it was great, and he can be picky sometimes. My wife got the shrimp bowl. It was packed with shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. I kept picking at it. The sausage and shrimp were absolutely delicious.. the corn- a little soggy but not a deal breaker. It was all seasoned great, not too much or too little. I got the shrimp Alfredo, it was very creamy and tasty. The shrimp was large and filled me up. We all couldn't move when we left. I am originally from Savannah. Old time Savannah where you had seafood shacks on the side of the road serving up the best local seafood in the most unassuming of atmospheres. Hard to find anymore. Based on this, when we pulled up here, I said "It is either going to be completely awesome or a huge disappointment". I could not imagine getting good seafood in the middle of Georgia, and the place just looked a little plain (and possibly in need of a good cleaning- just the way I like my seafood shacks).. We had a new server but she was perfectly nice and if she didn't know something, she would go ask. We chose to split a shrimp bucket (low country boil) and the macaroni and cheese side. The whole thing was delicious. It was cooked properly and the shrimp were seasoned so nicely on the outside. The mac and cheese was the perfect side, filling and extremely decadently cheesy. There was only one piece of corn (probably frozen corn), and there were two of us, so it would have been nice to have two. If I ordered again I would ask them to give us an extra corn. I really want to go back and try the fried shrimp. The whole place made me miss my home or what Savannah used to be. You cannot find this there anymore and also not in Atlanta. We did takeout as a COVID precaution. The place was packed and not a mask in sight. Website was so not user friendly and menu on line did not match up to menu at restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff but very surprised at portion size for the price $60; + tip for two sauté plates-- one trout the other shrimp and scallops. The rice pilaf was delish but teeny portion and failure to put our sides in was very frustrating. Also no tartar sauce for scallops. I expected more for price. Been there; done that. read more

Found this gem on my way to Calloway Gardens with some family friends for Labor Day. After a day of walking around in the sun, we were in the mood for some seafood so we checked it out. The service was super. The waiter was super informative, helpful and friendly. The manager even treated our table to my oyster Bloody Mary shooters. For my first oyster shooter I was pleasantly surprised! Appetizers were a plate of raw oysters at the table. For my entree I ordered a Po boy with sautéed shrimp and fries, pretty simple but delicious. The main reason I'm giving the establishment 3 stars is due to cleanliness. My party decided to sit outside which was fine overall... Until all of our food arrived. We were then swarmed with flies which was disgusting. I understand this is Georgia and we are in the country but my goodness spray a little, clean up the ground for spilt food and also close the lid to the dumpster. That will help keep flies away immensely! Also the bathroom was about as clean as your average Waffle House or small gas station. read more

Don't let the appearance fool you! This place has great fresh seafood! My group has visited here twice on our visits to Pine Mountain. The food is better than some seafood restaurants on the coast. We had steamed oysters that were incredibly fresh and fried shrimp and scallops. The restaurant was busy on a Wednesday night about 8:30 but we got a booth quickly. If you like seafood, this is the place to be. Went there on a Saturday night and it was quite busy (good sign). I sat at the bar because I was pretty hungry and I was by myself. Looking at the menu, I thought to myself it was a tad pricey, however, when my meal arrived those thoughts disappeared. The portion sizes are unbelievable (see pictures I posted). In addition, it was some of the best hand breaded cod (they also have tempura style and they also have catfish) I've had. Yum Yum Yum is all I can say. They make all their own sauces like Tartar and Shrimp sauce and wow, delicious. I've traveled, lived and worked all over the US (and Mexico), and I would say the only other seafood place that came close to The Oyster House, was Legals Seafood in Boston, MA (Legals caters all the Presidential Inaugurations). the service....The Service was top notch all around - my server was Shelly and she seemed to have 8 hands (didn't notice if they served octopus, lol). Seriously, she showed just the right amount of attentiveness - not too present and not too absent - just right. She seemed genuinely interested in me and liked her job - thank you Shelly - great job! All this to say is its wonderful to see top quality businesses come to Pine Mountain. Pine Mountain is a hidden gem with wonderful people. Of course we have Callaway Gardens, but its the town itself that makes this place great! I hope we continue to attract business the caliber of "The Oyster House". I can't believe I waited an hour and a half to eat sub par seafood. The oysters tasted just like every other raw oyster out there. The lobster bisque tasted like someone added the entire shaker into the soup. The gator tail was also too salty. The place is loud, and the seats are uncomfortable. The place is not fancy. It looks like a typical diner with oily floors but the food is good and service is great. I was told that the oysters are from Louisiana. I have to admit that I'm an oyster snob and I would usually not order oysters from that region but I had the baked oysters and it was good. Chicken wings (thai chillies sauce) together with fried catfish and shrimp basket was good. The New England clam chowder soup did not look like what I'm used to but it was also good good. I was very leery seeing only 3 reviews posted over the last 20 days, but we decide to give this place a shot anyway. I went in looking real hard for a glitch or fault with this place. We learned the restaurant has only been opened for 7 weeks, but if they can keep up the pace, service and quality of food they will be here for many years to come. The restaurant wasn't very big, only seats 58 people at capacity. They had at least 7 or 8 servers working and another 6 or 7 working the kitchen. Service was quick, the food was perfectly cooked and hot. You could tell the food was cooked to order and not pre-cooked and kept warm. They do have a full service bar and the drinks are reasonably priced. As I stated I tried real hard to find something wrong with this place; here's all I could come up with... If I could give this place zero stars I would! We drove 30 minutes specifically for oysters for my daughter' birthday and that's what she wanted. We arrived, was seated at our table and as we started ordering, then we were told they were all out of fresh oysters and macaroni and cheese. Then we were told they did have fried oysters available. I wouldn't dare try those because either they were pre battered store bought or not fresh and were hoping the grease they are fried in would mask the taste. We ordered the hot shrimp and crab dip that was lukewarm and served with what looked and tasted like smashed, grilled hot dog buns. My friend ordered blackened shrimp with rice, was told it was a serving for 2 and actually it was a child's serving, covered in grease not overpriced. Every meal was overpriced for the quality.
