What a great restaurant in Pine Mountain. This was our second visit and like the first it did not disappoint. Our server Brook was fantastic, she was very attentive to our needs. Our food was freshly cooked and very tasty. As we were sitting next to we're the food came out, we were able to see many different items and everything look very good. On our way to Callaway gardens we passed by Oyster House and you know it, I had to stop. Anna was our waitress and she's absolutely amazing. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is the soup was cold. Who serves cold clam chowder? The rest of the food was off the chart delicious. Nothing was pre prepped all was fresh. Fresh shrimp, fresh oysters and one of the best batters I have ever tasted in my life. Their tartar and cocktail sauce were delicious as well. Visiting FDR Park, we decided to eat out. Found this establishment and six of us ate there for dinner. We had the Fried Shrimp, Surf and Turf, Salmon and chicken fingers. Everything was delicious. I was skeptical about ordering steak at a seafood restaurant but it was really good. Since it was surf and turf I got the fried oysters with the steak and expected maybe four or five oysters for the surf part, but they brought out a bowl of about 12 big fried oysters and they were excellent. Almost could not finish it all. We all voted and there were three 5 stars, two 4 stars and one 2.5 stars (they said their salmon was a little dry). Christine the server was excellent. We were staying at FDR state park and wanted to grab dinner on our first night instead of cooking so we found the Oyster House. Small but adequate parking lot that would have more spots of customers would park correctly but this is obviously not the business's fault. We were promptly greeted and asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside. We chose outside as it was fairly nice out and not crowded. We were brought menus promptly and our drink orders were placed. We ordered cokes, waters and two beers. Not a bad selection of drinks and service was prompt. We ordered the crab and cheese dip, raw oysters, BBQ oysters, kids chicken and rice, blackened salmon with vegetable medley and rice, crab legs, and shrimp bucket. All came out pretty quickly and correct. The dip was good and came with a hoagie that was grilled and sliced into pieces. Interesting take and usage of buns that I admire as someone that has used what I had on hand to make meals. Creative marks for sure and different. The kids meal was a large portion of chicken and rice and tasted good. The BBQ oysters were fried (much to our son's surprise probably due to the fact he did not read the description) but they were tasty and the sides were as well. The salmon was perfect, a large portion and I ended up taking over half home. The crab legs were good. The shrimp bucket was large with red potatoes, sausage, and corn as well as large tasty shrimp. We just had dinner there on Sunday night. The woman who took care of us was maybe the owner? Super nice. We ordered the First Mate Platter, scallops and shrimp. Omg. It was completely awesome. Such a light breading. Perfectly cooked. Steaming hot. We also got a side of the Mac and cheese. It was also comforting and delicious in a homemade way. Got a couple of glasses of wine. We were set after a long weekend. I brought home a slice of key lime pie, which was okay...I'm guessing there are probably better deserts on the menu. Easily a 5-star experience. Thank you. This was our second visit today and we'll be back a bunch more during our two plus weeks here at Calloway Gardens. Based on two visits I can give you a couple of pointers. Our first visit was on the evening of our arrival here and we arrived at the store around 7:30 pm. We began with a dozen raw. The tray appeared with the oysters on the half shell covered in ice which we had to scoop to the side off each oyster. The reason for this presentation was immediately apparent. The oysters had been shucked long before. But though showing signs of drying out despite the ice on top, they were still tasty enough. We ordered the Trio platter of fried oysters, scallops and shrimp. This comes with a very nicely prepared and tasty cole slaw and served atop enough large cut french fries to feed the entire Chinese army, if one were inclined to feed the entire Chinese army. LOL. The fried scallops and shrimp were perfectly fried. The oysters not so much so...over done, as is so often the case with fried oysters in so many restaurants, rendering the oyster almost non-existent inside the shell of the crispy batter. Today we visited the store promptly at the noon opening. The oysters were freshly shucked and tasty (Louisiana oysters). I discovered a lovely IPA here today, Wild Leap's Chance IPA. Very, very nice. As anticipated at this hour today the oysters were freshly shucked and tasty. As we were interested in the peel and eat shrimp I had two questions for our server. One: as your peel and eat shrimp are served hot are they prepared freshly to order, or are they cooked before hand and then reheated before serving (which would invariably guarantee that the shrimp would be way over-cooked). She said the shrimp are cooked to order. Second: are the shrimp fresh ? She said the shrimp are fresh. I give her the benefit of the doubt. She simply may not have known or understood what I was asking. However as soon as the bucket of shrimp was placed on the table it was clear that these were not fresh shrimp. The shells were cut and the shrimp deveined as are packaged frozen shrimp and the flesh had that translucent appearance of cooked shrimp that have been previously frozen. As we left I thanked the guys cooking and asked, "Say are the peel and eat shrimp previously frozen?". To which both nodded their heads and said yes. Just so you know what to expect. I am not complaining, just explaining so you know, though boiled previously frozen shrimp are quite unpleasant. read more

We went here on a Monday evening and it was moderately occupied but we were able to sit down immediately. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We ordered the Half Fish Fry and the Lobster Mac as well as a half dozen garlic butter oysters. Overall everything was quite good and the portions were large on the fish fry and the Mac however, the oysters were disappointing. $18-19 bucks for six oyster shells with meat the size of a quarter in it that just tasted okay. Decided to come here while visiting Calloway Gardens. A friend and I got in late Friday and dropped by, however they were just closing. Nonetheless, we spoke with spoke with a few employees outside who asked us to come back the next day, so we did. The food was superb! I got the Baby Bee Bucket, and my friend ordered the catfish dish. SUPERBBBBBBB! They also sang me, "Happy Birthday." We sat at the bar and Christina ensured we were well taken care of. My wife and I had a nice house salad, a dozen oysters and shared a shrimp bucket. We really enjoyed everything. The staff were friendly and right on top of everything relative to service. Visiting Warm Springs historic sites, however there they roll the sidewalks up at 5pm , particularly on Sunday. So a little yelp search turned up this little jewel. As the sign out front says, Seafood done right. Oysters were fabulous, New England Clam Chowder as good as any in Boston. Nice full bar for this part of the world. We went here for the first time tonight. What a great place. My wife had the lobster salad and loved it. A chopped-up lobster tail with no mayo but served on top of a great salad with dressing on the side. I went for the cooked oysters and a side of coleslaw and chowder. Friday,March 8, 2024 enjoyed visiting TOH. Needed to eat in another town , so Quaint. Ordered 12 Oysters on the Half shell, 1/2 Fish and Chips, 1/2 Catfish Fillet Dinners. Tasted as if the Fish had just been caught in the back lake behind the Restaurant. Very hot , plenty of it and Simply Delicious! Live the Homemade Fries, like no other. Beverages...Water and Arnold Palmer, had a travel drink also. Our waitress was very nice, professional. Checked often to see if everything was find. Nice eating climate upon entrance. Completely 5 stars, would give 10 IF I COULD!! we came in @8:30 at closing time and we still received phenomenal service!! We were immediately seated and got menus. everyone enjoyed their food and drinks! The service was really my favorite part. all the servers were genuinely nice and welcoming. I felt like I was at home as I also had all my closest family with me. I ordered buffalo shrimp and it was great. The only thing I don't recommend is the clam chowder, wasn't my fav but still kinda tasty. Peach margarita fish bowls were very tasty and had all the adults feeling great. We enjoyed a tasty lunch after visiting Callaway gardens. The service was friendly and helpful. My husband got a bucket with steamed shrimp and added crab legs. He liked it. It came with steamed potatoes and corn. My teenage daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo and a side of rice. She found it very filling so we brought half of it home. I had the fried oysters and a side salad and we got an extra Mac and cheese, the specialty as an appetizer and shared it as a family. It was extremely cheesy and satisfying. My son got the kids' chicken and rice dish that was tasty. He also tried the clam chowder which he liked. Staff all wore masks and there was hand sanitizer at the entrance. I don't normally eat catfish but their's was really good and I'd order it myself next time instead of eating my husband's. We ordered the seafood cheese dip that burger of us cared for at all.
