My fiancé and I toured potential wedding venues at Callaway this afternoon. After our tour, we were hungry, so we decided to get a casual "linner" at Carson's Tap Room. The ambiance is casual barroom with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat at a hightop table inside. Sara, our server, was very attentive, friendly, and quick. To start, I had a bottle of Stella Artois. Sara asked if I wanted it in a chilled glass and I'm so glad I said yes. It was so cold and tasty. To eat, my fiancé and I shared several things and ate every bite: Caesar salad, tortilla chips with beer cheese dip, margherita flatbread, and Mediterranean flatbread. The Caesar was decent--nothing to write home about, but it got the job done. The beer cheese dip with the chips was super yummy, especially paired with the beer I was drinking. Food and ambience is great. Not many tables inside so if it's a cool day or evening, or if there is weather you won't be able to get a table. Our server, Brian, at Cason's Tap Room was excellent--friendly, attentive, and a noticeable contrast to the service we received at the resort's high-end dining venue, the Piedmont Dining Room. The overall service experience at Cason's was significantly better. The food at Cason's was average--nothing particularly special or memorable. My husband had the crab cake sandwich, and I ordered a flatbread topped with chicken, goat cheese, and caramelized onions. While the crust of the flatbread was quite good, the chicken tasted processed, more like something from a bag or the freezer section of a grocery store than freshly prepared. Given the level of quality Callaway Gardens Resort and Spa strives to represent, it's disappointing that the food continues to be mediocre and overpriced. We visit the resort every other year for a conference and continue to hope for meaningful improvements to the dining experience. read more

We finished up our massage and decided to try Cason's because it was within walking distance. It was great that they had outdoor options as the weather was perfect! Our waitress came to our table quickly and refilled our drinks frequently. We decided to try the Brussels sprouts with the blue cheese, bacon and balsamic vinegar and they had a lot of flavor. I ordered the fried green tomato sandwich and it was delicious. The pepper jelly really made that sandwich. My wife ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and said it's one of the best she's ever had. I give Cason's Tap Room 3 stars, or "A-OK." My family and I dined here tonight while staying at the Callaway Lodge. The food was pretty good for the prices, the service was just below average. I ordered the Seared Salmon Sandwich and loved it. It's served on Texas Toast and is a perfect combination of flavors. The fries are also very tasty. I had a taste of my friend's Shrimp & Grits, and it was definitely the better of the two dishes. Super flavorful! I would probably order that if I came here again. Our server was kind but seemed like she wanted to stay at our table as short as possible. I think she came by a total of 4 times during our whole meal, even after we waited 10 minutes after sitting down for her to come. I try to be as understanding as possible on staff shortages and servers being overwhelmed, but the restaurant wasn't super crowded so I feel like she could have done a better job. The food did come our reasonably quickly, though. We just never got refills or anything like that. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant, just know you may have to wait a little bit. read more

Recommend wine, beer, but don't waste money on the cocktails. Strongly suggest for the local Cason/Callaway onsite management to listen to the feedback on this site regarding your cocktails and try each drink on the cocktail menu. Consultation with an experienced mixologist is much-needed. Lastly, remember you are in the South - the host needs to embrace southern hospitality with a friendly smile that makes the customers feel welcomed. read more

We have really enjoyed this patio venue during our visit to the Gardens. We come for a cocktail around 5:30 followed by a light supper most frequently of the killer Mediterranean flatbread which os consistently absolutely delicious. On one occasion we shared a burger that was very tasty and enjoyable. The Old Fashioned here is poured with a splash of soda water so, if like me, you're not a fan of a soda Old Fashioned be sure to request it sans soda. We arrived at Casons excited. The menu looked great for the food and the drinks. However, sadly, the beverages were watered down, the main courses were flavorless and the service was extremely poor. Very surprised at the other reviews for this restaurant. My girlfriends and I had a great experience here. It's located at the Lodge and Spa at Callaway gardens. It was open post covid so patrons needed to wear masks as they walked through the dining room but could remove them when they got to their table. They have craft cocktails, a nice wine list and a few beers that they brew. Our server made every effort to make it a wonderful dining experience for the 4 of us. We sat at a table in the patio. We ordered a charcuterie board to begin with which had delicious blue cheese (my favorite) and meats. For my main meal I had the filet mignon with garlic butter over asparagus , my girlfriend had the salmon. All of our meals were excellent and the staff was very friendly. read more

This is located on the inside of the Callaway Gardens Hotel. Typical pub fare with deep fryer on the constant run. I requested 3 different wines on the menu and they were out of them all. So i shifted gears to the beer- the beer is very mediocre. You'd think in a pub with craft beers blazing glory in GA, they would keep a few of the darker beers, ales, maybe a porter in house? Nope. The lagers were A-OK, I would not return for the beer. They got 3 starts for the service. I would come back for the cheese plate, the accommodations made for my choices, the OUTSTANDING waitress we had who left no stone unturned to make the experience still memorable. Unfortunately if you stay at the gardens hotel, this might be your best bet to get booze so you are kinda stuck with what they have to offer. read more

Cason's was quiet a pleasant experience. Most things close around here at 8:00 . Went down from the lodge for a quick dinner outside before the storm rolled in. There was a group standing in the bar area, but the server quickly asked where we wanted to sit and told us to pick a seat. Our waitress came right out and took our order. Didn't talk much about the drink selections or anything about the menu. But we wanted to try the wings and sweet potatoes tots nachos. The wings were my husbands choice and he loved them. The hot is ! Even my husband said he should have gotten mild. But definitely worth it and the custom sauce is very good, Smokey. The sweet potato tot nachos were really good too! Definitely enough for one. You can also get with pulled pork but I opted not. Definitely a good option if your in the area or visiting the resort. read more

Chicken was dry on salads and ravioli. Ravioli tasted like sea food but was not supposed to have sea food. NEVER EVER AGAIN !!! We arrived at 4:15pm at the Lodge to check in for our cabin stay and the front desk was over crowded and appeared quite stressed. So we decided to check the restaurants down the hallway -- The Piedmont Dining Room and Cason's Tap Room -- and at 4:30pm we placed our name on the wait list as they did not open until 5pm. Our first clue that there might be a problem was the nice lady in the lobby passing out complimentary drink passes "for two" -- I guess to offset the wait line to check in or perhaps to help us drink to help numb the upcoming experience we would soon have. Shortly after 5pm we were seated for dinner in Cason's Tap Room, a party of 7 adults and 4 children. After the complimentary drinks, and a couple more, our order was finally taken at 5:50pm --- 50 minutes after we were seated. We were told "they got a big rush and everyone came in at the same time and the kitchen did not have enough help and they were doing the best they could do". This was there response on a Sunday night when they know lots and lots of people are checking in to stay and go to the Christmas Light Show and when they know they open at 5pm so how could a rush of people be unexpected. After we placed our order we received our appetizers at 6:20 -- 30 minutes after they were ordered. With four hungry children the chips were soon gone so we asked for some more chips and we were told "oh those are kettle chips and it will take a long time for the kitchen to make them because they are overwhelmed" -- CLEARLY these were not house made kettle chips and we were flabbergasted at the response we got -- so the kids had to just wait for their food to be served. Keep in mind that we were first name on their seating call list at here it is 6:20pm and we are just getting appetizers while we watch all of the table around us being served their food. The lame responses and excuses we were given by the waiter seemed almost as if this was a regular occurrence here and he had answers and response to cover the delays in service and lack of their ability to cope with five tables of quests in their restaurant (that was all that was seated in the room we were in -- just 5 tables). Unbelievably at 6:50pm our meals were served -- FINALLY -- this is one hour and fifty minutes after we were seated. It is absolutely not acceptable for a resort restaurant to not be able to serve a a table of eleven people for one hour and fifty minutes. Normally, anywhere else we're up and walking out, but we we "stuck" here as we were waiting for the trolley for the light show and there are no other restaurants nearby that we could have gone to. This is the Christmas Light Show season for Callaway Gardens --- they are (should be) expecting large crowds of people -- they can tell be the number of reservations they have -- and to be totally unprepared and surprised by a large crown of people all at once when they make you wait until they open at 5pm seems pretty incomprehensible and management is surely incompetent if they do not staff to meet what should be a fairly regular routing during this time of year on a weekend. To add insult to this entire saga -- they added an automatic 18% gratuity to the tab. My wife and I were being treated by our children and we told them they should not pay 18% for the way we were treated. I don't know what they finally decided to do but they did say the "manager" offered s 10% discount -- which was after she tried to get us to accept "free dessert". What a train wreck. read more
