Rueben Sandwich with Fried Green Beans
Nancy G.

We visited today for Lunch/Dinner. Did not disappoint! The food was amazing and delicious, I had the salmon with Broccoli. My husband had the delicious Reubun! Of course our server was friendly and prompt it's the perfect place to go and spend as much time as you like enjoying this lil gem

Reuben sandwich that comes with a side. I chose fried pickles

The best Reuben sandwich I've ever had. There was so much meat on it. I had fried pickles as my side and they were delicious. Definitely enough for another meal. Our waitress, Georgia was very attentive always kept our glasses full and always had a smile on her face.

Extra stop on the way home to see atmosphere and offerings. Such great service. Drinks are top notch. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy. We did not get food this time but in looking at menu and other's plates, we will be back!

Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer

Great food, large portions and cool atmosphere! Their appetizers are the size of entrees!

Ribeye and mashed potato, onion rings, honey black jack burger and sweet potato fries

It's a casual place perfect for casual or date night. My husband and I dined here for dinner. We tried rib eye with mashed potato, honey black jack burger with sweet potato fries, and their peanut butter pie for dessert. Everything was excellent. Server was super friendly and kind. We enjoyed our time.

Came here after a morning of exploring the area. Was busy when we arrived around 1:30, but we wanted to try it. So glad we did. It's cozy in the bar/dining room, and we wanted to sit on the covered porch but it was full with a special event. We saw a lot of interactions between staff and what might be locals/regulars, which is nice. We each tried something different (I didn't get photos of it all): Chicken salad on a bed of greens, side of seafood stew Reuben with fries Patty Melt with onion rings Greek burger with fries All of it was generous portions, and delicious. I would recommend any of it, but you might want to split an entree if you're in the mood for dessert (we had zero room for that but they sounded good). The salad dressing is house made, and we were glad to find a fun local place for a good burger. Apparently the weekly burger specials are worth the trip to Pine Mountain- I know I plan to return.

Love this place, we always look forward to eating here. Generous portions, always well prepared with great presentation. Definitely a favorite spot because it is consistently good!

An extremely aggressive, rude and lying hostess!

Please do not part-take in this restaurant!! They are rude and only out for the money. They say they do not take reservations, yet they have reserved tables. We have been here for 11/2 hours and still can not get a table! And there are available tables!! Please find a nicer owner and staff to give your money too. We love to help the locals, but only those who understand how a business is run!

Great service and food. Only disappointment was it no longer serves open face roast beef sandwiches which was what most of reviews praised

Also came with a huge wedge of cake. The chicken was very flavorful and fried well. The green beans were tasty as well. I wasn't a fan of the cake..a bit dry. And who doesn't love a creamy Mac n cheese. I had heard great things about the food here so I was glad I was finally able to try it. They lived up to their reputation.

A quintessential…read moremeat-and-three in the Auburn area, Pannie-George's definitely gives patrons a truly southern experience. I've been to hundreds of these local eateries all over the Southeast and will offer my honest opinion. In true Lower Alabama fashion, the fried chicken batter is thin and crispy (not thick and crunchy), the mac 'n' cheese is runny but cheesy, and the pork chops are soaked in gravy. It's delicious comfort food for the after-church crowd pouring in on a Sunday, or customers looking for an affordable bite to eat on a weekday. There are some downsides that prevented my rating from mirroring the stratospheric and glowing reviews on user-driven platforms like Yelp. While the batter is wonderful, the chicken is dry. The rice is uneventful. And the mac 'n' cheese was a little runnier than I prefer but wonderfully flavorful nonetheless. The choices for bread were stale Hawaiian rolls or homemade cornbread. For dessert, the lemon pie is quite delicious. And the experience is authentic and enjoyable. I recommend Pannie-George's for a simple, hearty meal.

First red flag I saw was when I went to the bathrooms. I noticed the signs stated "ONLY WOMEN ALLOWED" and "ONLY MEN ALLOWED" which gave me an icky feeling but I figured maybe I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. But then when I went back to the table and started eating and my friend joined me, a man came up to our table and got in her face and started yelling at her that she scared his daughter by going to the bathroom. However, there was no daughter in sight, plus there was no one else in the bathroom besides me, her, and there was a waitress who went in after. He got really aggressive and I was surprised that no one on staff did anything to mediate the situation. This was the worst discriminatory moment I've had ever witnessed in a restaurant. Luckily my friend's partner came and eventually I think the man got scared so he left. Transphobia is not okay, and this man & the bystanders who did nothing should all be ashamed of themselves. The bathroom signage also does not help at all-- and my friend has been a loyal customer of this establishment and told me the signage used to just say WOMEN & MEN so the language changed. As for service - it's a buffet so it's self service but complete lack of empathy from staff was extremely disappointing.

The selections are varied with my favorites - the collard greens, cream corn and fried chicken. Oh yea, the fried green tomatoes and the red sauce from the salad bar. Yes, they have a salad bar. There were 7 of us and we finished the meal with all having a different dessert - and there were more to choose from. The staff was welcoming, gracious and small town professional. Did I forget patient as we stayed around talking until they closed. Thanks for letting life-long friend use our dining experience to catch up with each other. The restaurant fits in nicely with the town and shops. The vintage architecture reminds patrons of years gone bye. We all would recommend you go there to experience this gem of a restaurant.

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.
