To date, the best Oxfam shop I've found in London. Two floors of goods, women's on the ground floor and men's in the basement. My typical hit-list is suits and books, with a once-over to other stuff. I didn't find any suits on this visit, but I did find some books. Basically, I look for authors. There is a short list I check for, including Martin Amis, Jay McInerney, Sherman Alexei, Richard Russo and others. I'm normally lucky to find one, but on this day I found two - Amis and McInerney - and both books were ones that I haven't read. I also picked up a Pocket Guide to French New Wave Film, which should pay some serious dividends at upcoming dinner parties and what have you.
The shop itself was very neat and well organized, and the cashier was quite courteous. I will be sure to stop by this Oxfam whenever I'm in the area. read more
