It stocks unusual cards, gifts, jewellery, handbags, paintings, candles and so much more. It's a great place to find something unusual and is particularly good for gifts for new babies. There are so many beautiful things here I often end up wanting one of everything. Some of the stock is reasonably expensive, but there really is something for everyone. Plus if you're buying something as a gift they will gift wrap it for you too free of charge. A real treasure!

This big Tesco Homeplus is a bargain hunter's dream. As it's out of the way at the back of the Two Rivers shopping centre it hardly ever seems busy - the best time to come is after 5pm (it's open till at least 7pm most nights) and you can pretty much have the place to yourself. Tesco's books are particularly good value and they often do a 2 for £7 for their top paperbacks. The clothing ranges are also good value and the sizes (particularly for men's ranges) go quite high. The Staines Homeplus is generally kept tidy and I've found staff to be helpful. My only two (minor) quibbles would be that sometimes goods are reduced and the first you know about it is when you're paying for them - if you'd known earlier you might have bought more than one item. And secondly, that when it does get busy there often aren't enough tills open so that you end up waiting longer to pay than you'd like.

The menswear department had thinned out and it looked very much like they were in preparation for closing down in 2021. The planning application has already been approved to convert the entire store to apartments. A sad day for Staines being the largest store and I recall working Saturdays in the electrical department managed by London Electricity 30 years ago.

The cosmetics department on the Ground Floor looks smart and has recently been updated, but the further back in the shop you go the scruffier it seems to get. Some of the upper floors also seem a bit scruffy. Sale stock seems to hang around for months and looks very jumble-sale like. Some of the sale clothes look grubby and stained as they've been out on show for so long. I particularly like the Designers at Debenhams section as I have a particular fondness for handbags, but find that the goods in the rest of the shop can be over-priced. Having said that, Debenhams seem to permanently have a sale at the moment which encourages me to shop there a bit more. I haven't ever found the staff in the Staines branch particularly good or particularly helpful. I recently returned something to the store which I'd bought on the Debenhams website and though this is encouraged on the website it turned into a bit of a farce, with the assistant calling the department manager, who had to call his manager and eventually the store manager to find out which buttons to press on the till. All in all, a distinctly average store.

You can buy loads of different kinds of things here - cards, stationary, books, educational toys, boxes of chocolates and biscuits, jewellery, gift toiletries, bird food, feeders, nest boxes and plants that have been grown in the Savill Garden nurseries. You can find things here that are a bit different from the goods in most other shops in the area. The stock is seasonal so it does change regularly - it's worth a few visits over the months to see what they've got.

The shop is a relatively new addition to Egham and a welcome alternative to Clintons which is much more expensive. It's particularly worth a visit just after Christmas for bargain cards and wrapping paper for next year. The staff are friendly and are happy to help if you're looking for something special.

However, the chain has come a long way in recent years and is now a great place to find ladies clothes and accessories, kid's clothes and men's clothes. The Egham branch carries the following ranges: ladies, Plus, Petite, accessories, lingerie, kids, teen girls (called Kylie), mens, shoes and home (though there's only a very small amount of homewares. I particularly like the jewellery ranges they do and have bought things here very cheaply that have been admired by friends who thought I'd spent much more. The Plus range is good too, though some of the fabrics aren't as good as they could be. The majority of it is great and I have loads of things I've bought from here.
