Overflow Cafe is 1 of my 20 favorite non-chain restaurants. This is one of the many local restaurants that I love for the concept but a lot more than that. The place is a ministry of sorts, as it's like the food version of a Christian Store, but less Bible thumpy, or as a paraphrase of their slogan says, "spreading the gospel through hospitality and love." How is this relevant to someone who doesn't want to go to a Christian restaurant? Very! You'll see Christian decor, and the "owner" (he hates titles, but he DID found the place) is a reverend, but they won't be preaching to you unless you ask of it. The best part restaurant-wise is that almost all funds for the place come from church offering, and the workers are volunteers, so you are basically paying for the food and nothing else. In other words, the food is worth half of what you're paying for! I got the most expensive sandwich, the Overflow Club, with pasta salad and a sweet tea all for about $9! On top of that, although a smaller server than I'd like (I got 2 of those cups) the pasta salad was the best pasta salad I've had in a while. While all surrounding restaurants will charge at least twice the price, Overflow Cafe supports the neighborhood with many different phenomenal events, cheaper price, and fantastic hospitality not ot mention great art! If you ever in Cambridge, go to 400 Muir Street for this experience. It's only coincidental that my journal (to the right of the table) is very fitting for this place haha. read more

Nice spot to grab some tasty sandwiches or soup. Everything was fresh and good. You order at the counter and they bring out the food to your table when it is ready. Got a chicken salad on ciabatta and a Rueben sandwich. Quick service and iced tea was so good too. read more

What an amazing place! The menu is simple but the food is delicious and obviously made with love. The service is based on hospitality, you go in and you're treated like a friend. The ambiance isn't created by the place but the people, they all share their smiles and reasons Cambridge matters. It's not just that you should go - you actually may need to. Great food and services. You cannot beat the prices they are an excellent group. The staff are volunteers and work the cafe so that there is a place in the community with good food at an affordable price. Homemade sweet tea! Try the superglue with ham and turkey. Highly Recommend! read more

The owner of the business is a great guy and I was there a few weeks ago for the first time in years, the food is priced well and affordable, the service is friendly, and you meet nice people in the cafe, and of course the coffee is great. Found this place by circumstance via GPS. Once I arrived; I was greeted by a friendly couple who ran the place. This place is actually built and exists as a community gathering spot managed by the Church. The food was excellent! All menu items were originally from the locals' recipes. So everything has substance, but much healthier than any chain places you may attend. Here is what I ordered and I definitely recommend what I had: -BBQ Pulled pork w/Cranberry BBQ sauce (on Ciabatta bread) -Cup of Vegetable Soup -Sweet Ice Tea Total: $6.50 *All items on menu are customizable for a low up-charge* It was a lot of food for $6.50 Everyone in this establishment was very welcoming. This is a magical place. The live music performed by local talents is such a delight. Now, I'll admit that I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't really comment on that. (Although I've heard from others that it's pretty darn good.) But I can comment on the food. Wow! I tried the chili and it was out of this world. And, although they don't make it every night, if you get a chance to sample the stuffed green pepper soup, you'll understand what heaven tastes like. We stopped in to grab a quick bite. The prices were hard to believe. $3 for a blt with a side of the best cole slaw i've ever had. Made by hand! The staff are all volunteers to support their ministry. The prices are kept low so the neighborhood clients struggling can get a nice meal at a great price. It's in what looks to be an old gas station but full of cute coffee shop charm. The staff and customers were so friendly they made us feel like we were long time customers. read more

I just moved to Cambridge from San Diego (so I know about all the cute coffee joints in San Diego) and I was so happy to stumble across this place- it will definitely be my go-to! Awesome sandwiches and great prices. Cuban sandwich was great - pork was so flavorful. Had it with the black bean soup - also great but a bit salty. Daughter who is vegetarian had the Caprese. They are focused on the community needs of others and have really great food. I have met some very fine people there. Dudley is the best of the best when it comes to his compassion for the customers and his mellow mannerism.........the volunteers, Anthony & Ronald are cool are also very good to do their best to make sure their customers are taken care of.
