Gosh I've eaten so many times and it's my first review. It's the main restaurant at the Hyatt Chesapeake Resort. If you enjoy buffets, this is the place to dine. Breakfast buffet is your standard fare but they do have smoked salmon with all of the fixings. Nice display of pastries and bacon and sausage. Potatoes rotate daily. They have an egg station to order eggs and omelettes (miss how it used to been / waitress provided a sheet for you to check which eggs you liked instead of waiting in line). For Globalists, the buffet is complimentary. Dinners here also have a buffet and it is $39 per person. Very pleased with their offerings. Last night they had raw oysters, peel n eat shrimp, and prime rib. Yum. So much better then their Blue Point Provisioning restaurant ($59 per person). Make sure to make reservations on Hyatt website! They finally renovated this place. It was much needed with new carpets and furnishings. read more

The food was not good. The buffet selection was vast but everything was either stale or bland. However I order pancakes from the menu and those were fresh, fluffy, and flavorful! The coffee was bland. Service was great! Big place but you might have to wait a while for a table. Not worth another shot in my book. read more

Most expensive bland wedding food I've ever had. If you are going to charge upwards of $40 an entree you'd better provide a TON more flavor and creativity. The menu is anemic at best. Clam chowder was basically unseasoned crab floating in cream. I paid an extra $12 for "Oscar style" crab/Bernaise sauce on the steak only to be given a bland lumpy expensive mess. Such a shame such awful food is paired with a nice resort. If you stay at the Hyatt, make sure to eat in town where the food is magnitudes better and fractions of the cost of this place. Only reason I didn't give 1 star was because the server was nice and attentive. He didn't design the menu after all. read more

Water's Edge Grill is part of the Hyatt Golf Resort. We had the buffet for breakfast and dinner. We ordered breakfast from the menu as well. No complaints everything was great! I am not a big buffet person because I can't eat as much as I want...big eyes small belly. The photos are from the menu. I really enjoyed my order from the breakfast menu and was more fitting to my appetite. Service was great! You will be amazed at the service. They ask you about your stay, how was the food...very welcoming and is sure to take care of you. The restaurant is like an upscale restaurant with a choice of buffet. Bottom Line: Great for a special occasion breakfast. My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt in Cambridge and decided to try the hotel's main restaurant for breakfast. The breakfast buffet has everything on it I could ever want and then some - waffles, omelettes, lox, donuts, etc. I would not want to eat like this everyday but on the special occasion of our wedding anniversary it was perfect. We arrived when the restaurant first opened and it was very quiet and peaceful. We had a nice view of the river and there were only a few other parties in the restaurant. Whereas I feel like this hotel is often overrun by poorly behaved kids, the 7am breakfast experience was delightful and relaxing. I really like the decor of this restaurant with its antique library inspired furniture (at least that is what I would call it), huge windows and soaring ceilings. But I suspect it would be loud in here during a busy dinner service because of the finishes and volume. One of my favorite parts about our Sunday morning breakfast was the charismatic cook. I was marveling at the sundae-like toppings for the waffles and she joyfully tells me, "Ohhh, honey, this is the Eastern Shore, we do it right." I had the grilled seafood platter at $42 and it was pretty skimpy - 1/2 of a small lobster tail, maybe 3 scallops, the piece of rockfish was literally one mouthful, the mashed potatoes was one small, boiled potato that someone simply flattened out. However, we opted for the dinner buffet (didn't know that was an option) and while the prime rib was quite good (and I'm not often a fan of prime rib), the other food left a lot to be desired. Wow, I wasn't expecting to dine at such a nice and delish spot while on my weekend getaway inside our resort, but I did! Located inside the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf and Resort, Water's Edge Grill gives you the feel of an expensive and fancy restaurant, but the food is actually top-notch. I'm not used to hotel food tasting so good. The service we received was hands down some of the best I've received in a restaurant in a while. The menu had a nice selection of options and the chef was very accommodating with allergies and switching out food listed on the menu. The night we went, the enclosed glass portion was closed for a wedding reception, so it was a bit loud, but for some reason, the crackling fireplace near us seemed to drown out the noise a bit. We also ordered a few cocktails and they too, were just as delicious as our food. Nothing like having the confidence of leaving your hotel room and going within the hotel to have a delicious meal. The breakfast buffet is decent but the entrees are better. The crab cake Benedict is awesome- so much so I had them 3 mornings in a row! To be honest that's what earned them 5stars they are probably around a 4. I have had the shrimp and grits on a previous trip and they were excellent as well. The Belgian waffles aren't as fluffy as some places but my diaghter loved them. I ask for some old bay to spice it up. Pancakes were good as well. The corn beef hash was plain and I would not have recommended it. Omelette s are really thick but cooked well not runny. Staff are friendly and we're happy to accommodate our sons request for grilled cheese since he doesn't really like breakfast food. We love the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort and this is the perfect way to start each day. read more

We had a fabulous dinner last night at the Water's Edge Grill. I took a girlfriend to stay at the Hyatt overnight for her birthday getaway. We enjoyed walking around the property and the indoor pool. While my friend was still swimming, I called to make a late dinner reservation for 8 pm. We were given a beautiful table for two by the window, looking out at the patio and the big outdoor fireplace. Our server was named Kate, and she was awesome--so friendly and helpful. I had a glass of wine to start off. The bread they brought out was delicious. My friend enjoyed the steak salad. I ordered the Chesapeake Mac and Cheese, which was a splurge for me, but it was really delicious. The restaurant was relatively quiet on a Sunday night, so we really felt like it was a special time. Last year, when I was at the hotel, I think this restaurant was doing pick up/carryout only. I am so glad to see them back in the swing again, and doing it all so well. Kudos to the team. read more

Came to the resort for a Pre-Birthay celebration and decided to eat at the resort restaurant since there's not many upscale restaurants near by. The price point says fine dining, but without the table cloths candle light and extras. We ordered the Ribeye, Grilled Salmon, Mashed Potatoes, Macaroni and Cheese and Asparagus. The food was well seasoned and the portions were a good size for the price point. We went about a hour before closing and the restaurant was pretty empty. We asked about seating to see the fireplace that's outside, but was lead to a booth that sat outside of the open kitchen area. I would've liked the lights to be lowered and/or candle light. to provide a more cozy vibe. Overall nice, I would go again. read more

Service is slow period. One of the worst hotel breakfast buffets I've experienced and pair that with a $25 cost for regular patrons, it's terrible. Ours were free since we are globalists, but I would steer clear of the buffets. French toast looked good coming out, but upon bringing it back to our table, it was like rock hard and dry. Coffee was decent for hotel coffee. There is a Starbucks on premise upstairs if it isn't to your liking. We tried on 2 other separate occasions for regular breakfast ordering from a menu and the food was significantly better. Breakfast croissant was perfectly toasted. Home fries were well seasoned. Waffles, nothing special. Buttermilk pancakes were really good - it came with slices of banana, strawberries and berry compote. We also had the pleasure of being served by Sandra twice and she was the most attentive, sweet and pleasant waitress that we've had! Was originally going to give 1 star, but the other 2 experiences made up for it somewhat. Would only come back to order from a menu and only for convenience since we were staying in the hotel, otherwise, there are plenty of great options that aren't too far of a drive away. read more

One of several restaurants inside the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Resort, this one is located in the main building. It's really their main restaurant - Michener's Library is more of a lounge place than restaurant. The dining room is really nice. High ceilings and great views. We ate breakfast and dinner there and I left as a very satisfied customer both times. For breakfast, I saw so many people ordering their breakfast buffet, but I wasn't in the mood to stuff my face, so I ordered the crab cake benedict. Priced at $14 this had two good crab cakes. It was tasty and hit the spot. The breakfast buffet is $20, and it did have an omelette station and some good choices in the buffet. If your starving, then it's a good choice. For dinner, if you are looking for something more casual, I would go to Michener's Library or the pool bar. But if you're looking for a more upscale dining option, Water's Edge fits the bill. So when in doubt, I always get the steak. The NY Strip was cooked as requested - a perfect medium-rare and had great seasoning. A big plus was the black garlic herb butter steak sauce. It complemented the steak very well. So, why not five stars? The service was at times very painful and slow. I had to flag the manager couple of times to get some service. read more

I was delighted with the crab macaroni and cheese It was nice and creamy with delicious crab meat and shrimp to enhance it. YUMMM! There's a wide variety of Sandwiches and Burgers if that's your taste.  They're also very very good.  There are several Salads to choose from as well from the menu.  My Caesar today was delicious. Service is always on point at Water's Edge.  So friendly, courteous, fast, and thorough with your order, you'll never be disappointed.  Hasan, our Server today, was excellent.  So friendly, so nice, and very attentive to our needs. My now, fiancee and I went for a 4 day stay at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake (marriage proposal) :-) Had reservations for the last night there. Went at 8pm on Wednesday (not too quiet, not too busy). Hostess was great in making us feel welcomed. The dinner we had was excellent (Birkshire Pork Chop and the Salmon). Want to especially give a shout out and very big thank you to our waiter Karnika. Throughout our dinner, Karnika was amazing in attitude/professionalism and kindness. Thank you to everyone at Water's Edge Grill. Stacey (the manger) keep up the great work you guys are amazing!! Hoped to have a great dining experience on Christmas Eve. However, it was terrible from the moment we walked in. It took forever to get seated despite having a reservation and arriving 10 minutes after it opened. After being seated, it took forever for the waitress to come to the table. She apologized, stating that her manager had all the servers in a meeting. We ordered and it took forever. Several people who were seated after us received their food first. The kitchen or the waitress obviously lost or forgot our order but never bothered to acknowledge or apologize for it. At one point the waitress said it would be another 6 minutes which turned out to be 20 minutes. Overall, it took one hour to get our food. When the food came, it was terrible. I ordered the steak tips and it was a plate full of fat. The crab soup was over salted, and the bread was stale. My husband had Caesar salad with chicken that looked a day old. My daughter ordered that salmon, also terrible, and my son had the filet mignon which was fair. It was obvious the other guests were having a similarly bad experience because frustration in the restaurant was palpable. $200 later with no alcohol, we left. We passed a large group of people waiting near the hostess stand with the hostess no where in sight. One person asked me if it was worth it and I loudly said no, find somewhere else to go if you want a decent meal and decent service. I used to own a restaurant and know that all restaurants have bad nights, so I try to be understanding. However, there is no excuse for a restaurant, especially one in the Hyatt Chesapeake (which was listed in Condé Nast Traveler's list of top resorts in Maryland) failed so miserably on Christmas Eve. read more

Over 40 min to have Caesar with "grilled" shrimp (more like sautéed but not much flavor), calamari (average), caprese salad and mussels. My daughter also had The buffet which was so unappetizing because there were so many flies. When our food came we were also swatting away many flies that were landing on our food. Our server was friendly but not very attentive. Perhaps the restaurant is used to a captive hotel clientele. I would definitely not recommend anyone coming at least not for dinner service. After reading the reviews, I was nervous to go here as it seems the consensus is bad service but good food. They were offering their buffet the night we were there, so we figured how badly could the service affect us? All I can say is I'm glad we didn't have to rely on the staff that night. At the door, nobody was at the check in stand (it was around 8) and nobody was too interested in coming to help us. When someone eventually came to talk to the crowd that was standing there by that point, they weren't very friendly and took people out of order. Once we were seated, we saw our waitress maybe 2-3 times, and she was clearly stressed and running around overwhelmed. Thankfully with the buffet, the only thing that affected was drink refills. The bus boy was super nice. The food itself though was great! The dinner buffet was $32 and the breakfast buffet they offer is either $22 for full buffet or $15 for continental breakfast. They offer a lot at the buffet - among some of our favorite things were the tomato bisque, crab dip, grilled salmon, roasted potatoes, and a delicious bacon ranch dip they put next to the pretzel bread. They also had a huge oyster bar if you like that, and prime rib that frankly I thought wasn't too great. They also had a great desert table! For $32 it was really the only way to go unless you were only planning on eating a salad or soup (everything else was expensive anyway, might as well do the buffet). The next morning was a totally different experience. Our server was the same as the night before and super super nice, very available (we were one of the only tables) and she went out of her way to do everything she could to make sure we were satisfied. Truly fantastic service! The breakfast was also very good even though I picked the continental. I was still stuffed from the night before, but they had a great selection of food (bread, muffins, bagels, pastries, oatmeal, lots of cheese and fruits, and even an actual honeycomb that you could cut pieces off of). All in all, great food, and when it's not busy great service. Even when busy, if you go with the buffet you should be fine! read more

I took my girlfriend here in hopes to share a great meal. The buffet was Mediterranean and mediocre. The food was not hot and had clearly been sitting out a while. The raw bar was great with fresh oysters and shrimp. This was especially disappointing since the buffet was $38. My girlfriend ordered a Caesar salad and crab cakes which were both APPETIZERS. They came out over an hour after ordering and after we talked to the manager. Otherwise who knows how long it would've been. The restaurant was by no means packed with business and those around us experienced the same frustrations, even a few walking out. The service was ok. Our servers name was Julian. I love Water's Edge Grill, the only 3 meal restaurant in the hotel - Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay. They have a nice selection of American breakfast. I always go for the buffet ($17) that includes two drinks (coffee & orange juice, for me) and the omelets from the omelet station. The servers are all very helpful. Many of them look like they are college students from overseas (Macedonia, Mongolia, Poland, etc...) visiting the U.S. just for the summer on a special program that enables them to work. They are all hard working, friendly and nice. You feel as if you came to a different country, kind of. Anyway, my favorites here are the fresh fruits, oatmeal, bacon, sausage, omelet, very tasty fresh OJ, coffee, and the very high ceiling. read more

Not Good! Not good at alll. We came on an off season 1-31-20 Friday night 7:30 Waited till 7:53 till we finally found a bus girl to get water and had her find the waitress! Finally a short wait we could finAlly order. We started with a cheese board and shrimp and crab appetizer. Cheeseboard was OK nowhere near great just OK. The shrimp were fine small but fun but the crab meat we took one bite and had a mouth full of shells took a second bite had a mouth full of shells set it aside only for the waitress to come pick it up and take it away without asking if there was anything wrong. "Let that go" crab bisque can't say it was the worst but water down milk with crab in it and don't forget the shells! Then we had a wedge salad which all in all was made properly it was just that it was room temperature I've never had a wedge salad room temperature usually there are ice cold! Onto the filet I never had a filet that actually taste spongy yes spongy don't ask because I dont know what they did to it! I would not come here i am not a complainer and I even paid for the trash I got. But please don't do it leave the resort and eat a some real food!!!! read more
