This was my 2nd Burger stop for Gwinnett Burger Week 2026 and it was OUTSTANDING! The Georgia Summer Burger has pimento cheese, grilled onions, pickles, jalapeños and their signature sauce plus a beef patty. This flavor profile was so good! It is actually the first Burger on their menu for $13.99 served with the BEST FRIES along with a cup of gravy to do them in...delicious. Then there was a $1.99 discount so $12 but included the fries! We used to love this place but sadly it has gone way downhill. Our last three visits have all been horrible and I think we are finally done giving them more opportunities to make it right. Service is so slow!! It took a while to get seated & even longer to get drinks. They do not have enough staff. It took us 35 minutes to get a drink last night, and the bartender kept looking at notes like she wasn't sure how to make the drinks, the drink was $11 very small, and not great. Whoever they had for bartender years ago was much better than she was, and then kept stopping to talk to people who were walking up to the bar. The fries came out cold. The slider burgers were good. It's a shame that service has gotten so bad. They also add an 18% gratuity tip without even telling you. They definitely embrace the over the top part lol. I got the footlong hot dog and it is huge and delicious. The shakes look outrageous. I didn't get one but they are enormous. We had a pretty disappointing experience here overall. One of the dishes with fried eggs had a very off taste--like old oil or an unclean pan. I stopped after one bite because it didn't feel right. Unfortunately, my husband ate more and ended up vomiting about 24 hours later. While we can't say for certain it was the cause, the food quality was concerning. The service didn't help either. I waited quite a while for my milkshake, and it was frustrating to see the waitress taking more drink orders instead of making it. When it finally came, it wasn't nearly as good as the milkshakes I've had here before. The quality seems inconsistent now, and it feels like less care is being put into the food and drinks. The burger menu is creative and they offer an impossible burger as a vegetarian option. The milkshakes are the co-stars at Over The Top. Check out the pictures and you'll get a good idea of the lineup. These are huge and a lot of fun! They have a full bar and a great draft list. The restaurant could use a bit of a makeover. It took over the space from a previous sports bar, and still has more of a bar vibe then a restaurant, with a lot of empty space. We had two burgers, shared an appetizer and a shake, and two beers and with tip, left about $100 lighter . Really delicious burgers that are large sized and full of flavor. Buford Blue and the Unoriginal are go to favs. The milkshakes are also massive and decadent. The service is lacking. My wife and I were there on an empty Tuesday night. It was just us and one other couple. Our waiter greeted us with a mumble and a 1000 yard stare. We started by ordering our drinks and a starter . Simple enough. Took the drinks about 15 minutes. We ordered our dinner. About another 40 minutes the food came with the starter we ordered nearly hour ago. The waiter never checked in on us for a refill or to see how things were. We eat out a lot and we're always forgiving, pleasant with staff, and tip well. This case, I was already planning on not being so generous with tipping. Lo and behold, the waiter automatically added a 18% tip to our bill! Explains the crummy service. Guy didn't care how he treated his customers because he's going to auto tip himself 18%!!!! Grabbed a quick lunch at Over the Top Burger. Restaurant is dimly lit and nicely decorated for the season. Menu did not have a huge selection but not sure if it's because I was there for lunch. Service was quick as I was the only one there. I had the beach body salad which was drenched in dressing. I would consider the salad a 'half' salad since it wasn't that big. Unfortunately, it was one thing after another to cause this experience to be super unpleasant because my over sensitive and very strong willed so when he doesn't get his way or things don't go as planned it's just disappointing. I proceeded to order an unsweet tea and specifically asked if they had sweet n low and she says yes. She brings the tea out and says I'm sorry we don't have any sweet n low, so I ask about Splenda or Stevia and she said no we don't have anything but sugar. I said well since you brought the tea already I guess I'll take a few packets of sugar. She brings it in a little sauce cup like I guess dipped straight from the sugar bag. Not very prepared for a Friday evening dinner crowd. Well literally as I'm trying to understand the first thing they were out of, she was the one behind the bar making the shake and it appears she's half way done as my son patiently waited because she had said it would be a little longer for it. We'll just as we look up she's apologizing and saying they have no strawberries and would he be interested in a Cookie Monster instead. He asked for some gummy bears in it as last time they had a dirt shake that was chocolate cake with gummy, you know kids never forget anything but unfortunately she says no they didn't have any. She delivers the less than appealing shake and was in a hurry as she had other tables and the restaurant is full and when she placed it on the table half the topping all fell off. Son had a major meltdown of disappointment. I politely told him we will get you more whipped topping and it will be fine. Please be understanding and it will be okay. Got him settled then the food came and I asked to switch to a Dr Pepper because I just couldn't get the tea taste well. She comes back and informs me they don't have any Dr Pepper they were also out of it. Got me a water and lucky wasn't charged for the tea. Son's chicken was super hot and she didn't warn him/me/us and he took a bite and screamed because it was so hot. Got the small popcorn chicken cut which didn't feel so hot on outside so I can see he wasn't prepared that it would be so hot. He didn't want the pancake syrup or powdered sugar and asked for barbecue sauce but said their sauce was awful and now he's ready to run out the door because he doesn't want to eat here but the guy at the pool table gave him a conversation and let him try to shoot the pool stick so he was now happy. Kids can adapt or collapse but it's definitely helpful if things go more smoothly to help cut down on the meltdowns for children with big emotions. To me this is a place that is about an experience and kids like the shakes and the food so it really needs to be a better and happier experience. I tried it out because I am in a mom's group and heard it was under new ownership so we wanted to see if it had improved since the last time when we came in over Christmas when it was supposed to have a pop up Christmas theme but again they had not set it up as it had been advertised so we left. I think we'll wait a few months to let some others come try it out and see if the experience improves because it's so close to where we live and many things we do in Buford but hoping for a fun experience not a disappointment. read more

After waiting 40 minutes for them to prepare the food (just burgers), we were told there were no French fries. An additional 15 minutes go by and they return with wilted lettuce for a salad. My wife and I went for their christmas pop up. Really strange experience. Place has a weird, uncomfortable vibe. Its a large room with very few tables, lots of empty space. Each table was being used but the room felt empty. I thought they'd have christmas music or something, but it was quiet. I thought this place was pretty great! I loved how they were able to create something tasty and cool with a meal you can get literally everywhere. Inside is like a bar, you do have the option to sit outside as well. The waitress we had was incredibly nice. My husband got the Hangover burger and he said it had to be one of the best breakfast burgers he's ever had. You get two waffles as your buns, the burger, fried egg, candied bacon, hash brown, syrup, and powdered sugar. I think what makes this one different is the waffle and powdered sugar. I do have to say, they should probably handout wipes with this burger just because the maple syrup is drizzled on the outside of the burger. His hands got pretty sticky and couldn't touch anything. I got the Impossible Burger and it was so delicious. I'm not a vegetarian but I love that they have that option and it was tasty! It had the patty, avocado, pickles, lemon aioli, and feta. I've been under the weather for a minute and haven't been going out that much. However, the family has given me the side eye for a couple of weeks, so I had to get them out of the house. My mini-me told me about this place. So in the same fashion and tradition, my mom had with me. My daughter and I try to go out once a month to a place we've never patronized. The establishment doesn't look like much from the outside, but by the number of cars in the parking lot, I can honestly say this place did not need any fancy pomp and circumstance to gain attention. When we entered, we were greeted immediately and shown to our seats. We asked to sit towards the rear of the burger bar because they had live music. We were seated in George's section. We told him it was our first visit, and he was just as new as we were. He only had twelve days in, as he advised that it was his thirteenth day on the job. That being said, other than him telling us, we would have never known he was new to the job. I'm a big fan of customer service, and because this was our first time, we had a lot of questions. George was very patient even with us asking about most of the menu. At the end of it all, we ordered the "Buford Blue," "Pop Cone Chicken," "Unoriginal Burger," and my favorite, "Georgia Summer." My entire party enjoyed their meals, but ain't no way their burger was as SCRUMPTIOUS as mine was.... GOOD LAWD! I had the Georgia Summer... It's two patties with peach-jalapeno chutney, grilled onions, pickles, onion, and sig sauce. LAWD... word of advice. Save a piece of your bun to sop up that sauce at the end! YEAP, it's worth it! For my first time, this place was vibrant and family-oriented, and most importantly, the staff and patrons were extremely friendly--my kind of place. Since I am working on my dad bod, I didn't partake in any adult beverages, but sheesh, the number of taps and drinks available will make you so indecisive that it may take you the entire evening to select your drink. We've been going here for the past few years but haven't been in over a year. This was the first time we had a poor experience. We were seated right away with menus and our waitress, Lila, greeted us immediately. We got our drinks fast but didn't have enough time to look over the menu, as it has changed, so we asked for a few more minutes. She took a very long time to come back. The restaurant wasn't full and we tried multiple times to get her attention. The food was delicious, no complaints, but did take equally as long to come out. When it did come out, we realized we had no silverware and were missing condiments we had requested. We tried multiple times to flag Lila down again before getting silverware. She brought over silverware but not the condiments. After a while, she came back and we asked for a third time for the condiments and asked for refills on drinks. She brought the condiments but not the drinks. At this point, we gave up on flagging her down and just finished our food so we could leave. When Lila came over to close us out, she offered us to-go drinks, which we accepted. She brought them out but without lids, read our tab off to us, and had us pay. Other note to mention, the restrooms were extremely messy. We came around 6:30pm on a Saturday but the restaurant was not full nor turnover happening quickly enough to justify such a mess (or lack of service). The men's restrooms had no soap, but the women's restrooms were trashed. Lila had mentioned there is a new owner and I'm not sure if that's where the changes in staffing and cleanliness have changed but we were very disappointed to see such a big change in everything. My Bob's Your Uncle burger was pretty meh, and I was served regular frozen shoestring fries. When I asked about it the server said they had been sent the shoestrings that week instead of the battered ones. Well, okay. The hubs had the Georgia Summer burger which was better than the one I had, but still not outstanding. Oh, and one strange thing: the water they served tasted like it had disinfectant in it. But nooo, Only if you want to pay an extra six dollars on top of the already ungodly expensive $16-$18 burger to begin with. Yes, you heard me right $24 for a vegetarian impossible burger. The same hamburger you can get at Burger King for six bucks. The same impossible burger you can go over to Costco and buy a pack of them . The owners wife tried gaslighting me by telling me that the reason for the huge up charge was because the ingredients for the impossible burger were more expensive. I'm sorry folks, but an impossible burger is an impossible burger, no matter where you get it from. They buy these frozen they're not making them. You can also get any hamburger made with mushroom caps at an extra five dollars, bison for eight dollars more, chicken , five dollars more and turkey five dollars more. So if you want any one of those kind of meats you will be paying around $24 for your burger they do not sub they just charge you more. Huge, huge rip off. I spoke to the owners wife, she really could care less, and explain to her. I have never heard of anyone charging an extra six dollars on top of the already high price to get a vegetarian burger. I said if you're going to charge me an extra six dollars for that impossible burger meat then I want the original hamburger patty that I should've got to begin with , Or I would like my six dollars back. So just to be petty she decided that she was going to give me the hamburger patty , instead of my six dollars. Now I know why ,when I saw the hamburger patty it was a complete joke , it was about $.75 cents worth of meat. The kids burger at McDonald's has more meat than this sad little Patty and this is what they are charging you $16-$18 for. She knew that it was better for her to give me the $.75 cents worth of hamburger meat then to give me my six dollars back. She just lost all our business over six bucks. I had a chicken sandwich that had the most salty ham on it, and a slab of extremely hard pineapple, which I had to take off because I just couldn't eat it. There was so much secret sauce thrown onto the sandwich that the bun became impossible to eat, and I never did taste the chicken in the sandwich again , pounded out extremely small piece of sliver of chicken . The same with the other hamburger that was ordered at the table way too much sauce thrown on it and the impossible burger the same thing , way too much sauce. Everyone at the table thought the fries were OK, I thought they were just OK. We also got two milkshakes. They are glorious to look at, but in all truthfulness, Burger, 21 has much better milkshakes at half the price. These milkshakes are about 12 bucks or more apiece. I wouldn't say they are fabulous tasting, but they are fabulous to look at. Again cheap ingredients. Just a lot of whip cream ,not a lot of milkshake. I had two of the cocktails off the special menu because it was a pop-up bar. Again they looked cool one was supposed to have strawberry purée which it did not. It just had a strawberry stuck in it with a bunch of Sierra mist, and some alcohol the second one, well, let's just say that was a waste of 10 bucks. When you can go to Ruth's Chris steak House and get a prime steak burger for $16 , Or Burger 21 and get a choice of wonderful burgers without the up charge, why would anyone go here? There's a million bars in this town folks. This place is just not worth it. Will I be back? Absolutely not! We ALL are done! Now I know why they are called over the top.
