Over Easy Kitchen (OEK) is my all-time favorite breakfast spot! I enjoy breakfast there almost every Saturday, no other breakfast spot even comes close. I have visited each of their locations (Holmdel Marlboro, Fair Haven) and each is very nicely decorated with a great vibe. Service is always great. I absolutely appreciate this place for many reasons: the menu, the decor and the location. The menu is pretty straight forward, eggs, healthy eating options and their own amazing take on things such as the Ada Meech, a chicken cutlet sandwich paired with a delicious green salad and topped with cheese and balsamic dressing. They make one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches paired with a well done tomato soup! They make very good steak, eggs can be ordered and prepared in the popular styles one could expect and they do have seasonal items they offer. This place is very kid friendly and they even have a cute rooster shaped menu just for the young kids. I would recommend possibly added a Mac n cheese on it, but they do offer good options that most kids would want to order. The decor is a nice coffee shop meets a cute decor style and so this place makes me feel like I'm back in the city or not near the shore ( which is a nice touch, given that many local restaurants do play up the coastal theme). I also really love that they have a large coffee bar, which has its own seasonal menu and tastes wonderful! I have had their matcha and caramel drink off the fall menu. read more

Service is not good. Our assigned seat was wet; we asked two servers to wipe the seat, they both said ok but neither did it. After 3rd request a server gave us a few paper napkins suggesting that we wipe the seat ourself! Food was OK but overpriced, and we had to wait a long time for it (over 22 minutes), and coffee's price ($4.25 a cup) is outrageous. We won't be back. read more

I've been to the one in Marlboro and liked it and decided to give the Holmdel location a try. The restaurant is large and primarily follows a light gray color scheme. There are booths lining the sides and center of the place. There is also counter seating near the front, with two flat screen TVs hanging above the counter. The word "hello" is written in large pink cursive on the ceiling above the counter and it's easily missed if you don't look up. A large fake tree with large pink flowers stands in the middle of the restaurant while fake vines snake up and down the back wall. There is also large framed painting of a pineapple hanging near the emergency exit, but this pales in comparison to the tree! There are tables for outdoor dining but we opted to sit inside. Upon entering, almost every table was filled but we managed to get seated indoors. Daughter ordered Fancy burrata, which has two poached eggs, burrata cheese, arugula, avocado, tomatoes, red onions, balsamic, grilled sourdough bread with pesto aioli. She asked the server if there was pine nuts in the pesto and was told there was but she can order it without the pesto. She thought it was delicious and said it was the perfect amount served because she was able to finish the entire order. There were lots of greens, which was a plus. Next, Hubs ordered Mediterranean omelette, which has onions, tomatoes, spinach, feta, "prassini" side salad and country toast. The toast turned out to be 2.5 pieces of bagel chips because one of them looked like a bite was taken out of it. He thought the omelette was overcooked and was disappointed. It wasn't soft and tasted hard. Our waitress was barely around and we couldn't find her to get a coffee refill. We had to flag down a busser to get a refill. The strange thing about this place is that there isn't anyone walking around with a coffee pot. We saw coffee being brewed but no refills were served. Maybe they're trying to save money that way. I thought coffee was expensive. Daughter ordered a cold brew. It was $6 for a cold brew. I was going to ask the waitress if there's a free refill. Again, couldn't find her. Maybe that's why the server was hard to find. So we don't ask questions. I don't understand why it was so hard to find her considering the place was just one large room and you can see the entire place. She must've disappeared every now and then. All the servers were hanging by the coffee pots chatting but our server. Lastly, I ordered lemon ricotta pancakes, which comes with a dollop of their mixed berry compote, blueberries, their house-made whipped cream and powdered sugar on top. I thought it tasted a bit dry, kind of tasted like cornmeal was used. I could've used some syrup, but never got a chance to ask for it because we never saw the waitress. But, we saw a couple next to us who had a side of syrup with her order. I was disappointed with the cornmeal in the pancake because it wasn't stated on the menu. Had I known it was going to be cornmeal, I wouldn't have ordered it. I was expecting my pancake to be floury and fluffy, not cornmeal and dense. Also, the house-made whipped cream tasted like there was a lot of butter in it. I got grossed out when I saw this diner next to me put his dollop of whipped cream in his mouth. The next time we saw the waitress was when we were able to flag her down for a check. One thing to note is that they have a customer service charge on their bill. If you pay in cash, the customer service charge can be deducted. So, I'm guessing there's a credit card charge. I was happy to get a chance to try this place but I don't think we'll be returning. My boyfriend and I came here on a freezing Sunday in January around 12 pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant was lively, had upbeat music playing, and was full of people enjoying themselves - it wasn't overly loud, but this isn't the place if you're looking for quiet conversation. The service was fine, especially for how busy it was, but THE FOOD was incredible. I had the gluten free pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and cheese. The food here never misses. I have come countless times with friends and they always enjoy there meal. The menus do change and I love that. I always have something new to try. Eh, I thought Over Easy Kitchen was just okay. For me, nothing was over the top. Though I have to say, the service at this location is excellent! Our party of 5 originally went to the Marlboro location but there was a wait of about 40 minutes so we decided to come to the Holmdel location and we were so glad we did! (The Holmdel location is a lot more friendly.) Around the table, there were Nutella pancakes, lattes, eggs, home fries, toast, classic pancakes, steak, bacon, fresh OJ and some others. My guests and I enjoyed our breakfast for the most part but there were def some areas that needed improvement. For one, the Nutella pancakes should've been better. For a savory taste, one cannot just put Nutella on top of the pancakes but cook the Nutella into the pancake batter for a more savory taste. Went for breakfast on a lazy hot Friday morning. We were greeted right away and given the option of indoors or outside. Inside is what we chose. For her, a healthy cold chia bowl. They do have a fairly significant about of vegan options on the breakfast menu. On my end, chose the lemon ricotta pancakes. I did peek at a few reviews beforehand that mentioned not being all that sweet. And they weren't thankfully. So very good. Gotta mention that they have two other locations in New Jersey. That being Marlboro & Fair Haven. Service was excellent. By the way, when settling up our bill at the register if they still have wedges of crumb cakes get them. I had Over Easy takeout for breakfast and enjoyed their food. The menu has something for everyone, including classic breakfast items with fun twists, and even lunch items like burgers, sandwiches and salads. I also love the amount of avocado they use, and there are so many fresh food options if you are trying to be healthy. They also have vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options! My husband had the BYO omelette with broccoli and cheddar and enjoyed it. I had the veggie stack (a vegan dish) and it was really yummy and loved the sauce! The hash browns were also flavorful with onion and bell peppers mixed throughout. I do think the food and experience would be way better in person, but I am very happy they have takeout during COVID times. Great brunch with my mom, menu was the same as Marlboro. Decor and artwork inside the restaurant is distinctive of street art meets bohemian kitchen. Over Easy is our go-to "fancy brunch" place. It serves a few diner staples but steps up some dishes with Latin flavors from time to time. The pancakes are great, and the specials are usually fantastic. Very few places offer the quality of food at brunch that OEK does. Best of all, you always see the same staff. Frank, the owner, seems to treat his staff incredibly well. The only reason a star comes off is for price and the coffees. Coffees across the way at Turning Point are better, but the food here is far better than Turning Point. The other reason is price... if everything was $2 less, we'd be there far more often. That said, when we have a few spare dollars or want an incredible start to the morning, OEK is our go to. read more

Had brunch with a small group of family and friends at Over Easy, noon on a Saturday, approx. 15 minute wait time. We were seated inside, which still feels novel after so many months of lockdown, but was actually, dare I say, normal. BYO booze: our selection, a bottle of prosecco, which we combined with a carafe of OJ ($12) to make our own mimosas. The menu covers all the normal brunch options, from sweet pancakes to savory breakfast sandwiches. The lunchier options include a number of awesome-sounding sandwiches; I was tempted by the BLT club, which looks great in the photos I've seen. Ultimately I went for the basic option of scrambled eggs with country ham, home fries, and rye toast. I was happy with what I received, though nothing particularly blew me away. Most of the menu options are pretty middle-of-the-road, so just get whatever sounds good to you. Over Easy is a traditional brunch spot and they know what they're doing. Ironically, the advice I got before going here was "get things other than eggs." Which, to a degree, was helpful. We came here for a late morning breakfast. My companion got the Italian "Pork Roll" & Cheese, an adorable breakfast sandwich with sliced prosciutto, scrambled eggs, and mozzarella. As for me, the Lemon Ricotta waffles, which had the special of adding some frozen açaí purée and berries on top. This place is my number one pick for a dog friendly to get some delicious food. The staff is so friendly. The food is absolutely amazing if you are choosing breakfast or lunch. Today we had brunch here and it was simply the best! Our server was Tara who was phenomenal, we let her know that today, we were branching and not in a rush! She did not rush us at all and everything came out at a perfect time all while her checking in with us the perfect amount. First, I've been to both locations now and this place is adorable! Has a whimsy with the tree in the center of the restaurant and the decor was tasteful and rustic. We brought champagne for mimosas which they happily supplied the orange juice We scanned the menu and was so hard to make a decision because everything sounded amazing and the plate presentation of all the dishes going to tables around us was eye catching. We decided to start with a share for the table which was the Tokoyo Pancakes from the special menu. This came out beautifully and the taste was well balanced! Next I had the special menu the steak with tostones. This place does not skip the details of presentation, my dish was instagram ready, no filters needed. I did use portrait but that's a given. My two friends had the Benny's Benedict which was also plated beautifully and had such levels of flavor. Everything we had was perfectly cooked with balanced flavors that complimented each dish. So happy to have this spot added to the area. After living in Hoboken for four years, brunch definitely became a Saturday morning routine. Over easy brings me right back. Everything I've ever had (and everyone I've been with has had) was delicious! The fancy burrata is my all-time favorite. The mix of the poached eggs, arugula, EVOO and burrata is such a good mix. I had the steak sandwich last time which came highly recommended by our server and he was definitely spot on. The steak was so juicy and the bread was crispy and flavorful. My fiancé is obsessed with the steak & eggs and gets the clean plate award every time. He's not a big brunch person but he comes for the steak and eggs. It's BYOB, so if you bring champagne, they will bring you an ice bucket, mixers, and glasses. The inside is beautifully decorated. For those saying it's overpriced, I have to disagree.
