My husband and I had planned to go to a different burger place but they were closed since it was All Saints Day. Of course we were bummed but we saw where Oval had similar food and was two blocks away so we thought we would give it a try, and are we glad we did! We were greeted when we walked in and seated quickly. The menu was explained to us, how to check off what we wanted as well as any customizations we wanted to make. The food was out quickly and everything was delicious! The quality of the food was amazing and it helped us to miss home a little less. I would recommend for any travelers that are craving American food or some rocking nachos! If you are not fluent in Spanish or Catalan do not worry the wait staff were able to converse easily in English. read more

Oval is delicious. Definitely a solid choice if you are in Barcelona and craving a burger. I loved that the options were really endless. You could get beef, turkey or chicken and about a million different topping combinations. I loved that they even had some unique toppings that you don't see at most burger places (at least in the States), such as pineapple, roasted red peppers, turkey bacon, peanut butter, cornichons and alfalfa sprouts.They also have nachos and different types of fries. I got a chicken burger with cheddar, grilled onions, turkey bacon, lettuce, avocado, alfalfa sprouts and garlic mayo, along with regular french fries and a pint of Moritz, the traditional beer of Barcelona. All was delicious but I really loved my burger. Really, really loved it. It was perfect and although it was loaded with toppings, it did not feel heavy at all. Nevertheless, after an early morning flight from Paris, I was ready for a nap immediately following my lunch and beer. I definitely hope to go back when I return. They also have free wifi btw, but you will have to ask them for the password. read more

This is my favorite burger place in BCN. Great food, great atmosphere. I love it. At Oval you have the possibility to make your own burger, which is pretty nice. However, I usually end up with or ordering their standard pulled-pork burger. At the picture attached you find one of the burgers I made on my own. Landed in Barcelona at 1pm, hungry and tired. Where to eat? I opened up Yelp and saw the great reviews on this burger restaurant so why not? I know Barcelona is the city of tapas and paellas, but I just wanted something simple and filling. Headed to this place and ordered a burger, which you have to decide yourself what you want in it (nice). The burger itself is just what you expect from a good burger, juicy and flavorful at the same time. One only thing that bothered me was the water, I did not know that "just water" as a drink meant being serve a water bottle at 2 euros. Lesson learned. Oval has an awesome selection of toppings which I really appreciate. I had the brioché bun and the regular beef. The bun was way too big and really dry. The beef even tasted kind of "fake" definitely not how it should taste. There's a similar place nearby called Barcoa which is kind of the same idea but a lot more delicious and even cheaper. read more

I went to Oval with my family 3 week ago and... Sorry guys, everything is fine but the BREAD that you are using... Who the hell chose it? Ok, it's cool that you can choose the tipe of cheese in a wide list, and the same with the complements... bla bla bla, but What about the bread? One of the most important things in a burger...Besides, in my opinion the price is a little bit expensive. Almost 9€ just for a burger, no fries, no accompaniment? If you want something else beside the burger you gotta pay it apart what it would'n be a problem if the bread were perfect. Pleaseeeee... change the bread... it's a pitty :( It has to be said that they have a really tasty sweet potato fries and the rations are good as well as the size of the burger. Given the options in Barca, Oval's pretty good. It's not as fun as Kiosko nor as delicious as Negro Carbón, but it's a solid offering. There's a bevy of options to accommodate all tastes and dietary preferences, allowing you to sway between a standard cheeseburger with ketchup to a peanut butter-topped monstrosity with bleu cheese and caramelized onions. It can get very busy in the evenings now-a-days and I have watched people get turned away for turning up too late. Its build-your-own, so make sure you build something that works together. The menu is easy to use and doesn't force too many added extras on you. Came here when it first opened and they only had catalan menu's. This place was amazing! This restaurant is a custom made to order burger bar. They give you a sheet and you just check and select the toppings you want. I'm vegetarian so I custom made the best veggie burger I had in a while. The fries were delicious and seasoned to perfection. The food came out relatively fast, the waitress was nice and helped my travel partner by giving her an English menu (since my Spanish was a bit rusty). The price was fair considering the portions and quality of the meal. The restaurant itself has a very cool and sleek design. I would definitely recommend this place to someone who wants to break away from the tapas and wants a good made to order burger. read more

Great concept and the burger was delicious. There is also a nice selection of craft beer on draft. I'm not sure what's the difference between the beef and the Nebraska beef. Interior is very minimalist and cool, nice atmosphere. It has adopted the same ordering style as Bacoa, a kind of ´Build Your Own Burger´sheet with a good choice of toppings, bread and sides. Because of this, I expected a similar (even slightly more upmarket) experience to Bacoa, however it really wasn´t. The wholegrain bun I ordered was a bit stale, and the seeds on top just didn´t work well with the bread. The sweet potato fries I got as a side were undercooked, with salt and something that tasted a bit like curry powder, which I thought I would have liked, but was disappointed by. I would have got over those aspects, had the chicken been a grilled breast, or even fried. However, it ended up being chicken mince, with some very bland flavoring. I ordered it with Sriacha sauce and grilled pineapple, which definitely made it more edible, but I could see a lot of white, fatty pieces in the mince, which put me off it in the end. I think if you´re going to open a restaurant in Barcelona that is as similar to the Bacoa chain as this one, you should match it in quality of ingredients, or else make it a lot cheaper. The price difference wasn´t too noticeable. read more

Overall, this is one of the better burger places in Barcelona. My Aloha burger had new creative toppings like pineapples and was very tasty. However throughout the night, we had issues getting our food on time. We ordered 7 plates of fries and only got 5. We then asked for the last 2 and only got them toward the end of the meal. My first night in barcelona, i had gotten in a bit late and was starving from my previous 10 hours of taveling. i wanted something quick and filling. My air bnb host suggested Oval to me. I have to be honest, i not a huge burger eater BUT i make exceptions. This place was awesome. it was a build your own, which was nice since there was an obvious barrier in communication, but all i had to do was mark what i wanted off on the pad they supplied. They even had a chicken burger option which was fitting for me so i tried that. you get to pick from a few toppings, like cheese, sauce and random vegetables and what not. I fixed myself a sort of tex mex chicken burger with cheddar, avocado and jalapeños. I wasn't sure what to expect when it came out... but it was HUGE and full of flavor. Also got a side of fries and nachos which was def meant for two to share. Very big portions. I tried one of the light Moritz beers they had on tap ... i wanna say it was called clara? it had a fruity taste, reminded me of a purple haze, had a slight fruity pebble flavor it it. i was great. the Waiter was a doll and was as helpful as he could be with little to no english vocabulary. First things first, the cheese fries were v good. I would go back for them again, and again. They aren't like cheese fries from a diner with plasticky cheese, but had a delicious cheese that I wish I knew the name of. The burger was good, I mean it's not the US, so it's decent. Better than McDonald's (not like that's a feat). If I were to go back I don't know if I would get a burger. Also, sweet potato fries are only available in the winter. We ordered some and they didn't come, but the waitress never told us they weren't in season until we asked where they were. That describes the service, inattentive. You can upgrade with mushrooms, avocado , fries, nachos, etc. for a few euros more. You order from a long checklist menu (in English if you want).
