We got two Luther's and a half pound town. It was all yummy. The curly fries are great, and while we didn't get onion rings this time, I wish we had. Milkshake was good as was the brownie sundae. Next time a craving for delicious burgers happens we will go back!!

They took us to "Big Al's" which they have been dining at since 2021. As we walked in I noticed how clean the restaurant was and very well laid out with good lighting with dining utensils and napkins in a container on your table. They have a full bar underneath a large red neon "Cocktail" sign to fulfill whatever your drinking preference happens to be! We ordered two pitchers of their Sangria which was spot on with its sweetness and taste. The waiter who was very friendly and very attentive to us actually suggested he bring them out one at a time to keep the Sangria cool (plus it did save on table space as well.). The Sangria was refreshing, fruity and flavorful which was what we needed after a day sunning on the beach and I must say we did get to the second pitcher rather quickly! For appetizers we ordered the Pulled Pork Nachos and our friends ordered the Three Cheese Quesadilla. The Quesadilla had the perfect amount of blended cheeses and a nice crisp toasting. The Pulled Pork Nachos were fantastic too! The barbecue pork tasted as good if not better than that we eat in the Midwest (Missouri). The melted cheese blended in so well with the Pulled Pork & slices of pickled Jalapeño. The barbecue sauce tasted superb with the right amount of sweetness and tanginess which matched the correct flavor and just a very light smoky flavor. The barbecue sauce again was so "spot on" with taste and flavor that after dining I told their management it tasted exactly what we expect if we were at an American barbecue restaurant in America! We all got Deluxe Cheeseburgers which come with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise and cheddar cheese (two of us added crisp bacon to our Cheeseburgers which took them up to a sensational delight to bite into!). The taste, flavor and juiciness of the beef was spot on with a explosion of flavor combining the crispness of the lettuce, the gentle "bite" of onion, the cheesy taste of the cheddar and the creaminess of the mayo that one would expect when biting into a perfect cooked and prepared burger! (And for those who added the bacon...Wow!!! Again, the crispy flavorful taste and texture of the bacon took their burgers to the next level!) We do plan on returning before we head back home to have another meal at Big Al's and that trip we plan on getting their Onion Rings which looked amazing! Highly recommend you give them a try!

This place is attractive with a long line, guaranteed fresh beef, and homemade sauces. You also bubble in what burger you want, type of sauces & extras, and the type of potato sides you'd like. We waited about 45 min in total from end of line to getting our food. Not worth the wait.. The burger itself was good, pink tinged inside and charred on the outside. The classic white bun is too thick in my opinion, too much bun to meat ratio. The French fries were mediocre, too well done and not fluffy enough. Note to self: do not try a burger spot just out of curiosity- better to stick with the food specialty of the country.

I wanted a good old fashioned burger and this place is THE PLACE to get it in España! Bacoa was everything I ever wanted and needed in a burger at this time in my life. We went to the location on Ferran, which is close by La Rambla. If it's your first time there, you fill out a piece of paper to place your ordered. You check what kind of meat, bread, sauce, sides, fries or extra sauce you want. I ordered the classic burger with bacon, caramelized onions and their truffle sauce with a side of skinny fries. Absolutely delicious!! This burger reminded me of Super Duper burger in San Francisco and that's saying something because I hold that place in high regard! The meat was cooked to medium rare perfection and tasty - meaning it was seasoned well. The caramelized onions added the right amount of sweetness and the bacon was bacon, lol. I can't get over the truffle sauce and how well it paired with the burger as a whole. I feel like the sauce helped to elevate the burger into amazingness. The fries were hot and crispy when they came out and not over salted. And it doesn't hurt that most of it is organic! I wish I had more space to order one of their desserts but I didn't, womp womp. If you have a chance to eat a burger in Spain, don't go to Burger King, go here!

The burger itself was massive and there is clearly a valiant attempt being made with toppings including bacon, caramelized onions, and arugula. However, I found the bun too thick and unwieldy, the patty too tightly packed (lean and "brick-ish") and dry, and the sauce too messy without adding anything to the product. My goal in life is not to be a debbie downer, so I'm totally cool with one of these issues occurring in a burger. But I'm not a rating inflator, and I won't play along with the the crowd (and boy does this place get packed). The burgers here are huge and taste fine, but that's all they are. Nothing special, and certainly not a 4.5. Barcelona, I am disappointed.

We elected the outside patio, which was nice to be in the fresh air and people watch. However, the chairs you sit on are more like stools and very wobbly--they need to fix that. The burgers were delicious. Mine, the Bacoa Burger, was on a brioche bun and had bacon and cheese on it. The burger in the bowl had a bit of a salad with it, but no dressing. The fries we ordered were thin cut and quite tasty as well, unfortunately they were cold by the time we got them. The servers here are young and try to accommodate you with seating nicely, and they clean up the tables pretty quick.

BAAAAAAAAAAACOA. Wow. Where do I start…read more.. ...Imagine a bright sunny day, sitting outside under a few umbrellas, right across from Barceloneta beach. You are with a couple of friends, drinking a few cold beers, and eating your way through Bacoa's menu - patatas bravas and French fries with spicy sauces and of course, the best burgers you will ever eat. Heavenly... On a recent trip to Barcelona, my sister and I were searching for a particular burger joint. We came across Bacoa by chance and decided to scratch our original idea, because Bacoa really stood out. You simply go inside and order what you want by ticking small boxes on a menu card. You pay at the counter, take your buzzer and your 'make your own' cardboard burger holder and then head out to their lovely outdoor area (you can also eat inside, but with Barcelona's hot and sunny weather, I would recommending sitting outside - great for people watching and also you are right near the beach). The great thing about Bacoa is that you can customise your own burger. You can pick between a white or wholemeal bun (which is lightly toasted) plus they offer a gluten free option - lettuce instead of a bun. You then pick your meat - organic beef, char grilled chicken, bacon, lamb, pork or their vegetarian option and decide whether you want to add any of their homemade sauces (including a secret homemade mayo - mmm...) When the food arrives at your table, you simply put your burger in your made up burger holder and voila, you are ready to eat! Just a note - their burgers are HUGE and juicy, but oozing with flavour inside. And yes, your hands will get very messy, but it is totally worth it! We loved Bacoa so much the first time that we came back the following night! I tried both the 'Pollo' (fresh chicken breast marinated for 12 hours, then char grilled) and also the 'Japonesa' (beef glazed with traditional teriyaki sauce). Both were amazing, but the 'Japonesa' really stood out. Also, if you are vegetarian or just love vegetarian food, then you are in luck. My sister ordered their 'vegetariana' burger twice, because it was THAT good. The patty is made of chickpeas, sweet corn, baby spinach, red pepper and topped with a spicy tomato chutney and creamed goat's cheese. Ooh la la! So, if your in need of a burger fix, and you happen to be by the beach, then head to Bacoa now for the best burgers in Barcelona!

The beef was juicy and flavorful, and cooked precisely "al punt" (Catalán for medium rare). Although the menus were only in Castilian Spanish and in Catalán (hey - it IS Catalonia, after all!) there were examples of each of the bun types at the order counter. The fries were also THAT GOOD. Better than most I've had since arriving here five years ago. Just sayin.' The beer selection was adequate, but could be much broader. Only two things kept me from giving them that elusive fifth star... the waitstaff and the dessert. Our wait person refused to honor a request for a "La Pequeburg" for my wife. She insisted this was for kids ONLY, although it said nothing of the sort on the menu. Despite my wife having a peckish appetite at the time, all I got was a cup full of NO from the server. NO. No. (sigh...) My wife also wanted an infusion (tea or herbal). Nope. If you don't want beet, you have to choose from water, high sugar soft drinks, or fruit juice with sugar added. Management may really want to look into these choices. Dessert - we shared what was allegedly tiramisu. I realize there are almost as many tiramisu recipes as there are restaurants in Barcelona, and they all have SOME amount of coffee in them - whether sprinkled on top in powdered form or whatever. THIS tiramisu, however, had ZERO coffee. It was nicely sprinkled with powdered cocoa, but... well... I'd better stop before I dock them another star. Bottom line: The hamburgers and fries were superb, but the rest was... meh.

After a period of eating all the Spanish food, a fella could really go for a burger. So, I typed…read moresome information into my handy-dandy Yelp app and I was soon at La Informal and ready to sit down to a decidedly-American burger, fries and beer. When I happened upon La Informal, I was surprised to find it empty. It's in a good location in a trendy neighborhood. I have to imagine that Monday nights aren't the busiest for them. All the better for me. I liked having the place to myself. The process is fairly easy: walk up to the counter, peruse to the menu, ask for suggestions, order, pay, get a number, take a number, sit down, and wait for delicious food to be brought to you. The woman who waited on me spoke excellent English but I chose to speak in Spanish. Why should she cater to me? I'm in her country. I shouldn't have been so in my head. I don't know whether it was for my benefit or how they roll at La Informal but during my stay, I listened to Beyonce, Usher, Bruno Mars, and other English-singing hitmakers. I loved the playlist. It definitely put me in the mood for my meal. My beer was ready first. Again, since I was in Barcelona, I had to have an Estrella. When paired with a burger and fries, the beer was a great match. I tried to sip it slow so as to enjoy the bulk of my beverage with my meal. I didn't need to worry too much about it because my food was made (to order) quickly. I can get used to this. I ordered the Blue Burger without mayonnaise (it's everywhere... like cockroaches). As you might imagine, the star of the Blue Burger is bleu cheese. As you might not imagine, it's gigantic. I was duly impressed by the size of my burger. This was not a flat, sad patty. This was a sandwich to be respected. Also respectable, my CONE of fries. Yep, cone. I think I prefer my fries served/delivered in a conical receptacle. They were well-seasoned, medium-cut and extremely plentiful. My plate ranneth over with fries. Between the service, music and food, La Informal was one of my more enjoyable meals in Barcelona. Does that mean I'm an ugly American or does that mean that they serve really delicious food you should make sure you eat while in the City of Counts? I'm going with option B.
