This is my absolute favorite place to get a hamburger in the area! La Tropa offers a variety of different creative burgers combinations that are all worth trying ! Even with the creative combos they still nail the basics with juicy patties, fluffy buns and fresh ingredients! The portions are generous and the plates are reasonably priced. Really excellent burgers! And, magically, open on New Year's Eve! For some reason, everything completely shuts down in Barcelona on New Year's Eve. We couldn't find a single place where we could grab some dinner. All we wanted was some take-out, but all of the places we researched were closed! Thankfully, La Tropa saved us. They have a menu in English, which we really appreciated. You fill out a little paper menu with everything you want (you can choose from their burgers, or create your own, or add your own ingredients to their burgers) and then give it to the server at the register (who was super nice). I got their chicken burger, which was delicious. My mom got their vegetarian burger, which is tofu and eggplant, she liked it a lot. My boyfriend got their three-cheese, beef patty burger, and said it was one of the best burgers he'd ever had. Each burger comes with your choice of a side of fries, or rustic potatoes, or patatas bravas, or salad. The only thing we didn't try was the patatas bravas. All the sides were great. If you're craving a yummy burger (at a place that is consistently open, even when the McDonalds nearby is closed up!) this is your place. read more

This burger was AMAZING. I am from the U.S. and quickly found out that Barcelona has some of the best burgers in the world. After 4 months in Barcelona, La Tropa is easily at the top of my list. It is huge, the meat is flavorful, toppings are fresh, and their special sauce is so tasty. We got our food fast and the atmosphere was pretty average (picnic table style indoor seating). read more

When we payed for our burgers in this restaurant by card, the card reading machine turned off without giving me a check. Employee told be to pay by cash and that transaction by card didn't passed, and even if it´s passed we can come after and she will refund us everything, no pasa nada. Today its 5th day that I´m arguing with them because the credit card worked actually, and I payed twice, but they cant find THE SAME TRANSACTION WITH DIFFERENCE OF 1 MINUTE in their payment system = no refund for us, sorry. I ate here several times during my stay in Barcelona and enjoyed each visit. The wait time for ordering out seemed a little long, but definitely worth it. They make some really juicy burgers and I recommend la rellenita. Definitely worth a stop. They have a really strong menu and the staff speaks English, as well. read more

After walking around a long time in the heat I stepped in to this restaurant. I must note this because right before I stepped in I purchased a water bottle from a snack corner store nearby. Ordering is fun because you fill out the hamburger you want but beware these prices climb rly high. Each individual ingredient you want to add is about a euro or more. I placed my order and the waitress insisted I get a drink although I motioned to her that I had a water bottle already so no thank you. She then said no outside drinks were allowed because of her boss. I understand this is common but almost all businesses in the west (I have travelled all over the world) usually allow at the most a personal water bottle for basic health reasons. Not trying to be rude I said okay I'll just have a cup of tap water (as I already was spending 12€ on just my burger and fries). The cashier said this was not possible and no drinks here are free. Really just wanting to sit down and eat I just said no drink. I had a fresh cold water bottle already it just didn't make sense to buy an overpriced drink. I told her no problem, if I get thirsty while I'm eating I will step outside the restaurant to take a sip of my water. Maybe I'm stubborn but I'm pretty agreeable if i see the reasoning behind a rule but as a travelling student, paying 15€ on a meal is not possible for me. This exchange was a bit awkward. Now on to the food, this place is ridiculously overpriced for the quality. I'm assuming it's to pay for the location in this area. That being said, essentially what you're paying for is really low low quality beef. I used to work in *fast food* and this is some of the lowest quality beef I've seen probably one step above McDonald's beef simply bc of the thicker quantity. However they cleverly place the low quality meat with good quality toppings (which like I said come at an additional cost if you want to add more). I had the "La Jugosa" burger and the Brie was good but I ended up throwing half the beef aside. Looking at the bizarre texture ruined my appetite. Overall, I needed to eat and this place fed me. Can't say I would recommend it though but if you're in the area, tired from walking for hours on a super hot day, and this is the only place you find then maybe. Just make sure you don't have any drinks on you. read more
